Following an attempted break -in on a
United States Marine Corps armory and

critical wounding of Sergeant Sam Riker,
authorities notified the San Francisco

office of the FBI.

Assistant Director Arthur Ward, on an
inspection of the Western offices,

on -the -scene supervision of the
investigation.

How is Sergeant Riker?

He's in extremely critical condition.

One of the marine range masters at
Quantico is named Sam Riker.

He was just leaving when I arrived, but
if it's the same man, Lou knew him quite

well. You remember him, right?

How did these men get on the base?

The preliminary report was they cut
through a rear perimeter fence.

They surprised the sentry at the armory
and knocked him unconscious.

They took his rifle, but they left it
there after the assault on Riker.

lock, but they failed.

It's possible that they were frightened
off by the approach of a truck with the

relief guard.

They discovered the sentry and sounded
the alert.

Could he describe the men who attacked
him?

White, male, early 20s. One of them had
light hair.

on it matches one of the numbers on the
stolen weapons.

instructions.

All these main access roads been
covered? Yes, and the units report no

property. Prosecution of Diane Britt was
declined.
