We came to Austin from California about four

years ago.

Kyle and Al were living in Manhattan, and

they had their first daughter and quickly learned

that it takes a village with a baby.

I have an amazing relationship with my daughter,

Paige.

And my daughter-in-law, Al, who's really

just my daughter at this point.

We're really close and do a lot of

things together.

Can I just say, I'm so excited to

go on this cruise with you.

I grew up in a really broken family,

and I was an only child, which was

isolating.

And I remember starting to watch Hallmark movies

in junior high.

What I love about Hallmark is it's just

cozy and encompasses everyone and everything, which makes

the Hallmark community so special.

beautifully done.

And then when I met the Vermeer family,

they obviously loved Hallmark, too.

And it was just kind of a really

cute mirroring of both of the things that

we both loved.

And I am Rob.

We have been together for nine years.

We met at the gym.

time.

When we first met, we had both gone

through a divorce.

So we talked as we walked on the

treadmill.

And that's how it all started.

Well, first you broke my ribs.

And I actually broke two of her ribs

adjusting her back on a bench.

I popped it.

So I thought I would never see her

again, much less at the gym.

Well, and we're still together nine years later.

Not one kid has missed Christmas Eve ever.

And we're going to make sure that always

happens.

Between the two of us, we have seven

kids.

Rob has two.

And I have five.

It's the best blended family there is.

Wow, it looks amazing.

All these magnets are the ones that I

made that we're going to put on the

door.

I can't believe you made one of every

Hallmark star.

I think we might be a little Christmas

crazy.

But there's nothing wrong with that.

My mother was always into Christmas growing up.

And Hallmark brings my mother and I together.

They got me into it, you know.

They were watching it when I met them.

And I just got sucked in.

And I loved it because it takes you

to a happy place.

It takes you out of the reality of

life, which is sometimes hard.

What are you going to watch when it's

Christmas and you're in this house?

You can't watch something with sad and something

uplifting.

I mean, sometimes I actually cry.

I don't want to miss this part.

He does cry.

I can't believe he's a man in that.

boxes.

So it's a lot.

I may or may not have stood in

my driveway this weekend like an evil genius

When I get out of church on Sunday,

Some of the actors from the actual movies

are going to be on there.

You know, that hair is like the bomb.

His hair is always so perfect.

I like love and I like togetherness and

just the simple things in life.

I think that's what really attracted me to

Hallmark when I started watching it years ago.

Was like, no matter how you were feeling,

you could turn on Hallmark and you could

always leave feeling like there's hope.

We are ecstatic about this cruise.

From the second we walked on the ship,

the Christmas spirit has been palpable, right?

It's all around you.

I saw a study, actually, that people who

have all their decorations up by November 1st

are actually happier.

This is the first time we're watching a

Christmas tree light together with a countdown and

we've been together nine years.

I don't even know.

I can't believe that we're here, like, together.

You're healthy, right?

I mean, like.

I'm healthy.

It's been a long year for you.

I've had two major surgeries.

So now I am cancer free.

Two reconstruction later.

I have two half sisters.

They both tested positive for a gene called

the ATM gene mutation and they both battled

cancer and have both since passed away from

cancer.

I immediately went and got tested and it

turns out I also had the gene and

probably the best thing for me to do

would be to do this preventative double mastectomy

and I'm back and I'm ready to have

fun.

I'm just so excited to spend the next

couple of days with you guys.

You don't get to do this a lot

in life and I'm so grateful.

Like, seriously, thank you to you for making

it happen.

Thank you for you carving out the time

to actually get here and be totally present.

I know that my mom values the family

being in Texas.

But on this cruise, I need to build

up the courage to deliver some news to

her that might be a little upsetting.

And so I'm just nervous to cause any

ripples or waves, especially when we're having this

wonderful time together.

It means so much.

You just get to enjoy it.

I think it'd be difficult to overstate how

excited we are for this trip.

I mean, I am a stay-at-home

mom of three incredible children, but I'm also

a writer.

And Victoria is a theatrical director and mother

to my beautiful nephew, Robin.

So I thought this would be a perfect

opportunity for us to get uninterrupted sister time

and to put ourselves first for a little

while and to get to sleep.

Just sleep, really.

So before we get too much more into

So Donna got diagnosed with chiarity malformation.

It's a condition where part of the brain

that controls your balance extends into your spinal

canal.

She had to go through brain surgery.

It's not a cure.

It's not a cure, but it helped me.

And it was leaning on my brain stem,

and it could have been bad.

The surgeon had a spot in October.

She said, nope, not until after my Christmas

party.

So she suffered with severe headaches for another

two months.

New Christmas season.

Let's do it.

Just so she could have her Christmas party.

She believes her Christmas party is her...

I wanted to go out in bed.

You got to have pretzels at every party.

It was a wonderful thing to do.

I got to be with all my friends

and my family two days before my surgery.

It was the best decision I made, I

think.

It was really good.

Have you had more headaches?

I've had headaches, but...

I mean, I'm feeling a lot better.

I feel good.

You're all here.

So positive about everything.

You have to be.

You have to be.

Something like this really makes you realize that

all that stuff that we get upset about,

we shouldn't.

You got to enjoy the happy moments.

You got to enjoy your children, your family,

your friends, your pets.

You just don't know what tomorrow brings and

I'm going to enjoy this cruise.

It's a wish come true.

I like that tree in our front yard.

That's a little, that's pushing it a little.

We have a lot of trees, but nothing

like that.

So the health care Donna went through, it

made me more committed to knowing I want

to be with her and spend the rest

of my life with her.

That's why I'm going to propose to her

and hopefully we will get married on the

last day of the cruise.

I just need to find the right moment.

I can't wait for day two.

So it's the Merry Exchange and it is

a lovely time to share Christmas spirit.

We all brought little things that we wanted

to share with other people.

We bought candy cane glow sticks and koozies.

We brought tons of goodies.

There were lots of fun straws that were

a hit.

Some Jingle Bell bracelets, necklaces, and a bunch

of Hallmark stickers.

This is the coolest thing we got.
