[Episode 36]
Give me back my child.
Wen Wen,
this child is mine too.
What did you promise me back then?
You said that no matter whose child he is,
once he's born,
he belongs to Yuanguang and me.
If I give you the child,
how will you raise him?
How will you provide for him?
Wen Wen,
this isn't a path to life;
it's a path to ruin.
If Guang knew about this in the afterlife,
how could he ever rest in peace?
How dare you bring up Yuanguang?
If it hadn't been for you,
would he have ended up like this?
You ruined him.
You destroyed our whole family.
I'll bear your hatred and resentment, whatever it may be.
But I won't give you the child.
With me,
he can go to the best schools,
get the best education,
eat well and dress well.
Can you give him that?
The mistakes were ours.
He didn't do anything wrong.
Why should we take away his chance to grow up healthy and happy?
Wen Wen,
I'm doing this for your own good too.
The past is behind us.
Why not move on and look ahead?
You're still young.
How will you ever remarry if you're raising a child on your own?
Whether I remarry or not is none of your concern.
That child is my flesh and blood.
I don't care whose blood
runs in his veins anymore.
Even if we have to beg on the streets,
at least it's earned with a clear conscience.
Unlike you,
every cent you earn
is stained with Yuanguang's blood.
If you're set on taking the child,
then sue me.
You were Guang's wife,
and I've always wanted the best for you.
But when it comes to the child,
I won't give in.
It's alright now.
Let's cut the cake for the child.
I don't know you anymore.
Today,
we're
joined by colleagues from both the Public Security Bureau
and the Cultural Relics Bureau.
A special welcome to Chief Cheng Zhi,
who just returned from Beijing
and came straight here from the airport.
Chief Cheng,
would you like to say a few words?
Chief Zhao,
I'm in no rush to speak.
Let's first hear what our colleagues
from both departments have to say.
Since no one is speaking up, I'll go first.
The Uncle's gang
has been operating in Qinzhou Province
for over a decade.
Their criminal operations
have persisted over a long period
and extended across a wide region.
The gang members come from diverse backgrounds,
ranging from ordinary citizens
to
prominent figures.
Honestly, I'm not one
to complain,
but today, I have to speak up.
We're really struggling.
We're facing three major challenges in our investigations:
First, the number of cases is overwhelming—
it's tough.
Second, there are too many cultural relics to recover—
that's tough too.
Third, there are many people to arrest—
again, not easy.
When these difficulties pile up, it gets harder to handle.
These three—
Hold on a moment.
I know what you're trying to say,
so let me put your mind at ease first, alright?
The March 17th case
has drawn significant attention from leadership
at both the provincial and municipal levels.
After much deliberation, the provincial authorities have decided
to elevate the March 17th case
to a provincially supervised case.
The special investigation team will be upgraded,
with the city bureau assigning top officers
to reinforce the investigation team.
This also places higher demands
on our investigators.
We must further refine the division of responsibilities,
assigning specific individuals to handle tasks
such as arrests, interrogations,
field investigations, and case documentation
to improve overall efficiency.
If that's the case,
I won't say anything further.
While we're not afraid of challenges,
we certainly welcome
any support
the leadership can offer.
Enough.
I know what you're getting at.
You're asking for
logistical support, right?
Rest assured,
the higher-ups have specifically reviewed the matter
and issued clear instructions:
Funding for the investigation will be fully guaranteed.
Necessary vehicles will be provided.
No matter which jurisdiction the investigation leads to,
local police departments
are required to offer full and unwavering support.
Thank you, sir.
There's a buzzword making the rounds these days—"so dope."
Since our colleagues at the Public Security Bureau
have taken such a strong lead,
we at the Cultural Relics Bureau can't drop the ball either.
During my recent trip to Beijing,
I met with leaders and experts from the National Cultural Heritage Administration
and reported the details of the March 17th case
to them.
The leaders specifically asked me
to convey their appreciation for all your hard work.
They also hope you'll conduct a thorough investigation into the criminal gang
and ensure it is completely dismantled.
Efforts to recover the involved cultural relics must be intensified,
and we must prevent any further loss of cultural heritage.
Of course,
our cultural relics department
will provide full cooperation
and coordinate closely throughout the process.
Comrades,
since the 18th National Congress,
the Central Committee has made
the protection of cultural relics a top priority like never before.
issuing a series of significant directives.
The Ministry of Public Security and the National Cultural Heritage Administration
have jointly established
a dedicated coordination group to combat crimes related to cultural relics.
This group is tasked with deploying efforts to crack down on such crimes,
overseeing major cases,
coordinating cross-regional investigations,
and supporting local authorities in safeguarding cultural heritage.
At the same time,
we're gradually improving the system and mechanism
for recovering cultural relics lost overseas,
ensuring their prompt return home.
On this basis,
commissioned by Ministry of Public Security
and National Cultural Heritage Administration,
the Qinzhou Provincial Public Security Department
has set up a national center to combat cultural relic crimes.
The center has successfully completed its trial operation
and will officially launch soon.
It will be responsible for
the collection, review, analysis, and evaluation
of nationwide data related to cultural relics crimes,
providing comprehensive information support
to aid your efforts in solving cases.
Comrades,
our work in protecting cultural relics
has entered a new era.
From the Central Committee to the general public,
everyone is paying close attention.
With that comes even greater responsibility
on our shoulders.
However,
our confidence
has also grown stronger.
Folks,
let's just roll up our sleeves and get to work!
[Qinchuan Relics Inspection Team] [Qinchuan Cultural Heritage Bureau]
Welcome!
Hurry up!
Thank you for coming.
Welcome.
-Welcome. -Okay.
Any updates on Liu Shusheng's construction company?
His accountant fled south
but has been apprehended by our counterparts there.
Keep digging into the bank records.
Wu and Scar have been located.
Police!
Let's go.
Take him away.
Now, let me brief everyone on the latest developments.
We've uncovered a new lead.
Recently,
Chief Wu
traveled to Xiao Guoqiang's hometown, Huang Plain,
and found out that, twenty years ago, he worked as a driver for someone.
That person
was none other than
Zhao Youlin.
We looked into his background before.
Didn't seem like he had any ties to Huang Plain, right?
He did.
There was a connection.
Back then, Zhao Youlin had taken on a construction project in Huang Plain.
During our investigation, we heard some rumors
that
he uncovered an antique at the site.
Then he sold it off
and suddenly got rich overnight.
The story hasn't been confirmed,
but the fact
that Zhao Youlin deliberately hid this part of his past
makes him very suspicious.
So,
we'll keep tracking Xiao Guoqiang.
As for Zhao Youlin,
look into him thoroughly.
Be careful. Watch your step.
This way.
Mind your head.
Director.
Director Zhang.
-Mrs. Zan. -Thank you.
This is the section of
the rammed earth wall we've uncovered.
Shilin, take this.
Look here.
Yes.
That's right.
Come on.
Director Zhang.
Mrs. Zan.
It is indeed a rammed earth wall.
Incredible.
Just incredible.
I heard
it's been quite the challenge
for your team to find this rammed earth wall.
Don't even mention it.
Most archaeologists
look for signs of disturbed soil in raw earth,
but we're out here
trying to find disturbed soil inside disturbed soil,
and rammed earth hidden in more rammed earth.
The terrain here
was originally uneven.
So, in the past, when building the mausoleum complex,
they first filled low areas, then built rammed earth walls on top.
As a result, we're now
searching for rammed earth within rammed earth.
We've documented
the number of boreholes in our archaeological log,
but honestly,
if you asked us now,
we couldn't even tell.
There are just too many.
Sometimes,
we'd find two or three meters of this rammed earth wall,
and then it would suddenly cut off.
It's fragmented,
with many twists and turns.
We've found traces of this kind of wall surrounding the Yin Village grand tomb
in all four directions: east, south, west, and north.
Based on our preliminary estimates,
the remaining foundation
stretches about
1,200 meters from east to west,
and 860 meters from north to south,
forming a perfect enclosure around both the Yin Village grand tomb
and the Dou Mausoleum.
Do you all remember
the paved stone remains we discovered earlier?
During this excavation,
we've uncovered several more sections.
At present, we estimate the structure to be about 423 meters in length
and 1.5 meters in width.
We believe
this may mark
the boundary of the mausoleum complex of the Yin Village grand tomb,
so we've tentatively named it the "stone enclosure."
If that's the case,
then the Yin Village grand tomb
appears to have had a stone-built mausoleum boundary.
Yes.
The Dou Mausoleum
also has its own rammed earth enclosure wall.
So both of them are located within a single large mausoleum complex,
right?
Yes.
This setup
clearly follows the burial tradition
where the emperor and empress share a mausoleum but rest in separate tombs.
Exactly.
The configuration of the Yin Village grand tomb
and the Dou Mausoleum
is very similar to the Yang Mausoleum of Han.
Therefore, we can basically confirm that
we have found key evidence identifying
the Yin Village grand tomb
as the Zi Mausoleum of Emperor Taizong of Han.
That's great.
Though we don't have
a complete set of evidence
or a full report,
this one piece alone
is enough.
The landfill site
has been putting up fierce resistance.
They've pushed us too far.
We'll use this piece of evidence you've found
to negotiate with them.
I believe
we will win.
Alright, let's not waste any more time here.
Ms. Xiang, Zhang,
come with me to the city government.
Let's go.
Let's go.
-Let's go together. -Let's go together.
Let's go.
[Qinchuan Western Han Mausoleum Administration]
Comrades,
I'm pleased to announce
that the Qinchuan Western Han Mausoleum Administration
is now officially in operation.
Awesome!
We've all been in the cultural heritage field for years,
weathering
the ups and downs together.
Now, with upgraded facilities
and formal recognition,
no more struggling with limited resources.
Public attention and support are growing,
and our work in cultural preservation
has officially entered a brand-new era.
Everyone must forge ahead
and not fail our mission.
Bravo!
Captain Qi, Chief Wu,
the National Cultural Relics Crime Information Center has reported
two individuals with prior criminal records
who are closely associated with Liu Qiang.

and the other is Hu Qingye.

are key members of Uncle's gang.

[Major Archaeological Breakthrough in Qinzhou]
Distinguished guests,
members of the press,
[Yin Village Grand Tomb Confirmed as Zi Mausoleum]
welcome to
the press conference on the major archaeological discoveries in Qinzhou.
[Press Conference on Major Archaeological Breakthrough in Qinzhou]
I am Yan Mengren, Deputy Chief
of the Qinzhou Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau.
Here,
on behalf of the Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau,
I'm honored to announce to everyone here
that the Yin Village grand tomb
in Qinchuan
has officially been confirmed
as the Zi Mausoleum of Emperor Taizong of Han.
[By the Zishui River, winter has passed;]
[On the Bailu Plain, the snow has just cleared.]
[There will be no more mistakes.]
The archaeological work on the Zi Mausoleum
began in the 1960s.
Back then,
a small burial pit
from Empress Dowager Bo's South Mausoleum, located to the east of Yin Village,
was excavated in a rescue operation.
In the 1980s, two veteran archaeologists
conducted systematic surveys
and measurements
of the 11 Western Han Mausoleums,
laying a solid foundation for the future archaeological research
of the Western Han Imperial Mausoleums.
After 2003,
researchers from
the Qinchuan Archaeological Research Institute
discovered the grand tomb in Yin Village,
along with surrounding outer burial pits,
stone enclosures, and other features during their exploration.
These findings
brought the relationship between the Dou Mausoleum, Phoenix Mountain,
and the Yin Village grand tomb
into the academic spotlight,
sparking discussions
about the exact location
of Emperor Taizong of Han's Zi Mausoleum.
May I ask,
will the main tomb of Zi Mausoleum continue to be excavated?
Under our country's cultural heritage policy,
the excavation of ancient imperial tombs
is generally not permitted.
Archaeology
is not treasure hunting.
We can't simply excavate every tomb we discover.
What we choose to excavate now
is based on current research needs.
This is a legacy we should leave to future generations.
When the technology is ready,
and when their research demands it,
then the time will be right for excavation.
Okay, thank you.
If I may add to what the director just said,
our top priority right now
is to protect these mausoleums and cultural relics.
Our archaeological team hopes that in the future,
we'll be able to build a site museum
on the Bailu Plain
-to showcase... -Director Yan.
And preserve the discoveries from the Zi Mausoleum...
Director Yan.
And Empress Dowager Bo's South Mausoleum.
It will also help more people
gain a deeper understanding of our Chinese culture.
Okay, thank you.
Then may I ask, have the stolen artifacts from the Zi Mausoleum been recovered?
Wait a moment.
I'll take this question.
The stolen artifacts from the Zi Mausoleum have been recovered one after another.
Bravo!
Bravo!
Mr. Fang,
are you familiar with this place?
The black pottery figurines were unearthed here.
Let me correct you.
The black pottery figurines were stolen from here.
You're right.
No one knows better than I do
how they were dug up
and sold overseas.
If it weren't for me,
how would foreigners
come to understand the rich history of Chinese culture?
Taking our ancestors' treasures
and selling them overseas,
then letting foreigners show them off,
yet acting like that's something to be proud of?
Don't be so harsh.
Without me, what would you be studying?
Even the probing shovel you use
was invented by tomb raiders.
That's right.
It was invented by tomb raiders.
But it's just a tool.
A knife is a harmless kitchen utensil when used for cooking,
but it becomes a weapon when used to harm.
We use probing shovels to uncover and verify history,
while you use them
to turn our intact Chinese culture
into something broken and unrecognizable.
If I hadn't brought the black pottery figurines to light,
you would never have known
where Zi Mausoleum was.
I am the herald.
I am the pioneer.
I am the first to discover Zi Mausoleum.
What are you laughing at?
I'm laughing at your ignorance and shamelessness.
Years ago, we already began
excavating the Western Han Imperial Mausoleums.
Even if the grand tomb in Yin Village hadn't been found,
our plan was to
explore Phoenix Mountain anyway,
and we would have still confirmed there were no remains beneath it.
Yin Village
and the Zi Mausoleum
would have come to light regardless.
Relying on you guys?
By the time you're done, it'll be too late.
You've poured countless man-hours and resources in,
yet still haven't completed a single tomb after all these years.
With just one shovel,
I cracked the whole thing.
Because you're in it for the money.
We're not.
For generations, archaeologists have worked tirelessly,
pursuing knowledge with care
and exploring with painstaking dedication.
Why?
Because what we're uncovering
is the very backbone of Chinese history,
the profound depth of Chinese civilization.
We can't afford to be careless, not even a little.
You've destroyed countless cultural relics,
yet you still call yourself a herald
and a pioneer.
You're not ashamed but proud of it.
It's utterly ridiculous.
Mu Jianhui,
you're under arrest.
Shulan,
I've implicated you.
I'll wait for you to come back, Jianhui.
