There's about 15,000 people live here

in the Appalachian mountains.

that I'm a funeral director.

Has a dead person ever sat up and tried to grab you?

- Yeah.

- And I'm glad I'm on national TV so I can make this clear.

If I go and get a dead body and for any reason, they move,

let alone grab me, that's my last day at work.

The crazy thing is that one time I actually thought

a dead person grabbed me.

We got a call that they said a dead person died.

So quite naturally, we go to pick up the body.

We get the man on the stretcher,

we get to the back of the hearse.

I open the hearse door to put the dead man in the back

of the hearse and somehow, some kind of way, I didn't see it,

but the dead man's hand fell to the side.

[laughter]

But I didn't see it because I got my back turned to him.

I didn't see it, OK.

And the hand messed around and wrapped

around the back of my leg.

[laughter]

All I could do was-- [screams]

Let me tell you something.

You don't know embarrassment until you've

had the look of family in the face and say,

I'm sorry for peeing on your daddy.

He pushed us to be on "AGT" and he loves when we sing.

to actually make this our career.

- We don't have much, but we have this.

- We're a big, big, big family.

It's five of us up here, but there's seven

siblings, our two parents.

And my sisters have some little ones out there.

- Altadena, California.

- We're just a few miles up the road

and we, like thousands of other families,

lost our home in January.

- Mm.

- Sorry to hear that.

- The fire.

- The Altadena fire took our city and all of our homes.

- Yeah.

- Altadena, California, was a beautiful town just

up the street from this building.

That day, seeing fires right outside my own home,

I just panicked and got right into survival mode.

I didn't know that a few hours later,

the whole city would be gone.

We come from a very big and beautiful

family, a lineage of people that live in Altadena.

Our legacy was the homes that we owned

and that beautiful community.

The loss of that is something that we're having

a hard time getting over.

It wasn't just our home, it was our friends,

our relatives, our neighbors.

But we have something to sing bigger now than we've ever had.

It's, I feel like, our time and our city's time.

- You know, displacement is a weird feeling.

You wake up each day and you remember

the things you have to get and do

and realize they're not there.

And life is very different now.

We don't really have a whole lot right now,

and we're working on getting it back.

But more importantly, we escaped with our lives,

and we're so grateful to be here.

- I cannot even imagine what it feels

like to go through the loss that you are going through.

And then to have the strength to show up here today.

What do you hope to get out of what you're going to do today?

- We love our city and we love the people in our city.

We loved our neighborhood.
