John

Graham Evans, bank robber

and parolee from a federal penitentiary,
was to become one of the nation's ten

most wanted criminals.

The unidentified man found in his room
had been strangled, and Evans was

declared a parole violator and murder
suspect.

FBI assistance in locating him was
requested by the United States Board of

Parole in Washington, D .C.

Oh, Lewis.

May I speak to you for a minute?

Do you remember a bank robber named John
Evans?

Yeah, why?

He was released two months ago.

Well, this parole board just called.
Looks like he strangled a man in

Wilmington. When?

Between 8 .30 and 9 this evening.

Hotel manager said he saw him come in
with the victim about 8 .25.

9 .03, he had another visitor.

A man named Warren, who just happens to
be his parole officer.

Warren stayed with him until 9 .15 when
he left, and Evans followed him out just

a minute later.

The maid found the body in the closet.

So what about motive?

Did anyone hear a fight?

No, not a thing. And it doesn't seem to
have been robbery, because Evans told

the parole officer he'd been down
cashing his check that evening, and

$44 in the victim's wallet.

But I know Evans.

He wouldn't pass up a dime unless he saw
15 cents further on.

I've talked to the director already.

Evans' name will go on the end most
wanted list tomorrow, but you're

the cases of now.

I'm going to start a neighborhood search
with emphasis on any place in my cash

payroll checks.

freights.

Agent searching the neighborhood located
a gas station attendant who said Evans

and two other men were in his place last
night around 8 o 'clock.

He identified the dead man from photos
as one of those two men.

He heard them talking about a heist but
thought they were joking.
