The final papers were mailed to her care
of general delivery in San Jose.

the firing pin indentations on both

casings. They were fired from the same
weapon.

John Duquesne.

He was here in San Jose when Severance
was killed, and later he was married

briefly to a girl Severance had been
dating. We're trying to locate her now.

The day before he was killed, he made
two long -distance phone calls to

Duquesne's office.

Sounds as though he was setting his

wife and threatened to kill her.

The Durham police arrested him in a bar
and took a .45 away from him. He picked

up 60 days in the county jail.

In the meantime, the Durham police sent
the gun to the lab for comparison.

We determined it hadn't been used in any
unsolved homicide, so we sent it back

to them.

And they retained the weapon until
Benton's body was found.

examiners and investigative leads

by Irene Davis, FBI agents were able to
directly link John Duquesne to the

murder of Marine Sergeant Frank
Severance.

Duquesne was convicted of first degree
murder and is now serving a life

sentence.
