Sadly, John Snyder could not be here,
but he will indeed be missed. But

from the best fans in the world? Yeah.

Now, her character.

Hannah Young was the last woman
standing.

Did you? Oh, my goodness, that finale.

Ms. Crystal Fox.

I mean,

Crystal, what's it like to be here
together today, everyone? I think it's a

moment we've been waiting for because
we've had a phenomenal eight years,

seasons, but we have never fully gotten
to say how appreciative we are to the

fans.

You recently tweeted this about the
final half season.

Quote, let's ride this thing till the
wheels fall off.

What are you going to miss the most?

My family. But my family is this family
and it's this family.

I'm not very much into social media. But
when we had to tweet, it was so fun

because I felt even more connected to
you.

And so I feel like this is just an
extended family. And I'm going to miss

that every week.

So much to talk about, but let's first
take a look at Hannah's extraordinary

side and why.

You really love God.

I do.

You really hope to see him one day.

Yes.

And come back around here or around me
ever again. And I promise you,

I'm going to put you on that trip to see
him.

Sooner than you think.

Who else but you, Sister Crystal Fox,
could have played that role?

God told me to stop praying for you. He
told me. So he did this?

God took him. You took him with your

We all just love seeing Hannah go from
being the crier's maid.

So does that mean I'm hired?

Now, what were you saying to me, Jim,
about what I have or have not?

But the one moment I don't think any of
us will ever forget is you singing,

there's a leak in this old building. Oh,
my goodness. When you did that, you

were singing to Catherine Cryer when she
was in the hospital.

I called up Tyler. I said, who knew
Crystal could sing?

He said, told you. Well, this old
building keeps on leaning and my soul

to move.

They're going to put me out of this
house.

Crystal, you don't sing. You sang.

You got the voice of our ancestors down
there in your throat.

That's where I went with that.

That was just, I mean, so much to just
wow, right?

I think we all want to know what it felt
like to take Jim Cryer out.

What did that feel like?

I don't want to say that it felt good.
It felt necessary.

That's the best thing I can say because
that kind of evil, it just kept going

and kept going. And he killed my child
just without any kind of remorse. And he

had always been a threat to our lives.
And so in that moment, he had to go.

It was necessary. How many takes did you
request?

I don't request.

Any particular take? Let me tell you
what. Tyler, if he likes it, he just

captures it. And he'll ask you, are you
good with that? If you need another one,

he'll let you do it. What was funny to
me was it was very few. So I thought, I

guess I ran over him well.

Hello. My name is Dakota from Baltimore,
Maryland. My question is for the

legendary Miss Crystal Fox.

What has been your favorite moment of
faith for Hannah?

And your favorite prayer that she prayed
for.

Thank you.

I don't know if it was a prayer as much
as it was a song choice.

When Benny was in the hospital, first of
all, when you take on a role like this,

you realize you have the responsibility
of what you bring into people's homes.

So my intention was always to bring you
all and your stories into your home and

have a voice.

And my grandmother was a minister until
she was 89 and she died at 99.

always went to a place of prayer, the
darker the moment got.

And when he was in the hospital and
there was the idea that he might die, I

asked Tyler if I could sing a song, and
it was her favorite song, and that was,

this is my story, this is my song. And
when he let me do it, the focus was so

clear that it's making my face tingle
now, that it was a directed, specific,

purposeful song and prayer of...

Hope that I could endure whatever
happened, but I wanted my child to get

Oh,

I

just want to be like Abraham I want to I
want to but you got to help me I

Want you to heal

If you don't, I'll serve you anyway,
God.

I'll serve you anyway.

That's one of my favorite ones.

I know we have someone in the audience
who has a question specifically for you,

meet all of you, but Crystal Fox.

You have to understand, I've been
married for 42 years.

This is your wife, right, Angela? This
is my wife right here.

So I can ask this question with her

What's the key to 42 years before we go
any further?

42 years. He stays in the computer room
a lot, and I'm in another room.

Yeah. But let me just say, 42 years of
marriage, but on Tuesday nights,

it was Hannah.

He left me for Hannah every Tuesday.

Which leads me to my question for you.

I want to know, How much input do you
have on your love interest for your next

project? And I would love to read for
that role.

Sam, Mr. Sam, you're a brave man. You
must have a death wish with your wife

characters that became my love interest
on the show to feel the chemistry out.

What is Tika like in real life in
comparison to Candace?

She's very caring.

She loves her family.

She's very caring of her four siblings.

She makes sure things are done. She is a
boss.

But she's a good boss.

And she always makes sure that I'm taken
care of no matter what.

So, Ms. Janice, do you have a favorite
scene of the whole show?

My favorite scene is her asking her
mother, Crystal, for forgiveness.

Because as a child, as a mother.

You should always forgive your child, no
matter what they do.

Every day I wake up and wonder if

Well, I guess it's safe to say maybe we
all have a little Veronica in us.

Yes, we do.

And you say that often.

Yes. You care to elaborate?

Yes, I think everyone has a little
Veronica in them, and the only thing

separates them from one type of Veronica
and another is good home training in

Jesus. So if you missed out on good home
training in Jesus, you might be the one

with the lighter yourself one day.

Well, I'll say you were hands down like
the best villainess ever, ever.

You said the thing that some of us may
have wanted to say.

You did some of the things we would have
never thought to do but got great ideas

from watching you.

But, I mean, just the spice that you
added to the screen.

Now that Veronica is gone, which I
thought... Veronica's gone? I didn't

No, but when we saw them shoot your
character, I was like, no, she's coming

again. But now that she is gone...

What do you have to say about her?

Well, I don't know.

I don't know. We don't know.

But, you know, first of all, I just I
want to say thank you. I want to say

you to you guys.

And, you know, I don't get to get very
emotional on the show, but I'm pretty

much a crybaby in life. So I just really
appreciate.

um your love and running into you and
those of you who couldn't tell the

difference between veronica and angela i
love you and i love those of you who

could and so i you know i want to say
thank you i want to say thank you to

everybody on this stage i

have to say your craft and what you

bring is amazing

working with her and just what something
so separate from her from who she is as

a person and i remember when your
character was first changing you would

some of these lines go i don't even
understand this but you played it like

exactly what was going on so just just

i have so much respect for you and have
so loved working with you

And now, Angela, I understand you had
the ultimate pleasure of working with

Oprah when she produced The Color Purple
on Broadway.

Yes. Wow.

one of the main producers on the show.
And we didn't find out until we had

started rehearsing and everything. And
they had us all gather in rehearsal. And

they said, we want to introduce you to
our latest producer.

And we all got together like we ready to
go home, y 'all.

And here in walks Oprah. And it was a
huge moment for us. It truly changed my

life because I had done three Broadway
shows prior.

And they don't run sometimes.

So when Oprah watched it, I was like,
ooh, this thing might run.

Well, here's what Oprah says about the
ice queen.

There's a hurricane coming, and her name
is Veronica.

And when this bitch hits, it destroys
everything you've ever known.

Now, Veronica Harrington. Whoa.

So evil.

So cold.

She got her very own nickname, the Ice
Queen, and no one could have played her

as well with as much of the devil in her
as you have done, Angela.

You're wicked.

Yeah, I am.

Did you think I was going to get the
maid to clean it up?

Enjoy cleaning.

We cannot count how many outrageous
things Veronica did and said over the

Who is this? I don't know who the hell
that is. From the looks of things, it

looks like somebody who needs a facial,
a bath, and some antibiotics.

Ah, Veronica, why does everything have
to be such a damn effort with you?

Because I'm a queen, and I require
maintenance.

I certainly hope you've had fun playing
her, because, wow, have you taken us on

a ride. Like the time when she told
Jeffrey, who gave you the right to be a

homosexual? Well, who gave you that
right? Who?

Veronica, this is ridiculous.

No, it isn't.

Jeffrey, you're being selfish.

Selfish? Yeah, this is all about you.

Mom, I'm just trying to tell you this.
Shut up!

It was so hardened. It was so mean. It
was, I don't know where you pull that up

from, but, oh, God, I still get chills
thinking about that scene.

Because of Angela, Veronica will now go
down as one of the most iconic villains

on TV.

Veronica?

That's my name.

I wear it well, don't I?

So, Angela, I hear you used to take
issue with people calling Veronica

but not anymore?

Well, I still do a little bit, but I
think for the first... Peter's looking

me.

I think for the first, I would say, six
seasons, I would go to interviews and

people would say, oh, she's crazy,
Veronica's crazy, and I would defend it,

would defend it, because I really feel
that...

You know, men get to play villains all
the time and they get called ruthless

they get called powerful and they get
called evil, but rarely do they get

crazy. And so I thought when a woman
steps up and she's just as evil and just

ruthless and just as powerful, you want
to call her crazy? No, she know

everything she's doing.

So I didn't, I took issue with it. But
then Tyler went some places.

After about season seven, I was doing an
interview, and they said, she crazy. I

was like, yeah.

I was like, yeah, she might be a little,
you know.

We're going to be right back with a
whole lot more. We're getting it out.

getting the answers to all of your
questions. A whole lot more of the haves

the have nots.

Saying goodbye to this moment is very
difficult for me.

Well, you kind of got me when I said,
well, she died. And you were like, but

she? Maybe she had a body double come
out in that black outfit.

And did Peter die in the explosion? I
mean, there's so many questions.

Tyler's in the back right now writing a
new show called Veronica.

Let's take another audience question,
though. Where's Karen?

Oh, my Karen. Karen Greer.

Yes. Karen Greer.

Hello.

Huge fan, huge fan. My gosh, you have
turned that role into something

and I agree. I don't think you're dead.

I think that's that maid that likes to
dress like you that got killed. But

anyway, my question is, I've heard you
do interviews, and you've said that you

had to actually audition a couple of
times for this role.

You didn't get it the first time, and
you thought perhaps you needed to...

Push it up a notch. Talk about that. Oh,
thank you, Karen.

So I was in Atlanta doing a musical
called Into the Woods, playing the

And the casting director and one of the
producers from the studio had come to

see it.

And they invited me to come and audition
for Meet the Browns and to have one

scene on Meet the Browns. And I thought
I had hit the lottery. I was like, oh,

I'm going to do this scene. And I did
not get that part. But a year and a half

later. was when I got the call to
audition for Veronica.

And so the moral for anybody in here who
has a dream or who's trying to do

something and who's been rejected a lot,
just understand that that no is just

maybe not now.

It means next opportunity. I love that.
So the half and a half nods turned out

to be...

So much better. And Veronica turned out
to be a dream come true for me. Yeah,

God had something bigger planned for
you. Look at that. Did you get backlash

all from people who just could not
understand? That was my character.

This is me.

When people come up to me and say, I
just love you, I get a little, like,

about her do you love?

Because I want to always be sure it's
not her homophobia.

The gay community has been one of my
most supportive.

In the very beginning, it was hard for
me to consider being so hated, but what

tried to do was represent the stories of
my friends.

And I knew so many people who had come
out and who had so much resistance and

much rejection.

And so I felt like if I represented
those people well and truthfully, that

would see themselves and they would say,
that's not me. Like, I don't want to be

that. and maybe they will approach it
differently if their children came out

them. So it was difficult being so hard,
but at the same time I found it

necessary. And every season I came back
wanting her to be nice, and one of our

hairstylists said to me, I don't know if
this helps, but it took my mom 25 years

to accept me.

And so I know you want to be you want
you guys to hug it out today.

But what's what you guys are doing is
what happened in my life.

And so you're representing real life.
And that's why we're so connected. And

was important.

It was important to play that out in
this show. I think it's one of the

storylines.

that changed lives in the biggest way,
really. I think it gave people courage.

It gave others compassion.

Sometimes also for people who may have
felt the way Veronica felt, to see it

play out on TV made them realize, wow,
I'm really not being a good...

person here you know so thank you thank
you thank you for all that ugliness

before the show we pulled the audience
to find out who they thought had the

shocking death during the season finale
was it veronica getting double crossed

and gunned down or did she jim drowning
candace in the bathtub my david and

jeffrey getting blown up by officer
justin's brother tanner

Catherine getting strangled in prison. I
didn't like that. I have feelings about

that one.

Wyatt overdosing.

And then Hannah running over Jim with
her car.

Oh, wait a minute, but can we not
forget?

My Benny, my baby, getting shot by the
Malone.

Well, the result, when we come back, I
know who I'm voting for.

Actors have a shelf life.

Black actors very rarely get an
opportunity like this.

Do you understand what it's like to lose
a child?

Remember?

I told you I had nothing to do with
that.

Inadvertently, you did.

So are you telling me that you
inadvertently had my son killed?

I don't forget anything, bitch.

We all know it takes a certain kind of
actor to play a character that we also,

we love and we hate at the same time.
And John did that.

I have a plan, but it requires me in a
hotel room with another woman.

It always requires you to be in a room
with a woman. Your wife is a cold

-blooded bitch.

What the hell do you think I'm going to
do?

I told you.

Even at his worst, we still wanted to
see what Jim would do next, all the way

the very, very end.

Get out of my car!

Get out of here!

I hate all you crazy bitches!

Get out! Son of a bitch!

Snyder as the evil to the core.

Wasn't he just evil? Just mean?

Jim Crider.

Okay, now it is time to reveal the
series finale's most shocking death

Who do you think it is, truly?

Yeah?

Well, according to the audience, roll
the tape.

Now I know why they put me in here with
you.

So I can kill your ass.

I had enjoyed every single solitary
second of filming that thing.

I've always wanted to have a big
dramatic death scene.

Like, you know, shoot him.

I'm coming, Elizabeth. Whatever, you
know. I've always wanted to have this

scene. But that was actually a little
too real for comfort. It's one thing

you get shot and you're like, you know.
But to have the actual rope around your

neck was a whole different.

experience. But what do they say as
actors, right? If you gotta die, die

I love the relationship between your
character and Crystal's character. That

friendship. That was so endearing. I'm
telling you.

I had an instant connection with her.
And day one is many gloriously,

fantastically wonderful scenes that I've
had the honor to play with the

beautiful Angela Robinson and everyone
sitting in here.

To this date, my all -time favorite
scene is the closet scene with Crystal

she comes about her breast cancer. And
when they have that moment, and on the

first time on national television, this
beautiful woman prayed over somebody.

Praise Jesus.

No one knows.

Not even your husband?

No.

Father God, I come before you right now
on behalf of my sister, Catherine.

Lord Jesus, we ask you to look down
right now, Lord God, and through your

we ask you to take the poison that is
supposed to be healing and give it the

power that is your blood that is the
true healing.

That was the connection that I think
carried over with our characters for the

eight seasons. And I love her to the
moon and back and all the stars around.

I found I found my purpose through y
'all.

And it just it goes without saying that,
you know, I wouldn't be here as a as a

man, as a as an actor, as an artist
without.

your support and without your love that
you show up every single Tuesday.

All my love goes out to Tyler Perry for
taking a chance on me. My love to Oprah

Winfrey. And I just wanted to say from
the bottom of my heart, man, I love each

and every one of y 'all. Y 'all gonna be
the hardest thing to say goodbye to.

I love y 'all.

You know, I think one of the things I'm
gonna really miss is...

Coming into work and laying whatever
burden I have down at the feet of

my friend.

And them picking me back up even when
they don't know that something is really

wrong.

Or just

knowing that we really are in this up.

grateful that god has brought every

person in on this stage into my life and
um tyler perry obviously who

believed in all of us and has pushed us
to dream bigger and dream more and

oprah winfrey for giving her the first
drama on own a shot and um

And I have to say, I think you fans
don't understand how it could be one

you say during the day that you don't
know what's going on in our own lives.

Just the other day, somebody said
something and I needed it. The

and the love.

And I have to say, you guys are
incredible.

Like, these are tears of joy and love.
Thank you for your support.

I'm a crybaby, and I'm really sensitive.
So thank you, thank you, thank you. I

love you guys.

I think we need some tissues.

Actors have a shelf life.

People don't quite get that.

Black actors very rarely get an
opportunity like this.

Some people's careers go on. People
nurture other artists, and they take

through an entire lifetime of a career.
We don't get that. We don't get the

opportunities to act and grow and go on
to better things.

You hope that you have an opportunity
for that to happen.

But we know people who have an entire
career, and it never happens.

So to be able to come in your homes as a
maid and be the matriarch of a family,

I had such hope that what I would bring
to you would mean and resonate with you.

And you all are the reason.

That any of us are famous or celebrities
or whatever. And I never lose sight of

that. If it doesn't reach you, I have
not served my purpose.

And you are the reason that I'm
confident now. And I

have to say, Tyler gave me that as well.
He believed in me. He made me

know he allowed me to trust myself.

So if I never do another thing, you've
given me the greatest gift of anyone as

an actor. Thank you.

I will miss being in the presence of
Tyler Perry every year.

There's something about coming out of
that that left me totally drained and

totally motivated.

at the same time.

And I'll miss that.

I will miss you guys.

But mainly, I think, although I will be
friends with everyone up here forever,

there's nothing like that personal
encounter that you get in person

that you know you're going to get once a
year.

So the thought of not having that

I think is what leaves me a bit
emotional.

My mother passed away last month.

And this girl, she called me and she
said, you doing all right? And I don't

remember what I said. The next day we
were doing a viewing in New Jersey. She

lives in Atlanta.

And she called me and she said, I'm
here.

I couldn't sleep if I stayed home, so
I'm here.

Beautiful people that Tyler put
together, and that's his gift.

He just knows how to do that.

He blessed us with his presence.

He blessed us with connecting us.

And I guess the best gift that we can
give to him is to never lose that

and to always be.

Together, not just us, but you two.

To always be connected.

When I was offered the part, I was like,
it's Tyler

Perry and Oprah Winfrey.

I said, if nothing else, this is going
to be historic television.

And I want to be part of it.

And I didn't know I would get this.

Been blessed to be a working actor for
40 years.

And I've never had this on Miss
Crystal's house.

House parties.

So much fun.

Tyler walked out barefoot, forgetting he
left his shoes in the house.

I'm not a very social person.

It's weird.

I know, right?

Didn't think we were going to do this.

You kind of fall back on, I'll catch you
next season.

That's it.

What can be said that hasn't already
been said?

I first want to just acknowledge

the people on the stage and just say
thank you.

I don't know that I could have done this
with a better set of genuine, just

real, caring people. When I got this
role, I was just like, I don't know if I

can do this. I don't know how I can do
this because it's something I've never

done before. I didn't know if I was
enough. I didn't know if I could honor

And there were some days that I went to
work scared.

unsure of myself.

And then I would see these people and
I'd be like, I'm going to be just fine.

I'm safe.

So thank you.

I also have to thank Tyler, Tyler Perry,
for taking a chance on me, for pulling

me off camera, stopping everything and
saying, you got this. I know you got

this. I have to thank Oprah Winfrey for
this opportunity.
