Gaia, the spirit of Earth, can no longer stand

the terrible destruction plaguing our planet.

She sends five magic rings to five special young people.

Kwame, from Africa with the power of Earth!

From North America, Wheeler with the power of Fire!

From Eastern Europe, Linka, with the power of Wind!

From Asia, Gi, with the power of Water!

[splashing]

And from South America, Ma-Ti with the power of Heart!

When the five powers combine

they summon Earth's greatest champion

Captain Planet.

The power is yours!

[instrumental music]

[wind howling]

[horses whinnying and galloping]

Thank you for my vision, ancient spirits.

[instrumental music]

(Wheeler) ‘Help! Somebody help!’

[Chuckles] Itis justa little spider, Wheeler.

[laughing]

Spiders are very helpful insects.

as long as they keep away from me.

That is too bad because | was hoping to see

big tarantulas when we pick up Ma-Ti.

Plants, animals, and people need water to survive.

Many towns and cities get their water from rivers,

lakes, or underground springs in the wilderness.

So it is important to conserve water at home

by doing things like taking shorter showers..

Or turning off the water when we

brush our teeth or do the dishes.

That way, there will be more water
