On the afternoon of May 19th, Harlan
Slade, a convicted burglar, serving time

for the attempted murder of a bank
security officer, broke out of state

A prison guard was injured during the
escape, and Harlan Slade was placed on

FBI's 10 Most Wanted list.

Based on evidence that he crossed state
lines following his escape, a federal

warrant was issued charging Slade with
unlawful flight to avoid confinement.

Inspector Erskine was placed in charge
of this investigation.

We found the truck abandoned in a field
about five miles north of Horton,

Kansas. It was stolen.

Latents? The agents are processing him
now. The wounded guard's going over

mugshots of Harlan Slade's family and
judging by their records, they're

dangerous.

According to that prison report, Slade
refused to receive visitors until a few

months ago.

Then a couple of his relatives started
visiting him, rather regularly, probably

planning his escape.

Maybe another burglary. He was never
known for his patience.

Mr. Ward, the guard identified the
mugshot of Charles Wicker to be the man

shot him.

He was one of his visitors.

Identification division matched his
fingerprints with some of the elatance

in the abandoned panel truck.

They also identified prints from the
chuck wagon where the intercom cable had

been torn out to be those of Bud Munsey.

That's his brother -in -law.

Any word on Barney Hoyle?

state court on charges of aiding Slade
in his escape and assault with a deadly

weapon.
