Original subtitles

Justin (voice Over): My Father wanted only two things. Straight A's and a straight son.

These were the two non-negotiables in our relationship

Standard by which all decisions must be made.

Any deviation was quickly corrected.

My father never had to say a word

I learned quickly that I was not to express my... socially unacepatable traits.

Despite the fact I still felt compelled to share them,

So, I started to write. I wrote down everything.

I also learned, if I was to keep my father on my side. And, eventually just his wallet.

My first arranged date, I was 15.

I'm sure the enamored look I wore was a sure sign of hope

I never told them it wasn't the girl that had captured my attention.

Although I could never grow one on my face. Finding a beard for every dance and social event was a simple enough task.

All I asked for in return was to be popular. And to carry the reputation of a proud, but maybe a little handsy philanderer.

As soon as I graduated, I couldn't wait to get out.

I moved far enough away I was out of sight. But not far enough from the financial support.

Justin: I'm telling you man, with the right take off pattern I can clear ten feet easy this time.

Mark: If you need to take a break from studying, please go run the track, recite a sonet in the commons, go to the shower and jack off. but do not jump out that window.

Justin: Aww, you do care.

Mark: No, I don't. I just don't want to have to take you to the hospital - Again. I have a physics midterm tomorrow and some of us need to study.

Justin: Mark, if you don't stop studdying for like a minute.

The molecules in your brain are going to start racing away from each other.

Till your brain matter literally expands beyond the cranial cavity

Justin: And (popping noise) All over the walls.

Justin: Who's gonna clean that up, Mark? We both know that's your thing.

Justin: And how are we going to get rid of the body? My dad's rich, but not that rich.

Justin: I'm just gonna have to grind your body up into hot dog paste. Feed it to the students on meal plan.

Mark: You are seriously disgusting. No wonder people are afraid of you.

Justin: they're just jelous of me.

(ominous ring tone)

Justin: (into phone) Justin Johnson

Greg Johnson: Studying?

Justin: Right now.

Greg Johnson: Staying out of trouble?

Justin: Of Course.

Greg Johnson: Keeping your nose clean.

Justin: Sparking sir.

Greg Johnson: Watch it.

Justin: I'm sorry... Sir.

Greg Johnson: I'd hate to have to cut you off Justin.

Justin: I know you would.

Greg Johnson: Straight A's. Not a question.

Justin: As always, Sir.

Greg Johnson: And the other?

Justin: Under control.

Greg Johnson: It better be, Justin.

Justin: I won't let you down.

Greg Johnson: I know you won't.

Greg Johnson: Studying.

Justin: Right now.

Justin: Finals in six weeks.

Greg Johnson: I'll call back.

Justin: Talk then.

Justin: Good night... (Greg hangs up phone)

Mark: Justin.

Justin: As I was Saying. My parents support and encourage my journey of the soul.

Mark: I'm pretty sure your soul doesn't reside in your pants. Since that is the only part of you that has had any journey.

Justin: I can't help it if I'm irresistable.

Mark: Well, you and your sould need to get out of here so I can study and you can go find yourself.

Justin: No soul finders tonight.

Justin: And I don't feel like flying solo.

Mark: Aww. Did you finally develop carpel tunel. I warned you.

Justin: (laughs) I know. And I appriciate all the times you tried to step in as a pinch hitter.

Justin: But your grip on the bat... Not so good for a home run slugger.

Mark: Asshole. Get out of here.

Justin: By your command.

Justin: My fellow countrymen.

Student: Shut up Justin.

Justin: It is with great regret and a heavy heart I must inform you that I will travel to a far away place tonight to satisfy my... soul.

Student: Do it already!

Justin: a place where only those with the highest of intelect!

Mark: Questionable.

Justin: Superior Looks!

Mark: Now I now your talking about me!

Justin: And an unwavering thirst, to find the human soul!

Mark: Or, a descent piece of ass.

Justin: Or a descent piece of ass. Thank you Sire, Tobin.

Justin: And so, I travel to the great unknown.

Student: Jump already and put us out of our misery.

Justin: What a world. What a cruel, cruel, cruel world.

Justin: I added that third cruel to avoid plagerism.

Mark: How thoughtful.

Student below: Jump! Jump! Jump! Jump!

Justin: The people have spoken Sire Tobin. I must take my leave of you now.

Justin: (Jumping out window - grunting noise)

Justin: (Laughing at his sucess)

Justin: (Screaming while falling)

Justin: (Grunts w/thud hitting the ground)

Justin: (Calling out from below) Sire Tobin!

Justin: I do believe I will be needing the services of your noble steed this night.

Mark: Are you shitting me?

Justin: I am most definately not shitting you sir.

Justin: I do feel the pain of a thousand seering suns burning my leg but good.

Mark: Goddammit, Shit. You know, this is why freshman year lotteries for roommates is a bad idea.

Justin: Your college experience would have been so dull wihtout me.

Mark: Stay there. I'll be right down.

Justin: Where would I go?

Mark: Asshole!

Justin (Voice Over) OK, so I don't write everything down. Sometimes I just out of a window.

Justin (Voice Over) Sometimes I laugh when I should cry.

Justin (Voice Over) like Heilein says, "We laugh because it's the only thing that will keep it from hurting"

Justin (Voice Over): Well, that and pain killers.

Michael: Mr Johnson. You seem to have had an accident.

Justin: Justin. And who are you, Michael, RN? You Must be new?

Michael: No, I'm not new. I just drew the short straw.

Justin: Cute and cleaver. What a rare combination.

Michael: So what happened, Mr Johnson?

Justin: Mr. Johnson is my father's name. I think I'm a little young to be a Mister anybody, don't you?

Justin: You can call me Justin. I think we're pretty much the same age.

Michael: We're the exact same age actually. What happened?

Justin: Apparently they don't make tree limbs like they used to.

Justin. Wait. If were the same age, how do you get to be a nurse?

Justin: Doesn't that take like 12 years of college? or something?

Justin: Are you Doogie Howser?

Michael: Apparently you missed the common sense portion of the tree limb surfing class.

Michael: Doogie Howser is a fictional teenage doctor. I'm a real life nurse.

Michael: Skipped high school. Went to college at sixteen. graduated when I was 20.

Justin: wow, that's impressive. I didn't even know you could do that.

Michael: So, you jumped out of a window?

Michael: Into a tree.

Michael: And the limb broke.

Michael: Are you in any pain?

Justin: Just right here.

Michael: You're having chest pain?

Justin: My heart stops when you look at me.

Michael: Did you just quote a Lady Gaga song to me?

Justin: Katy Perry, dude. How do you not know that?

Michael: You say that like she's Judy Gardland.

Michael: Are you having any leg pain?

Justin: Nice deflection Michael, RN.

Justin. I took some T3 on the way over... So, I guess I'm like a six on the pain scale.

Michael: Should I be impressed or worried about your knowledge of our pain scale? Or the fact that you have T3 in stock.

Justin: I just seem to be accident prone.

Michael: Is that what we're calling it now?

Justin: I just miss you all so much.

Michael: Tough way to get friends.

Justin: I just figure it's easier than actually sending letters home.

Justin: Nothing says I Love you to the parentals, like a new Explaination of Benefits and an ER bill, right?

Justin: Mom gets confirmation of my wereabouts and dad gets assurance that I'm just being a guy and not a gay.

Michael: Justin. Mr. Johnson.

Justin: They can bring you into this world but they sure don't have to love you.

Michael: I'm..sorry.

Michael: (Clears throat) Gonna take you to Xray, make sure you don't have a break.

Justin: Another adventure. Another ER bill. Double the love coming their way.

Justin: You're welcome mom and dad!

Justin: There's no way

Brooke: Or Maybe he tried and it's still stuck up there.

Ben: That explains the constipated personality traits.

Justin: Ok, Screw you all. I'm gonna get another drink.

Justin: Oh my God, look who it is.

Brooke: Where?

Justin: Over by the piano.

Mark: Aw, Shit.

Mark: It's the nurse from the ER.

Brooke: There are a lot of nurses in an ER, Mark.

Mark: I bet your medical record is a few encyclopedias deep.

Ben: He's probably got a picture on a poster in the med room that says, "Beware of horny gay man!"

Justin: You know what. I'll have you all know, I am not that desperate.

Justin: Most of the time I'm not that desperate. He's just particularly cute.

Brooke: Ok, and which ER visit is this one from?

Mark: Jumped!

Justin: So cute! and he plays piano!

Ben: Boom!

Brooke: See this is why we can't play poker. You've got no game face. Man up.

Justin: Whatever. You're already more man than the rest of us B.

Brooke: Damn Right!

Justin: no, you want this one.

Brooke: Come on!

Mark: Nurse, Justin.

Justin: Shut up.

Justin: Michael, RN

Michael: You remembered my name.

Justin: I'm just really good with names is all.

Michael: Surprising, considering faces don't seem to be your primary focus.

Justin: Do you take requests?

Michael: Do you tip?

Justin: I might.

Michael: Then I might take a request.

Michael: It will be my final song of the night.

Justin: I wanna hear something that's gonnna get my body moving and show off my sexy dance moves.

Michael: K

Michael: I have a request for you all from...

Justin: Oh my God, Justin!

Michael: Oh my God Justin! He wishes to move his body for you all!

Michael: (Plays and sings) "You put your right hand in, you put your right hand out."

Michael: Aww. Come on everybody. He's gone shy - help him out.

Michael: You put your right hand in and you shake it all about.

Michael & Justin: You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what it's all about.

Justin: You do the Hooookey Pokey. You do the Ho-oy-oy-o-key Pokey

Justin: Come on Michael, RN - Big finish! That's what it's all about!

Crowd claps Justin: Thank you. Thank you so much.

Justin: Well played Michael, RN.

Justin: You know, I still don't know your last name.

Michael: No. No you don't.

Justin: Does that mean I have to beg?

Michael: I'd rather not have to watch.

Justin: So you will tell me your last name.

Michael: No.

Justin: They how am I going to track you down?

Michael: Are you the stalker type?

Justin: No. Just the interested type.

Michael: You're not my type.

Justin: What's not your type? My personality?

Michael: (to bar owner) Thanks, Brian. See you in a couple of weeks.

Justin: My Face? My what?

Michael: Look Justin. You're funny and kind of cute. But..

Justin: But.

Michael: This is not something I need in my life.

Justin: This.

Michael: You're a hot mess.

Justin: I am hot. I'll give you that.

Michael: I'm not into one night stands.

Justin: Neither am I. I wasn't planning on sleeping over.

Justin: Good bye Michael, RN. Till our paths cross again.

Jim: Place your bets girls. And Brooke.

Brooke: Thanks for clarifying, I am all woman. (Justin Laughs)

Justin: Oww.

Brooke: uhh, boys, where's the chocolate?

Todd: Oh, is somebody on their...

Brooke. Todd, Please. Use your overrated college vocabulary to explain to me...

...Why my needs, during my menstral cycle, are open to your male privledged opinion.

Brooke: I will have you know, I am currently experiencing contractions which are cutting off the oxygen to my uterus.

Brooke: So if I need some chocolate to increase my seratonin levals.

Brooke: Rather than, oh I don't know, stabbing the nearest male in the room to relieve physical pain.

Brooke: I'd say your coming out on top.

Brooke: So you had better fork over the chocolate, I know you are hiding. And then call your mothers to say thank you.

Brooke: Thank you for the years of periods you endured and suffered through, just so I may have life.

Brooke: That's what I thought.

Jim: It helped Harry Potter when he was facing the dementors.

Justin: Uhh, I don't think so...

Brooke: No uterous, No opinion. Chocolate!

Todd: Oh Yeah! Drink up suckers!

(Knock on the door)

Justin: That had better be the damn pizza. I'm wasting away.

Mark: Only the brain cells you don't feed.

Justin: Thank God. Pizza Girl: Change?

Justin: No, It's cool. What took you so long?

Pizza Girl: We're have open mic night at the bar. All those singers and wanna be comedians.

Justin: Is there a piano player? Tall, Blonde hair... got the pectoral muscles. Looks like he might be a really good hugger.

Pizza Girl: Oh, you mean Michael. Yeah.

Justin: Yeah! Oh, Yeah.. It's cool.. Michael..Michael..Mr Michael.. It's cool... It's cool.

Justin: Umm..Do, um, is that getting over soon... or..um are people maybe..or is there like?

Justin: ...is there like time to go... or... Pizza Girl: Last calls midnight.

Justin: Cool. thanks, dude.

Justin: So, uh, I think I'm gonna make a run and get some more beers.

Mark: (mouth full of pizza) Beers in the fridge.

Mark: Then I'm gonna get us some hotwings.

Mark: Oohhh Jim: He's just after that nurse from the bar.

Brooke: Are you just hungry for another rejection? Come on Justin.

Justin: I am nothing, if not persistant. He will sucumb to my charms.

Todd: Actually, He's just trying to make him cum.

Brooke: Ovaries! (Laughing from others)

Brooke: Haa. Drink up boys. Come to mama, chocolate heaven bliss.

Mark: Who made up this game? it's stupid.

All others: You!

Mark: Round two. Bets in boys.

Justin: I'm out. I've gotta go find my prince charming before the stroke of midnight.

Brooke: Aww. Your mama's would be proud.

Justin: Oh hey, Michael, RN.

Michael: Hey... Justin...

Justin: You remembered my name.

Michael: Of course. It's what I call the demons in my dreams.

Justin: I'm in your dreams? It's like we've already had our first date.

Michael: I hardly qualfy you chasing me with long sharp objects a date.

Justin: I guess that depends on your idea of fun.

Justin: Wait. when you said deamon - Did you mean like dementor type deamon, or like nightmare on elm street.

Michael: Dementor Justin: Yes!

Justin: Michael, RN! what do I have to do to get you to go on a date with me?

Michael: Besides a personality labotomy?

Justin: Tried that. Didn't take.

Michael: Why is everything a joke with you?

Justin: Why is everything NOT a joke with you?

Michael: Ok, fine. Justin: Is that a yes?

Michael: No. You asked what you have to do.

Michael: Since it appears you are a Harry Potter fan. Let's go with the Tri-wizard Tournament theme.

Justin: Michael, RN! I am impressed. And strangely turned on.

Michael: You're gonna make me regreat this, aren't you?

Michael: Complete three tasks and a date you shall have. Don't complete the tasks, no date.

Justin: Woah. Shit just got real. Michael: That's right.

Justin: Ok. Do you have a pen? Michael: Uh, yeah.

Justin: (playing with the syringe pen with an animated voice) I'ts ok grandma, you will only feel a little sting.

Justin (Grandma voice): Oh I don't believe in all this vacination nonsense...

Michael: Ready? Justin: Oh, sorry. I'm with you. right here. Lay it on me Michael, RN.

Michael: I want to defy gravity.

Justin: Defy Gravity?

Michael: Do you need me to spell that for you?

Justin: As in "Wicked" the musical?

Michael: So, you know the show.

Justin: Yeah, I've seen it like ten times.

Michael: Uh huh.

Justin: It's true.

Michael: Yeah?

Justin: Yeah!

Michael: Liar.

Justin: No. I..

Michael: Yeah!?

Justin: (singing) "So nobody in all of oz..."

Michael: Ok.

Justin: ..."No wizard Michael: Ok! Justin:... that there is or was..."

Michael: Ok! Justin: ..."Is ever gonna bring..." Michael: Ok - I believe you! stop singing! Please stop singing!

Michael: Sorry Justin: She loved it.

Justin: Dearest Mumsy and Popsicle, Always willilng to support what I will call... fieldtrips. All in the name of furthering my education.

Michael: Field trips? In college?

Justin: Michael, RN. I will do anything to go on a date with you.

Michael: Make me defy gravity.

Justin: Ok. Get some good sleep - for gravity defying later.

Justin: Defy gravity. It's just-gravity... Shit!

(Music)

Justin: (voice over) Oh, Michael, Michael motercycle. How can I make you fly?

Justin: (voice over) As it turned out, as with most casses in my college life.

Justin: (Voice) Brooke's feminine intuition was the missing link to solve this puzzle.

Justin: (Voice over) With her help and an introduction to an acquaintance of hers

Justin: (Voice over) I was ready to win over Michael, RN's heart. Or fall flat on my face in the attempt.

Michael: What are you doing here?

Justin: Since my knowledge of you is limited to where you work and what you drive - I had to improvise.

Justin: I may have driven through the lot a few times this week looking for your car.

Justin: But, now that I have found you. It is time!

Michael: Excuse me?

Justin: Task number one. It is time.

Michael: Time for what?

Justin: To defy gravity.

Michael: I'm not getting in a car with you.

Justin: Fine. Be difficult. Will you follow me?

Michael: Uhh, Justin I...

Justin: Please.

Michael: Ok. But make it quick. I'm back here early.

Michael: Where are we?

Justin: Where defying gravity is possible.

Michael: Justin. If this..

Justin: Michael. I assure you, I only wish to complete my first task.

Justin: Trust me.

Michael: Trust is earned, Justin.

Dave: Hey Justin. You finally found him.

Justin: Yeah.

Dave: Cool. Let's do this.

Michael: Do what?

Justin: for someone so smart, you really are slow sometimes.

Justin: Michael, RN this is Dave. Dave this is Michael, RN.

Michael: Just Michael is fine.

Dave: You need to put these on.

Michael: What is this?

Justin: That's your defying gravity gear.

Justin: You're gonna fly today!

Michael: For real?

Justin: For real! Oh, Um, give me everything in your pockets.

Justin: I know, I know. Trust is earned. Whatever. You won't regreat it.

Michael: I'm already regreating it.

Music and sounds of flight chamber turning on.

Justin: (Voice Over) Well, this is new. I'm doing something for somebody else.

Justin (Voice over) Not just so that the look on their face will trigger a dopamine rush in my brain.

Justin: (Voice over) But I mean, the look on his face is pretty great!

Justin: (Voice over) I'm looking at someone who trusts the air to hold him up

Justin: (Voice over) Trust isn't light as air. Trust is a burden that you place into the hands of the people you give it.

Justin: Some of them drop it. Maybe, some of them don't.

Michael: That was amazing!

Michael: That was amazing. I used to dream about doing stuff like that as a kid.

Justin. Yeah, Brooke said you would love it.

Michael: Who's Brooke?

Justin: She's a friend from college. She actually hooked this up when I told her about my first task.

Michael: So you needed help completing the task?

Justin: Harry needed help from Hermione and Ron.

Michael: Harry was fighting Mermaids, Dragons and Dark Lords.

Justin: Ok .Well... I'm new at this, Michael, RN.

Michael: Garner.

Justin: What?

Michael: Garner. My last name. Stop with the RN thing - ok.

Justin: Garner. Gaarnner. Nope - I liked RN better.

Michael: What?

Justin: Just kidding. It's not like you can control your last name.

Justin: So, What's my second task Michael Garner.

Michael: uhh... Justin, I...

Justin: What? No. Lay it on me.

Michael: It seems kind of cruel now. I didn't think you'd complete the first one.

Justin: So you've been thinking about me.

Michael: a purple ghost orchid.

Justin: That's not a real thing. That's a real thing?

Michael: Very real.

Justin: OK. Challenge accepted. How do I get a hold of you?

Michael: Uhh, you don't.

Michael: I'll meet you at the bar. Friday night - I'm playing.

Justin: Friday night then. 48hours.

Michael: Yeah. Unless you can't handle it.

Michael: Of course I can handle it. Justin: Well, I can handle it.

Michael: You got this. Justin: I got this. Michael: Easy Justin: Right.

Michael: Yeah. Justin: Yeah. Michael: Cool Justin: Cool.

Michael: Till then Justin Johnson.

Justin: Till then Michael Garner.

Justin: What the hell's a ghost orchid?

Brooke: It's one of the rarest flowers in the world. Found primarily in Cuba.

Brooke: It was extinct for over 20 years. And it's.. Kind of creepy.

Justin: How does somebody even know about stuff like this?

Brooke: What is with this guy, Justin? I've never seen you like this before.

Justin: I don't know. He's just... different.

Brooke: Well take it easy, Ok? I've never seen this side of you before. And I might actually fall for you myself.

Justin: Oh, Brooke. I just learned that you masculine demeanor doesn't come with the right accessories.

Brooke: Asshole.

Justin: Thanks for the assist.

Brooke: Get out of here before someone actually thinks you're studying. You're gonna confuse the commoners.

Brooke: Love you.

Justin: Dito.

( Piano Music and bar background noise)

Ben: Do you have a rockstar?

Brooke: Go fish. Ben: Uhhh.

Mark: Do you have the octopus?

Mark: Do you have the octopus?

Mark: Justin! Do you have the octopus? Justin: Oh, I... do. Good fishing. What else you got?

Justin: Oh. Everyone, this is Michael. Michael this is everyonel.

Brooke: Honest to God you moron. HI. I'm Brooke.

Michael: As in, arranged the flying lesson, Brooke?

Brooke: One in the same.

Michael: Thank you so much. That was amazing.

Brooke: Alright, I like him, he can stay.

Mark: I'm Mark. Michael: Mark.

Ben: Hey, I'm Ben. Michael: Ben.

Michael: Pleasure to meet you all.

Brooke: Wow Justin. Polite and cute. You were right about this one.

Justin: Shut up now please.

Justin: I'll walk you to your car.

Michael: Your friends seem nice.

Justin: Yeah. I can't complain.

Michael: So, I never asked. What are you studying?

Justin: Life.

Michael: Sorry?

Justin: I'm studying life.

I've never heard of that major.

Justin: It's because it only exists for indecisive loosers like me.

Michael: Ahh. Ok.

Justin: Disapointed?

Michael: Nope. No judgement here.

Justin: Come here. I wanna show you something. Close your eyes.

Michael: Why? You gonna kid nap me?

Justin: Oh, Yeah. You foiled all my plans Michael.

Justin: No. I just don't want you to ruin all my hard work and spoil the surprise.

Justin: So..Trust me.

Michael: Your need for trust.

Michael: K.

Justin: Open your eyes.

Michael: What is that?

Justin: It's a..ghost. Michael honestly you have a college degree.

Michael: I said Ghost Orchid.

Justin: No. You said, Purple ghost orchid.

Michael: How?

Justin: I am incredibly crafty.

Michael: Wow, this is just... Wow.

Justin: So, Michael Garner, would you agree that I have completed the second task required to take you on a proper date.

Michael: Look... Justin. You don't have to..

Justin: I'm gonna see this through, Michael I take it seriously.

Justin: I'm not gonna let you leave until you give me my final task.

Michael: It can't be done, Justin. That's the point.

Michael: The seven wonders of the world. I want to see them.

Justin: Wow. You really know how to squash a guys dreams.

Michael: Truly Justin. You don't have to do this. I'm impressed, I'm flatered and.. I'm practically speechless.

Michael: Yes, I will go on a date with you.

Justin: No...

Michael: No?!

Justin: I..mean... Yes. But not until I complete my third task. I gott go..check on something.

Justin: I'll text you later.

Michael: Justin! Don't you need my number?

Justin: I'll already got it, dude.

Michael: Wait - excuse me?

Justin: While you were defying gravity. I called my phone from your phone.

Justin: I've just been waiting for your permission to use it.

Justin: It's all about trust, Michael. I'll talk to you soon.

(Music underscore)

(Ominous phone ringtone)

Justin: Justin Johnson.

Justin: Yes sir, Of course sir.

Justin: Wouldn't dream of it, sir.

Justin: As always sir, without fail.

Justin: Very grateful, sir.

Justin: You also, Sir.

Justin: Good night, Father.

Justin: Hey.

Michael: Hi.

Justin: You're um, humble chariot awaits.

Michael: Humble chariot?

Justin: My other horses were being stabled... so, you know I had to... Just work with me here, Michael.

Michael: Ok..show me to thine chariot good sir.

Justin: Sorry. That just sounded so gay coming from you.

Michael: Are you playing the pot or the kettle?

Justin: Ok. A little sassy. I'm not sure if I'm gonna add that to the positives or the negatives list.

Justin: After you.

Justin: We have to drive a little bit out for this one. Do you trust me?

Michael: I willingly got in the car, didn't I?

Justin: Progress.

Michael: Just as long as you promise to drop a line to my parents, telling them where to find the body.

Justin: (Scoffing) Michael what kind of monster do you think I am?

Justin: Of course I'll drop a line to your parents.

(Music)

Justin: Hey, Uhh. We're almost there. So... I need you to close your eyes.

Michael: What?

Justin: Michael, Relax. If I was gonna do something crazy, I would have stopped at that field ten minutes ago, where they have an enclosed area and some really soft dirt.

Michael: Remind me again why I got in this car?

Justin: Whoa, look out.

Justin: Just kidding. you're fine. I've got you.

Justin: You didn't open your eyes..

Justin: Ok We're almost there.

Justin: Alright. Open your eyes.

Justin: Welcome, to the wonders of the world.

Michael: This is a miniature golf course, Justin.

Justin: No, it's not Michael. This is my tri-wizard victory.

Michael: Really?

Michael: I don't think the statue of liberty ever made the natural wonders list.

Justin: Ok, Well, as long as we're keeping score. There are 77 different natural wonders from 11 different lists.

Justin: As well as eleven individual countries each with their own seven wonders inside of them.

Justin: So that's like 154 wonders of the world.

Justin: Yeah, I did my research.

Michael: Well...

Justin: Here. With a little imagination. You'll see, we have the Roman Coliseum.

Michael: mhhmm..

Justin: The Great Wall of China. Right over there.

Michael: I see it.

Justin: And, uh. Over here we have The Leaning Tower of Pisa.. Obviously

Michael: Obviously.

Justin: Minarets of, um, Mantach.

Justin: And then, uh, the Panama Canal.

Justin: And this is, uh, clearly Stonehenge

Michael: Clearly...

Justin: Exactly. Thank you for going with it, Michael.

Michael: Uhh..

Justin: Oh, no, no, no. Please. I brought you here my friend.

Justin: Today I am inviting you to sally forth. And experience the wonder.

Michael: You are beyond ridiculous.

Justin: I'm hoping that's a good thing.

Michael: It's not a bad thing.

Justin: Don't feel bad. Everybodies really bad at this game when they first play.

Justin: Let me show you how it's done.

Michael: (high pitched squeal)

Justin: You ok?

Michael: I'm fine. I was in your way. Justin: I was just warming up. Michael: My bad!

Michael: That'll do.

Justin: Thanks.

Justin: you actually get extra points when you go in the water.

Michael: Oh, ok. Perfect.

Michael: Yeah!

Michael: Hey! Justin: What?

Michael: It's no good huh? Justin: Nope.

Michael: Don't be cheating. What are you... Justin: No, you're good. I was just fixing up the score. We're all set now.

Michael: Liar.

Michael: Hey, hey..

Justin: Ok. I'm coming down.

Michael: Don't fall. How about that.

Justin: Oh, don't - don't fall. Until just now I hadn't even... thank you!

Justin: Laughing

Justin: I don't know where it went. Michael: Ahh.

Justin: I think it's gone.

Michael: Give me that.

Michael: Jerk. Justin: You're a jerk.

Michael: Ohh. Justin: At some point she's going to get it.

Justin: Careful, Careful.

Michael: I got this.

Justin: Yeah, I know. I just feel like it's very easy to fall.

Michael: For you?

Justin: ...Yeah.

Justin: How're we doing?

Michael: Right, so I'm obviously ahead of you.

Justin: I don't know. you have way less points that me, dude. I am like soaring.

Michael: I'm just gonna...

Justin: I'll wait. Take your time.

Justin: Are you good?

Both: (sword fighting)

Michael: I give.

Justin: Check it out. I tought him how to do a trick. Hang on he's really good at it.

Justin (Humming) Dut, dut, dut, dut, dut, dut, dut, dut, dut, da.

Justin:(laughing) Come on.

Michael: (playfully) Why, I ought ta...

Justin: (laughing)

Justin: Ok you win. You win.

Michael: Wait, I win?

Justin: I should do more cardio.

Justin: I'll give that to you. Thanks.

Both girls: Cute.

Justin: Not as a date or anything, but I'm ridculously hungry. They have these really great hot dogs here.

Michael: I could go for a hot dog.

Justin: Cool.

Michael: So, why is this not a date?

Justin: You'll know when I take you on a date.

Michael: Duly noted.

Michael: Can I ask what you plan to do after college?

Justin: After? You mean I actually have to leave?

Michael: Why is your wall so high?

Justin: Spent a lot of time building this wall. And, the view is lovely from my side. I'll have you know.

Michael: So what you're saying is you might invite me in.

Justin: Would you come in if I did?

Michael: I might enjoy the view as well.

Justin: Then I might consider an invitation. But it's a mess right now and I'll need some time to tidyd up.

Justin: Can we have two.

Michael: I can wait.

Justin: Good to know.

Both. Thanks.

Justin: You're never going to be able to eat another hot dog for the rest of your life.

Justin: So. Why nursing?

Michael: There was a time when I, uh. I needed a lot of medical attention

Michael: The way they made me feel safe. Taken care of.

Michael: I knew that was something I wanted to do for others.

Justin: Can I - ask what happened?

Michael: You can ask.

Michael: Some day I might tell you.

Michael: We all have walls, Justin.

Justin: They have my favorite ride. Come on, let's go do it.

Michael: I dont' know Justin. I've got this inner ear thing.

Justin: Inner..what? Come on let's go! You're gonna love it. It's so much fun.

Justin: Come on. You're gonna love it.

Justin: Over here.

Michael: These are... yeah. Safety.

Justin: You're gonna be fine.

Michael: Do I need a hard helmet?

Girl: It isn't that bad. But then it goes sideways.

Michael: Great. Justin: It goes sideways?

Justin: It's gonna go a little faster. Michael: Oh my God.

Justin: (Laughing) Michael: OOHH

Justin: You ok Michael? Michael: Yeah...

Justin: I don't know Justin.

Justin: Faster! Come on! What is this? The tea cups? Let's do it!

Justin: (Laughing) Michael: Is it over?

Justin: No. It's just getting started.

Justin: Oh God. We're going full tilt. FULL TILT!

Michael: You love rides like this?

Justin: I love this.

Michael: My eyes are shut.

Justin: No! You've got to open your eyes.

Michael: No, you've got to close them.

Justin: You're looking straight up. Then straight down. Then straight up

Justin: I'm starting to feel it.

Girl: Are you going to throw up?

Michael: No..

Girl: Are you sure you're not gonna thow up?

Justin: This is the hard part. All the blood is going to rush away from your brain.

Justin: Just ahh, go with it.

Justin: Maybe no more rides.

Justin: You OK, Michael?

Justin: You ok, Mike?

Justin: Michael!

Michael (Retching sounds)

Justin: Oh, oh shit.

Justin: I'm sorry dude. Umm. Do you need..

Justin: Oh, God. thank you!

Justin: Here, I got you a napkin.

Justin: Michael?

Michael: Just take me home, Justin.

Justin: Ok! Yeah! I can do that!

Justin: No problem. Just go real slow.

Justin: I got you.

Justin: Just come over and sit down.

Justin: Here we go.

Justin: What um, what do you need? What can I do?

Michael: (Groaning)

(Soft music)

Michael: You're still here.

Justin: Of course.

Justin: You're easier to take advantage of while your asleep.

Michael: Should I be worried?

Justin: Not untili the pictures finish uploading. Or the bruises start showing.

Michael: Dope.

Justin: I'm definitely adding that to my list of positives.

Michael: You were looking very focused on what you were writing there.

Justin: It's just random thoughts, and quotes and stupid junk.

Michael: Care to share?

Justin: People build walls not to keep others out.

Justin: but to see who's willing to break them down.

Michael: I like you like this.

Justin: I like me like this too.

Michael: Stay for dinner?

Justin: Did..you just ask me on our first date?

Michael: If you consider a dinner consisting of bread and soup a date.

Justin: I don't know. I'll have to check my calendar.

Michael: Will you stay?

Justin: As long as you'll have me.

(soft music)

Michael: Hey, Brooke.

Brooke: Right on time.

Michael: What?

Brooke: Sit with me, Michael.

Michael: Actually, I'm here to pick up Justin.

Brooke: Justin was in a fight.

Michael: What.

Brooke: Please sit down, Michael.

Michael: You're kind of freaking me out. Where's Justin?

Brooke: Mark took him to the ER.

Michael: Oh. I'm gonna...

Brooke: No. He doesn't want you there.

Michael: Why?

Brooke: there are two things in Justin's life that he has come to count on.

Brooke: First being that you are always five minutes early for your dates.

Brooke: And second, that his father will call him twice every quarter.

Michael: Wait, what does this have to do with him getting in a fight?

Michael: What does he wan't from his father?

Brooke: Same thing we all do, I suppose.

Brooke: His ER visits typically follow that phone call.

Michael: You meet him on one of those days.

Michael: So, he got in a fight with his dad.

Brooke: No. That's not a fight he's ready for.

Brooke: This time it was the wall that took the brunt of it.

Brooke: Score one for the wall.

Brooke: Mark texted about a half an hour ago. The X-ray showed no broken bones.

Brooke: So they'll be back soon.

Brooke: I was told to keep you company until then.

Michael: You're a good friend, Brooke.

Brooke: I know.

Brooke: He needs good friends.

Brooke: But he also needs a lot of things I can't give him.

Michael: I care about him.

Brooke: I know you do.

Michael: So how do I get him to open up?

Brooke: Just be there for him, when he's ready.

Brooke: And don't forget about my party next Friday. I expect to see you both there.

Michael: Promise.

(Music playing, party sounds)

Brooke: So what's the plan for break now that finals are over?

Justin: I told the parentals that I had to stay here a little longer to get a head start on next term.

Justin: I'll fly back a few days after Christmas to avoid the rush.

Brooke: And what did Michael say about the recent wall incident?

Justin: I've managed to mostly avoid the topic.

Justin: He's not ready to carry my bagage yet.

Brooke: Well at least give him the option to decline. Instead of just assuming he wouldn't want to.

Brooke: Withholding information can never lead to good things, Justin.

Justin: Well, I'm breaking it to him slowly then.

Brooke: I'ts been almost two months.

Justin: Yeah, exactly. Two months. He's not ready for that yet.

(Music, talking, party sounds)

Brooke: I think I just contracted diabetes watching that.

Brooke: Am I sensing a midnight Cinderella disaperance?

Justin: We agreed to leave at midnight so he could take me to the coast for the weekend.

Brooke: OOHHH.

Justin: Relax oh hormonal one. We haven't even done that yet.

Brooke: Yeah right.

Brooke: No - Seriously? Damn, Justin. I'm impressed.

Brooke: I might actually cry. My boy is growing up.

Justin: Shut up.

Michael: I'ts time good sir to make our depature.

Michael: Thank you, Brooke, For inviting us to your fare castle

Michael: But now we must make our leave to a land far, far away.

Brooke: Scary how well matched you two are.

Justin: Ignore her. she's just jealous.

Brooke: Drive safely. I love you.

Justin: Dito.

Justin: (Voice over) The Pacific Ocean is deafening. Like an airplane taking off.

Justin: (Voice over) Like windows down on a high way. Like..Silence.

Justin: (Voice over) I'm not good in silence.

Justin: (Voice over) I like talking, or shouting or anything that will be distracting.

Justin: (voice over) When we drown out the noise of all our insecurities. Will we finally have to confront ourselves?

Justin: (Voice over) Like Atreyu at the Southern Oracle. Michael: (sleepy groan)

Justin: (Voice over)Maybe I could do that. Maybe I could be brave with someone like him by my side.

Justin: (Voice over) Or maybe on my own. But having him here doesn't hurt.

Justin: (voice over) He's my luck dragon.

Michael: (Sleepy exhale)

Michael: Good morning

Justin: Morning.

Michael: You been awake a long time?

Justin: About an hour.

Michael: You're writing something there.

Justin: I felt insprired.

Justin: I've neve woken up next to somebody without, you know,

Justin: Being hung over or preparing to take the glorious walk of shame.

Michael (Laughs)

Justin: You make small noises when you sleep.

Michael: Aw, you're making that up.

Justin: Believe what you want, sir. But I just wrote a sonnet about it.

Justin: (clears throat) Ode to a snore.

Michael: I do not snore!

Justin: Ok, that must have been the other guy I was sleeping next to last night.

Michael: Must have been. Let me see it.

Michael: Let me see it. Justin: No Michael: Yeah.

Justin: (Laughing/giggling) Ok, Ok. You win.

Michael: Really?!

Michael: A cross between a chainsaw and a dinosour with a sinus cold.

Justin: (giggles) You should be careful what you ask for. Michael: Wow.

Michael: Oh!

Justin: What is this?

Michael: For you.

Justin: Did I forget an important date or something already?

Michael: No, of course not. I just saw this and thought of you.

Michael: Open it. Come on.

Justin: (laughs)

Justin: I don't know what to say.

Michael: You don't have to say anything.

Michael: I know sometimes words don't come easily for you

Michael: But I know writting does.

Michael: It's got me through some tough times.

Justin: Such as.

Michael: I told you I skipped high school.

Michael: It wasn't because I wanted to.

Michael: I wanted what every teenager wanted

Michael: Football games, dances a good looking photo in the yearbook. (both laugh)

Michael: It wasn't meant to be.

Michael: There was a time I trusted too easily.

Michael: It almost cost me everything.

Michael: His name was Brian.

Michael: He moved to our city at the start of seventh grade.

Michael: Popular instantly. Liked by everyone. He picked me first in kickball.

Michael: We became immediate friends.

Michael: One night, he and I were out on the field talking about... God knows what.

Michael: It was getting late. So we decided to leave.

Michael: He grabbed my hand and before I could process what was happening

Michael: He kissed me.

Michael: Every nerve in my body felt so alive.

Michael: Never thought I'd actually find... someone.

Michael: Before I could say it outloud.

Michael: I heard this banging and yelling.

Michael: I turned to find the resident bullies walking toward us.

Michael: They were throwing around the typical gay and homo slurs.

Michael: So, I grabbed Brian's hand and tried to run away.

Michael: He pulled his hand out and said, "What are you doing? Why'd you kiss me?"

Michael: Then he turned to the bullies and said, "Hey, this gay punk just kissed me against my will."

Michael: So two of em' grabbed me and pinned me to the ground

Michael: The other started to kick and hit me over and over and...

Michael: Once he had his fun.

Michael: He turned to Brian and said, "Your turn."

Michael: Show this punk how we feel about homos.

Michael: I blacked out.

Michael: The next thing I remembered was waking up in the ICU.

Michael: After I left the hospital. My parents thought it would be best

Michael: to homeschool me through the rest of middle school.

Michael: After that it was my choice. High school or college.

Michael: And the rest is, as you say, history.

Justin: Michael, I'm..so sorry.

Michael: Don't be. It was a long time ago.

Justin: Thank you.

Justin: Thank you, for not pushing, not grilling, for being patient.

Justin: For sharing.

Michael: Just promise me, you'll use these hands for writing it out.

Michael: And not taking it out on inanimate objects that keep whooping your ass.

Justin: Hey, I don't know, I've gotten in some pretty good sneak attacks.

Michael: Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

Michael: Come on. Let's go down to the beach.

(Soft Music)

(Lock turns)

(Music plays)

Michael: Justin?

Justin: About time, I'm starving.

Michael: What is this?

Justin: Come on in. I built a fort.

Michael: Exactly when did I start dating a toddler?

Justin: Exactly when did I start dating an old man?

Michael: Ahh. Justin: What did you get?

Michael: You're fav. Justin: My fav? Glass noodle? Yeah!

Justin: Thanks.

Michael: You're welcome.

Justin: No. Thanks.

Justin: How do you do that?

Michael: What?

Justin: I've been naked in front of more men than I can remember.

Michael: Ok, I really don't need to hear...

Justin: But I've never felt more exposed than when you look into my eyes.

Michael: the stirring of a soul.

Justin: What?

Michael: The eyes are the windows to the soul.

Michael: When peering in you can see it move.

Michael: Often it will hide. Afraid, alone wrongly judged, shamed into a corner.

Michael: When it knows that it's loved. Without reserve or condition.

Michael: It accepts itself. And shines from within the eyes once again.

Justin: Where did you learn that?

Michael: I wrote it.

Justin: Really?

Michael: I told you. I had a lot of stuff to work out for myself once too.

Justin: It's beautiful.

Justin: Wait. Did you just say you loved me?

Michael: Yeah.

Michael: Yes I did.

Michael: I love you.

Justin: dito.

Michael: Dito?

Justin: Michael, this isn't easy for me. I'm uh..

Michael: Hey..

Justin: Shit.

(both laughing) Justin: Ok... Just uh.

Justin: Fuck it.

(Kissing, moaning)

Justin: Michael. I assure you my intentions here were copletely honorable. (Michael laughs)

Justin: Well not completely honorable. Because I would totally take advantage of you.

Justin: But, it wasn't my intention to seduce you with my mad fort building skills. Michael: Uh huh.

Justin: So..If you're not ready to do this.

Michael: Did it ever occur to you, that I was planning on seducing you.

Justin: Whaa. I will have you know that I am not some kind of fluzzy.

Justin: But I am incorrigible.

Michael: So can we just..

Justin: I would be honored to take advantage in anyway possible.

Michael: Just get over here.

(Music)

Michael: (Sleepy groan)

Michael: Justin?

(Music)

(Music & Justin's voice: My father only wants two things)

(Justin's voice: Straight A's and a straight son)

(Justin's voice: These are the two non negotiables in our relationship)

(Justin's voice: The two unforgivable shortcomings that would not be tolerated...)

(Music)

(Music, Ocean waves & Seagulls)

Michael: Hey. Justin: Hey.

Michael: What're you doing?

Justin: Just enjoying the breeze.

Justin: And, keeping a promise.

Michael: My favorite getaway.

Michael: Close your eyes.

Justin: Oh. Now?

Michael: (scoffs) Justin: Ok. Ok

Michael: Listen to the sound of the crashing waves.

Michael: Feel your body drift into another dimmension.

Justin: You're adorable.

Justin: And poetic.

Michael: You do the same.

Justin: I guess.

Michael: You could you know.

Michael: Write. Stories and such.

Justin: I don't think so.

Justin: My dad... I don't think so.

Michael: I don't think your dad has come to realize that there is so much more to you than what he wants.

Justin: Oh he realizes it. He's just only interested in removing the parts that keep me from becoming the perfect son.

Michael: you astonish me how you breeze through your classes with hardly a care.

Michael: And still manage to maintain the grade point average you have.

Michael: I had to work so hard to get through college. and the nursing program.

Michael: You. Little to no effort.

Justin: (Scoffs)

Michael: It's people like you who piss the rest of us off.

Justin: Hey, I can't help it if I'm naturally brilliant. Michael: (scoffing) Yeah..

Michael: Do you realize if you applied yourself. Like, actually applied yourself to something.

Michael: Like writing, for instance. How good you would be?

Justin: I know. I just... I just don't want to make the other people in my graduating class feel badly about themselves.

Justin: So, I have to contain my genius

Justin: You know, I can't have my parental units thinking I'm actually going to make something of my life.

Michael: Ah, yes. The field trip paying, ER bill supporting parents.

Justin: They are the reason I exist. Or at least that's what they tell me.

Justin: You kow, I don't really have any memories of the inception.

Michael: I'm not pushing, Justin.

Michael: But just know that you can tell me anything.

Justin: I know.

Michael: I love you.

Justin: Dito.

( Soft Music & Ocean waves crashing)

(soft music & ocean waves crashing) Justin: Can we stay here?

(Soft music & Ocean waves crashing)

Michael: All I'm saying is..

Justin: Shh. I just need to complete this thought.

Justin: There. What were you saying?

Michael: All I'm saying, is you can't draw a fair comparison of the two.

Justin: Valentine's Day is just another excuse for oversensationalized consumerism.

Michael: Way to kill the romantic vibe.

Justin: Not.. kill, Michael. But tame.

Justin: I mean. Being romantic shouldn't be limited to only one day per year.

Michael: It's only limited if you rely it that way.

Michael: Otherwise, it's just a fun way to show someone they matter.

Justin: Well, I would never rely on a twenty four hour excuse for a holiday to be romantic.

Justin: But, I also wouldn't be the idiot who refused to take advantage

Justin: of an opportunity to let someone know they mattered.

Michael: (Exasperation noise) Jerk!

Justin: Not the response I was hoping for.

Michael: After that debate. And here I made you this nice lunch and got you something.

Justin: You got me something? what is it? Let me see it, let me see it, let me..

Michael: No. I don't want to show you now.

Justin: Please.

Michael: No. You'll just have to wait until after Brooke's party.

Justin: After?! Are you serious?

Michael: Very. I have to get dressed.

Michael: Thank you for the rose.

Justin: Fine. I'll just sit here and work on my assignement.

Justin: And try not to be disillusioned about the extent to which I matter, to someone.

Justin: On Valentines Day.

Michael: I assure you. It will be worth the wait.

Justin: You can't just do that. You know what it does to me.

Michael: Oh, I know. Believe me I know.

Michael: Is that the new schedule for spring?

Justin: Yep. It's time to set forth a course of educational goals for another quarter.

Michael: Interesting choices. So what is the goal here, Justin?

Justin: To avoid adult life as long as possible.

Michael: You mean, as long as your dad has an open checkbook.

Justin: What's that supposed to mean?

Michael: Nothing. Just..Let's just get ready.

Justin: You know what, No! You don't just get to say something like that to me. and then walk away with a, nothing

Michael: It just seems like maybe you'd be ready to actually, I don't know, do something.

Michael: Take a little responsibility.

Justin: Be responsible. I have been nothing but the model son for that oh so proud father of mine.

Michael: Look, I know this is a touchy subject for you.

Justin: No, you kow what. You get to be a lot of things to me, Michael. But you do NOT get to judge me.

Michael: I am not judging you.

Justin: Oh really?!

Michael: I.. (sigh) You know what? Were gonna put this on pause.

Justin: Pause?

Michael: A pause, Justin.

Michael: It means were gonna stop for now and get ready for the party that you promised we would help set up.

Michael: I am not going to do this out in a hurried manner. It's too damned important.

Justin: Fine.

Justin: Pause.

(Dramatic music)

(Dramatic music. (Justin sighs and slams laptop closed)

(Dramatic music)

Justin: Unpause? Is that breaking a rule?

Justin: My father has had my life in a vice since he learned about my gay... tendencies.

Justin: I opened my journal to you. I tried to let you look inside.

Justin: And believe me when I tell you, that wasn't easy.

Justin: That man goes out of his way to remind me of his rules and expectations.

Justin: Twice a quarter. Like every other loving father.

Justin: I may not qualify to be his pride and joy. But I have earned every penny I get.

Justin: Whether he knows it or not. I am collecting on a debt. That he owes me!

Justin: Pause!

(Dramatic music)

Michael: Unpause?

Michael: I am sorry, Justin.

Michael: I'm sorry that life has handed you a fate that will forever subject you to being judged.

Michael: I'm sorry we live in a world where being gay either means you are the side show freak

Michael: Or the cute puppy in the window.

Michael: We deserve better than to live our lives as some type of public display.

Michael: We may not be able to control how we are treated.

Michael: But we do have the ability to change..how we treat ourselves.

Michael: At some point, regardless of the wrongs put upon you.

Michael: The only person that owes you anything. Is you.

Michael: Pause.

Michael: I can see you have something to say, Justin. Just unpause.

Justin: No. You know what? You don't get to be a condescending asshole, OK!

Justin: And you don't get to decide who owes me what!

Justin: This is not your life and you don't understand!

Michael: Cause you won't let me understand, Justin.

Justin: Maybe I have a good reason for that, Michael.

Michael: And, yet..

Justin: No! No And Yet OK! It's not up to you! Michael: Justin.

Justin: I am doing the best I can right now. Michael: Justin. Justin: And I don't need you judging me for it.

Justin: No! Just no!

Justin: I can't be what you expect right now. Maybe you need to decide if you can accept that.

Justin: I'm gonna go help Brooke.

Justin: Pause!

Brooke: Alright, Spill it.

Justin: Sorry?

Brooke: Cut the innocent act, Mister and spill. What did you do?

Justin: What makes you think I did something?

Michael: Well considering the fact that your man looks just as miserable as you do

Brooke: I'm going to guess you two are fighting. And chances are good that you could resolve it.

Justin: Well. For your information. We are not technically, as of this moment, fighting

Justin: Because, we're on a pause.

Brooke: Pause? OK, you are making this party A serious downer. You need to get your ass out there and fix things!

Brooke: He loves you! And I know you love him - even if you can't say the words.

Brooke: He is the best thing to come your way since you moved here.

Michael: Hey..since it's valentines day I'd like to sing a song for someone very special in my life.

(Michael playing keyboard)

Michael: (Singing) I can only hope that you will stay.

Michael: (Singing) Let me look again in to your eyes.

Michael: (Singing) Cause our love is gonna cover up the fights.

Michael: (singing) And this day will serve us well as life arrives.

Michael: (Singing) Without you, life would be too much. It's the simple things.

Michael: (Singing) And the way you trust.

Michael: (Singing) All I want is to see the light of your loving arms in mine.

(Michael playing keyboard)

(Michael's fingers miss a note on the keyboard)

(Michael playing the keyboard)

(Applause) Ben: Alright! Girl: Awww.

Justin: Can we unpause?

Michael: Justin, I.. Justin: Michael, Thank you. That was beautiful.

Michael: I'm sorry.

Justin: Why are you appologizing to me?

Michael: Because I shouldn't push you.

Michael: Everyone has to find their own way. And it's not fair to push my agenda onto your life.

Justin: I don't know what my agenda is. I just know I want to be on yours.

Michael: You are the best part of my agenda, Justin.

(Justin quiet sigh and cry)

Michael: Would I eat space food? Justin: On mars.

(Mark scoffs and laughs) Ben: What?

Justin: Would I? Michael: Maybe on Saturn.

Ben: No!

Michael: Am I unicorn? Justin: Yeah! Am I a dragon? Michael: Yeah!

Michael & Justin: Drink, Drink up!

Brooke: Alright, that's it! I know you two are cheating.

Justin: What? I am wounded. I am Truly deeply hurt by your accusation. Michael: Yeah.

Mark: I think she may be right. You two are highly suspect.

Brooke: Don't give me the puppy dog eye look, misters.

Mark: Ah, Crap. I need to all my parents. I forgot that this next weekend is parents weekend.

Michael: Oh man, Parents weekend. What a nightmare that was. Ben: Tell me about it.

Michael: Are your parents coming?

Justin: You're talking about my parents, right? Michael: I just thought...

Justin: No. They will not be joining us. I'm actually going to go see them this weekend.

Justin: Apparently it is time for another family meeting.

Michael: Next weekend? I thought that we were... Justin: Just for 24hours - I promise.

Justin: And then I'm yours for all of spring break to do whatever you wish with.

Justin: And then I'm yours, for all of spring break, to do whatever you wish with.

Brooke: Woah! Hey!

Ben: Excuse me! Are we gonna get back to playing the game or what?!

Justin: Yes! Definitely.

Todd: Next round, inanimate objects. Brooke: I'm watching you two.

Justin: Ooo, oh, She's watching us. Michael: I'm scared Justin: Oh no, what are we gonna do?

Justin: We can't do anything while she's watching.

(Justin's father's cell phone ring tone)

Justin: Justin Johnson. I'm sorry.

Brooke: It's his dad. Michael: Oh.

Ben: He sucks.

Michael: Hey.

Justin: (quietly) Hi.

Michael: So, that was the father.

Justin: (quietly) Yeah.

Michael: You ok?

Justin: (crying) I wish.

Michael: It's never simple is it?

Justin: It doesn't have to be as hard as he makes it.

Michael: Agreed.

Justin: I wish I didn't..

Michael: I know.

Justin: Then why...

Michael: Because he's your dad. Who doesn't want their dad to support them?

Michael: Come on. Let's go whoop their butts with these inanimate objects.

Justin: Ok.

Michael: Yeah?

(Restaurant ambience)

Michael: Take out for Michael Garner.

Michael: Justin?

Justin: Michael! Hey.

Michael: Are..these your parents?

Justin: Um. Yeah. Greg and Cynthia Johnson. This is Michael Garner. He's a friend.

Mr Johnson: Michael, are you going to univeristy as well?

Michael: Actually...

Justin: Yeah, he's in the engineering program.

Mr Jonhson: Unusual uniform for an engineering student.

Justin: Are you working tonight?

Michael: Yeah. My friend cancelled our plans. So I picked up an extra shift.

Mr Johnson: Justin could never hack it in a program as complicated as engineering.

Michael: Something like that.

Mr Johnson: You know I've paid so many bills to that ER. I could fund it for a century.

Michael: Well he does seem accident prone.

Michael: Well, It was a pleasure to meet you both. I really should get to work. Got to pay those tuition bills.

Justin: We're going to be a big group project as soon as spring term starts. I'll be right back.

Justin: Michael. Michael, wait.

Michael: What do you want, Justin?

Justin: Please, let me explain.

Michael: Explain what? The lie? Or the lie to cover-up the lie?

Michael: Or the fact that you're ashamed of me and what I do?

Michael: The everything you said in there was complete and utter bullshit! (Michael opens car door)

Justin: (Slams door shut) Michael, I swear I'm not ashamed of you. And, I haven't lied to you.

Jusitn: Not about anything important.

Michael: Good to know (Michael opens the car door)

(Justin slams the door shut) (Michael laughs out of frustration)

Michael: I am not a violent person, Justin. But I swear to God, if you do that again. (Michael opens the car door)

(Justin slams door shut) Michael: Justin!

Justin: Please. Please.

Justin: There is an explaination.

Michael: What I think, is that you're a lying, hiding, scared little kid.

Michael: And I don't date liars or kids, ok?! (Michael opens the car door)

Justin: (CLoses the door) NO!

Justin: You don't understand. I was trying to protect you.

Michael: I am not a child, Justin. I don't require your protection.

Justin: (whisper) I'm sorry.

Justin: I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that my parents were going to be here.

Justin: I didn't know how to...

Michael: You didn't? Please! You run that mouth a million miles a minute and somehow, this..didn't come up?

Justin: How was I supposed to work this into a normal conversaton? (Michael laughs in disbelief)

Justin: I knew that if I said anything about you being a nurse, that I would have to sit there and listen to that man

Justin: Talk about you and judge you. And I wasn't going to let that happen.

I wasn't going to let..those people.. Hurt someone I love.

Michael: Wha'd you say?

Justin: I'm so proud of you, Michael. And what you do. And to be with you.

Michael: No. You said, you weren't about to let them hurt..

Justin: Someone I love.

Justin: I love you, Goddamnit!

Justin: And I'm not gonna let you walk away, just because that son of a bitch!

Michael: Hey.

Michael: I love you too.

(Crying)

Justin: I have to go back inside before they come out.

Michael: We'll talk tomorrow.

Michael: If I open this - are you gonna shut it again?

Justin: I'll let you go. Just for tonight.

Michael: Please. Don't turn your back on him.

Mr Johnson: You're the last person I want to talk to about my ss..Justin.

Michael: your SON, wants you in his life.

Mr Johnson: What makes you think you know what he wants?

Michael: Because I love him.

Mr Johnson: I told him last night. You and your kind. You don't understand love.

Mr Johnson: How could you? It's unnatural.

Mr Johnson: He has to choose. You're life style. Or mine.

Michael: What kind of life is that, exactly? Being gay is not a choice, Mr Johnson.

Michael: Do you honestly think someone would choose a life where they are subjected to hatred and prejiduce?

Mrs. Johnson: Please Greg, Let's go. We don't want to be late.

Michael: Oh, no, please. Don't be late. Just because your son...

Mr Johnson: My, Justin will be fine. and then he will come home. And he will live the lifestyle he's supposed to live.

Mr Johnson: He can't do any of this without me.

Michael: Actually, I believe he can achieve more without you holding him down.

Michael: He is one of the smartest, most articulate, incredibly brave, strong and loving men I have ever met.

Michael: And all he asks, wants from you, is to accept him and love him for who he is. All he is.

Mr Johnson: All, as you put it. Is not what he should be.

Michael: According to you.

Mr Johnson: According to society Mr, Garner.

Michael: That is changing, Mr. Johnson.

Mr Johnson: He has two options, Mr Garner. You're way - or mine.

Michael: I think, Mr Johnson. He will choose his own way.

Mr Johnson: Then that will be his loss.

Mr Johnson: Cynthia.

Michael: No! Mr and Mrs Johnson.

Michael: I am most certain the loss will be yours.

Justin: Creative writing. Who knew right?

Brooke: Oh my God, I can actually see that.

Mark: Congrats man, I'm glad things are looking up.

Justin: It's not everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. But, actually, it's better.

Justin: And, I get to wake up to his beautiful face in the morning, instead of your ugly mug.

Mark: What he means, is he finally found a way to bring the ER to him.

Justin: Yeah. Good thing. Without the parents financial support, no more trips to the ER.

Brooke: Does that include school expenses?

Justin: (Clear throat) they, uh, cut me off.

Justin: But, I've applied for financial aid, grants and scholarships. I should

Justin: be able to get out of school without too much debt. If I stick to a budget

Mark: I'm sorry. I thought you were Justin Johnson? Have you see him?

Justin: He saved my life.

Mark: He, uhh. He told us about that night.

Justin: Yeah, I mean, that too. But..

Justin: I'm just not the same Justin Johnson I used to be.

Justin: I mean obviously it's still me.

Justin: with him, everything else is different.

Justin: Just go sit with our friends, ok.

(Music) Justin: (clears throat) Hey. Hey everybody. This is um, this is going to be a little

Justin: different than what you're used to.

Justin: This one's for you, Michael.

Justin: (singing) Once there was a time I was lost.

Justin: (singing) No future plans were foreseen.

Justin: Reckless, Angry. No matter the cost.

Justin: My soul in need.

(Justin plays the guitar solo)

Justin: (Singing) A puzzle scattered out on the floor.

Justin: (Singing) The pieces, they mattered no more.

Justin: (singing) Lost, lonely, behind the disguise.

Justin: (singing) The tree, The limb, The ER, Stop.

Justin: (Singing) A look, A nurse, It stopped my heart.

(Piano plays)

(Piano plays) Justin: Michael. What you have given me I'll never be able to repay.

(Piano plays) Justin: But I'm ready to try. I'm ready to spend the rest of my life trying.

(Piano plays) Justin: You've given me more than I ever could have hoped for, Michael.

(Piano plays) Justin: My heart really does stop when you look at me.

(Piano plays) Justin: Wherever you go. That's where I belong.

(Piano plays) Justin: No regrets. No turning back.

(Silence)

Justin: Michael Garner.

Justin: Will you marry me?

Michael: Yes! Oh, my God - Yes!

(Applause)

Justin: I love you so much.

Michael: I love you.

Justin: We're getting married.

Justin: (Voice over) The health of an echosystem depends on diversity.

Justin: (Voice over) And we, the great naked apes of the earth might try to remember this.

Justin: (voice over) Remember that the human experience is made more beautiful

Justin: (voice over) by the contribution of individuals Who enrich our lives

Justin: (voice over) and expand our perspectives.

Justin: (Voice over) Not by being normal, but by being weird.

Justin: (Voice over) And uniqe. And different from ourselves.

Justin: (Voice over) So, I came out of the trees.

Justin: (voice over) I stopped living vicariously on tree branches

Justin: (Voice over) I quit living in fear of an uncertain future.

Justin: (voice over) I took the offer of an outstretched hand.

Justin: (Voice over) An offer that came without condition or restriction.

Justin: (Voice over) I stopped running circles around the limitations of my parents bigotry.

Justin: (Voice over) And I found that I was standing on a solid foundation

Justin: (Voice over) that did not require their validation or acceptance.

Justin: (Voice over) I stopped trying to fix everything that I was told was wrong with me

Justin: (voice over) and was finally able to embrace myself.

Justin: (Voice over) and allowed myself to have what I deserved.

Justin: (Voice over) Then I found my purpose. Maybe everyone's purpose.

Justin: (Voice over) To love ourselves and one another for who we are - All that we are.

Justin: (voice over) Making up our own definition for love

Justin: (Voice over) For a home. For success.

Justin: (Voice over) For family.

Justin: (Voice over) Stengthening relationships with those who accept us for the one and only essential factor.

Justin: (Voice over) The one quality we all have in common.

Justin: (Voice over) We are human.

Justin: (Voice over) That sense of equaltiy and unconditional acceptance

Justin: (Voice over) Allows our souls to stir and shine

(Justin: Voice over) To find support. Give and care for one another.

Justin: (Voice over) Our biological ties are not always the one's that will carry us when we are weak.

Justin: (Voice over) Nor are they the ones we can count on to celebrate when we succeed.

Justin: (Voice over) We don't always get a happily ever after.

Justin: (Voice over) But if we hold on.

Justin: (Voice over) We can achieve a Happy after everything else.

Justin: (Voice over) My father, wanted only two things.

Justin: (Voice over) He could have had so much more.
