at House Five...

and 48 hours time,

this has to be completed.

Where that guy's working,
will be a shed.

Scaffold will come down,
the house will be clad,

the earthmover won't be there.

And all the earth
that has to be moved,

will be moved somewhere else.

Lawn will go, pool with go in,

and it will no longer
look like a battlefield.

Can it be done?

Well, this producer doesn't think so.

Call me naive,
it's been said before,

I don't think it's going
to get done.

I just don't think it can be done
in time.

SCOTT: Inside, it's s similar story.

In just 48 hours, Oz and Omar
have to finish this hallway,

that hallway,

a powder room,

and a laundry/mudroom.

This is the state
of the hallway in the pavilion,

still needs the Venetian plus
to be applied to the walls

and timber panelling installed
on the ceiling.

This is the breezeway,

and behind it is the hallway
in the original house,

which still has to be sheeted,
sanded, fretworked,

ceiling rays
and feature panelling added.

Only then, can it be painted
and styled, ready for judging.

Oh, and have we mentioned
the muddy conditions?

PLASTERER: That's challenging,
as well.

All our sheets are outside
in the rain,

and so we're uncovering them.

Cut one sheet, cover it back up.

The funny thing about The Block,

everything takes twice as long,

but we only have half the time
to do it.

and dealing with all the mud
and the rain,

it makes it even harder.

SCOTT: And then there's
this rather large matter

of the laundry/mudroom,

which hasn't even been
waterproofed yet.

And that's got Bryce from Freedom
scratching his head.

Of course, he's meant to be

installing the cabinetry
this morning.

(BELL DINGS)

SCOTT: So, how did Oz and Omar
end up here?

Well, it started with not one,
not two,

but three shutdowns
in a single day.

The first was because the house
wasn't wrapped.

Now, you have a house
that's unprotected.

You've got live power there.

And plasterboard.

And gyprock's exposed to the
weather.

Pretty much just said,

"Site shutdown
'til you guys get it wrapped".

SCOTT: The second because the site
was pigsty.

DAN: Feels like a junkyard,
to be honest.

Trip hazards everywhere,
sharp objects everywhere.

No work until we clean up.

No stress.

OMAR: You know what's funny?

We got shutdown,

and while we were shutdown,
we got shutdown again.

SCOTT: But the third shutdown,
was a whole lot less funny.

This whole house had to be wrapped,
and the slab had to be cleaned.

But the whole house isn't wrapped.

SCOTT: So, that's a total of 24 hours
that Oz and Omar have been shutdown

for what we're meant to do.

and with it brings a new to The Block
team of tilers,

who are finally beginning
to waterproof the laundry/mudroom.

around the drainage was too wet

and I couldn't allow these boys

through the breezeway
where I'll keep my piano,

and down the new section
of my hallway,

which will be wrapped

in a beautiful Porta timber
feature wall.

The very same timber
that Shell helped me choose

a few weeks ago.

our porter mouldings along the wall,

which look amazing.

I think once this house is finished,

The hallway in the original house
will have a traditional feel,

with Tom and Sarah-Jane's signature
wainscoting and tartan wallpaper.

But we're starting our tour
in their rather large breezeway,

the place where the old
meets the new.

and they came up here to Woodend,
and bought 80 acres.

Then they decided
to make their very own gin.

Because I'm such a good bloke,
and I'm really generous,

I'm putting up 2,000 bucks cash
of my own money

for the team
that can make the best gin.

I'm a straight alcohol
kind of person.

I like straight vodka,
straight tequila.

So, let's just throw a little splash
of something in there.

Who doesn't love lemongrass?

SCOTT: So, for Ryan and Rachel's,
'All you need is a Pinch Gin'.

Just the one botanical - lemongrass.

RACHEL: Much like our house,

We kept a very full back

we've just put a little bit
of lemongrass.

Because sometimes, all you need
is a little pinch of something.

CATHERINE: So, what you want to do,
is you want to pop open all the tops

and give it a good smell.

I guess it actually works out,

it's sort of something that you would
like to have in a dessert.

So, don't feel scared.

I got some lemongrass,
some cinnamon pods,

and this star "ani-see", is it?

I can't remember.

Yeah, anyway, three ingredients
for this gin.

SCOTT: Jenny and Dylan are going
for more of a complex flavour

with lemongrass, cinnamon,
and star anise.

(LAUGHS)

My little potion.

I called my gin, 'Jen Gin'.

(LAUGHS)

We were going to call it 'Russell',
because Dylan loves Russell Coight.

But what if we win
and our gin's called "Russell".

You can't have that.

And taste it.

So, I don't know
if I like a fruity gin.

I want to go more earthy.
Yeah.

If you want to do earthy,

put something like Angelica root
in it.

But the main thing's
not to go too hard

with these botanicals,

because they can
really overpower it.

So, I'm going to do
a tiny little bit.

Yep, that will be heaps.

So, for my 'Down and Dirty
Earthy Gin',

I'm going to add Angelica root,
chamomile flower and olive leaf.

So, like, lemongrass,
bit of citrus.

Like, fennel, ginger.

Anks cooks really good Asian food.

So, I'm hoping he's going to cool
a really good gin too.

SCOTT: For Ank's and Sharon's
"Asian Sensation",

they're adding a concoction
of lemongrass, ginger,

fennel, and some citrus.

What's it smell like, Tom?

It smells like $2,000 to me.

This is going to be
the best gin on The Block.

I think it's going to be
the best gin.

to be better than their gin.

PRODUCER: What'd you use?

Uh..
A little bit of lemongrass.

Sounds pretty crap.

Yeah, it does, now,
that we're saying it out aloud.

Yeah, agreed.

Let's brew this bad boy.

Choose a still, lift up the lid,

and make sure that nobody else
has got it.

We put it in a distiller, and yeah,
wait and see what happens.
