as it could be for them

if the lovely people from The Block
who are coming to town

would like to help him and Tyler

which of course we would.

We have got plastering, crews
outside doing landscaping, decking.

He is on hand to take in a tonne
of today's deliveries.

the subtrades will finish up.

That way, hopefully,
when all the contestants come,

do all the touchup painting
and start bringing everything in.

we kicked off
a life-changing challenge

to help out a local Gisborne family.

The two young men are best
friends and have special needs

but live independently
just down the road from us.

Tyler's mother Sandy and Tim's

to be able to maintain their happy
household for many years to come.

Because of this, Kay has asked
her Block neighbours for some help.

This of course wasn't

First up for judging is team one.

They had the kitchen, the front
lounge and Tim's room to do.

Darren, I'm so sorry about the dog

He's wiping it off with a wet wipe.

It's OK.

Let's get to business, shall we?

Space one.

Wow.

The front lounge is team one's
first area up for judging.

Tim and Tyler are both
so sensory sensitive

so we were thinking
of a sensory area

where they perhaps can play
musical instruments

and some really fun things
for them to be able to do.

Awesome.

It is awesome.

I've got to point out there is
a few things

that you might not notice.

Aluplast have replaced all the
windows in the whole house.

They had some help from...

They did from Asterlight
who are a local manufacturer

and Viridian donated all the glass
as well so we had a massive help

from sponsors on this particular
project as you would imagine.

New carpets, Court Carpet.

For Tim and Tyler as you know, it's
all about that sensory experience.

I'm just doing this already.

I like the sensory experience
of this carpet under my feet.

Grafico's done the wall for them,

the mural and the team did put in
a lot of effort

thinking about what the boys are
actually going to use the space for.

It's brilliant.

The movement and the vibrancy.

The colour in there.

I love that you've got that sense of
the cascading waterfall

and it just feels exciting.

It's fantastic. What an amazing job.

That's lovely.
Let's move on through.

Leaving the lounge, the kitchen is
the second space team one took on.

Kitchen came out fab.

We wanted to just make it light,
bright,

Tyler's vision-impaired so...

Veluxes.

Yeah. Open everything up,
get some good lighting in there.

Love it. Love it, love it, love it.

To the second space
for the same team

which is of course a brand-new
Freedom Kitchen.

with Residentia appliances.

Yes, and this used to be quite
a dark space, didn't it?

Now it's so bright
with the Velux skylight.

It is anything but dark now,
isn't it?

I like that it feels so light
and bright.

They've chosen beautifully.
I love a Shaker profile.

The boys don't really cook
but when their carer's with them,

they love to sit and watch

and obviously get involved
in that regard

so it was really great for them

to have that bench space too
to be able to sit there

and actually observe everything

that's going on
in the kitchen itself.

Yeah, you can really see
that it's perfectly done.

Everything's been
installed beautifully.

It's a mammoth effort
but it such a transformation.

Team one's third
and final space is Tim's room

which is located
at the back of the house.

For Tim's room,
we heard Tim loves water.

We want to create his room to feel
like he's in a big wave.

Okey-dokey.

Well, this is full of joy, isn't it?

Isn't it? Yes.

I love that they've got the keyboard
in here

and all the toys and all that joy.

I think the wave again has that
sense of movement to it.

How do you go past that?

Yeah, we'd like this in a room,

just to touch as you walk past all
the time.

100%.

That's it but it feels really
cosy in here too.

I think this has really been
tailored beautifully for Tim.

You've got all the tactilia.

I love that you've got the great
consistent colour scheme.

So one team has delivered the front
lounge, the kitchen

and this bedroom.

They're all being judged as one.

to the second team.

Wow, look at that.

We are halfway through judging
for our charity house challenge.

So let's see how team two's Dylan
Jenny, Oz and Omar

and Ankur and Sharon fared
with their three reno rooms.

Team two have the dining room, the
patio and Tyler's room to complete.

The first space for the second team,
this is Tyler's room.

For Tyler and this room,
we know that he loves red.

We know he loves Essendon.

We know that he loves cars
so I was like, bing.

Obviously a water theme next door.

In here, he loves his footy.

Essendon.

And we've got a car motif there.

I'm a bit of a car nut
so that works for me.

Essendon is lost on me
unfortunately.

I thought it might be
but it's a football club, mate.

Is that what that is?

We've got a signed jersey
behind you.

Wow, how did they get
their hands on that?

They've been hustling, hustling,
hustling all week.

That's a big find.

Again, you've got that lovely
tactility on the headboard.

You've got velvet there.

Everything in here does have
that sensory input

and I know that's important and I
love that that's been considered.

OK, we've got another lounge room
space to have a look at.

That is correct.

OK, come this way.
Let's do it.

Located in the heart of the home,
the second lounge

and dining room is team two's next
room up for judging.

The boys' lounge area looks so good.

All the stuff that I ordered
was right.

A dining table, TV cabinet,
Grafico wallpaper.

Couch, everything looks awesome.

Lounge room number two is out here.

Couple of points I'd like to point
out was the Velux skylights.

This was also a dark space.

Mirrored TV,
dropped off by Danny Wallace.

Our great friend of The Block
Danny Wallace. Love you, Danny.

And dining room table over there.
That's new.

I love that there is a dining space

and lounge space and we have two
different lounges.

The boys can sit here together
or they can be separate.

I think that's excellent.

It's a great open space.

I notice that the Grafico ties into
this great sideboard

and I love how the timber there

in the picture runs into that timber
on the board.

I think that's fantastic.
It's dramatic, you know.

Yeah.

There's lots of drama.

There's lots of interest,
there's lots of input

and I think that's really cool.

Look, I wouldn't be a judge

if I didn't find something that
I think I could have improved on.

Yes.

They could have used a rug
here, I think.

Absolutely.

You do notice it.

You do notice the difference

between that lovely tactility
under your feet and the warmth.

Well, the last place for you

to judge is the patio
and that was the same team.

So let's head outside.

That's new?

That's brand-new.

Situated on the home's west side,

the patio is the third and final
space taken on by team two.

Oz and I organised what needed
to happen in the landscape

that was never part of the reno.

We were just meant to do
the pergola area.

The Stratco, pergola and decking

and we smashed that first day
when they gave us.

Pretty much,
we were like do you know what,

they love putt-putt, they love
basketball, just do something...

They love the swing.

We pretty much did a lot
in landscape.

OK.

Ooh.

Darren.

This had a very old timber pergola
out here with laser light on it.

And Stratco have came up
with this...

It's this fantastic product
of theirs

which spans that whole distance.

No framework required.

They've got the ceiling bit here,

they've got a foam insulation in the
middle and then the roofing on top.

It locks into a channel at this end

and sits straight
on that beam there.

Done.

That's it, simple.
Unreal.

Yup.
And lets light through too.

Beautiful.
That's tops.

Perfectly complemented of course

by our new outdoor
timber-like decking.

Great thing.

That transition between here
and here, nice and flat.

Yes, it was a big step down.

That's brilliant.

I love what it's leading
to over there.

That wasn't a part of the brief.

Scotty and I didn't think for one
second that in seven days,

they would be able to do all of
these spaces plus the outdoor yard

but team two decided that they were
going to take it on board anyway.

Can't be judged but there is a lot
of stuff out there worth looking at.

But there is some local people

that came and worked for a week
doing that

plus Carpet Court put the basketball
court slash putting green down.

They all got together and they did
that for nothing, mate.

Wow.
Yeah.

There were local businesses here
that just wanted to be a part of it.

Wanted to give back and so they've
been actually out there

in the sleet, the snow, the sludge

working a lot harder
than our contestants.

I'll be blatantly honest.

They've done a beautiful job.
