Robert Griswold, kidnapped from a Kansas
City office building on the evening of

June 7th, had been missing for eight
days.

Unknown to the FBI, Griswold's ransom
was to be $3 million, stolen from the

counting vault of Hill Dempsey, a
brokerage firm in San Diego.

There were only two slim clues as to the
identity of the criminals and the

whereabouts of their victim.

One of the kidnappers was known to
frequent Chinese restaurants, and the

kidnapped vehicle had been identified as
a recently purchased camper.

Well, sir, anything new?

Did you find that poor kid?

Not yet.

But I think we've got a lead on the man
who bought the camper.

Halpern? Do you recognize him?

There's no key to that one. We'll have
to cut through with a torch.

Behind that gate, three and a half
million in cold cash.

Dempsey where you can splice into the

circuit? There's a manhole near 18th and

dropped after the theft of a Bancroft
