I had some real heartbreak at the start of this year.

It was a time in my life where I found someone that,

you know, I thought was gonna be the person that I'd marry,

and, and spend the rest of my life with.

But yeah, it just didn't work out.

She kind of ended things, like, kind of out of the blue.

Um, and I think

that's probably why I've struggled, um, dating, after that.

Um, I think I've been looking for that same kind of connection,

that I had with her.

After hearing about Tom's past relationship,

It was a time in my life where I found someone that,

and-and spend the rest of my life with,

I'm completely over her.

But there's a slight fear of getting into a situation where,

you know, I make a commitment to the wrong person.

And it ends badly.

You know, you fall in love with them,

and you think you're gonna start a life with them,

but then it doesn't go to plan and-and things end.

And then you go through that trauma of another breakup.

So, I end up cutting things off.

So, I don't have the chance to-to, you know, to-to have that rejection.

Um... Yeah.

Have you always been the one to break things off!

I probably have been the one to-to end things, I think.

I'll start dating someone,

and then after a few times being with them,

there's something in my gut that tells me

it's not gonna work out.

So, I usually just cut things off without really letting them know...

why I'm cutting things off.

Or give them excuses for other reasons

as to why I'm cutting it off, I guess.

So, you tell them lies?

Um, no, I wouldn't say I tell them lies.

oh, maybe a white lie.

This whole situation is really triggering.

I've been lied to in the past.

And I'm constantly getting ghosted.

His past relationships have sort of moulded him into who he is,

which is someone who runs away

quite easily,

and doesn't really give things

a chance.

But that's kind of part of the reason

I took up this experience,

was that you don't have that opportunity to,

like, just cut things off and run away.

It is a scary thing, to keep trying with Tom.

But I think this island is a great place

to move past that sort of issues that we both have.

Do you feel like you'd get things

better off your chest,

if you started opening up?

Maybe that could help you in relationships!

Yeah, definitely, Emily. I think that would help.

But I'm stubborn, and it's hard for me to do that.

is disgusting to me.

And just shows they're not mature enough,
