I forgot to tell Dad about the missing chickens.

Chickens went missing for three days,

and they randomly showed back up.

Remember, one of them came back

and she was missing a toe?

And the others had lost almost all of their feathers,

so something tried to get at them.

What if it came back?

- Well, whatever it was, it wasn't much of a predator,

they managed to escape.

- It reminds me of when we were little,

we used to run around like that,

and Mom would have to chase us around like farm animals.

- We all miss her.

- What was that?

Do you ever feel like someone's watching us?

- Don't start with that.

You're just being paranoid 'cause Dad's gone.

- Maybe you're right.

Let's get the animals some water and go make dinner.

maybe what you thought you heard

was the boogeyman.

- Reports are flooding in from local residents

about strange and unexplained occurrences in the area.

Some have reported hearing strange noises late at night,

while others believe a large and possibly a dangerous animal

may be lurking in the woods.

These reports are currently under investigation,

and I should be reporting back to you

as this information comes in.

- All right, I'll go put them in the barn real quick.

- I saw the bear, and it was huge.

- You feeling all right?

- I'm fine.

I'm just,

thinking about Dad, and

a little worried about that bear, I guess.

- Dad will be back soon,

and I'm the one that saw the bear.

You don't see me worried about it.

It probably won't even come back.

- We don't know for sure if it's gonna come back or not.

And if it does,

do you think Dad's gonna be here to help us with it?

- If it comes back, we'll scare it off again.

Now, hand me the cheese.

(suspenseful music)

Here, you'll feel better after you eat.

(phone ringing) It's Dad,

give me the phone.

- Hey, girls, how's it going? - When's he coming back?

- Everything's fine here.

- [Father] I got good news.

I should be back tomorrow night.

- Tell him about the bear. - Well, I gotta go, girls.

- Why didn't you tell him about the bear?

- He's got enough to worry about.

(Lucy sighing)

We have so much stuff to do, just forget about it.

- I thought Dad told you to stop scaring me like that.

- I don't really remember.

Why is the gate on the ground?

- I guess the bear did more damage than I thought.

- Then we better go check the other animals.

(gate clattering)

Betty's missing,

but the fence isn't broken.

It's like

something came and lifted a whole cow out of the pen.

- No, cows can jump pretty high when they're scared.

She probably just got spooked by a predator

and jumped the fence.

Let's go look in the woods for her.

(suspenseful music)

We can cover more ground.

(Mia scoffing)

- All right.

(suspenseful music)

(animal calling) (Mia gasping)

- What's wrong?

I felt like something was watching me.

And then I heard a noise, and I got scared,

and I just ran.

- Well, there's no sign of her up here anyway.

Let's just get out of the forest

and go look around the barn.

It's cow hair.

- Oh, I'm so sorry, Betty.

(creature growling) (Mia gasps)

- Get to the house.

(ominous music)

- What are we gonna do?

- We're not gonna do anything.

We're just gonna leave it alone and it will leave us alone.

Let's go rest.

(Lucy panting)

What was that?

We can't let it get to the babies.

- We can't go out there.

Dad told me bears are more scared of us

than we're scared of them.

I just have to make some noise

and scare it away.

- Wait.

Take Dad's gun.

Be careful.

- If anything happens to me, forget the animals.

- We just saw a Bigfoot.

- This isn't happening.

What are we supposed to do?

It'll ruin the reputation of the farm.

- No, bigger than a bear, Dad,

something we've never seen before.

- [Father] I'll try to be home as fast as I can.

I mean, what's it doing?

- It's killing the animals,

and now it's stalking us.

worry about yourselves.

- What if he doesn't make it back in time?

I just thought I heard a noise.

than be torn apart and eaten.

We can outsmart it.

I need to board up the window where it got in

so it can't keep coming inside.

- We can't go outside to get the wood.

- We don't have to.

There's some scrap wood in the basement.

We just have to figure out how to down quietly.

We'll seal the house up,

then figure out how to protect the animals.

- We have to stay inside.

- Every time this thing takes one of our cows,

that's one more trip Dad has to take

to replace the money.

We have to save this farm

if we wanna save our family.

(ladder creaking)

We left the door unlocked.

He's smart enough to open doors.

- No, with these old farmhouse doors,

the slightest force can knock them open.

That's why we have to keep it locked.

(Lucy sighing)

- Well, it's your fault, you should've locked it.

- Very funny.

Let's go rest and get a plan together in case he comes back.

(lighter clicking)

It's gonna be getting dark soon.

Let's just listen to the radio,

relax, and take our mind off of things.

I'm gonna go make sure everything is secure.

- [Radio Broadcaster] We interrupt this broadcast

with breaking news.

Authorities are reporting multiple sightings of a large,

unidentifiable creature in the region.

Local residents have reported that it is extremely hostile,

with several homes and vehicles destroyed.

Several injuries have been reported,

and at least two people are confirmed missing.

Law enforcement advises everyone in the area

to stay indoors and remain in lockdown.

We will continue to provide updates as we learn more.

- That must be why he leaves.

When I was out there,

I just kept thinking to myself how I didn't want to die,

and how I needed to get back to you.

I was too tired to move my arms or legs.

It was over for me.

I wouldn't have expected you to save me.

- I couldn't just sit there and watch him kill you.

I decided in that moment

that I wouldn't let fear destroy my family.

you're not the only one who's scared.

but I've been terrified these past few days.

Every time we scare him away or think he's left,

I was crying the whole time.

That's what Dad sees in us, even when we're scared.
