On the morning of May 24th, two armed
men robbed the Portland National Bank of

Oregon and escaped with $38 ,000.

FBI Inspector Lewis Erskine, who had
been investigating a series of bank

robberies in the Pacific Northwest, took
charge of the investigation when it

appeared that Vernon Spear, a 10 Most
Wanted fugitive, was involved in the

robbery.

Inspector, some of that stolen money was
in new currency.

Packages of $50 bills still in sequence.

Those are the serial numbers.
