At first, we brought all five of our dogs.

We have five big Jindo dogs at home.

And right after we got here two of them started getting sick.

saying, "Did we make the right choice?" "Should we just go back?"

"I don't think I can adjust here..."

From Sang Soon and Hyo Ri's perspective

you lived in Jeju for over a decade, right?

This is a huge change.

[Couldn't accept the grasshopper at first] I didn't get it at the time.

Since I was a rookie and nobody knew me

and he was trying to make me the MC

so he needed a reason for it.

Viewers would be like, "Who's this guy?"

So

to fill that gap

he gave me a character with the grasshopper head.

[Didn't understand the good intention at the time] But I hated it.

You were pretty young then, right?

[mid-twenties at the time] I was really young.

Didn't have any of the experience I have now.

So I just said okay but inside, I was...

so upset and really hated it.

Back then, during the Fin.K.L days we were super exhausted and on edge.

It must've been frustrating.

so we were just wiped out already.

we just wanted to be on cool stages. We were kids.

Fin.K.L really did a lot of variety shows.

Back then we were rivals with S.E.S.

but they didn't really do much variety.

[They debuted earlier] They were already super popular.

we didn't make that strong of an impression.

- You had plenty of impact though. - Huh? No way.

At the beginning

we were supposed to be the "S.E.S. rival group."

People were like that.

But gradually, our popularity grew thanks to variety shows!

We really benefited a lot from that.

everyone was good at variety shows

but Hyo Ri especially...!

She even started hosting shows, like

Happy Together with Dong Yeob.

[2002, age 23] That was my first time as an MC.

When I think back on it now...

I'd work like crazy

never rest, go out, drink, party...

I'd ask myself "Why did I live like that? Was I just reckless?"

- Yeah. - But now I realize

I think it was because I was so tense all the time.

There are people who are naturally relaxed.

But I'm not like that. I was always frantic.

Deep down, I was really timid, shy

and scared of a lot of things.

[But living under constant public attention] And to be under the nation's spotlight

[Always nervous, always on edge] I was just so tense.

Always so tense, so I needed at least a beer...

- Just to relax. - To relax, right.

Just to relax a little.

Back then, that was the only way I knew how to relax.

Some people don't have that tension

like Lee Sang Soon.

He doesn't need alcohol. He can't even drink.

That's part of it, I think.

Hearing you talk about this like that...

- I get it. - I was so nervous.

When you look at it on the surface

it's easy to think "Oh, she must really like to party."

There was always this tension that wouldn't go away unless I had at least a drink.

I guess I thought like that.

But once I was in it, that was ridiculous.

Acting isn't something you just do.

It takes preparation, practice, and talent.

And people work their way up. You learn by doing supporting roles first.

Like an assistant MC!

You watch how the main MC is doing and you learn your way up.

[No chance to learn] But I had none of that.

[Thrown straight into the deep end] You were suddenly the lead.

I was suddenly the lead.

And there were such amazing actors like Kim Young Ok.

Once I got to set, I had zero confidence.

How are you supposed to act well like that?

Exactly. If you don't believe in yourself...

[Already feeling unsure of herself] I had no faith in myself.

[On top of that, low ratings] And when the drama started doing poorly

[The atmosphere on set got tense] people would be fighting on set.

You know what I mean?

The vibe was bad.

[Like sitting on pins and needles] It must be so uncomfortable.

That must've been really tough.

I drank...

Then you'd relax a bit.

When luck starts lining up for someone

I was supposed to bring a blue outfit

but my stylist accidentally brought a red one.

When things are going your way.

it was almost crazy.

But when luck doesn't show up it really doesn't show up.

If I show up in heels, it's gravel.

But seriously, when things are going well like Hyo Ri said

everything just clicks.

And honestly, that's when I start to get scared.

I don't think you get the lucky streak and that's it.

If there was a time when everything just went your way

there's bound to be a time when it doesn't.

And the more I hold on to those "lucky" years

and try harder to force that same luck now

the more things fall apart.

When your luck isn't working...

Just acknowledge it and let it be.

"Oh, this is just an unlucky phase."

You have to wait it out.

In our line of work when you're working on something

sometimes things go well

[You work hard and the results show up] but other times

[And sometimes they just don't] you work just as hard and nothing clicks.

And when it doesn't click you have to get through that well.

When things aren't going well if you get impatient like

"I have to make the next one work!"

"Why isn't it working?"

[That urgency ends up hurting people around you] You start stressing everyone out.

- "Let's go! Let's go!" - "Let's go!"

[Forcing fake energy] "Let's fight! Let's push through!"

But like we said earlier

- it just backfires! - Totally!

It gets worse!

- And the people around you... - You're rushing things!

- They leave! -The people around you all leave.

You need people around you.

Even if you're struggling, having someone there makes it possible to still build something.

If even those people leave during hard times...

[At that point, luck isn't the issue anymore] That must be so tough.

And when you're unlucky you start attracting weird people too.
