The Age of Gods was closing. Eternity had come to an end.
The heavens shook as the armies of Falis, God of Light,
clashed with those of Falaris, God of Darkness.
In the unceasing battle which followed, the earth wept.
The seas boiled.
At last, each side had but one survivor,
Marfa, Goddess of All Creation, and Kardis, Goddess of Destruction,
who met in a clash which echoed to the ends of the earth.
At the end of the fierce battle
a new land was born, split off from the continent.
And the life's fires of the goddesses of Light and Darkness flickered and died away.
Thousands of years have since passed.
And now, the land to the south of the continent of Alecrast
has become known as, "Lodoss--The Accursed Island.โ
The way that you embrace me from behind
The words of your land you softly whisper to me
Romantic in a way that almost tears at my heart
I am your prisoner
lo sono prigioniera
Tonight you have gently bound me up within your arms, my love
And even if the morning sun rose upon the both of us
It wouldn't shine near as bright as your dark eyes do to me
"Prologue to the Legendโ
So, this is the Dwarves' Great Tunnel, huh?
They say you could buy dwarf goods here for a good price.
It must have been home to many skilled dwarf craftsmen.
That was a long time ago.
Hey, you sure we gotta go through here to get to Wort's place?
There are safer paths to take, but we haven't the time.
Ew, it smells so moldy in here!
You don't like it, then stay behind!
Better that than having an elf befouling my ancestors' home!
I beg your pardon?!
Ghim! Deedlit! Both of you, stop it!
If we don't get to Wort soon, all of Lodoss could be in danger!
I know, but...!
I'm only doing this because I want to.
Nobody's forcing you to tag along!
Excuse me?!
This isn't the place for you both to be arguing!
Wood!
Get inside! We're sitting ducks out here!
Right, move it!
"...who have been hardened by the gods.
Throw off these false garments and reveal your true forms.
Creators of all things, shield us from this evil..."
What a waste. We'd get a good price for this if it was finished.
Oh, it's beautiful!
Hey, what do you think?
We're not here for that.
It suits you. Really!
Thanks.
Who's there?!
Some evil presence is interfering with our journey.
None may escape time's march, or so they say...
Has it really been so long since the battle in the labyrinth's depths?
Who are you?
Was it not you who vowed to protect me
before you charged that demon? My dear Wort.
Ah yes, the memories surface within you.
Of your companions, the Six Heroes.
B-But...!
What is a body?
A mere dress, to be worn or discarded with the ages.
How much further does it go?
We'll just have to trust Ghim's intuition while we're in here.
What'd you expect?! The size of the Great Tunnel is legendary!
Just get us out! I don't fancy losing my head down here!
Relax, lad. This isn't a maze we're wandering.
If we keep moving forward, we'll find the way out.
Takes a long time when the dwarf's leading, doesn't it?
This place is really giving me the creeps.
No! Leave it be!
Deed!
--Let go! --My hand!
Parn!
--Bloody hell! --Deed!
You're going to seek out the sage, Wort?
Yes, majesty.
Kannon and Alania have already fallen to the Marmo forces.
The only remaining regular troops are those here in Valis.
Wort may tell you what you seek to learn
but there is no guarantee you'll make it back safely.
I know, majesty. But only the sage can tell us
what we need to know about that witch, Karla.
That armor?!
A legacy of my father, a former retainer of yours.
King Fahn.
King Kashue.
I like that boy, Parn. Good eyes on him.
I never thought I'd meet the son of Tessius.
No. Deep down, I knew I would.
Tessius?!
I have never so cursed my position as I did that time.
Parn. Come through this safely.
So, where are we?
It would seem we've been invited into a secret hall of sorts.
What's that?
Oh, don't you know?
Look!
Anyway, we'd better get out of here and rejoin the others.
What's wrong?
Take a look at this.
It's...
Some sort of mural, I think.
Hold on.
"Spirit of light, mother that nourishes plants, come unto me."
What the...?
I've heard about this story.
The time of the final battle had come.
Falaris, God of Darkness, led an army of 1,000 ancient dragons
and evil gods against Falis, the Supreme.
It was a vicious battle,
Falis and his forces of Light against Falaris' army of Darkness.
The gods were finally destroyed by their own great power.
It's a very old legend.
They were destroyed by their own power?
I suppose it means they grew too powerful for their own good.
If they were that powerful, a war wasn't really necessary, was it?
That's a strange thing for a would-be hero to say, Parn.
Uh, well... I just meant...
I don't understand you humans at all.
But then, I suppose that's what makes you so fascinating.
"To my staff I call the power to turn back the darkness."
Handy little thing to have around.
Come on! We have to save Parn!
Don't worry, the elf girl's with him.
The air currents will show her the way out, sure enough.
Can't figure it.
You and Deed are always at each other's throats, but now you compliment her!
Shut yer hole! Only a human would let his feelings
keep him from recognizing someone's skills!
"Sylph, spirit of wind.
Let thy currents guide us to the surface.
Sylph, spirit of wind.
Let thy currents guide us to the surface."
Thank you, Sylph.
You, once of the Six Heroes, now feared as the Gray Witch.
What are you up to now?!
Are you aware of the dragon who hates being awakened
who lives near the exit of the Great Tunnel?
What is it, Deed?
Hey, what's the hold-up?!
Is something wrong, Slayn?
--Deed! --Shh! Not a sound!
I'll lead him off. You break for that passage.
Don't be ridiculous!
Deed, what's its weak point?!
How am I supposed to know?!
Damn!
Slayn!
--Are they all right?! --Oh, for the love of...!
--Slayn! --You all right?
Hell! That thing's gonna eat us!
Then we'll just have to eat him first!
Parn's in over his head! Ghim, what are you waiting for?!
Silence, elf! A dwarf fights by his own lore!
Parn!
Ghim!
Ghim!
Now!
Now's our chance!
The exit! We made it!
The obstacle is cleared, as I said it would be. Now then...
Let us wait. That is why I have come, after all.
As you wish. It's no concern of mine.
All of Lodoss is trembling.
That fate will balance the scales of history...
...is all that I desire.
The heroes' journey has only just begun.
And before them lies an unimaginable destiny.
Let the wonders come to me
The Fantasia fills my heart
I shall not wander anymore, all for the love I have for you
The fairies of the wind, spread their wings out to fly
Racing at the speed of light, down through the valley of time
Our falling in love was destiny
On this night which seems to have no end
Eternity awaits you and me, now that you are here
Lay down your head upon my breast, and go to sleep, my love
