Hurry!

You know what happened to the last black man who used to run through airports?

You know who I'm talking about.

So your master's visit is a big deal, huh? I owe everything I have to my

I can't wait to meet him. What time is he through?

Flight 280, China Air, arriving at 1255.

Wait a minute. You got me running through airport terminals like O .J. so

can be an hour early?

It's possible his pain cut the tailwind. Come on.

Who'd come with us?

I'm telling you, in all my years of coming to the airport, I've never seen a

flight come in early.

Oh, Samo!

Yes,

Master. How was your flight?

Oh, long, Samo.

And I had already seen both movies.

This is my partner, Terrell.

Sir, it's a pleasure to meet you. Yes, Mr. Parker.

Some more have mentioned you in his letter.

You mentioned me?

Terrell. What?

That man has a gun. Where?

They just made a trench.

That doesn't look right.

Let's get ready to rumble.

Not here.

Too many innocent people.

Master, I must go. Our police matter. Please wait for me here.

This could get ugly, sir. Stay right here.

This is Terrell Parker. I'm at LAX in the Bradley Terminal. We're following

three suspects, at least one is armed.

Feel it.

Great job.

Hey buddy, no smoke in here. You're going to have to put that out.

So I'm going to need to see inside your jacket there.

Hey!

Freeze, LAPD!

Put the hardware down!

Now!

Gunther, what's going on?

So, what's the upshot on this one?

Well, some sort of courier deal.

We went after the guys with the guns.

Who's the witness?

Young lady over there named Lisa Mulray. The paramedics are checking her out

now.

All right.

Is that Samuel's master?

In the flesh.

You can understand English, can't you?

I know you can.

I can tell by the way you blink.

Well, we know who this guy is. Has he said anything?

No. He is very controlled.

Lieutenant? Yeah?

The deputy German counsel's in your office.

What? Who the hell called him?

He said he's here to pick up our suspect.

Edward Draker, Benjamin Winch.

I'm afraid I must apologize for this incident.

Well, we're going to need a lot more than just an apology, Deputy Counsel.

What do you want with our suspect?

He's wanted on an outstanding warrant in Germany.

Is that right? For what?

Various crimes.

Have a seat.

Well, I've got a report here from Interpol that shows that our suspect is

member of the Red Storm, a German terrorist group that's responsible for

numerous bombings all across Europe.

Are these the crimes to which you are referring, sir?

Yes, that's correct.

What's he doing here?

We're not sure. Possibly procuring supplies.

Munitions and military hardware are far more readily available in your country.

The leader of this group is a man named Gunther, son of a very influential

member of our parliament.

With the U .S.-German summit taking place in Bonn this week, well, you can

imagine the ramifications.

Yeah, well, it looks as though you've pulled every conceivable strain just to

get your boy back home.

He is a German criminal.

He should be charged in Germany.

I believe there was also a witness.

Yes. And while you may be able to extradite foreign nationals, we're not

her up.

But our people will need to interrogate her. If she does know something, there

is a chance that... Well, if she comes up with something useful, I will let you

know. No, no, no, no, no. I... That is not acceptable.

I insist.

Well, go ahead and insist.

Demand. Pound your fist on my desk. But you're not going to interfere with my

investigation.

I expect to be kept apprised of all activity.

Certainly.

Is that Mr. Ring sitting in my seat?

Yeah, he just came in this afternoon.

Do I get an introduction?

Oh, yeah, sure.

This is Louis Malone.

Hello, Mr. Ring.

It's a privilege.

Mr. Malone, it is a pleasure.

Semo asked me to make some of your favorite tea.

Oh, thank you, Pepe, but I was hoping you had Diet Coke.

Oh.

Diet Coke. I'll take care of him for you, Mr. Ring. Excuse me.

He's a good catch, Pepe.

Can I get you to sign this?

There. Sure.

No, Mr.

Ring, he's my partner.

I sense his feelings are different.

Tamara?

I'm afraid it's true.

Why would they be interested in me?

Miss Kondo and Reseda.

Why would they take me to a courier exchange?

Come on, I'll explain it to you.

See, the terrorist drags you along when he does something criminal. Therefore,

when he wants to do his terrorist thing... Oh, my God. He'll get you

his plans. If you don't agree, he convinces you you've already done

criminal. You've already done something terrible, and your only way out is to

help him.

What would they want from me?

That's what I don't know.

Where'd you meet Gunther?

He started coming to this restaurant down by the DWP substation.

I'm supervising engineer for the whole southwest corridor of the city.

We went out for a couple of drinks, nothing serious.

Do you know where he lives? Have you ever been to his plate?

Never.

You want to know how stupid I feel right now?

It's not stupid, it's trust.

It's not a bad thing.

Wait a minute.

One night we stopped by a warehouse. He said it was his office.

That could be very helpful.

Can I call Gibson?

Tell him.

He's got my missiles, so I've got his money.

Gunther!

Here's your man.

Felix, I trust you haven't been mistreated by the Americans. I revealed

Maybe.

Nevertheless, I'm going to send you home.

No!

Stop!

Granger, what are you doing? You cannot do this to me.

What about Lisa?

Still being held by LAPD. They would not let me question her.

I see.

I swear, Gunther.

I tried.

I believe you.

Don't worry about Lisa.

I'll handle her myself.

Looks like Gunter cleared out in a hurry.

Yeah, well, you don't make the Interpol top ten by taking any chances.

You know what, Grace? I think it's really cool that Master Rang traveled

this way to see his prized student.

Well, it goes deeper than that, you know. What do you mean?

Well, Sammo's dad was in prison during the Cultural Revolution.

So Sammo was sent to opera school.

Master Rang's sort of like his surrogate dad.

I guess that explains why Sammo respects him so much.

Yeah. Being the oldest student, Simon was held to a higher standard than

everybody else.

I guess he felt like he was never able to live up to Master Ring's

you know?

Yeah.

Lewis, check this out.

It's out of paper, but there's a fax waiting.

What do you think? Perfect.

I'll never call a junk mail again.

I noticed some sort of operating instructions.

The boys must have been in such a hurry they missed it.

Question is, what's it for?

My home is yours.

Just as you offered your home to me so many years ago.

You will have my bedroom during your visit.

I will sleep out here.

Very nice place.

A jet ski.

I want it.

And all the rest of my furniture.

On the price is right.

You have never ridden it?

No time.

you must make time for other things besides work.

Yes, Buster.

Now you're a teacher yourself. You must broaden your pursuit.

A big screen.

Please.

It'll cut through a branch and still remain razor sharp. And look, the dual

is like two knives in one. In Japan, the foot can split wood.

But it can't split a watermelon.

This is Ginsu, too. A complete set of knives like this Ginsu chef's knife. But

wait, you also get this matching Ginsu... Is this a popular program?

It's called an infomercial.

They are very... Not... Excuse me, Samuel?

The door was open.

Oh, who is that?

Mrs. Pimner, my landlady. Why don't you ask her to come in? No, no.

I'll stay right here if that's all right.

She is agoraphobic.

I don't like to leave my apartment if I can help it.

Why are you afraid?

Um, it's a condition, a phobia.

Some people are afraid of spiders or airplanes.

I'm afraid of everything.

Fear of everything is ultimately the fear of nothing.

Mrs. Pinder, this is my master from China, Master Ren.

He is here visiting.

Hello.

Well, I should go.

Come back another time.

We will talk.

All right.

Goodbye. Thank you.

Okay, now, go home.

Interpol sent me this photo of Gunther. They want him back.

His are the top five terrorists least.

Yeah. Well, they're not gonna like what we found in Gunther's office, Sammo. We

checked it out. So you found something?

Yep. Partial operational instructions for a laser -guided anti -tank missile,

Lieutenant. They are here to blow something up.

And they need Lisa to do it.

Where is she?

She's with Terrell and Grace. They took her to a boat down in the marina. It's a

temporary safe house. Look, I better call the German consulate and put him in

the loop.

I still can't believe this.

I feel like I'm in the middle of a nightmare.

Somebody else's nightmare.

Young lady, you are going to be just fine. Terrell Parker has never lost a

protected witness.

Right, Grace?

Take me right.

Right.

How many witnesses have you brought here?

Actually,

you're my first.

But look, you're just fine.

Nothing's happened.

I'm hungry. You want some pizza or something?

Maybe if they take more than 30 minutes, we'll get it free.

Come here, Lisa. I need you to hide down there just for one minute. Hurry,

hurry, hurry.

Where's the girl?

She's downstairs sleeping.

If I don't see her in three seconds, you're dead.

Telephone!

Senator Ruff, what's German for man overboard?

So much for safe harbor.

That train you derailed last year, you remember that? That was murder.

Why are you collecting information on anti -tank weapons?

Oh, that's right.

Yeah, we know about your little toys. So come on.

Why don't you talk to us?

Red Storm's actions will speak louder than any words.

He was at the restaurant too.

So he was with Gunter?

No, he was by himself. He tried to pick me up a couple of weeks before I even

met Gunter. I blew him off.

But he's part of this too.

And there's a reason why they targeted you.

What are the parameters of the Southwest Corridor?

It runs from LAX down to Orange County.

It's one of the largest in Southern California.

Why?

It figures into this somehow.

I just wish I knew how.

Come on, horse. Shake us through.

Got off the horn with the German council. Seems this red storm guy you

grabbed at the airport did a runner.

Beat up the deputy council.

And now he's gone.

And it won't happen again.

We're not extraditing this one.

Are we? Not on my watch.

Only the Germans knew that. We put Lisa in a safe house.

Maybe Red Storm's got a mole in the consulate. You know, most of these

people are trained intelligence agents.

You know, I'm kind of worried that they could hack into the LAPD computer and

find out the location of the safe house with not much of a problem.

Lieutenant, a couple of unis found an abandoned rental car two blocks from the

marina. Fingerprints match a guy in the tank.

Did you get an address?

Loft downtown.

Great. You and Lou hit it.

Sam, what are we going to do about Lisa?

She can't stay with me.

No, no, no. I'm sorry.

I'm not coming up there. No.

There's nothing to be afraid of.

What do you mean?

There are no walls.

There's nothing to protect me.

Then look at me.

Focus. Let me be your boundary.

Once you learn trust, the rest will come.

Come. You can do it.

It's not so bad after all.

It is a beautiful day.

Your biggest danger is sunburn.

Nothing special, all right.

Look at him.

Your landlady hasn't been out of the house in years, and he's got her out on

beach doing tai chi and jumping around.

My master can be very persuasive.

Sure can.

I bet he was quite a teacher, Samuel.

He is much more than my teacher.

For many years.

He was my entire life.

You still teach him?

No. The opera school closed several years ago.

Opera is not so popular anymore.

Taste changes.

The world changes.

Opera was his entire life.

It was supposed to be mine as well.

Good morning.

Do you sleep well?

Yeah. Thank you, Samuel.

You've been very kind.

Lisa, I want to take you down to your office and see if I can come up with any

clues as to why they want you.

So, is this going to be my life from now on?

Sleeping on couches, hiding, running?

Only till we catch them.

What if you don't?

You'll catch them.

Terrorism racket isn't very Hollywood.

It's your typical M .O. Low profile to no profile.

I've got mail here.

Mr. Mueller has a credit card bill.

Really?

This guy's either the most dedicated tourist I've ever seen... Or somewhere

here is our target.

Grace?

Look at that.

Lisa Mulray.

They want her bad.

This is getting very uncomfortable.

Perhaps we should postpone.

There will be other targets.

I postpone nothing.

The derailment in Hanover, the attack in Rome, that meant nothing to the

Americans.

It was foreign power.

We are not going to miss this chance.

When the American delegation flies back home from Germany tomorrow, they will

never know.

What hit them?

Goes right across there.

Terrell, can I see you for a second, maybe?

Sure. Why don't you have a seat right here? I'll be right back.

What's up?

Okay, we found Mueller's loft.

This guy's got all sorts of surveillance photos of your friend over there.

Yeah? Yeah. Good news is we found a credit card, Bill.

He's been springing for drinks downtown in a local bar.

I have the address.

Two beers, please.

I think the man ordered two beers.

Gee, this place is going to be a problem. How do you want to play it,

Let's just scope the place out. Maybe later on we can get some information

his personality.

I love it here.

It's absolutely beautiful.

Oh, snap.

Guns.

My box does.

My box does.

Especially for the time of year.

Ran the players from the bar through interrogation.

The guy that Gunther was pow -wowing with, his name is Gibson.

He's a freelance arms dealer. Deals with the big stuff.

Everything from laser -guided bombs to Russian MiG. We must now assume that

Gunther has the missiles.

Yeah, but the problem is we have photos for over 20 targets. I mean, how do we

narrow those down?

I've got someone who may be able to answer that. I'm all ears, Logan. I had

phone company run a log of all the calls coming from the law.

Check out this guy's phone, pal.

Wait a minute. There's over 20 calls to Deputy Counsel Edward Draker.

There's our mole.

Take him down.

Doesn't this guy have diplomatic immunity?

Not if I can help.

There's our German.

What do you say we go wipe the smile off this guy's face?

Yeah, yeah.

And I look forward to our next meeting.

Excuse me one second, please.

Detective, this is a surprise.

Yes, well, we have some interesting news for you, Draker. We discovered that the

Red Storm has a mole in the German Council.

Ah, and have you identified this person?

Hold on to your leader, Hosenbraker.

It's you.

This is ridiculous.

Twenty calls from a terrorist's loft to Iraq.

I have diplomatic immunity.

Put your hands behind your back.

You can't lay a hand on me. Really? How about two, Draker? Huh?

You have no idea what trouble you're in. Neither do you, my friend. Neither do

you.

I don't like close calls, Gunter.

Maybe this will make you feel better.

Yeah, it does.

Especially now that our business is done.

How about a demonstration?

I'm missing the last page of the manual.

First you put it up on your skills.

Pull this out.

Flick this up.

Push this button down.

You line up your target.

Squeeze down on the red button, it bombs away.

Just remember, once it's launched, keep the laser sight aimed on the target, or

it'll wander off course.

Need more practice? Buy a Game Boy.

As of now, I'm on this.

Don't call me.

Don't follow me.

I don't know you.

Clear?

Bring it here.

Our target is flying in tonight.

Those detectives know where Lisa is hiding.

Find her.

I know this thing has been hard on you.

But we're getting close.

What?

Nothing.

Going what?

You remind me of this guy I used to know back in my college days.

Some... Smart, sexy guy that was in your calculus class?

No. He was a waiter.

A waiter? Yes.

But he was a good man.

You could tell he cared about people.

Well, you can't.

About me.

Thanks.

You want to go, Master?

Yes.

I've wanted to see this place forever.

Fred Astaire.

He was magnificent in Top Hat.

I remember our many trips to the cinema.

Those were happy memories, Samo.

The actor grows old and dies, but his work lives.

It is his legacy, his gift to the world.

Like your work with the opera school.

My work is a memory.

In time, memories fade, and soon it will be forgotten.

Why have you come to America, Master?

I'm nearing the end of my life, Samo.

I realize now that my true legacy is not in my work, but my students.

You have many fine pupils, Master.

Oh, but you, Samo, you are the most gifted.

Only one other came close to your skill, and he was lost to me years ago.

What is the country's target?

What do they want with me?

American police.

Pathetic.

Counsel General.

Thank God.

Perhaps now this farce will come to an end.

Sit.

I've spoken to our Foreign Affairs Office.

We have agreed to waive your diplomatic status regarding this investigation.

What? Your country trusted you.

Now, we wash our hands of you.

You can't stop it.

It's too late.

And it's too late for the girl.

They followed you.

They know everything.

Damo, your apartment.

You'll never make it in time.

Call the Qigong.

Deep breathe.

Breathe out.

Good. It helps you to keep good health.

I can see that.

This is why I look so young.

It's Mrs. Pinder.

Samos landlady.

Get your hands up.

I'm sorry.

Old man.

Back up.

Lisa,

you've been avoiding me.

You shouldn't worry.

I have no intention of hurting you.

The police are coming. We must go.

Let's go, Lisa.

We've got to go dancing at the top of the world.

They took Lisa.

Did they say anything?

The leader said he was taking Lisa dancing.

Dancing at the top of the world.

Yo, Parker, talk to me.

Uh -huh.

That was DWP. Lisa just signed on to the power system with her password from the

substation near the airport.

He must be going after a plane.

But these are short -range missiles. How can they hit a jet?

By firing up as the plane comes into land.

You know, there's a restaurant a couple blocks from the airport. It's on the top

floor of a hotel. As a matter of fact, it's called Top of the World.

Let's go.

i shut down half the airport so what the downtown office will override me as

soon as they realize what's going on but then it will be too late

Get ready. That's our plane on final approach.

I didn't want to shut down the airport.

I just want to divert traffic to a new flight path.

One that passes right over this building to the only runway with lights.

You're going to blow up a plane.

Not just any plane.

This one carries a congressional delegation coming home from Germany.

After tonight...

Americans will never again feel safe.

Police!

Drop it or you're dead!

Terrell!

She dies before anybody.

Put your gun down.

Before I lose my patience. Okay.

Beautiful turn.

Right on course.

Our plane will be the next one in the pattern.

First time I saw you.

I am still intrigued with the whole concept of power distribution. You know,

volts, kilowatts.

Why Deion Sanders no longer wants to be called Neon Deion.

Maybe I can explain it to you sometime.

Master, I sense a distance between us, Osamu.

Master,

there is something I must know.

When I left the opera school, were you angry?

I admit, I always hoped that you would someday take over the school and carry

the tradition.

I'm sorry, I did not mean to dishonor you.

No, Osamu, please, hear me out.

But I realized that it was a selfish dream.

Chinese opera was dying artful.

No one can be blamed for that.

You have taken all the skills of stage combat and made them real.

You have helped many people, often at great personal risk.

This honor knows I'm all.

I am...

My legacy is safe with you.

Thank you, Master.

Thank you, Samuel.

You make your old master proud.

Very proud indeed.

The German Council. Seems this Red Storm guy you guys grabbed at the airport did

a runner.

Beat up the German... Who? The German Council?

What country is that? It's near Switzerland. Germany?

Germany. I think Buckwheat is president of Germany.

What are you guys talking about?

and put down the weapon.

So he was with Gunter?

No, he was by himself. He tried to pick me up a couple of weeks before I ever

met Gunter.

And I blew him off.

So he's part of this, too.

Mm -hmm.

What's wrong?

We all right?

Oh! I didn't see that.

I just... I didn't know what was wrong.

Look at her shaking her groove thing.

I think Matt's just trying to get his freak on.

I'm just kidding, man.

You don't even know what that means.

Carlito's back.

Surprise. And wants to go straight.

I ain't going back to prison, no matter what.

But the past keeps creeping up on him.

Al Pacino in Carlito's Way, tomorrow at 11 on ITV4.
