Original subtitles

It's probably the most important thing in my life at the moment,

to find love again.

I don't want to settle for just someone.

I want THE one.

Hi!

Australia's biggest social experiment...

Whoo!

..has returned.

I'm so ready to put my heart out there again.

A lot of heartbreak in the past,

but as soon as she walks down the aisle,

I'm hoping I've found my person forever.

Where the pursuit of love...

Feeling really confident and beautiful.

..has never looked...

SHE LAUGHS

Ohh! You OK?

..so different.

You're precious cargo.

I forgot my bouquet.

This is nice.

THUNDER CLAPS Everyone went nuts.

She's going to have her baby.

Where am I meant to hold on to?

Whoa!

Hi.

Oh, wait, that's not it? Oh! LAUGHTER

Before...

PHONES CHIMING

Stuff's been leaked.

Did you hear about one of the grooms?

..the experiment...

Oh, my God.

..is rocked to its core.

This story is shocking.

Leading to the comment...

Shut your mouth!

Can you muzzle your woman?

Are you serious?

..that will divide the experiment.

You've always been a grandstander!

Ohh.

WOMEN EXCLAIM

I will literally ruin you.

This season...

If there are actual feelings, where is the sex?

..the experts will take no prisoners.

Can I just bat...? No, you can't.

You're going to sit and listen.

As some take love to new heights...

Eden, I love you.

What?! ALL GASP

I've got some bad news.

..which participant has done a runner?

48 hours after the Buck's and Hen's Night,

your ideal match decided to cut and run.

Which means at this stage, we don't have a match for you.

And which groom will be exposed...

There's no coming back from this.

..in one of the most confronting scandals...

Oh, my God.

..in MAFS history?

SHE SOBS You all right?

Oh, God, are you serious?!

I've heard some things in these experiments...

You need to leave right now! Get out!

..that have repulsed me.

Leave me alone! Go home!

That is right up there.

So, I'm going to cut to the chase.

We need to just kick you out.

The Married At First Sight experiment is about to begin...

..as our brides and grooms on their quest for love

make their way to the traditional Buck's and Hen's Night.

Do you think you might be one of the youngest bucks there tonight?

HE LAUGHS

Yeah, mate, nice question.

People like to judge.

When you go on a show such as this, people will judge.

How so?

Highbrow people who are into art and culture and, yeah,

as I have been in my life, and like, "What's Richard doing?

"Why is he stooping so low into the bucket of reality television?"

And all the judgment that comes with that, you know? Yeah.

The 2024 Married At First Sight experiment has officially launched,

as the first buck - and MAFS' most mature groom -

makes his entrance.

Look at this.

Didn't think I'd be the first one.

Ooh!

Ah.

My name is Richard.

I'm 62 years old.

How much do I like my own company?

If people say anything about my age, they will typically say,

"Oh, my God, you don't look 62."

And I will say to them, "Well, thanks for that complement

"but let me ask you this question.

"What does a 62-year-old look like?

"Sir or madam?

"Do you expect me to be all wrinkled and haggled?"

"What do you expect? I should bring out my stick?"

Hello! How are you, mate? How are you?

Very good. I'm Tim. Hi, I'm Richard. Richard.

Yeah. How you going? Nice to meet ya.

I think a lot of people, when they get older,

they think about making it safely to death.

I'm Tristan. Hello, I'm Richard.

Nice to meet you, Richard.

Yeah, how are you? What's your name? Tim. Nice to meet you, Tim.

But I'm entering the last 30 years of my life,

and I'm looking for the next love of my life.

I'm committed. I'm into this. Bring it on.

That's it, bring it on! Let's do it!

Yeah, no, I'm ready!

I'm ready. I'm ready.

All right, boys, we're the first three, so cheers.

Cheers. Cheers, mate. Cheers, cheers, cheers.

To hopefully last night being single, which is good.

Richard, how old are ya? 62.

62. Oh, you're looking good.

Thank you, mate. Looking good for 62.

On the other side of Sydney...

Oh, my goodness. Sydney's so pretty.

..a very nervous bride, Nat,

is making her way to this year's Hen's Night.

I'm definitely one of those people who laugh when they are nervous -

laugh to hide pretty much all emotions.

It's just always meeting new people is exciting,

but it's kind of nerve-racking, as well.

You just don't know who's going to be there,

what they'll think of you.

I'm quite different to a lot of girls.

I'm definitely not a Bondi babe by any stretch of the imagination.

Pale skin, don't do well in the sun.

Burn like a crisp.

At times I've felt like...

..I wasn't good enough,

wasn't, you know, all done up and pretty enough.

Teeth are too big, I smile too gummy,

I've got wrinkles in the side of my eyes.

I'm too short, I'm pale.

You're about to embark on ten weeks of, you know,

extreme relationship experiment. Yes.

What are you most excited about?

Falling in love.

Oh, that's the right answer.

Right there.

I just want to find someone who

can give back what I put in,

and they feel proud to be in a relationship with me.

GLASS CLINKS

DISTANT SHIP HORN HONKS

OK.

I've been told I'm too much, too ambitious.

"You want too much. You can't have it all."

I want the kids, the husband,

the house, you know, the good jobs

with a nice European SUV.

Hi! Hi! I'm Tori.

I'm Natalie. Nice to meet you.

How many kids do I want?

Like, three?

Mm. No, not four, cos then you have no option

but to have ugly, like, people-movers as cars.

Two or three.

You need to keep it within the five seats.

What's your go-to? Like, what's your type?

I like a bit of a nerdy man.

Like a bit of an IT guy.

Someone who could touch-type. SHE GASPS

And if he can code - oh!

SHE GIGGLES Right.

How do I explain Nat?

She's a simple girl.

But I don't mind the short guys.

It doesn't take much to be taller than me.

And I don't mind a dad bod.

SHE LAUGHS

We are so different.

She strikes me as like a girlie-girl.

SHE GIGGLES

Like, giddy and giggly, and happy - and I'm just like, "Ohh.

"You're not for me." What about you?

Erm...probably not the nerdy IT guy.

Love it for you. Yeah.

For me, it's more like the athletic...

..tall, broad shoulders.

You know, like, very dominant.

I started Muay Thai kick boxing when I was 13.

I'm current WBC world-ranked number one cruiserweight in the world.

And I'm one of the most renowned knockout artists on the planet.

And that's just facts.

COMMENTATORS: Oh! That's it. Right hand, he's out.

Evening, boys.

Hello! How is everyone? Tristan. Tristan. Jayden, nice to meet you.

Tim. Tim, Jayden. Nice to meet ya.

I'm Richard. Richard. Very nice to meet you, sir.

How is everyone?

RICHARD: Jayden.

Wow, you know, he's quite a striking character.

Strong face, you know?

Ah, yeah it's just like, whoa.

So, what do you do for work, Jayden?

My full-time job is kick boxing.

Oh, that's your full-time job is kick boxing?

Yeah, twice a day, every day, six days a week. Really?

But I'm as far from what you'd think. Yeah.

Yeah. OK. Fair, good. Yeah, bit of a softie on the inside.

Yeah, fair.

I'm not everything that I appear,

and that's what a lot of people don't understand, you know?

I like to fight big knockouts in front of big crowds,

but then, I'm coming home for snuggles and back tickles.

HE LAUGHS Yeah!

Yeah! Yeah, I'm a softie, a love bug.

Yeah, I love love.

I get pretty romantic. Oh, yeah, nice.

I don't really have a typical type, to be honest.

Just a good-looking senorita. Just, just good...

Nah, not even that. Good heart.

If you have a type,

that's obviously what you've gone for in the past. Yeah.

But it hasn't worked out - and that's exactly why we're here.

Exactly right. So maybe it's time that we be a bit more

open-minded, I think. Yeah.

# Breathe... #

I feel good. Lu, Lu, Lu.

I'm Lucina Light. I'm 43, living in Byron Bay.

I'm a sister. I'm a daughter.

I'm a creatrix.

I'm somebody that loves to wildly express myself.

Oh, my goodness! Hi!

Hi. I'm Tori. Hi, Tori, I'm Lucinda.

Nice to meet you. Lovely to meet you, gorgeous.

You look fabulous! So do you. Thank you.

What are you hoping for?

I mean, I don't know if you want to see this,

but I have actually popped it... I...

..on a scroll.

So...

HE CHUCKLES

Fire away.

Somebody that's really confident with nothing to prove,

generous of spirit, knows himself, a great cook, evolutional living,

good communication, good sense of humour.

Must have. Absolutely!

Cos you're fun. I want him to laugh at the cosmic joke that's life.

HE LAUGHS

Emotionally intelligent would be delightful.

Just, like, practical and steady - cos I'm not that practical.

And one more.

He's gotta be good, er, with his clothes off.

Is that where you were going?

High-functioning erection. That was where you were going.

Erm...well, in the general area, yeah.

We've got some work to do.

Oof. Yeah.

So, Tori and Nat. Yes. Yay.

What's on the manifesto?

The man-ifesto.

For me, it's like, well-established, secure.

Yeah. Doesn't have a big ego.

Confident, but with nothing to prove.

Correct.

I want a nerdy guy. Cute.

You're a bit of an intellect, and you need somebody

to challenge you on that level. Yeah! Yeah.

Good for you. I love nerds.

Loved Lucinda.

Here's another one. Yay!

Oh, she was just a ball of radiant energy.

I'm such a nerd.

I bought a notebook and pen to write down everyone's names.

Dun-da!

You gotta be gentle with the pen.

Ellie, purple.

THEY LAUGH Nat, peach floral.

Tori's on fire.

Come on.

Yes, we got another one!

THEY EXCLAIM

There was some really beautiful, gorgeous women there.

Fully they're ready, you know, sleeves up for whatever's ahead.

We're getting married! SHE LAUGHS

This moment, we're just in the magical mystery applecart.

I don't know what to call it, but we're on it, and it's going,

and there's no getting off right now.

This is exquisite on you. Thank you!

This was the colour. Isn't it...?

It's the colour of transcendence. I love that.

With our remaining brides and grooms arriving,

ready to begin the experiment...

THEY EXCLAIM

Walk me down the altar.

Let me meet my beautiful husband and live happily ever after.

Boys!

..they're putting their trust into the experts to turn over

a new leaf and to start a new relationship chapter...

I've been married in my 20s. Was it a high school sweetheart?

Ah, she actually was with my best friend in high school. Oh!

And then, I married her.

Mr Steal Your Girl! THEY CHEER

..on their journey to find true love.

God, I love a red flag.

If I see a red flag, I literally come running at it.

I'm like, "Yay, red flag!" I'm the worst.

Sorry, I'm touching my face, I've got...

I've got really dry sore lips.

I got them sunburnt in Bali.

Sorry.

Erm...

WOMEN EXCLAIM

Hello, how are you? I'm a giant.

THEY LAUGH

I do meet a lot of men, but I just haven't found

someone that tickles my fancy -

or tickles anything else.

What are you guys thinking?

Like, who would be your ideal person to be matched with?

What are you looking for?

Erm, big heart.

I thought you were going to say something else, then, I was like...

Oh, no. Like, big heart, big personality.

I want to say everyone's loving Lauren.

What is your wedding mantra?

I think mine would be just, like, open mind, open heart.

Open legs. No!

But you can see there's a little bit of, like, resistance there.

And I love it.

Have a feeling they're going to put me with someone a bit more

established, and maybe older.

Mm. Like, what's your limit older?

Darling, you're not stealing my man.

Seriously - nobody's safe.

THEY LAUGH

She's not joking!

Your dad and your brother.

All of your friends. Your boss, your colleagues.

Lauren is definitely one to watch in this experiment.

She says anything - and will probably do anything.

Her groom better be ready for her.

Let's talk about positive things.

What about, guessing what your man's going to look like?

What does she want to play again?

Oh, that's more fun!

It's your last night as a single man.

HE CHUCKLES Yes.

It is my last night as a single man,

and I don't think I can be more prepared to jump

into the marriage life.

Done with the singleness. Done with those days.

I don't know if this is the small-town boy in me,

but I've feel like I've known that I wanted a family

since I was like 16.

I grew up in Ohio, back in the United States.

I'm the oldest of two sisters, three brothers.

I baby-sat a lot.

And I can always just remember saying one day,

I want a family and kids. One day, I want a family and kids.

And one day, I'm going to have a family and kids.

And so, you got a driver of settling down, commitment,

wanting a deeper connection.

I definitely want to get married.

I've always seen myself as somebody getting married.

I've been thinking about getting married, God, for...

..decades now, let's just say that.

So, I want somebody that's willing to just dive in,

find love, start a family.

I'm ready for the whole nine yards.

I am delighted to have you on board.

It's just going to be a fantastic eight weeks of seeing you

and how it all unfolds.

Yeah, I-I'm nervous, but I think I could do this.

You're authentic and you're in, and you want it -

and that's exactly what we need. Yeah.

How many is coming? Maybe ten? I think it's ten.

Oi, here he is! Another one!

Hey, hey, hey, hey. Another one?

Boys! Hey.

What's going on, mate?

What do you think your lovely husband will look like?

I actually asked for like, tall, dark and handsome. Where's...

Tall, dark, handsome. Someone, you asked for that too.

Yeah, yeah! Guys, seriously, I need it more than any of you.

Ladies!

Hi.

I am the new bride.

HE LAUGHS THEY CHEER

I'm Michael - Michael, yes.

I'm Ellie, how are you? Hi. Really lovely to meet you.

How exciting! Hello, I'm Andrea. That is beautiful.

So, my type is probably good, tall, dark, and handsome man.

How refreshing. Beautiful!

Michael!

Wrap me up and give me to my husband. I'm ready for it.

I've been single, ready to mingle - have been mingling...

..getting me nowhere, as you see. THEY LAUGH

I need me a man!

I'm ready to have a family. ALL: Awww.

I'm so impressed at you just being here, I'm like, yes, Michael, yes!

Oh, my God!

Michael is magnificent.

SHE LAUGHS

I was not expecting him at all.

You walked in and everyone just went, "Oh!"

When Michael walked in,

And this gorgeous, tall, dark and handsome guy...

I genuinely thought he was like a stripper.

Like...

So, is your partner at the Buck's?

Yeah, poor guy. THEY LAUGH

Oh, here we go.

Hey. Jonathan. Oh, Mr Charm. Jayden, nice to meet you.

You are one good-looking man. THEY LAUGH

What's your ideal man?

Er, like, don't have a specific type looks-wise.

I do like a nice, like, deep, masculine voice, though.

Cheers. Yeah, on the waters.

Someone who's confident in themselves.

I need someone that'll be like a good leader, as well.

Some handsome-looking fellas in here.

Everyone has killer jawlines here.

And just somebody that's mature or older.

How old are you? I'm 62.

Not by looks, you're not.

What is the one thing, when you look down the aisle,

that you don't want to see?

A look of disdain and disappointment.

I've seen the look of disappointment on many girls' face.

THEY LAUGH

So, I think when I look around, I'll be able to say,

"We're in trouble." THEY LAUGH

Or not. Yeah.

Simon, what about you? Ahem.

What are you hoping for?

Oh, just gotta be open-minded, basically.

I'm trying not to have expectations.

I got married at 25 and,

yeah, we had a child at 26,

we built a house,

but that didn't work out for me.

So, what do you look for in a girl?

Me? What am I looking for in a partner? Erm...

If you turn around and she's complete opposite to the things

that you told the judges is what you're after.

She? Ha-ha!

She, well - oh! He?

Oh, mate! Hell, yeah!

Oh, really? Hey! A boy! Well done!

So you were married before?

Yeah, my whole 20s, obviously. I've always had...

I've always had girlfriends. I come from a big European family.

My brothers and sisters are all married with kids. Yeah, yeah.

And it just took me a while to realise, you know,

what my true sexuality was.

I'm actually really happy with the way the night went.

It was a lot more... welcoming than I expected.

No, good on you man. Good for you.

With all of this year's participants assembled...

I've got hope, man. I feel like it's going to work out.

I've just realised who you remind me of. Who?

Christina Applegate.

Has anyone told you you look like Christina Applegate before? No.

..it's time for the experts to formally commence the proceedings

to this year's experiment.

How are we, gents?

THEY CHEER How are we doing?

It's Johnny! Look at you! Very sharp, I gotta say.

And help the hopeful singles...

THEY CHEER

..in their quest to find love.

Ladies and gentleman,

welcome to the MAFS experiment

and to your very last night as single people.

THEY CHEER

Look around this room.

You all share the exact same goal -

to find everlasting love.

But for all of you,

the idea of continuing to search, swipe,

double-tap, get ghosted...

It's exhausting. ..love-bombed...

Bread-crumbed, catfished,

and plain old disappointed on repeat...

Is no longer an option.

Thank you!

You guys believe that true love is possible - and it is.

In this experiment, we have really seen it happen

more than a few times,

so you better believe it's for real.

THEY GIGGLE

We will see you very soon, and you will be married!

Let the men out!

THEY LAUGH

Enjoy, guys. And we'll see you on the other side.

All right, boys, last night of being single,

and now we're about to get married,

so we all need to get up and cheers to our Bucks!

ALL: Cheers!

It's happening, baby! We're getting married!

No turning back now. Going to meet my man!

Married At First Sight 2024 is officially under way,

as we unveil the experts' very first match of this year's experiment.

My name is Sara.

I'm 29 years old.

I live in Sydney.

And I'm a nutritionist.

I went on a date with this guy, and he -

it was like the second date.

Long story short, he like, let me pay.

I laughed at his face, and I was like,

"I can't believe you just let me pay for that."

And he was like, "What?" Like so confused that I like,

called him out - cos no-one would do that.

I'm literally like, I'm embarrassed to be here right now.

Like, I pay to get my hair done,

pay to get my brows done, I paid for like, medication,

like, birth control.

The least they could do is pay for dinner.

Like, you owe me.

Gotcha.

I would say I'm a catch.

I'm very determined and career-driven.

I'm social. I'm always out. I'm always travelling,

things like that.

Sometimes I'm like, "Why am I not wived up already?"

When I was with my ex,

he ended up cheating on me multiple times

with multiple women.

But I just kept going back to him for like 4-5 years.

Even though it was toxic and manipulative,

he had an emotional pull over me,

and I couldn't help myself.

So, it's like you were holding on to hope and through that,

maintaining that connection with him -

which is, what I'm hearing or what I'm listening to your story,

it does kind of break my heart for you because, er,

I'm a true believer that people will show you who they are.

Forget about what they're saying...

I'm getting emotional. ..they will show you.

It's OK. It's not easy.

And, oh, my God, you're so not alone,

it happens to so many of us.

This is not something that is unusual.

It feels a little heartbreaking,

and I totally want to hug you, as a woman, I understand

being in that position - and yet,

I wish so much better for you.

And I hope that, coming into this experiment,

that you hold yourself at a place where you can, erm,

love yourself more than hold on to somebody who is showing you

that they don't want to be with you.

I want someone who is emotionally intelligent,

well-travelled, fit,

charismatic.

I like light-haired guys, pretty boys.

I'm Tim. I'm 31, and I'm from the Gold Coast.

I have a few online stores.

Business is going good, but, er,

I don't think I'm currently happy with my work, to be honest.

There's one thing that I've always had a dream of doing,

and that's setting up a school in Ethiopia,

because my sister's Ethiopian - she's adopted.

So, it only just makes sense.

Growing up with an adopted sister was a pretty cool experience,

cos we had quite a lot of involvement with a lot of refugees,

which is like pretty cool, cos we, you know,

got to see another side of life.

That gave me the travel bug.

cos as soon as you go somewhere else and you see a new culture,

you're like, "Whoa, this is crazy!"

You know, like, it's just a different world.

And so, for me, there's nothing like it.

I really like adventures and new experiences.

I lived in Thailand,

lived in Spain, lived in Bali, but...

..favourite country in the world is definitely Colombia.

I just got a special place in my heart for that country.

People are amazing, country is beautiful.

Culture is just on point, you know? I love it.

Hello. Hi!

So good to meet you in person. I know!

Make yourself comfortable. You look amazing.

Oh, thank you. You, too. Gosh, bueno.

We share this Latina thing, you and I.

I know that your heritage is Colombian, right? Si.

OK. Your accent is beautiful, the Colombian accent.

You speak with a Colombian accent. Oh!

Like, I knew you spoke Spanish...

Mm. ..but I just literally heard the cadences, it's beautiful.

Yeah. Thank you! You're welcome.

I do need the experts' help,

because I want a communicative relationship,

and to meet the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.

My last relationship ended pretty tumultuously.

She was being a naughty girl.

She wasn't being faithful.

And everyone sort of knew, and I was like...

Ah, you know, it's just kind of embarrassing at this stage,

just getting like... walked all over nonstop.

I want to find love.

Like, I haven't really met anyone who had that energy,

that connection with.

Like twin flames, you know?

We both need to feel that emotional connection.

There's definitely gotta be that spark, you know, that you're like,

"Whoa!" Both of you have to feel that electricity between you.

MEL: This couple have the potential to be lightning in a bottle.

They are exactly what each other has asked for,

and I believe what each other need.

Yeah, I mean, when you think about

the matches that we've made over this series,

our best match for the entire series,

in terms of their personality styles and just the chemistry that

I think will leap off the table with both of them.

And they were both very aspirational as to what they wanted,

and they're getting it on a silver platter,

with all the spice that you need.

I'm telling you, this is going to be very, very fiery.

Caliente all the way. I'm...

Just you wait.

Caliente. Calientisimo. Mm. Calientisimo.

What does that mean? "Very, very hot" - calientisimo.

I love it!

With Sara and Tim matched,

it's time to meet one of the most optimistic and resilient brides

ever to enter the experiment.

I'm here to make you yummy food, not healthy food.

SHE LAUGHS

Eat, eat, eat, eat, eat more food!

My family - I know it's cliche, but they are my world.

I should be on chicken duty. Hey, don't turn it!

Don't turn it yet! I just turned it! Ah, yah!

OK, OK, I'll leave you to it. THEY LAUGH

The happiness, the love, the strength, the support,

it's endless.

They are my favourite people on this planet.

I would not be who I am without them.

Honestly, I wouldn't even make sense.

THEY LAUGH

Now, Cass has so much lightness and joy

and the most incredibly open heart.

But I've never met someone who's had so much tragedy.

My first relationship was my high school love.

We were 14 or 15.

And I was in class, and I hear this big laugh,

big noise, I'm like, "What in the -

"oh, he's kind of cute."

We were together for probably eight years, eight years.

And then...

..one day, yeah,

he was gone.

Erm, motorbike accident.

So, that was really, really insanely, like...

..you can spend like every day with someone...

TEARFUL LAUGHTER Oh, my God!

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Yeah, that one, we would have,

yeah, definitely married - kids...

..silly matching shirts, vacations. Like he was - yeah.

Having experienced such a loss at such a young age

in your romantic development,

I'm wondering if that's caused any kind of block in,

in your capacity to open up and let someone in.

I was blocked for like almost 3-4 years after that.

And, erm, I was in a very dark space for a long time.

I couldn't feel anything.

But I-I know, I'm so ready, I'm so ready.

How do you know you're ready?

Cos I know in here.

I'm ready to receive the love.

I'm ready to give the love. I'm ready to be in love.

It's taken a long time, but I'm there. Yeah.

My perfect match is...

..charming, and he's warm.

And he's kind, big heart, big smile.

And he just sucks you in with all of this warm energy.

Come take a seat. Hello.

Tristan, hello. Mel, it's lovely to finally meet you.

It's lovely to meet you.

I've heard nothing but positive things about you, as well.

Oh, it's all correct. I love the dress by the way.

Orange is very nice! Thank you. Yes, very, very nice.

My name is Tristan, and I'm from Sydney, New South Wales.

And I'm 30.

Yeah. Not bad, but we'll do better on that one. We can do better.

My name, my name's Tristan. I'm like...

No, damn, now I just stuffed myself up.

My name's Tristan. I'm-I'm from Sydney.

I'm an entertainment manager.

I just completely cooked that. OK, let me try one more.

I know I side-track a lot. What was the question again?

HE LAUGHS Like, what was the question?

I'm getting married. How cool!

You're getting married? Married.

I didn't even know you had a girlfriend.

This is the plan, OK, I've never met my wife.

You're getting married? Yeah, I'm getting married.

Oh, Tristan! Yeah, I know, I know, I know, I know, I love you too.

Oh, I can't believe it!

My mum is by far the best person.

I'll do anything for Mum.

Mum's part of the reason I'm here today,

and Mum's the reason that got me here today.

She's like my everything, my queen. She's the best.

But she could hate me. Oh, no.

No, I'm just kidding. How can she hate you?

You're gorgeous. Love you, Mum.

You're my beautiful boy. Oh, stop it. No, you are.

I've taught you how to treat women properly.

You have, you've taught me very, very well.

And treat them with respect. Of course.

So, how are you feeling?

Oh, nervous, you know?

Why do you think that is?

Well, I've only ever had really one girlfriend before.

I always sort of think to myself,

"Why is it always such a deal for me to ask someone out?"

"Why have I been single for seven years," you know?

"Why do people choose my mates over me," you know?

It's kind of like that kind of stuff. I like,

"What's really wrong with me," I guess? I don't know.

What do you think? All I know is ugly, chubby-arse dude, I guess.

Sorry for swearing. It's ugly. It's OK. Yeah.

Is that how you see yourself? Yeah.

I used to be a really overweight kid when I was a lot younger.

And that kind of never really, kind of, leaves ya, I guess.

That's not what I see.

Well, I don't know, but thank you.

Like, that's really nice. Thank you. But like...

You're a great-looking guy.

I don't know.

How do you think you'll feel when you get into a really positive,

nurturing, supportive relationship?

It'll be awesome.

You'll see me smiling all the time. You know,

I'm a happy dude. I love walking around making people feel good.

It's one of my things, it's just great.

I want that cheerleader.

I want that team person that you do things together.

I want to find someone that I can spend the rest of my life with,

have the family, have the dogs.

My perfect man is a family man.

And I would love kids.

I want to make half of me and half of you.

And that's our little pumpkin.

Have a little rugby team or something, you know?

Trust, we're going to have a football team.

So, I'm here to find love, and I want to find love,

and have a happy ending.

Full stop. Like... HE LAUGHS

You know, I have to say, hearing Cassandra's story

and the tragedy that she's suffered has really left

a lasting impact on me.

I think it's a real credit to her,

and it tells us a lot about who she is,

her resilience and her enduring optimism.

ALESSANDRA: Tristan is so lovable.

He's just so full of life and such a nice guy.

I think she's really going to respond to that.

One of the keys here for Tristan is

going to be believing that he deserves happiness.

So, I think the combination of that with Cassandra's incredible optimism

Makes me feel very hopeful that this is going to be

a really good match.

Our first two couples -

Sara and Tim, and Cassandra and Tristan -

have been matched.

And they'll soon meet at the altar.

It's the morning of the first two weddings,

and our singles are preparing to take a big leap of faith

into the unknown of the experiment,

in the hopes of finding their happily ever after.

And helping Colombian bride Sara prepare for her big day

are her bridesmaids, Hannah and Jacqui.

Hi. Oh, hi! Hi!

Are we taking bets on who he's going to be?

What he's going to look like?

Well, I'm hoping he'll be tall...

..and handsome. SHE LAUGHS

And funny. Funny is very important.

I want an emotional connection.

I want someone to match my energy, you know?

And confident. Yeah.

It's only a short list. It's only...

THEY LAUGH

We don't ask for much. We don't ask for much!

I have been hurt in the past,

and so I'm putting my faith in the experts.

I need someone to be like 100% in for me.

Sara is so deserving of love.

She really has been mistreated in the past

with her previous relationship.

Sara needs to, like, broaden her horizons and give, yeah,

give someone different a real chance, for sure. Mm-hm.

Across town, Sara's husband-to-be, Tim,

is ready to start a new chapter in his life.

TIM: I have had my heart broken, and it hurt me a lot.

I'm fully committed to this experiment,

and I'm really looking forward to giving it my all.

How are you, bro? Hey, brother.

But a wild card that could derail the wedding is best man, Ben -

who's arrived with a fresh haircut

and is responsible for the speech.

So, Ben's here to help me get ready,

maybe give me some final words of advice.

He's going to be my hype-man today.

Whoa! Out of our whole friend group, he's probably the most, like,

goof-offy kind of guy, you know?

I think I'm more nervous than you. I think you are, aye?

But it's just about the cufflinks, honestly.

I think it's about the best man speech. Ooh.

Nah, it'll be fine.

I hope so.

Don't rise me, dude. THEY LAUGH

What could go wrong? I think if it's on a boat,

the boat could capsize.

We might hit an iceberg, go down.

The rain could come in, and of course...

..my speech - and it's not PG, so I can't repeat it here.

That will be interesting to watch unfold.

But you know what, though?

I, erm, part of my physical comedy is in cards,

and I might have printed it out on a big piece of paper, so...

I'll be great. Yeah.

See ya, mate. All right, brother, see you there, man.

Good luck. Appreciate it.

How are we? I'm excited.

And here we are.

Wow.

Thank you.

Hi. Hey. Nice to meet you.

You look gorgeous. So do you guys.

He's definitely going to have blonde hair, for sure. Yeah.

Sara is one of my closest friends.

She has very high standards and a lot of boxes to tick -

so hopefully, all of those are ticked for her.

Sara loves the finer things in life,

and she has, I guess, a certain level of standards

in a partner.

So, she won't accept just anyone.

Stop it!

Is that the celebrant or the groom? I know.

It's not me. Don't worry. Oh, my God, I was going to say!

No offence.

None taken.

First of all, I thought that was him walking down the aisle.

Very glad that it wasn't.

Tell us all about her.

She's stunning. She's, like, drop-dead.

What about your...brother?

Don't worry, I'm not his brother.

In terms of what Sara is looking for in a partner -

aesthetically, he has beautiful eyes,

beautiful teeth, perfect height,

that is a big thing for Sara.

And I want to make sure that she has the best.

SHE GASPS OK. Oh, my God, he's hot.

Hey, hello!

Yes!

Well...

Hey, guys. Oh, my God, hello!

That was a better reaction than I got.

He's cute. Oh, she'll be stoked.

Oh, my God, she's going to lose it. Mm.

He looked absolutely perfect -

had a great smile, beautiful eyes, and he looked great on paper.

It would be interesting to see if he's got a little bit more

under the surface.

SARA: I know what I want.

I'm so ready to leave behind and break old habits with my ex.

I'm here because I want to feel that feeling again,

and I want to build that with somebody that is good for me,

and is kind, and is trustworthy.

That past relationship's not going to get in my way.

I hope that the guy that I want

is standing at the end of that aisle.

Hi.

How are you? TIM: I'm good. How you doin'?

Weird. What's your name?

I'm Tim. Tim.

Sara. Nice to meet you. Pleasure.

THEY LAUGH

Oh, my God, this is crazy.

First impressions...

I'm like, yes.

Definitely my type. He's got a great smile.

He's got beautiful blue eyes.

First thing I noticed was her big smile,

pearly white teeth.

I feel a good energy. I feel a good vibe.

She's beautiful.

I want to try something to impress her.

HE SPEAKS IN SPANISH

What?! THEY GIGGLE

Habla... He speaks Spanish!

THEY LAUGH

Oh, my God. Tick!

I'm South American. You are? Where are you from?

Colombia.

THEY LAUGH

They've really nailed that, didn't they?

I think, yeah, yeah. Wow!

No, you're joking.

What?! That's crazy.

That's amazing.

Now I can practise Spanish with my wife!

We will now hear Sara and Tim

state their personal commitments to each other.

Oh, my God, I'm shaking.

"What you need to know about me is I'm wildly driven

"and incredibly disciplined,

"I'm passionate, strong-willed,

"but a big softie at heart.

"When it comes to love,

"I have encountered my fair share of setbacks."

Aww.

You're doing good, sweetie.

"Love fell short of my expectations.

"However...

"..I still hold faith that true love exists,

"patiently waiting to find its way to me.

"Now as I stand here,

"I realise that my journey led me precisely where I need to be.

"Here with you...Tim.

"I promise that if you meet me with the same level of effort

"and commitment, I will stand by your side through thick and thin

"and support you in every endeavour this experience has to offer.

"Here's to hopefully finding our happily ever after."

When she was tearing up,

I wanted to support her and wanted to, like, tell her

everything's going to be all right.

Tim, it's now time for your vows.

"Marriage, to me, is a sacred connection and commitment.

"It's a statement saying, 'This is my forever partner.'

"You've got each other's back no matter what,

"support each other, lift each other up.

"And even in tough times, you'll stick it out.

Love is passion, it's connection,

"it's a smile when you first see each other after a day's work,

"it's a mandatory slap on the booty every time we walk past each other.

THEY LAUGH

"It's laughing at each other's little funny nuances.

"Love is fulfilment and warmth.

"I'll always have your back,

"and I promise you I'll commit to really giving

"this experiment my 100%."

Everything that Tim said,

those are all things that I look for in a partner.

It's a huge win.

Sara and Tim,

it is my absolute pleasure

to now pronounce you as husband and wife.

Tim, you may kiss the bride.

Put your hands together as I introduce,

for the very first time,

the newly-married couple, Sara and Tim.

I'm like...in awe.

It's just insane.

You've just taken like everything I've said, and been like,

"Here you go, this is your person."

I'm married to Sara. It's perfect.

Just everything matches so nicely.

Erm, yeah, I mean, look, the experts nailed it.

The experiment's most nervous groom,

Tristan, is looking forward to his big day -

despite an eventful night's sleep.

I kinked my neck.

So the, the sleep was like - the bed was really comfy, but then,

I slept in a really weird posture, I'm assuming.

But the only thing I'm biggest concerned about is

it's my turning-around neck.

So, then, I was practising last night in the mirror

doing one of these ones, y'know, turning around,

and now, I'm like, it hurts.

I reckon we can go all right.

LAUGHING: Like, maybe not heaps, but we can do it a fair bit,

we can do it a fair bit.

Meanwhile, for Cassandra...

..today symbolises new hope.

Today is bittersweet.

I thought I would've been married and had kids by now

with my high school sweetheart.

That was a big loss. That was painful.

But life had other plans.

And that's OK, because it has led to this moment

right here and right now.

Joining Cassandra and preparing to walk her down the aisle

is proud father, Moddy.

Wow.

Hello. Mm!

What a vision. Thank you.

I also brought you some flowers.

Wow! What do you think?

I've never seen her look more beautiful.

Seriously, it was like, wow, wow!

You know, a sight to behold, really.

Oh, I love you my dear. Love you.

Your mother would be very, very proud.

Very, very happy. Yeah, yeah. Seriously.

Yeah, that was...the best.

The best.

Erm...yeah, she...

In 2020, the chaos and craziness of the year that was,

she passed away from cancer.

Mm.

And Mum had this big light.

Big light. You could...

SHE SOBS

But I know that she is definitely with me today.

I love my dad. He means the world to me.

I was in a very dark space for a long time,

and he helped me a lot.

Let's get you married.

You OK? Let's go! You excited?

Yeah, I'm excited.

I don't want to let go.

No, you have to. THEY LAUGH

I'm really nervous that she's not going to like me.

I, sadly, do have a very big fear of rejection.

I want someone that's loving, caring, funny.

She has a very big heart.

I'm looking for my soulmate,

and I really hope I can meet mine today.

Well, isn't this super, super lovely?

Hi, guys, I'm Tristan. I'm actually extremely,

extremely nervous right now.

So, if I ramble on a little bit that's why.

I'm Tristan. Nice to meet you. Hi. Nice to meet you.

You guys already know who I am, so...

Hello, Mum, how are you?

Wow, he's so tall.

This is way more terrifying, getting up here, than I thought -

but you all look dashing, and thank you for coming to my wedding.

How are you?

Oh, I'm over here. OK. LAUGHTER

Here we go.

Erm...so...

..I don't really know what to do at this point,

so I'll just stand here.

It's called waiting for the bride.

"Waiting for the bride." Thanks, Mum.

LAUGHTER

What was your name, sorry? Zoe.

Nice to meet you, Zoe. I'm Tristan. Nice to meet you.

I like your dress, it's very colourful. Thank you.

GULL CRIES I'm looking at this bird over there.

And look at these flowers, these are lovely, as well.

This is really good!

I talk really quick. I'm sorry. There's just so much...

There's just so much emotion.

The water is lovely.

All right, that's tucked in. That's tucked in.

All good, all good, all good, all good. What a day for a wedding.

I'm so tired, but I'm so excited. I feel tired and energy,

tired and energy.

I'm just going to go around and say "hello".

Well, I, y-y-yeah, and...

Flora is lovely.

I'm Tristan, Tristan, Tristan, Tristan, Tristan.

Like, there's too much! Like, it's too much!

Oh!

Oh!

Oh.

He's just nervous. Yes.

I definitely can't believe I'm standing at the aisle.

I'm about to get married. I'm about to meet my wife.

My mind is racing.

It's the F1 over here, you know?

I hope she likes me.

That's probably my biggest nerves, is that she'll run away

at the end of the aisle.

If she doesn't like what she sees, bro, I'll be the one doing

a runaway husband, you know? I'll be so upset.

QUIETLY: Whoa!

Hi. Hello.

I'm Tri...

Hi.

Oh, wait, that's not it? Oh!

LAUGHTER

My bad! OK! Do I turn back around now?

LAUGHTER CONTINUES Yes. OK, wait, this way? Yeah, OK.

OK. Sorry.

I have been through a lot in my life.

And I have felt alone for a very long time.

But I am so ready to be happy and in love.

Here we are. Yeah, we made it.

OK?

I'm ready to give the love.

I'm ready to be in the love.

I came to this experiment for a husband.

Someone who is funny and charming,

and he's warm, and he's kind,

big heart, big smile...

..doesn't have to have the six pack or the George Clooney features.

Personality is key for me.

I'm hoping for a fairy-tale ending.

Really hoping it works out.

QUIETLY: Oh, you look...!

You look stunning.

Thank you. Hello!

SHE GIGGLES You look beautiful.

I'm Tristan. Hi, I'm Cassandra.

Excited to meet you, Cassandra. Nice to meet you, Tristan.

I'm very happy.

Well, he's handsome!

He's just so big, and I'm so small.

He is literally a BFG - big friendly giant!

She's so pretty.

And she didn't run away! So, that's like a really,

really good start as it is.

She has a beautiful smile, as well. Like, big smile, as well.

She's even got some dimples like I do, right?

You look beautiful. Look stunning. Thank you so much.

So, so far, killing it, so... LAUGHTER

Ten out of ten, so very, very well done.

Erm...yeah, my name's Tristan. Erm...

This is Mum. Hi, hello everyone! I met your lovely family, as well.

And then, we're here today, our wedding day.

Yes, we're getting married today.

Yeah, I know.

What a day for it. It's perfect. It is so exciting!

He's got these lovely eyes, and such a fun smile.

I am drawn to him because he's so warm-hearted, so funny.

And that's a good feeling.

Tristan. Yeah. You're up. I'm going first.

Now, if you were to ask me what I'm like in a relationship,

first of all, I would say fun-loving, so get ready for

a bunch of spontaneous dates and never sitting still.

Secondly, I'm a hopeless romantic,

so get ready to be treated like the queen you deserve to be.

Thirdly, I'm a very caring and loyal person,

and once I'm in, I'm all in.

As I'm standing in front of you today, about to go on

the craziest adventures that we'll have in our lifetime,

I can promise you we'll both shine bright like a diamond.

BOTH: Aww!

They were beautiful. Thank you, thank you.

You sound like the male version of me, really.

OK, Cassandra, you're up. OK.

To my husband, Tristan...

One day I woke up and I said,

"I'm ready. I'm ready to be a wife, a best friend, a supporter,

"a mother, and I'm ready for my husband to come find me."

In the most unexpected, surprising, terrifying way

that I could not have possibly imagined,

the universe brought me you.

I'll tell you the truth when you need to hear it

and I'll help you be the best man you can be.

The one and only request I ask from you,

that you step into this new beginning with an open mind

and heart. Let's jump in without holding back.

Yeah, done. Well done. Well done. Well done.

That also made you feel like so much less nervous.

LAUGHTER

Her vows were really, really good.

It was one of the most loveliest speeches I've ever heard.

It was beautiful, it was touching.

I cannot wait to get to know this girl.

She seems really special and I'm really happy to meet her.

And with that, it's the moment you've probably been

thinking about since the second you laid eyes on each other.

Tristan and Cassandra, you may kiss.

CHEERING

WOMEN ULULATE

Married, married.

My cheek muscles like hurt a lot.

It's like I can't help smiling, you know?

She's funny, she's pretty, she's lovely.

Her family seems lovely.

It was just so, it was just, it was just hectic. I'm really happy.

All right. And you can hit that aisle.

And just come in nice and close together, guys.

While newlyweds Cassandra and Tristan

navigate their photo shoot...

You can trust me. No, I won't let you fall.

We're definitely taking you for limbo. I'm cramping.

Like, you know... No, you've got this. I'm going to pull you back up.

Ready? Sorry, Stu, she's coming back up.

She's cramping, you know?

Some might say I knocked her off her feet.

THEY LAUGH

On Sydney Harbour,

the chemistry is palpable for Sara and Tim.

Great.

And looking back towards me.

That's great.

Was I what you were expecting?

You exceed expectations.

Really? OK.

Honestly, I'm like, shocked.

Yeah. I mean, look, the experts nailed it.

I was hoping for an initial spark,

and that's definitely what I got.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

The newlyweds, Sara and Tim!

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

I'm, like, in awe.

Because Tim and I, like,

we already have a lot in common.

And he's definitely my type.

Cheers, hubby. Cheers!

So, I feel like I'm in a dream. He is perfect.

Like, I'm happy. Yeah.

And Sara is about to discover even more things she has in common

with new husband Tim.

You want some of this? Yeah.

Here, I'll give you some of that.

I'm a huge foodie. I'm a nutritionist,

so obviously food's like my life.

He's got kitchen scales. So, do I.

He weighs his food. Do you?

No, you don't. He weighs his food.

Yeah. Two little peas in a pod.

I would say Tim is Sara's usual type. Yeah, definitely.

He's confident and...

..he's not bad to look at.

Good work on your vows, by the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You reckon? It was really nice. Oh, thank you.

They were really nice.

The fact that you started with Spanish, like, that was...

Yeah, I was like, you know, I felt like it was a cool little touch.

That's very cool. So what are your thoughts right now?

I mean, your vibe. Thoughts right now?

Yeah. On me.

Oh, I'm, I'm like definitely happy. You're happy, yeah? Yeah.

That's nice. I feel like, physically, you are my type.

There's a lot that I feel like we have in common,

but I feel like there's more that we're going to get to know

that I'm excited to get to know, you know? For sure. Yeah.

Yeah. Definitely.

Sara looks really happy.

Very shocked by that because she's normally very tough and

has her guard up.

Haven't seen any red flags yet, but time will tell.

Oh, now I get to interrogate you.

Erm, your last relationship - what happened there?

She was unfaithful to me.

OK. She cheated?

Yeah.

And then, you know, like, it was, it was...

It's the worse, isn't it?

Yeah. Yeah.

So, six years. We were together for six years.

That's a long time.

I was going to propose to her this year.

What?!

Oh, my God!

When did you, erm, break up?

It ended about six months ago.

Oh...

SHE LAUGHS

That was, erm, unexpected. Erm...

Yeah, hopefully it's not too much of a curveball for you, you know?

Well, I mean, I...

I think my biggest concern with that is just that

it's like so recent.

You know? I guess it is. It still is probably pretty recent, hey?

I need your help.

To get... What? Need your help to get over your ex?

Oh, no, no. Not like that. What the hell?

Oh, like, damn, that does not sound good.

Like, that's not what I meant...at all.

That was like a slap in the face. Like...

I...would say probably not.

Definitely. Absolutely, yes.

I am over my ex. 100%.

Like, I'm in this, you know? I want to commit. I want to try.

Are you? Yeah. But that's, like, so recent.

Oh, my God.

What's happening?

It looks like a bomb has dropped.

I feel like this has triggered me.

I've been in this situation where I've been, like, hung up on an ex.

I don't know if I believe him.

I'm not here to help him get over his ex.

I don't want to babysit him. Like, don't waste my time.

She seems really annoyed at him.

I've seen her not into guys. It does not look good. Yeah.

I've got to pee.

Oh, my God. I wanna get out of here.

Hola. I will mingle. OK.

Where are they going?

I just knew it was too good to be true.

Following a joyous ceremony,

Cassandra and Tristan join their family and friends

at their reception.

Feeling all good, though?

Yeah. Feeling happy, feeling good. Feeling happy.

So, explain the fams to me.

So over here you've got, for me,

so the older looking dude, that's my dad,

that's my stepdad.

That's my mum and my brother. Who's your families?

I've got my dad, my sister, my cousin, my sister-cousin.

All right. Hold one sec, I'll go to your dad.

I'll be back. What's your dad's name?

No, I'm going to go and say hi cos it's a respect thing,

it's a nice thing to do. It's a nice thing to do. Aw, Moddy.

Family is extremely important to me, so I wanted to introduce myself.

I just want to make sure they understand that I'm not going to

break her heart, you know? Like, you, like, you know?

Moddy, I heard you were the lovely, the lovely,

the lovely dad so I thought I'd just come to say hello. Aw, bless.

I'm sorry I'm so tall, my friend. I'm sorry.

How are you doing? I'm good, good, good, good.

I'm definitely a lot more relaxed now, though.

But you look well. I love the tie. The tie is rad.

I think, I think we're going to get on fine.

Yeah, we're going to become best friends in no time.

We're going... You're going to be fine. Yeah, best friends in no time.

I like him already. Check.

He's so sweet.

I am so impressed with Tristan.

He is bold, courageous, funny,

and I adore that.

I, I really adore him.

Nice to meet you.

I think the experts did a great job.

I heard you were the lovely sister. I'm Tristan.

Like, he's just welcoming,

he gave my dad the biggest hug.

My sisters, he's laughing with them.

He's got a big personality, big laugh. I love that.

I love it so much. Beautiful.

I love a man that puts in the effort with my family.

They're everything to me.

Feel like I'm going into this experiment with a terrific person.

We are about to start speeches.

OK, we're going to start off with the lovely father.

Moddy, are you ready? Yes?

No. LAUGHTER

All right, we'll cancel, we'll cancel it.

Wow. I was... I got something written, OK?

I think, I think I do.

Ah! It says, "Hi, everyone."

Hi.

Friends at first sight.

CHEERING AND LAUGHTER

I'm the father of the beautiful bride,

meeting the groom for the first time.

And, since we're all friends now, please call me Moddy.

Moddy! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

Well, I'm both excited and, er, I was apprehensive.

I was before, not now. I've had a few drinks.

But I've met Tristan. I'm not apprehensive any more.

I know you, my daughter, Cassandra, you'll be in good hands.

Oh, thank you. Good man.

But, Tristan,

if she causes you trouble, please don't come to me.

And, Cassie, this is serious now.

If he gives you trouble...

..call her.

I won't put up with anything.

Her dad was adorable.

Moddy is the definition of what I would want

in a father-in-law, you know? And he's hilarious.

He was so funny, so welcoming.

Like, it's just, like, I don't know what else to say.

Well, let me tell you a few things about my dearest Cassie.

So, Cassandra is the name given to her by her mother.

I gave her the name Sunshine.

And, to this day, her birth certificate is Cassandra Sunshine,

because she's always been my sunshine, even in cloudy days.

Cassie...

..the more I've known you,

the more I'm glad I met your mother.

Aww...

30 years.

And I met her mother.

She was like, just like here, she was sitting over there.

And it was a party like this group, and I saw her,

I go, "Wow!"

And that was love at first sight, not marriage.

It was love at first sight.

Your mother would be very, very happy and proud of you today.

Thanks.

Actually, I know she's here.

I think I should finish by saying I truly wish you both

a life that's full of love, fun, lots of laughter,

and always remember, there's always much love here for you.

Always much love here for you, and for you, Tristan.

Thank you, Moddy. That was lovely.

Mic drop.

Cheers.

Moddy's speech was amazing. He looked like he was so proud.

Like, their family cares about her so much

that you know she's a special person.

I'm glad that I got matched with someone like her.

I'm going to be there, make sure that she feels happy.

100%.

Sara's picture-perfect wedding has come crashing down

after learning that Tim's previous relationship

ended just six months ago.

He, erm, was in a six-year relationship,

and was going to propose to her,

and they just broke up six months ago.

Like, serious?

I just feel like I know what it's like to not be over an ex.

I was like, "Shit."

What's going to happen here is, I'm going to, like,

start to like this guy

and then I'm going to get my heart broken

because he's going to be still in love with his ex.

I'm disappointed.

Like, it was going so well.

SHE LAUGHS

Yeah.

SHE LAUGHS It just feels a bit close to home.

I've had past experiences where I haven't been over my ex,

and I've told people that I've been over my ex and I haven't.

I continuously just compared all the people that I dated to my ex.

So it's like you... I don't know. You just can't...

You just can't know someone's genuine feelings.

After opening up to Sara about my past relationship,

she kind of voiced her concerns a little bit about that.

And now I feel like there's a bit of an off vibe,

so hopefully we can get it back on track.

Is everyone enjoying their night?

Now I'm going to pass it to the best man.

Lovely haircut.

Ben. Ha-ha. Thank you, Pedro.

This is the rogue best friend that says everything. Yeah.

I was not surprised when I heard

Tim was partaking in this experiment,

cos Tim is a man of science.

He's quite fond of experimentation.

Experiment 551 -

romance at high speed.

Is road head safe?

Oh!

WOMAN LAUGHS

What? I hope so.

The comments about giving head on the road is disgusting.

Experiment 759 -

love at first sight through beer goggles.

Experiment 426. This experiment took place several years ago.

799... Too naughty.

386... ..and he did, on many occasions.

Cut it. 599... 391... 782.

Oh...

Talk to Tim after the speech if you want

the results of any of these experiments.

I don't want to know.

SOMEONE COUGHS

HE LAUGHS

Experiment 381...

Tim had the idea to pack his own lunch

at a four-day music in the middle of an Australian summer.

On the very last day, we sat in awe

as he devoured rancid, four-day-old chicken.

Oh! SHE LAUGHS

This speech is an absolute train wreck.

So here we are. Experiment 865.

I mean, Sara.

Tim is a wonderful human being.

He radiates charisma like the sun.

And, Sara,

you can find solace in the fact,

rancid or not,

Tim will still eat you.

Thank you.

SMATTERING OF APPLAUSE

There was some, some moments which might not have been,

er, potentially not PG.

I hope that it doesn't come back and bite me in the arse.

I'm sure everybody here is going to remember that speech

for years on end.

Was that it?

Does anyone else want to make a speech?

That was a red flag if I've ever seen it.

What did I say?

Ben's speech was really derogatory.

I thought it was disgusting.

To say some of those things

in front of people that you've never met before,

especially the bride,

was absolutely, like, not OK.

Tim, Sara,

please step up for your first dance.

OK.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

Oh, my God. This is like going to go horribly wrong.

I can just see it. Like a car crash. Me too, me too.

I'm just like, really annoyed.

I would have gone into this, like, full-force,

but now I'm like, "Just take it back."

Moving forward, Tim needs to step up.

Yeah.

But like really, really make me feel special.

At this point in my life, I will not accept

anything less than 100%, ever.

If I was going to take minimal effort,

I would just be dating in Sydney.

After a magical wedding day,

Cassandra and Tristan are packing for their honeymoon...

Right, as you can see, you're way more tidier than I am. Er...

THEY LAUGH

What happened?

..to the McLaren Vale wine region in South Australia.

Oh, I gotta pack him. Oh, you got to pack your bear.

I gotta pack my bear. You got to pack the old Rufus.

He can come to the honeymoon. He can come to the honeymoon.

But, before they head off,

Tristan has organised a surprise for Cassandra's 30th birthday.

No! Now, just quickly, it is your 30th birthday.

Your sisters are good. Oh, my God.

We've done some diggings, all right?

Stop! They are so beautiful.

So, we got flowers and then we found out

that Tim Tams are your favourite chocolate.

But we didn't know which one, you know, so it's either blue or...

Oh, I love both of them equally. No, OK, sweet. There we go.

Oh, Tristan!

He's amazing. I've done nothing for him at all,

except be his wife,

and he's surprised me with two presents already.

That's the best morning ever. No worries, it's your birthday.

And you're my wife. You've got to freaking treat yourself, you know? It's your wife.

Very good husband material.

He's in the lead - two Tristan, zero Cass.

I've done nothing.

Let's roll.

They're so beautiful.

While Cassandra and Tristan jet off on their honeymoon...

..Sara and Tim have arrived in the tropical paradise of Fiji

after a turbulent start to their wedding.

Happy honeymoon.

I was obviously very fired up at the wedding.

The dovey swan. Cute.

Fruit and snacks. Yum!

Oh, my God, how cute.

Like, obviously, his past and his relationship, it being so recent,

erm, yeah, I think that scares me a little bit because

it's just hurt of my past, like,

something that just consistently kind of triggers something

inside of me.

We're snacky people, aren't we?

We are now. SHE LAUGHS

And we've got a fire. Oh, my God, we've got our own pool.

Oh!

Sara and Tim, Bula.

But, on this honeymoon, hopefully we can relax a little bit

and just kind of enjoy each other's company.

All right, the moment of truth. Oh, big shower.

Tim and I, we were matched so well.

Like, I'm surprised at how much we have in common,

that I need to give him a chance.

Oh, my God, that's huge. Oh, bath. Perfect.

Take a bath.

In the hopes he can recapture their initial spark,

Tim has planned a romantic dinner.

This is so nice.

Superb. Wow.

So cute.

After opening up to Sara about my past relationship,

and my best man speech on our wedding day,

I feel like there's a bit of an off vibe.

I like her.

We had such a good initial attraction and chemistry,

so I have planned a dinner for us,

and hopefully we can get back on track.

How do you feel about the experiment?

It's just like very intense.

HE CHUCKLES

It's very hard to get used to, but...

Yeah, it feels like it's been weeks.

Like, that's how it feels, you know what I mean? Like...

Oh, yeah, it's just like dragging on. Like...

No! SHE LAUGHS

I'm taking serious offence here.

No, don't, don't take offence at that. I'm taking offence.

You're saying it feels like eight weeks

and we've been here for like 30 minutes.

Tonight is going so well.

We're having normal conversation. Yeah, I'm feeling positive.

It definitely is cold. Yeah, it is. I should've brought a jacket.

Thank you.

Oh, that is so nice. You look good.

Fancy. THEY LAUGH

It's exactly what I wanted.

Like, hopefully it just continues on this path.

Oh!

It's not good Tequila.

It's Don Julio. It's not great.

You need to, erm...

What?

Nothing. You don't need to do anything.

Why are you stopping yourself from saying things?

Just say it.

Fleeting moment. Passed.

OK.

Nah, I was going to say you need to relax.

Oh, yeah, you don't want to say that.

To tell me to relax when I'm very clearly not freaking out,

you know that that would piss me off.

HE CLEARS THROAT

I was just... I was just joking around. I didn't say anything.

It's not a joke.

Tim. Oh, my God.

Just cut me some slack, you know?

I am trying.

SHE LAUGHS

Have you ever dealt with women before?

They don't like to be told to relax.

I was going to make a joke, and I was trying to hold it back.

But it feels like she's

really nit-picking at every little thing.

I, I don't know how to keep her happy.

I'm trying to connect with you.

No, but... You can't feel that?

Yeah, I definitely... I was.

I was feeling that.

Yeah. But then you just go and say that

and you knew that that would, that that would not sit well.

God, I just wish you didn't say that. I'm, like, in such a mood now.

I'm like pretty off it.

I don't like when people intentionally push my buttons.

We're having a good night.

Don't let it spoil the night, you know?

I think everyone can agree that when you tell a woman to relax,

like, most of the time - 99%...

I didn't tell you to relax. ..a woman...

I didn't tell you to relax. ..would not be relaxed after that.

I didn't tell you to relax.

Yeah, you did. No, I didn't.

No? No, I didn't. What did you say?

I bit my tongue. You said, "What did you say?"

I said, "I'm going to hold it." You said, "What did you say?

"What did you say?" And I said, "Relax."

Oh, well, obviously... And I didn't tell you to relax directly,

so don't put words in my mouth, please.

If you want to play it, if you want to play this game, you know?

What game?!

What game?

LAUGHING: You tell me.

I'm leaving.

Oh, man!

SHE SOBS AND SNIFFS

I don't need someone to fuel my fire,

I need someone to calm me down.

Next time...

Lucinda's getting married...

You'll meet my shakti chaos

and the damsel in me that wants you to rub my body cos it...

SCREAMING

..in the wildest wedding...

Everyone went nuts.

Come on.

..in MAFS history.

Oh, my goodness! Oh, God!

You all right? She's going to have her baby.

WOMAN WAILS Jesus!

Is this how you imagined your wedding ceremony going so far?

I think it's better.
