[brooding music playing]

[reporter] In the Canary Islands, the destruction from the tsunami

is massive.

West Africa and Southern Europe have also seen massive damages.

[reporter 2] All along the eastern coastlines

of both North and South America, people are bracing for impact.

[reporter 3] The civil guard and military are doing everything they can

to locate and rescue the remaining survivors.

[reporter 4] The images suggest this is the largest natural disaster

we have ever experienced.

[reporter 5] Though the extent of the damage is unclear,

we are receiving messages and pictures of the tsunami's devastating effects.

We do know the destruction is enormous.

From coastal areas in West Africa, South America, the USA,

and, of course, Europe.

With so many people and such a vast area affected,

we now face a catastrophe that will leave a lasting impact on us.

-[sighs] -[knock at door]
