It's a chilly Friday morning
on the Block

and, after a hectic week working
on our charity house challenge

and a few on-site setbacks,

our Blockheads have some
serious catching up to do

in order to deliver the biggest
rooms The Block has ever seen.

Over in House 2, the midnight oil
is still burning brightly.

Yeah, buddy, haven't stopped,
about lunchtime yesterday.

Oh!

What absolute legends
are our stonemasons.

Not only did they start Thursday but
they rolled over the whole night.

It's insane.

Their plan was to always
work through the night,

and the reason being is because,
when they did our master bedroom,

they built it on the floor
like a Tetris

with these two different types
of stone,

and then they put it on the wall.

So, if you can imagine 3.3 metres

by, you know, 5-point-something laid
out on the floor, it's impossible.

PRODUCER: How much longer
do you have to go?

Um, oh, probably another
two hours of laying,

and then four, five hours
of jointing.

Hopefully, they're
pleasantly surprised this morning.

That's unbelievable.

That is deadset a work of art.

Like, just great, great, great guys
and, the execution, second to none.

Perfect.

We want to win and this is
gonna help us get the win.

With nearly seven weeks down
and just five weeks to go,

all of our Blockheads
are hungry for a win this week.

We were worried from the start
if we were gonna finish this room.

The room is ginormous and just
looks and feels ginormous.

We haven't done any painting.

Then we've got flooring,
then we've got sparky.

Nothing's been done yet
so, like, it's just killing me.

So, the plan is that,
the plasterers,

they'll try to finish the dining
side of it halfway through today.

It'll be an all-nighter tonight,
I have a feeling,

and then an all-nighter tomorrow
for painting,

and then I still don't know
if that gets done.

It's a big space.

I might be painting it next week.

I think it should be fine.

Every day, we're trying to stay
positive but, as the days roll on,

it's Friday again,
I just can't see it happening.

I'm trying, I'm trying, I'm trying.

Over in House 1, Sarah-Jane
is taking a more laidback approach.

This morning, I'm staying in bed
because it's absolutely freezing

outside and there's no real reason
for me to get up.

So, I'm going through my emails

and reconciling all my accounts,
making sure everyone gets paid.

It seems like my Blockheads
are in need of some motivation

and positivity this morning.

I can only think of one
sure-fire way to cheer them up.

It's a massive living and dining
room week here on The Block,

and, up on the hill in House 5,

Oz and Omar are fired up for a win
this week.

Pretty much, it's go hard
or go home.

Especially in a room
that's this big,

it's 70 square metres,
like, it's monster.

Although this is a huge room,
Omar and Oz have, in fact,

the smallest living and dining
room on the Block this week.

The boys plan on putting timber
beams into their cathedral ceiling,

comfy couch in front
of their fireplace

and, in the corner,
a baby grand piano.

Very simple but we are giving it the
attitude it deserves, to be honest.

So, Friday, in the morning,
we couldn't do much.

Plasterers have to sand, sand, sand.

There was no point for us
to be in the living room.

Oz and I, we had to go
check the new colour

that we're using
for our walls and ceilings.

We went and did that together.

Paint's a massive decision.

Our paint choice has to be spot on.

If we don't get the paint right
and we don't paint it

to what we need it to paint, the
room's gonna look like (BLEEP).

Next door in House 4,

Dylan and Jenny are hoping
their plasterers

will give them the winning edge
this week.

Today, the plasterers,

they need to get the plaster in,
done, get the gyprock set.

Yeah.

Dylan and Jenny are planning to have
a 3-seater couch

in front of a big fireplace,

and their venetian plaster wall
will be on the left-hand side,

which will be completed
with some lovely artwork.

I'm just, like, thinking,
what else can I do

that's gonna get us
that extra half a point?

Yeah, so, we had Matty from Render X
down doing the venetian plaster.

Oh, yeah.

Gold Coast.
Yeah, he's a Goldy boy.

He used to date one of my friends
that I followed on Instagram.

'Cause he does such sick work so we
wanted him to do stuff on our house.

Thought we'd add a bit of texture
into this one.

I didn't really want to come down
and just do a plain white wall.

Yeah!

So, what we're doing here is,
with our sealer, we're adding,

like, a brown tint and then putting
it on the wall with a sponge,

taking it off with a rag

just so it sort of sticks in
these pitted parts.

Yeah, OK.

It gives it, like, a bit of depth.

Oh, yeah, wow.

So, this is where we turn it from,

I guess, a plain wall
into having some character.

Oh, OK.

Yeah, it's definitely
a bloody art, isn't it?

I quite like the white part more,
to be honest.

Each to their own, I guess.
Yeah, yeah.

Over in House 1,
things are moving forward

as, earlier this week,
Tom called for reinforcements.

What are we up against?

Mate, we're up against
the weather, actually.

We've got weatherboards.

How many walls are there?
Um...

There's one wall that goes around
the whole house.

With the interiors of the old
section of the house complete,

Tom and Sarah-Jane have decided
to get a jump on the other houses

by installing their
exterior weatherboard.

The boys did really well,

considering the amount of,
like, small hold-ups we had.

Mate, this James Hardie
linear product's fantastic.

As you can see, it's easy to use.

They also supply the glue pen
so it makes the job really easy.

So, all the weatherboards
that are undercover are all done.

Meanwhile in the new pavilion
part of the house,

glazing has started to be installed,
which will go a long way

to warming up their enormous
living and dining area.

And, at a whopping
107 square metres,

it's the largest room ever
on The Block,

and the creme al limone is Tom
and Sarah-Jane's piece de resistance

that is being placed into position.

That thing's pretty sexy
and the fireplace isn't bad, either.
