A portal... The door to the heavens!

The door to the heavens has opened, Your Majesty!

Once you pass through here, you will be able to see Divine Healer Hwata, Your Majesty.

Please give the order to bring him here. Either Hwata himself or his disciples will do.

Please give the order to invite the Divine Healer here, Your Majesty.

Hurry. Before the door to the heavens seals itself, Your Majesty!

If you are so knowledgeable, then you should be the one to go.

How dare you!

Her Highness, the queen, can be saved.

The divine healer of the heavens is just through there, Your Majesty!

Although I am not quite convinced...

Please give the order.

We must try no matter what, must we not?

I will return.

Captain.

This is an imperial edict.

Captain!

Dae Man.

I must go too!

We cannot allow the captain to go on his own!

Did you not hear the captain's words?

He said not to follow!

Our duty is to protect His Majesty.

Your Majesty, it would not be advisable to remain here for long.

I will escort you back to the inn.

I shall wait here.

Your Majesty, there may be unseen dangers here.

We should--

Were we not planning on praying three days and nights here anyway?

We must do that at the very least.

I shall wait.

Deol Bae. Deok Man.

Why is it like that?

Back away.

Further away.

Captain!

Wudalchi.

I have escorted her here.

She is a healer of the heavens.

Let go!

Is Her Highness still all right?

Episode 2

Please enter.

Is this the healer from the heavens?

She brought someone with the same injury back to life. I've already verified it.

These are the instruments she used.

What are you doing?

Aren't you going to look her over?

It has already been two hours since the sword injury to her neck.

We have regulated her heart rate to minimize blood loss,

but still she has lost much blood.

The best method would be to close the wound and blood vessel,

but I worry that that it would disturb the qi, so I dare not close the wound.

Can you do it?

What and what?

The vein has been severed between the two acupoints Cheongyi and Yepung.

The needle should be inserted at the shao fu point, then

Ah! I get it! I get it!

With those clothes and attire, you're filming some sort of movie, right?

Then in the process of filming, an actress was injured.

You're worried that the police will find out,

so you've secretly brought a doctor here to look her over.

Is that right? I'm right, aren't I?

What are you saying?

Just call 911.

If I treat this patient and a mishap occurs,

my license will be revoked.

If a doctor's license is revoked, her medical career is over!

So consider this as saving both my life and the patient's.

Just call 911, all right?

Shall I do it instead?

Okay.

Are you really a healer?

How can a healer not even look at a patient who is right before her eyes?

I will put out a good word to the police and the hospital.

Seriously. I swear.

Anyway, I'll just...

How many times do I have to tell you before you understand?

First save that person.

Afterwards, I will see you back safely.

How long has she been unconscious?

From the beginning.

Then I won't need to use anesthesia.

Hooks.

Hooks!

Here. Use the hooks to hold the wound open.

Come over and help.

Clamp.

Tie.

Cut.

Tie.

Cut.

Tie.

Cut.

Tie.

Cut.

I can see! Deol Bae!

I can see! I can see!

Don't touch things that belong to the heavens.

It's fascinating...

Her heart must reach a rate of 100 beats per minute.

Will she live?

In order to save her she must be allowed plenty of bed rest.

What I'm saying is that she must remain on the bed and rest.

She nearly lost her life from hypovolemic shock, so take good care of her.

Keep an eye on her vitals,

and because the conditions are so bad here, she may get an infection.

Be sure to watch out for signs of fever or chills.

And always make sure you sterilize.

Please let me live!

Haven't I already operated on her?

She has not yet woken.

It takes time!

That's right.

- So while we're waiting you cannot leave. - What more do you want from me?

I've done everything I can!

Are you her guardian?

As long as that patient receives proper rest, she will be fine.

Also, what is most important now is hydration.

When she regains consciousness, you must have her drink water.

But not too much either.

Otherwise, she may contract aspiration pneumonia.

Will she regain consciousness?

I cannot guarantee that.

That patient is not my responsibility.

Please allow me to return.

This surgery... I...

I was forced into it.

This has nothing to do with my medical license. You must

Healer from the heavens...

Me?

The country's fate rests upon her survival.

Country?

Seeing as how the heavens have sent you here... Can I take that as a sign that...

My country's end is not near? That my country is in the protection of the heavens still?

That person is even stranger.

Can I believe that?

Wake up. Please let me wake up from the nightmare!

Inform the captain.

The portal to the heavens is diminishing.

At this rate, it will close completely within a day.

That's impossible.

We saw it with our own eyes.

Wudalchi went through Heaven's door and brought back a healer from the heavens.

From that person's head, shines the light of the heavens.

The light that saved Her Highness the Queen.

She was sent to us by the heavens.

How can we allow her to return?

I said I promised the healer.

I promised that I will return her to the heavens as long as she saves Her Highness.

Your Majesty.

Goryeo is currently in the hands of those conspiring against us.

As soon as the opportunity presents itself, they will offer Goryeo to Yuan.

Before we return to Goryeo, they will surely collude surreptitiously.

We cannot afford to not be on our guard.

But if this heaven-sent person were to return to the kingdom with you,

then those people will dare not look down on Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, you would be the king backed by the heavens.

Wudalchi.

This is what the heavens have granted Your Majesty.

A way for our country to survive.

Your Majesty. Your Maj

I made that promise as a warrior of Goryeo.

Your Majesty has grown up in Yuan so you may be unaware of this.

A Goryeo warrior's promise

is made upon his life.

You also heard what was just said.

As long as that heavenly person returns to my kingdom with me,

she will serve as a guarantee.

To go that far for a guarantee is rather...

Rather...?

Rather dishonorable.

How dare you!

Is the sake of this country,

not more important than a single person's promise?

Is it not?

Your Majesty!

As a loyal subject of this nation,

he urges you to dishonor a promise for the sake of this country.

As a warrior of this nation,

I have killed for this country.

Then at the very least, as a king,

should you not be somewhat different from us?

That is what I believe.

Is that not right?

[Gaegyeong Capital of Goryeo]

Fed with ginseng and mountain spring water

as well as clean cicadas,

these are painstakingly bred cockroach nymphs.

[Cockroaches]

If bred for too short a period, they are impotent,

but bred too long their potency is also reduced.

From the new moon to the next full moon,

they are bred for exactly one and a half months.

Including cuscuta seed, Chinese angelica, almond, rosin, liquorice,

peach kernel, phellodendron bark, mung beans, chestnut pellicle, bletilla tuber, pharbitis seeds, etc.,

a total of 22 medicinal herbs are added.

If these are decocted into a tonic, drinking it will bolster internal health and restore youth to organs.

If it is applied topically, the skin recovers a youthful glow.

It is called cockroach nymph smoothing tonic.

Cockroach nymphs...

[Lord Deokseong, Gi Cheol] Cockroach nymphs...

[brother of Empress Gi of Yuan] are smoothing...

Sir, it is I, Won.

What have you heard?

The South have begun to take action. What should we do?

- How many men can you expect to assemble? - At least twenty men if not more.

Who is the most indispensable?

Among them, the National Scholar Dae Han

is said to be the kind of philosopher that appears only once every century.

I know him. I hear his husband-wife relationship is very good.

It's said that his wife is pregnant for the first time in five years of marriage.

What a shame.

Who else?

The Imperial Inspector Kang Eui has an aging mother over seventy.

He is an extremely filial son.

Not enough.

Kang Jeong Soon lost two brothers in the Waegu War.

So he is the last of the bloodline...

No matter how I think about it,

they are all neither indispensable nor regrettable.

Won.

Yes.

Should not every beginning... have an end?

I will see to it immediately.

Cockroach nymphs are smoothing.

Lord Cho Hyun.

I have received a secret letter.

The contents of those letters are all the same.

Have you all received them too?

That is correct. The assault on His Majesty

and Her Highness the Queen, the Princess of Yuan...

- Who has lost her life! - ... are what the letters speak of.

Then what are we to do now?

Is that not obvious?

The Princess of Yuan has been murdered,

so they will surely seek to place the blame on Goryeo.

Then those in line with Lord Deokseong will wantonly raise an uproar.

In order to survive, there will be no other choice.

We will have to become a vassal state of the Yuan Nation.

Then our country... will be lost?

Of course it will be lost!

We will become just another Yuan city.

One over which Lord Deokseong will hold reign.

Then what will become of us?

Speaking of which, who is the sender of these secret letters?

We shall know if we attend.

When we arrive there, will we not know who it was who gathered us?

Who knows what unforeseen misfortunes may occur if we go?

It is too dangerous! Dangerous!

You are such a coward.

No matter how powerful they are, they number fewer than us.

We are much greater in numbers than they are.

That is true.

What is dangerous? What is there to fear?

Let us go. We shall go and see.

Excuse me.

Can you help me to leave here?

I only have this much on me at the moment,

perhaps there is an ATM nearby?

Come with me.

I have a loan to pay off and the interest is rather high, so I don't have much savings.

I can get a cash advance on my credit card for you though.

How much will be enough?

50,000 won?

1,000,000 won?

Any more than that will be difficult.

2,000,000 won!

She has been quietly waiting inside.

Guard her well.

Until when do I need to guard her?

An imperial order will soon be given. Persevere until then.

Am I guarding against those going in or those coming out?

The one who is trying to escape from within.

Do not be careless.

Excuse me, may I ask you something?

Excuse me. It seems I passed out on the way here

so I can't remember the way. Where do I go to catch a taxi?

Are you from our country?

Even the actors are imported these days.

Can you speak English?

Hello.

Hello. (Mandarin)

Thank you. (Mandarin)

What are you doing?

Come take a look! (Mandarin)

Excuse me. Where can I find a public telephone?

This... Telephone.

Telephone. (Mandarin)

Telephone. (Mandarin)

What kind of film site doesn't have a signal?

What is he saying?

Someone has run away?

Captain!

Captain!

What is it?

Are you going alone?

Please bring some others with you.

We have stayed far too long.

Our enemies are bound to come.

Captain!

You should be aware that they already know of our tactics.

They will not attack us in the same manner as before.

If I were them, I would reduce the opposition's numbers one by one.

After drawing their attention to one side, launch an assault at their rear.

We will put the threefold garrison into effect.

Yes, Captain.

His Majesty will be at the center of defense.

No. Her Highness must be at the core of your defense.

Then what of His Majesty?

Do as the need arises. Generally.

Arrange it well...

Captain!

Stay alert!

S... She's inside.

I didn't know what I should do. Since she is a healer from the heavens, I didn't know if I could seize her.

If I was to seize her I would have had to drag her away, but I wasn't sure if I am allowed to.

How can this film set be so large?

Where is there a place like this?!

Where is this place too?

Is it still the film set?

Excuse me!

Is anyone there?

Excuse me!

Is anyone there?

Is there anyone here?

I'm sorry to bother you. This place...

Excuse me. How can I get to Gangnam?

Ahjussi, it's ours!

Captain!

Over here.

I'll take another look around here.

Otherwise, we can go to the next village.

Traces of a scuffle mark the ground, and the fact that she has lost a shoe

proves that something must have happened here. So...

These are different people from before.

What?

The people we faced before and the ones here now...

The bloodstain left here probably belongs to her.

The blood has not congealed, so it must not have happened too long ago.

Then we must hurry.

We must regard them as being from the same group.

The ones who attacked us before and the bastards here now...

They held the boats at the dock and tied us down, then they attacked the inn.

Anyone can do that much.

But...

How do they know of the divine healer's existence?

Can there be... an internal spy?

There is.

Aish! I will return first!

- I'll have that bastard seized - Do you know who it is you need to seize?

Who is in control of the boats at the dock?

The boatman was a Goryeo man, so...

Let's go.

The boatman. This is him.

With whose money did you buy this wine pot?

I said there are no boats.

I asked you who gave you the money to buy this.

I said there are no boats!

I said there are no boats! No boats!

Who gave you money to not operate the boats?

I said there are no boats right now!

Who are you?! What are you doing?!

He says he will talk.

What do you know?

What did he say?

He says it has nothing to do with him. That he knows nothing.

That is not what I want to hear.

Poison?

He says the plan is to attack with poison. The target is the inn.

He says he will tell us where it is.

Get up. Go!

It's hwagolsan. (a poison that dissolves one's bones)

He says it should already have begun!

His Majesty is probably in danger!

Captain!

Let's go.

First Division.

Yes!

Team One.

Yes!

Team Two.

Yes!

Team Three.

Yes!

Team Four.

Team Four!

Your Majesty, please come this way.

Protect His Majesty!

Cover your noses!

Go tell His Majesty!

Yes!

Your subject is coming up!

Your Majesty, we are being attacked with poison.

The front door is blocked!

Secure the back door! The back door is also blocked!

Close formation!

Do not spread apart!

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty!

Your Majesty!

I cannot find her!

She was right beside me but I cannot find her now!

I have also been looking for her, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, it's this way!

Stay here.

Protect Her Highness.

Have you regained your senses?

Her Highness has awoken.

I can see that.

How are you feeling?

Why is it so noisy here?

Your Majesty.

The healer from the heavens has saved Her Highness.

When I find her,

may I honor my promise to her?

[Gaegyeong Capital of Goryeo] .

[Gaegyeong Capital of Goryeo] If the contents of these secret letters

speak true,

then time is of the essence.

The princess of Yuan, who arrived with His Majesty...

The Queen of Goryeo has been assassinated.

This is...

Whoever committed such a heinous crime?

Will you please calm down?

Do you really need to ask?

The aims of those who assassinated our queen

are to make it so that upon His Majesty's arrival,

he will be met with the Yuan nation's persecution!

That bastard Gi Cheol is in collusion with the Mongolian tartars.

What else would those bastards discuss when they gather?

Clearly, they will use this incident as a pretext to wage their colonization machinations

on our land once again.

Surely they intend to make Goryeo into just another Yuan province.

We must have Gi Cheol executed immediately!

The land our ancestors have safeguarded for thousands of years

will not be relinquished without a fight.

As I live and breathe, how can I allow such a thing to happen?

This is seriously...

All right, all right. No need to wait any longer.

We shall make the decision here and now.

Before His Majesty's return, we shall have Gi Cheol and his people eradicated!

That is the only way our country can survive.

But can we... actually accomplish that?

We must proceed with caution.

What more is there to be cautious about?

For those who were born and raised here, what more is there to consider?

Anyway...

Where has Lord Cho Hyun gone?

There's no one here.

That rascal from before has also disappeared.

Even if they did capture her here, they would surely have taken her elsewhere.

How about we send ten of our warriors out looking?

Have them search the surrounding mountains, villages, as well as...

I'm going to take another look around. You go inform the deputy captain--

Please feed me!

Please feed me!

Please feed me!

Dae Man.

He says... to stand aside.

Otherwise... he will kill her.

Let them both go... or she dies with him.

You really are troublesome.

Did I not tell you to wait?

Where did you think this is, running out like that? Look at you now.

Are you all right?

Just try and come near me!

I'll show you what I'm made of!

Her Highness, the queen, has awoken.

So I'll be seeing you back.

Seeing you back...

To the world you came from...

Don't throw me over that filthy shoulder of yours.

Treating me like luggage... You're insufferable!

Serial killer psychopath!

Dae Man.

Yes?

Let them know that I am escorting the heavenly person back.

If you fall you will be injured.

I recognize this place. Isn't this the place from before?

I know where this place is.

From here to Gangnam... No.

I don't know how to get to Gangnam from here.

Wait for me!

Can you see?

The portal is diminishing in size.

If it closes, you will have no way to return.

So please go.

I just walk right through it?

Then some sort of door will open?

What will happen then?

Just enter it.

What do you mean I just have to enter it?

Shouldn't you do some sort of test first?

What if there are any side effects?

Thank you for your hard work.

Stop right there!

Heaven's Healer, you cannot return.

I, as Goryeo Warrior Choi Young, am sending her back in my name.

The person who is disregarding my name!

Who is it?

Just try and stop me.

These are His Majesty's orders.

To stop the healer of the heavens...

Utter nonsense.

I do not believe you.

What... What are you waiting for?

Seize that woman!

This is an imperial order!

Wudalchi Choi Young,

I said this is an imperial order.

Do you intend to defy your orders?

Let go! Let go!

I said let go! Let go!

Let go! Let go!

His Subject Choi Young,

has abided by the imperial order, and recaptured the heavenly healer.

You jerk!

Didn't you promise me?

Didn't you promise to send me back?

Psycho! Murderer!

I'm going to kill you!

Why?

You could have avoided it easily... Why?

Will this...

suffice?

It's said that a Goryeo warrior guarantees a promise with his life.

To make a promise upon his name as a Goryeo warrior,

then receive an imperial order that compromises it...

The choice would be to refuse the order... or die.

Did you mean to force him to choose between the two?

No.

Either way, he is meant to die.

No matter what, that Choi Young would have to die.

Are you... criticizing me?

How could I dare?

I am merely organizing my thoughts.

Did Your Majesty really intend to kill him?

I am truly curious.

Hey!

That rascal... Restrain him!

Have you lost it?

How dare you raise your hand to the heavenly healer?

His Majesty is awaiting you. I will escort you.

Move aside.

Healer, His Majesty

I said move aside!

Can you hear me?

Are you still conscious?

Be careful. Be careful of the sword.

The sword is preventing significant blood loss.

There is no time to treat him.

Our enemies may attack us at any time.

Their target is not only His Majesty. They are surely targeting you, the heavenly healer as well.

We don't have blood for infusion. We can't do a transfusion.

Our only option is surgery.

- Do you have anything like tape? - Tape... What?

We cannot move him until the sword is secured in place.

Something like a strong cloth.

I said there is no time for this!

Please. We must leave now.

Leave? What do you mean leave? What will happen to him if we leave?!

Leave him behind.

Wudalchi.

If you are conscious, answer me.

If we are delayed here for your sake, His Majesty will be endangered.

So we must leave you behind. Don't you agree?

Captain!

Captain!

Go...

- Then I will leave some people-- - Stop making me repeat myself...

It hurts...

Stop fussing and go...

I won't leave!

- I know you do not understand the situation-- - I understand... the situation.

I stabbed him.

If he dies, I will become a murderer.

I won't leave.

Very well.

We shall do this instead then.

I am now the one who killed Captain Wudalchi.

You needn't worry yourself anymore.

My tools! Prepare for surgery!

Dae Man!

I'll go prepare them!

Here. Here, press here.

Everyone will heed my order.

Escort the healer from the heavens

The healer from the heavens has given me an order!

To apply pressure here!

How dare you...

Move aside.

Stop!

I must enter!

Stop right there!

I must retrieve the heavenly tools.

But!

I am here for the tools.

The heavenly healer has asked me to retrieve her tools.

Why must you retrieve the tools?

I must retrieve them.

- Who is injured? - The captain...

has been impaled with a sword.

The captain has been impaled with a sword?

Then...

He disobeyed my command?

Is that why he was stabbed?

How could we slay our captain?

Even if we all went against him as one we could not have injured the captain.

I'm begging you!

The captain will die soon...

I must take these away.

I am asking you!

Wudalchi Choi Young...

Did he go against my orders?

He did not disobey your orders.

That is why he is dying.

- So I'm begging you... - Go.

I have consented.

Royal Physician Jang.

Yes.

You go as well.

Captain Wudalchi is my savior.

As your queen, I am commanding you...

to go save him.

Is it all right for me to give such orders?

Your Majesty?

You are all right.

You can't lose consciousness.

Can you hear me?

With you touching my body all over,

how can I lose consciousness?

If your heart rate increases any faster,

you could go into hypovolemic shock.

I can't do a blood transfusion here, so no matter what...

You did not do this.

What?

Never in a million years could you stab me.

Listen to me carefully.

If you truly wish to save me.

Then leave me and go.

I will find a way to survive on my own.

Please leave me.

Shut up!

What?

Shut your mouth.

Listen to me.

The order goes like this.

First I save you,

then afterwards, whether you die or not, you go do whatever you want somewhere else on your own.

Just you try and die without my permission...

Light anything that can be lit.

It must be brighter than daytime in here.

Also, send someone to boil water.

I also need clean cloths. As many as possible...

Where's the antibiotic?

Did you see a bottle like this? The antibiotic...

Without it, doing a laparotomy in this filth will have him dead from blood poisoning!

You all stay away! Don't come near!

You're all covered in bacteria.

I will need antibiotics and anesthesia. Do you have any similar medications?

Cephalexin or vancomycin, anything will do.

Please remain here.

If you are to separate from Her Highness, it will be difficult for us to see to your protection.

I will only say this once.

Listen carefully.

I'm listening.

No matter what you wish to do,

you must first acquire my permission.

Only after receiving my order,

will you speak a word or take a step in accordance.

Do you understand?

I know that as the precious Princess of Yuan,

to have to condescend to marry me must be resentful to you.

Now you even have to leave your home country for a foreign nation.

You may even wish to resist.

However, I am the king of a nation.

You are now one of my subjects.

So I would hope that your words and deeds will befit your status.

Why have you not answered?

Because I have not yet received the order to answer.

So I cannot answer you...

I said I need an anesthetic.

This is it.

This is one I concocted myself.

Then why is he still conscious?

How can a living person lose consciousness so quickly?

Please give it time.

The surgery must be done now.

I believe the captain can withstand the pain.

This is not a matter of withstanding the pain.

I must first cut open his abdomen to examine the extent of the damage to his organs.

Only then can I proceed accordingly.

If the patient is straining to withstand the pain, his organs will stiffen.

Then I won't have a clear view and I won't be able to suture properly

He has lost it.

Lost what?

Lost consciousness...

He is completely unconscious.

Please prepare the boiled water.

We must irrigate the wound as it bleeds.

And since we have no suction, we must use the white cloths to soak up the blood continuously.

What are you doing?

I said I need to open his abdomen. His abdomen!

I must cut open his stomach.

Are you not treating a sword injury to the stomach?

Why are you cutting into his stomach?

I must cut the abdomen open from the solar plexus to the navel.

That way I'll be able to see if he is injured elsewhere.

It appears that only his liver is injured,

but I must open him up to confirm.

Look here, Korean doctor.

If we do not interfere, the patient will die from blood loss.

So please let go.

He is the person you wanted to kill,

yet you are saying you'll save him now.

Can I trust you?

You can.

Why?

Don't you all say that I am a healer from the heavens?

So please believe me.

If we do not escape now, our only option is death.

Why must we die? Who is trying to kill us?

I would never do such a cowardly thing, Your Majesty!

What have I done wrong?

I'm sorry. Please continue to receive treatment!

In order for me to keep the promise to see you back,

you must be alive.

I will see you back safely,

as long as you do not leave my side.
