and tugs at the heartstrings.

on the living and dining rooms,

which are located in the new pavilion
of each house.

And to say these spaces are big
is an understatement.

This is the biggest room
The Block has ever tackled.

I don't know TV will do justice...

..to how big this room is.

When people watch this,
they won't really even comprehend.

Maybe a few stats will help convey
the enormity of these rooms

to you folks back home.

The living and dining floor spaces

range from 67 to 107 square metres
each

and the ceiling heights range
from 6m to 7m high.

The sheer size of it,
it was like building a house.

It is. It is actually the size
of some people's houses.

It would 100%
be the size of our house.

OMAR: It's a two-bedroom unit block,
I reckon, the whole thing.

In a few moments,
you'll meet four couples.

They're about to take on
the biggest renovation

ever attempted on television.

That's not the biggest renovation

This is the biggest renovation

In fact, if you were to add

our teams' living and dining spaces
together,

it would be bigger
than the entire building

from the very first season
of The Block.

Much bigger.

And it's just one room this year.

With so much space to transform,
there's not a moment to spare.

So this week was huge for us.

Rachel and Ryan haven't had it easy
on The Block.

They're yet to win anything.

And it's fair to say,
the judging week in and week out

has been getting them down.

The room doesn't do much justice
to the heritage of the home.

NEALE: They're obviously doing
this modern take on country

but don't take it any more
contemporary than it is.

DARREN: It's beige. It just makes it
look a little cheap.

When I look around, there are
some things that don't work.

This room doesn't have a hero.

SHAYNNA: I hate saying this.
It is a kitchen without a soul.

Yep, they've been a bit down
in the dumps, until now.

MAN: Right, so it's Monday morning,
living and dining week

and your whole tune has changed.

For me, this has been
an unbelievable rollercoaster

and there was a point where I felt
like it was never gonna end.

I think I realised this week
I can just enjoy it

and let all the stuff that was
weighing me down just roll off me.

This is our week. Ten, ten, ten.

OK, so, obviously, we're having
a huge entrance come in here

from the old part of the house.

This is going to be a floor to
ceiling stacked stone fireplace.

And here's what the fireplace
is going to look like.

The room will also feature a massive
lounge, ten-seater dining table

and to cap it all off,
timber flooring on the ceiling.

is to get the walls up

so these rooms can be sealed off
against the elements.

And for the teams to get
a seven-star energy rating,

they need special insulation
called PIR boards,

but they're proving hard to come by.

It all comes down to insulation.
But everyone needs it yesterday.

It's a CSR product, it's 30mm thick.

It's foam
and it's foiled either side

and it's to stop the thermal
transfer from the metal rafters

through to the plaster,
so to take any coldness out.

But that is really hard to get.

We knew it was gonna be an issue
and it was a huge issue.

MAN: (ON PHONE) Regarding PIR,
we're working on that at the moment,

so please understand it's across
all houses that this is happening

and we are...

off the builders,

in a factory in Melbourne.

They have to then pull
and then they can be dispatched,

which, at this stage, we're hoping

this insulation storage,

my mind just automatically
thinks about our schedule

our Blockheads have been working on

house makeover challenge.

RACHEL: Tim has Down syndrome
and is severely autistic.

He lives with his beautiful
best friend Tyler,

who, again, has autism.

The house just isn't suited to two
men with Down syndrome and autism.

They've been divided into two teams

and have been given $15,000
to transform half of the home each.

You're team one, you're team two.
Let's get renovating!

Despite the lack of supplies,

the cold and the mammoth size
of the rooms this week,

this life-changing challenge
is getting our Blockheads through.

This is something that we all just
really, really, really want to do.

And tonight, team one,
who are responsible for the kitchen,

front lounge and Tim's bedroom,

are getting to work.

I feel like if we didn't do
that challenge this week,

Tyler and Tim's place,

I feel like I would've been in
a worse mindset for the week.
