Am I a witch?

You're my witch.

I'm just looking for Tessa.

I need to talk to her.

Tessa's not in her room.

She's pregnant.

If he is not with her

and he's not with you,

where is he?

In her hour of greatest need,

it's me that she'll call for.

- If you're willing to give her power,

it is only because her power will strengthen you.

Mi Daemon, mihi labora!

Mi Daemon, me libera!

Stop.

- You must stop. - I won't.

- You called me to do your will.

Let me do it.

Go.

Find him!

Do it.

Do it.

Call me when you know.

Well?

Spit it out.

Tessa's dead...

shot by the people who kidnapped her.

They're all dead, too.

- Rowan. - Yes.

But she's all right.

I mean, she's there with the family?

- No. Gone before they got there.

- Gone? Where?

Well, are they looking for her?

Call 'em back. Call 'em back.

No, no, no. G-give me my phone.

What's going on?

Why this obsession with Rowan?

Give me my phone!

No!

I've shared everything with you.

How many times have I given you a glimpse of the future

so you could get ahead and...

Even when it went against my own conscience?

So now I'm asking you, whether you want to or not,

show me the same respect.

Just...

Tell me the truth.

Where are you?

- Yes, I can see the fire from here.

All right.

- I'm so sorry for my outburst, sir.

You're an empath.

With a gift like yours, how could you not be?

But you can't let it control you.

I want to thank you for trusting me

with the truth.

I'm ready to walk in whatever direction you point me.

- Mm, you'll do what's asked of you.

I will, sir.

I wondered why you were given such a senior position

when you had no apparent gift.

But you do have a gift.

Have I learned this about you before?

- Your ability to erase? - Perhaps.

You can get out of the car if you want.

But you won't get far.

These are things you must be made to forget.

- But why wipe the hotel at the Pontchartrain?

The Talamasca had nothing to do with that.

- There's no point in me telling you.

You won't remember.

You're doing this for Lasher.

He told you to kill Deirdre.

I would never kill a witch.

- But you cleaned up afterwards.

A favor for an ally.

Was it Cortland Mayfair?

He owns the hotel.

Why would Cortland hire someone to kill Deirdre?

The prophecy.

- We have different reasons for our interest.

Close your eyes. This isn't gonna hurt.

Before you erase me, sir,

you should know that I'm a part of the prophecy.

Rowan Mayfair is having my child.

- Who told you that? - Lasher did.

He took me to one of his memories.

I have to be with her at the end.

Hmm.

You must understand

that there are many elders in the Talamasca,

who, like me, believe that not only is this meant to happen,

but we are meant to watch it happen.

If you wipe me now,

the prophecy won't be fulfilled.

I won't know enough to do my part.

Go.

My man will go with you.

He's dead.

Yes.

So is Tessa...

my mother.

Everybody's dead.

They're all part of this.

But not you.

Not yet.

Don't stop.

Half measures.

I'll pass out before I can crawl out of here.

Can you look deeper?

- The place you see holds the knowledge

of your ancestors.

What language is this?

My language.

- Teach me. - Come.

Where are we?

Where it began.

This is the New Orleans office.

Hello, this is Odette Grieve.

I'm trying to get in touch with my brother, Ciprien.

- There's nobody here by that name.

Please.

I know that it's all supposed to be a secret,

but I'm worried for my brother's life.

I've been calling for days, and he hasn't answered.

- I'm sorry. You've made a mistake.

- There were things that he was supposed to show up for...

important things.

And he hasn't even called.

Please, please.

If you can't tell me anything,

then what about the other people that he works with?

T-there was a-an Indian woman, a sort of healer.

- I'm sorry. I can't help you.

There's been a breach.

Hello?

Anyone here?

Hi.

I need to talk to Cortland Mayfair.

I tried the front, but no one answered.

- My father's not able to see anyone at the moment.

- I was sent my boss to help him with an urgent matter.

You're here about Rowan.

Wait here.

Her name was Suzanne.

- She was a healer. - And a midwife.

The first Mayfair witch.

She learned your language.

There was a pact we made.

- She left these markings here for you.

For me?

- The culmination of all her knowledge.

This is the answer.

Could they all do this?

Only you, the 13th witch.

- I can heal myself, but can I heal other people?

If you want to, you can.

It only gets better from here.

You only get better.

What else do you want to do?

- All the elements I command are now yours, too.

You will do great things.

It's healed.

And this?

Let's stay here for a while.

Come on, come on.

Come on, what could it be?

It's you. Oh.

Please tell me you know where he is.

Let's talk inside.

- So where is he? Is... is he all right?

He's fine.

- If he was fine, he would've called me.

You just gave birth.

- He was supposed to be with me.

He promised.

Tell me how you know he's fine.

- I was with him earlier...

A complicated work situation, a crisis.

Sit.

I'll explain everything. Sit.

And then you and I can call him together, hmm?

What did you just see?

Uh, uh, is your father coming down?

- I know that look. You saw something.

- Please, take me to your father.

- I'll take you when you tell me what you just saw.

Hey, I-I care about Rowan, too. Just tell me.

- Your father's also Rowan's father.

- No, Rowan's father was a boy Deirdre met at a party.

No, it is your father.

He raped Deirdre so that Rowan would be born.

And then he had her killed

so that Rowan would come into her power.

- No. Fuck you.

Let's go ask him together.

- He's gone. I don't know where.

Terrific.

Wait.

Deirdre was wearing my dress the night she died.

He's never explained that, but now...

She came to him for help, and he...

Did he set her up?

- "The 13th witch is the doorway."

Lasher?

Where are you?

Tell me where you are!

What is happening?

- Follow the path of your ancestors to the end.

Where are you?

I'll be there with you

at the witching hour.

What?

Hello?

Where am I?

Who are you?

Lasher, help me!

Is this a terrible idea?

Maybe.

- Where's the room? - Um, second floor in the back.

- The hands on the clock are changing.

He said something about the hour.

What did you say?

What did you mean?

Answer me!

I want to wake up now.

Here she is.

- At any ritual to receive a prophecy,

this would have been present?

Yes.

Okay.

He said, "Over the bones of the foremothers."

- Uh, t-the mausoleum.

There's no place more sacred than that.

- And all the bones of the designees are there?

Yeah, so they say.

- You're talking about the prophecy?

- How do you know about that? - Because it's happening.

- Of course. Rowan's pregnant.

Lasher's ripening is counted in hours, not months.

- He's coming now. - He must be.

You're gonna stay right here

and tell me everything you know.

Oh.

He's coming.

Let's clean you up and dress you up.

Antha?

Mi daemon, ad me veni. Mi daemon, mihi labora!

12:00.

He's coming.

- Lasher... what has he done?

He's run out the clock.

It's the witching hour.

He will be embodied.

Where is he?

He's with you already.

The 13th witch is the doorway.

The doorway for him.

No.

No!

No!

- Don't be angry with yourself.

Of course you didn't see it.

You love him.

I've known him since he was a child...

selfish as can be.

He fooled me, too.

We can't let this be the story

of our family.

It's time someone else was in charge of things.

Where am I?

- Who are you? - No, no.

Please, I want to go.

You're Suzanne?

I'm not in labor.

- I'm sorry, sir. We had no idea she was here.

I'm not sure Sip even knew.

Hmm.

- Why did you bring me here and let me see this?

- Oh, to make sure I removed the whole incident.

If she doesn't recognize you when she wakes up,

I'll know my work is done.

- And then you'll erase me, too?

I'm glad you understand.

Mm.

Oh, I need to take this.

Yes?

- It's time for me to play my part, sir.

And what is that?

If I'm going to protect her,

I need to keep Lasher away from her.

- I told you our role is to watch.

- And you also said that this will be

the most powerful supernatural being the world has ever seen.

Surely, watching it... Him... Lasher up close

falls under our purview.

Why else have you done all of this?

- Hmm. I suppose a case can be made.

So you will help me?

How will you get him?

- I'm going to take him from her.

She trusts me.

Mm.

All right.

I'll prepare things. Call me when you have him.

Tell me...

is she lactating?

- Yes. Why?

- I'm sure she'd like to help her brother.

Call transport. She's coming with us.

Shh.

Right.

Oh, great.

Push.

Ahh!

Ah!

Aye.

No!

Aye.

Wait here.

But be ready to drive.

- No! Stop!

Don't move.

- I-I just want to help him.

- Like you helped me by bringing me here?

What?

No, I did that...

I did it for the family.

No.

You've never done anything that wasn't entirely selfish.

No, don't do that!

You know you don't want this.

Leave him. Walk out the doors.

Go back to San Francisco.

What he offers, his power...

It's a weight.

You got to be strong enough not just to lift it,

but to carry it, to wield it.

I mean, come on, now. You're not ready.

You have no idea

what I'm capable of.

Go ahead.

Do it.

I'm dying anyway.

Kill me.

It worked.

Immortality...

a gift...

for helping him fulfill the prophecy.

You can't hurt me.

Now give him to me.

I know how to use him.

No, he's mine now.

- No, no, no. You give him to...

I know what he knows.

I know what you did to my mother.

Sip.

I had to find you.

I'm glad you did.

Who's this?

My son.

Our son.

Yes.

Let's get out of here.

- Let's go back to the house, the three of us.

How about my place?

- We'll be happy in the house...

like we were before.

Here, you're tired.

Let me carry him.

Someone's here with you.

Is it Talamasca?

No.

Who, then?

- Just someone who helped me find you.

You're lying.

I trusted you, and you're lying to me.

Rowan, please.

I-I'm here to help.

If you just let me carry him for you...

Ah!

He's inside your head.

Because he's part of me.

- No! This isn't you, Rowan!

Aah!

Please, don't let him do this.

- He's not doing it. I am.

I am trying to help you.

- By doing what they did to my mother...

Taking my child?

No, no, no, no.

He'll use you,

manipulate you.

You can't control him.

You can't control me.

and the whole episode is really about

the fulfilling of the prophecy that was based on the pact

between Suzanne and Lasher

where he is going to move into a body.

Find him!

Lasher killing Keith by fire seemed absolutely appropriate,

because of the fires that have burned witches.

Do it.

But really, it's an element that he controls.

It felt absolutely appropriate to Lasher's power

and his control of those elements.

Everybody's dead.

But not you.

Rowan is in such a terrible state

because she has been shot by one of the witch hunters

and she's bleeding out, so she's very, very weak,

almost as if she's willing to let herself go.

She's aware of the cycle of nature,

of the way we return to the earth,

and she doesn't know how to save herself

as she lies there and bleeds in the forest.

She's almost ready to go herself.

Lasher says, "Not you. Not yet."

So there is this strange tunnel.

Rowan has been seeing it since the pilot.

She doesn't know what this is,

and in this moment in the woods,

Lasher is saying to her, "Look deeper,"

and she begins to understand

that this tunnel is a place of knowledge.

What language is this?

My language.

Teach me.

Come.

She needs to go inside of herself

in order to be able to try to heal herself

and heal this gunshot wound that she has.

He opens a door

and leads her into Suzanne's cottage.

Now, we should understand

that this is happening inside of her mind,

that all of this is ancestral knowledge

that is there inside of her, it's psychological.

She left these markings here for you.

The culmination of all her knowledge.

She is on this journey that will teach her how to heal.

This is the answer.

And she does, and she heals herself.

She heals that wound.

This is the culmination of her experience

of connecting with Lasher.

She has all of that now and his power.

She's going to be great.

Could they all do this?

Only you, the 13th witch.

Every element that Lasher commands

is now hers to command,

and it's like this intoxicating feeling.

It only gets better from here.

You only get better.

And it leads to this moment of real connection

and to this magnetic sex scene between the two of them,

which, again, is happening inside of her mind.

This episode is full of

astonishingly terrible revelations for Cip.

It's Albrecht who's working with Cortland,

and Cip begins to understand it's because

they both have an interest in

the fulfillment of this prophecy.

He's piecing together all sorts of stories.

We see pieces of Mayfair history.

Cortland is Rowan's father.

Cortland impregnated Deirdre because he wanted to

bring Rowan into the world, the 13th witch,

because Rowan is going to be the fulfillment

of this prophecy.

What did you just see?

Lasher?

Rowan is already pregnant.

We know that, but there's something about

this moment with Lasher that changes things.

She doesn't understand yet that somehow,

by being with him, he has entered into this baby

in her body, and is going to be born,

as the prophecy has said.

What is happening?

He's run out the clock, essentially,

by keeping her mind in a state of confusion,

Lasher has had time to be born.

12:00.

He's coming.

What he offers is power.

It's a weight.

Come on, now, you're not ready.

You have no idea what I'm capable of.

What Rowan is responding to in this moment with this child

is the knowledge that this child,

Lasher, gives her power.

He's mine now.

No, no, no, no. You give him to me!

Somebody else is gonna pick up that power,

or she can have it.

She wants it,

and she cannot resist that.

I know what he knows.

I know what you did to my mother.

She can feel, I think, even as she pick up that baby,

that she has command of all of the powers

that Lasher had.

Here. You're tired.

Let me carry him.

Rowan really is tired of men

telling her what she can and can't control.

Someone's here with you.

Is it Talamasca?

No.

If the story has worked right,

Cip should feel completely sort of deranged at this point.

I mean, he is, by the end of this,

behaving like Carlotta.

To him, it's like Lasher is manipulating her mind.

He has to save her from this.

I trusted you and you're lying to me.

Rowan, please.

I... I'm here to help.

If you'd just let me carry him for you.

It's really interesting to watch this character

that I hope we love and feel for

and feel as this great empath, Ciprien,

suddenly turn into this other kind of person.

You can't control him!

You can't control me.

She makes a choice at the end.

She bets on herself and her own power,

and I hope we're asking ourselves,

"Will she use it well? Was Cip right?"

All of those questions are the questions that

we're asking ourselves as we go into the writer's room

in Season 2.
