All right, so basically this kid gets away with murder. Yes, sir.

I call him the stalker.

This is really upsetting.

He gets off on that violation of boundaries.

Ooh, the dark is getting darker.

My name is Amy Allen.

I see dead people. There is a skinwalker here.

I speak to dead people.

And they speak to me.

He wants to collect the women.

But there's only one way to know if my findings are real.

They're blocking the life out of these people.

I rely on my partner.

I'm Steve DeShop.

I'm a retired New York City homicide detective.

This is the kind of case that would have haunted me. And I know every person,

every house has secrets.

It's my job to reveal them. But Steve and I never speak. We never communicate

during an investigation.

Until the very end.

Is that what I think it is?

Yes. When we uncover if it's safe for you to stay. I told you he was trying to

kill me.

We're time to get out. You have a dead person inside you.

So, I'm out here in the small city of Cedar Falls, Iowa. It's about an hour

north of Cedar Rapids.

A mom named Stacy called me in, and she says whatever's in the house is trying

to rip her family apart.

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to talk to about this.

I have no one to turn to.

Now, she sounds really bad and says if Amy and I can't help, she doesn't think

her marriage is going to make it.

Interesting, interesting.

I encountered a young female, four to five years of age. With her was an older

boy. So I put him at eight or nine. There was an older male.

I think he had, you know, dementia or something.

It's like they're family. And there is something about accidents.

So I'm thinking that that's a problem.

So, Stacey, you didn't sound real happy about this situation on the phone.

No. What's it like living here?

It's a living hell.

We have things going on that I can't explain.

We're not a close family like we used to be.

We don't get along.

We hate each other.

That's a pretty bold statement, right? I'm not proud to say that.

Have you lived here a long time?

We have lived here 10 years now.

You think something in this house is making you want to stay here?

Yeah.

I do.

Now, I noticed you got the cemetery behind you. Did you see that?

Yeah. But that didn't bother us.

Do me a favor.

Tell me exactly who's living in the house.

This is my son, Jacob, and me in the middle. Right. And my husband, Bernie.

And then this is my daughter, Michaela. She's 22, and she just recently moved

out of the house.

Okay, who do you think is being affected the most?

Probably my husband.

Okay, in what way? He has completely changed personality.

It's just gotten to the point where if we don't figure out what's going on,

we're going to end up in a divorce.

So your son, how is he affected by this mood stuff?

He has withdrawn himself into his bedroom. He doesn't talk to us. He's not

kid. We knew.

And your daughter?

When she was living here, her and I were at each other 24 -7. We couldn't stand

each other. I wanted to strangle her.

That's your little girl.

It is my little girl.

It's okay to cry about your kid.

Yeah. You know, I've got to be honest with you. Families have issues.

Kids, 17 -year -olds are moody. Right.

Husbands and wives have issues.

Mm -hmm. Why do you believe this is paranormal and not just lifecraft?

When we leave to go somewhere together as a family, we are wonderful.

Well, you know what? I hope it's paranormal then, because then we can try

it. Yeah.

I think that this house has sensitive in it.

It's odd. I mean, I'm seeing, like, the dead kids are sitting on the floor.

And the dead guy, you know, the dementia dude's sitting on the couch.

They're watching the television.

There's living people around. It's like they're family.

The emotional toll is not good. What do you mean? The little girl's real

depressed. The dementia guy, his moods are all over the place.

The living being the way they are, sensitive.

to some extent, will pick up on the emotions of these dead people.

That takes its toll.

All right, so what's going on in this part of the house?

One day when I was sitting on this couch watching TV with my husband, I was

scratched.

Okay, now I know you have animals, right? Do you have cats? I do.

Cats and dogs both, but they were not in the house at the time. Any chance that

you might have... Taking a nap and scratch yourself by accident?

No. As you can see, I chew my fingernails off, unfortunately, and it's

habit I have.

All right. Well, living in this house, I can't say that I blame you.

Anything else?

I am hearing the voices of my kids when they're not home. You do have a bird,

right? I do.

Is this one that talks?

He does. So is it possible you're hearing the bird?

No, definitely not. You'll know her voice when you hear it.

What do you think this all is?

I just think there's something just toying with me, just driving me nuts.

Okay.

So the little girl and the little boy certainly prefer this room.

So I feel like a little person in here gets pissed off.

Because they're hearing all this ruckus from these kids. And they're like...

Tired, you know, or trying to sleep or something, getting pissed, like, knock

off, you know?

I know the little girl, and she would do things like a four - or five -year -old

kid would do, like maybe throwing things or throwing fits, wanting attention.

Really a problem.

What's going on in here?

Seeing a tall, shadow -like being, he torments me.

In what way?

He watches me sleep. He watches everything I do. He knows I see it. He

will follow me.

And I'm losing my mind because he's always there.

I even gave it a nickname. I call him The Man.

What do you think it wants, the endgame? For me to...

Become victim to it.

Do you think it's capable of ending your life? Yeah, I do.

There is, in fact, another dead person.

This is, I think, what they think is a shadow person.

He doesn't have any boundaries.

He's always around at inappropriate times.

If they're in the shower, he's watching.

If, you know, like private moments, you know.

That's what he likes to watch.

He gets off on that violation of boundaries.

How does he make that known?

I feel like they see him.

You know, like, I'm here and I'm watching you and I caught you, you know.

You know what he's like?

He's like a stalker.

So, Michaela, I understand that you used to live down here. Mm -hmm. And you

recently moved out. Yes. Now, is that because of the paranormal that's going

Yeah. I think a lot of our issues are caused by the, like, energy that's in

house. Because me and my mom, we'd cuss each other out. We would throw stuff.

Okay, so you've experienced the mood changes. Anything else that you've

experienced? I've seen what my mom calls the man.

The shadow.

Mm -hmm.

It just watches.

How's it feel to you? Like, is it somebody stalking you or just curious?

It feels really creepy. It feels like he's eavesdropping on everything, always

watches what you do, like, even if you're, like, undressing to go take a

Okay, so anything else?

There would be times where I would wake up with bruises up and down my legs.

I mean, is it possible you're having some violent dreams or something and

be doing that to yourself?

I don't really have nightmares.

Okay.

You got a lot going on. I mean, is there anything else happening?

There was one night where I was laying in bed and it felt like something

my foot. Did it feel like a human hand? Yeah. It felt like a hand, but it was

super cold.

When you say it, what do you think it is?

I think it is the man.

That's how I feel. I always see it.

And when I do see it, I get really, like, emotional because it scares me,

don't want it to cause our family to split up.

For the longest time, I thought it was all because of me.

Why, honey?

Because everything would always be about me. I would be the one to cause all the

issues.

That's why, for the longest time, I thought my dad hated me.

Yeah,

we don't want you crying.

Don't blame yourself, honey.

I love my family, and I really hope whatever it is we can get rid of.

Well, somebody in this bed feels like they've been touched.

I think female.

Something about their feet and their ankles.

And I feel like kicking, like they're trying to kick something off of them.

And I'm hearing the woman, stop it, stop it.

Stop it.

I mean, obviously, we'd all point our fingers at the stalker guy.

Negativity down here.

We got a living person having much issues down here.

Like just rage and...

Hatred, and it's just absorbed into the wall.

It's so much energy. It just drains you. I feel like I'm going to throw up.

Are you experiencing anything you can't explain?

Mood changes are a big one.

Okay, let's talk about that because your mom mentioned that to me. Yeah, you can

be... Happy somewhere out like outside and then you'll come inside and your

whole mood will change All right. So listen, I was 17 once are you doing any

drugs? No, you're sure 100 % Okay The person in here

to me it feels like a male teenager anger This

person feels like a monster and there's like this worry and anxiety about it

that they're a monster

Do you know if other people are noticing the changes in this person?

I would think so.

What kind of changes would these be?

Isolating himself, being short -tempered. I think that could turn into

bad situation.

Like what?

He would be like the stalker guy.

Hey, Bernie.

How you doing, Steve?

How are you? I'm doing good.

So, your wife called us in. You know why we're here.

Yes. As far as experiences, have you had any?

Objects moving.

I'll set down a pen, coffee cup.

I'll turn around or go to the bathroom. I'll come back and it'll be gone.

How do you know that it couldn't be anybody else doing it?

It's usually just me and my wife and my son. My son stays in his room and my

wife wouldn't do that to me.

Anything else?

A few years ago, me and my wife were getting ready to go to bed.

Next thing I know, she's honestly talking in another language.

Okay. What do you think is going on there?

I don't want to say possession, but it possibly could be.

Does she know she's doing it? No. Nope. She stops her, comes to, and she doesn't

remember anything that happened.

Okay. Anything else?

The biggest thing is the anger.

Stacey had a lot to say about that.

Do me a favor and describe these mood changes for me. I mean, it could be

anything. It could be an empty cup in the fridge, and it just sets me off. Are

you bodybuilding? Are you doing juice or anything like that? No, I'm definitely

not. How are you so sure that this is not just you two becoming hateful of

other, resentful, and not the paranormal?

What I do now is not me.

I know that for a fact. It's not a psychological thing. It's a paranormal

We've been married almost 17 years, I love my family more than anything in

world.

Sadness, sadness. There's more agitation in here.

Anxious, depressed and anxious.

This person, they have changed.

Like they're not the person they used to be and that they're now like a monster.

Now, this is our first investigation in Cedar Falls, Iowa, so I've been making a

bunch of calls, reaching out to new contacts.

One of them, a genealogist, just got back to me.

She says one of the first owners of Stacy and Bernie's property has a tragic

story I definitely want to know about.

So, Ricky, I appreciate you helping me out with this case of mine. Now, you

mentioned on the phone that this guy had a pretty...

Tragic story, but before we even get to that stuff, what do we know about this

guy? Who was he?

His name was Andrew Malarkey, and he moved from Ireland in 1830 when he was

years old. Then in 1848, he married his wife Ellen in Illinois, and they had

their first child, William, in 1850.

Okay, so Ricky, when did they wind up on the client's property?

After the birth of William, they moved to your client's property, and a year

later, they had a son, Owen.

All right, so I know things went bad for him at some point. What happened?

On December 11, 1852.

Two -year -old William died from unknown causes.

All right, so it's the 1850s.

Kid dies from unknown causes. It's kind of common, I mean. Yeah, it is. They did

have five more kids after William's death.

Okay. But tragedy did happen again, this time in 1861, when they lost their six

-year -old daughter, Mary, and their two -year -old daughter, Alice. And then a

year later, they lost one -year -old Clara, all from unknown causes.

I couldn't imagine losing one kid, let alone four. I mean, was that it for this

guy's tragedy?

No. On December the 12th, 1863, it was around 6 p .m., Andrew got drunk and

passed out behind the drugstore.

I mean, what happened?

So when he woke up from being passed out behind the drugstore, he was

disoriented and fell into a fast -moving body of water.

He called out for help, but it was too late for him, and he drowned.

Ah.

How old was he?

He was 43.

Ah, so he was young.

Do we have any idea where this guy's buried?

Actually, the whole family's buried behind your client's house.

Here's pictures of their headstone.

Wow. No, it's a sad story. I mean, this guy immigrated from Ireland.

The American dream didn't go well for him. No, it didn't.

I'm seeing the little girl again.

And she was talking about an accident involving a male who died,

I think, like, I don't know, from a fall.

I think that it is the dementia guy.

And I saw the boy and girl's graves.

There were also five other headstones. They as well were very old.

And it was a family. Three children, I believe.

They were smaller headstones. And then the two parents. So I'm seeing seven

deaths in total.

So I've got clients who believe the paranormal is tearing their family

And so far, I know that five people who all died way too young.

are buried in the cemetery next door.

But I want to see if there's anything else.

Searching through old records, I find a deadly love triangle from the late

1800s. Turns out the victim was murdered right near Stacey and Bernie's house.

So I'm headed over to meet the Cedar Falls police chief. He's pulled some

on this case and says this is a story of obsession and violence.

So, Chief, I appreciate you helping out with this case of mine.

So there's a lot of trying to wind up in murder.

What can you tell me about the people involved?

Well, the three players are, there's Richard George. He's a 21 -year -old

in a boarding house with Elmira Stickley. She's 17.

Okay. Richard's in love with Elmira.

The other person who lives in the house is Byron Wright. Byron Wright's a 21

-year -old schoolteacher.

Elmira's actually in love with Byron.

Byron wants nothing to do with Elmira.

Okay, so I can see where this is going. So you have one guy who's in love with a

girl. She wants something to do with him, but she's in love with another guy.

He wants something to do with her. Yes.

Okay.

Let's talk about these people. What do we know about them? Let's start with

Richard George guy.

All right. Well, Richard George was the son of a wealthy German merchant. He

works as a harness maker.

He's also living at the boarding house with Elmira and her mother, Mary.

And Mary's like a mother to him at the boarding house.

Okay, Chief, the guy Byron Wright, I know he's our victim. What do we know

him? He's a school teacher.

Okay. He's a smart, educated guy. You know, in this community, he would be

viewed as a real catch for somebody.

All right, so I can see with these three people living under the same roof and

what's going on, that this could be a problem. So how does it lead to him

getting murdered?

They put more and more pressure on him to fall in love with her. It doesn't

work. As they get more and more frustrated, they start to threaten him

violence. And at some point, then they turn and decide that they're going to

plan his murder.

So how does Richard George become part of this whole mess?

He's all in because he thinks that he can take out his competition once

gone and win the affection or win the love of Elmira.

All right, Chief, so if you can, do me a favor and take me through that day's

events, what happened.

Well, on January 6, 1873, he comes home for lunch. While he's eating his lunch,

Elmira takes a revolver, shoots him in the back of the head.

Byron doesn't die instantly. He gets up, tries to flee the residence.

Richard George then takes that same revolver, shoots him again in the back

the head.

All right, so two shots to the head. Is he DOA at the scene at this point? He

actually survives for another two years.

Because of the injuries, he's deemed insane, and ultimately he dies in 1875

those injuries.

What happens with all of them? Let's start with the Mother Mary.

Mary went to trial, was found guilty of complicity of murder.

Okay. Mary got a nine -year prison sentence.

Okay. What about the one at the center of all this mess, Elmira?

Well, Elmira went to trial. She was convicted of attempted murder.

She only got one year in reform school.

Guys, what about this kid Richard that they convinced to help out on this

murder? Well, Richard was being held. He wrote to his rich father in Germany.

His father came over to the U .S., posted a $2 ,000 bail.

Okay. And Rich left the United States, never to be seen again.

Okay, so he skips bail now. Yes, sir.

All right, so basically this kid gets away with murder.

This stalker guy is bad news.

There is an attachment to this location, and he lived with his mom.

Weird relationship there.

I'm kind of wondering if he did anything to people when he was alive, you know,

like if he was a rapist or worse, or if he just stalked, you know, I

don't know.

He's definitely, he's a problem.

One other story caught my attention in research.

There was a tragic accident on the river right by Stacey and Bernie's house.

I'm on my way to meet a local author who says one of the victims is now

considered to be a local hero.

John, I appreciate you coming out here and helping me out with this case. So

this drowning accident, tell me what happened.

Well, in May of 1921, two college students, Minerva Stainacre and Marie

were coming downstream by canoe.

The water was like it was today. The current was really strong.

All right, so what happened?

Well, within line of sight of the dam, the boat stalled. The girls panicked.

Unfortunately, it capsized, put them both in the water, and left them at the

mercy of the current.

Oh. All right, so I'm assuming this is the part where the hero comes in?

Yeah. An 18 -year -old kid named Philip Lund was working at a boat launch that

night and saw all this happen.

He jumped in his own canoe. He was able to make it out to the girls. Okay. And

they climbed onto the side of the boat.

I got to assume at this point, this is when things go bad, right? Things went

very bad.

The current was too strong, and unfortunately, Philip couldn't break

all three of them ended up going over the dam.

Anybody survive?

Minerva did, but unfortunately, the other two never resurfaced. I have an

article about that right here.

Did they ever recover the bodies?

Yeah, they did. As a matter of fact, they recovered them the next day, as you

can see on the death certificates here.

So the official cause of death is drowning.

That's right.

I'll tell you what, this kid had a lot of courage. I mean, he was 18 years old.

Didn't think of himself, just did what he had to do. Oh, yeah, the city

him as a hero. The city, in return for that, raised a large amount of money,

part of which went to his parents, who were in poor health at the time, and the

other part was used to erect a large memorial at his gravesite, which is

behind your client's home.

You're kidding me, really?

Really. He is a hero. He sacrificed his own life to save somebody else.

What a shame.

Absolutely.

It's uncomfortable.

I just keep hearing accidents, accidents.

So are these accidents the living are having? I believe that people who have

lived on this land have suffered an unusual amount of accidents

over the time that they've lived here.

I think that the living would definitely...

Probably have accidents here.

Different manners of accidents.

It doesn't seem like it's just walls.

I saw a lot of disturbing things on my walk, but the stalker tormenting a

person in the master bedroom has me the most concerned.

He looks like...

A three -dimensional charcoal sketch.

A short neck, larger than average head.

He is touching this living woman in this room.

Can you remember his face at all?

It was all darkness.

Should we make his neck thicker?

Yeah.

Amy, is this what you saw?

Yes.

Now that Amy and I have completed our investigations,

We're ready to reveal our findings to each other and our clients for the first

time.

So, Amy, I want you to meet Stacy and Bernie.

They've been married for about 17 years, and if we can't help them, they're not

going to make it to 18.

This is their daughter, Michaela. She's 22.

Now, Michaela used to live here, but she moved out about a month ago.

I mean, she couldn't take it anymore.

Now, their son, Jacob, who's 16, still lives here.

Now, basically, we've got a family that's torn apart, right?

And they're actually hoping it's the paranormal, because otherwise it means

shouldn't be together.

Unless Amy's got some questions for you guys, she'll describe her walk for us.

One of the first groups of dead people that I encountered seemed to be a

Then there was an old male that I encountered who was like probably, you

65 to 70. He seemed really confused about his age.

The little girl specifically is very lonely and she is seeking

attention. When she gets frustrated, she does tend to throw tantrums,

like she'll throw things.

I'll sit down and have a...

pen or a glass or something sitting next to me and i'll either turn around or go

into another room and come back and it'll be gone i was sitting on the couch

here and it was bernie and i watched television and all of a sudden scratched

and that was the first big thing that had happened when we lived here okay

scared the crap out of me possible it's one of those family members or something

else possibility that the little girl did that definitely shocking yeah now

this

Family do anything else to the living here? Yes. The older male, he's not very

stable as far as mood.

One minute he'll be okay, and then he's pissed off.

I think he had a little bit of an illness.

And then the little girl does carry a lot of depression with her because she

feels lonely.

I do feel like each of you have your own sensitivities.

So I do think you guys...

would definitely at times feel this way, like these unstable moods.

Well, this is a big reason we're here. I mean, everyone in the house thinks

their personalities have changed.

And it's tearing the family apart, basically.

Durango issues, tell me what's going on with that.

When I'm outside of the house, I'm fine.

When I come home, I just snap.

And it scares the out of me because I either punch something, I throw

something.

I... I feel like everything's my fault in the house when we come to fight and

stuff. The little comments really make me mad, and I lash out, and I get angry,

and I get an attitude problem.

But then I also get super depressed.

I feel alone.

I'm isolated. I feel in my own hell.

So as far as the family goes, any idea who they were when they were alive?

When I met the little girl, she kept talking to me about an accident

male who died.

He died from a fall.

And I saw the boy and the girl's grave in a cemetery. There were also

five other headstones that I was seeing. And three of those were children and

two were adults.

So seven deaths in total here.

So it's interesting. Some of the stuff she talked about reminded me of the

owners of the property.

He was an Irish immigrant by the name of Andrew Malarkey.

He and his wife, Ellen, and newborn son, William, moved onto the property in

1850. But things didn't go well for him right after that.

So Malarkey wound up having seven kids, and four of them died under the age of

six within a less than 10 -year time period.

Now, you said the kids were showing you an accident.

So in 1863, Malarkey passed out drunk behind a drugstore.

Now, the genealogist I spoke to said he was pretty hammered. He woke up confused

and still drunk.

And he stumbled around and he fell into a stream.

And he drowned.

So when Malarkey died, he was about 43 years old.

Now, I know it was dark during the walk, right?

And you were here.

So I don't know if you noticed, but there's a cemetery right behind the

Andrew and his entire family are actually buried back there. Oh.

So what else?

This dead individual, I call him the stalker.

I think that y 'all might think he's a shadow person, but he's not. He is a

deceased male.

So this guy is always watching and he's always waiting for,

you know, your most intimate or personal moments so he can, you know, violate

them.

I'm sorry.

Well, there's a reason she's upset, and both of them are.

You actually even came up with a name for this thing, Stacy, right? We call

the man, kind of always watching, looking down at us, and he's always

lurking somewhere in the house.

Now, McKaylee, you saw him in the basement, right?

It was, like, smoky, but you could tell that it was, like, a person. I could

see, like, shoulders and head.

I used to feel creeped out downstairs taking showers in the basement.

I saw him grabbing a living person's feet and ankles in there.

It seemed sexually motivated.

I would wake up with, like, little thumb bruises, it looks like, on my legs to

my feet, and one night it felt like something grabbed my foot.

He's always lurking, standing in my back bedroom behind him.

Behind the door.

So what she's telling you that she's experiencing, does that sound something

like this shadow guy's doing? Yes.

I had a sketch done.

This is more than just staring.

Yeah, that's where he stands.

So, Bernie, you've seen that sketch. I want you to do me a favor and tell Amy

about the time you thought your wife was actually possessed.

We were laying there, and she actually started talking in what I would say

is another language.

And I would actually have to shake her, you know, to get her awake, and she

wouldn't remember any of it happening.

It was very scary.

I remember him telling me about it now.

I mean, any idea who this, lack of a better word, was when he was alive?

I got that he did have an attachment to this property.

He lived with his mother, and there was some kind of a weird relationship.

It seemed like when he was alive, he had this feeling like that he's bad, he's

wrong, you know, he's messed up. So I do think that he might have in life been a

serial rapist or a serial stalker.

It's a shot in the dark, but some of the stuff she's talking about reminds me of

a story I came across from research.

So on the property here, there used to be a boarding house.

One of the guys who lived there was a 21 -year -old guy named Richard George.

Now, you said stalker guy.

It was in a weird relationship, right?

So George was in love with the daughter of the woman who ran the boarding house,

who he considered a mom to him.

Copy that.

The girl's name was Elmira Fickley, and she was 17.

But here's the rub, okay? Now, Elmira didn't care about Richard George at all.

She was in love with another boarder, a 21 -year -old teacher by the name of

Byron Wright.

Byron wants nothing to do with her.

So now Elmira winds up going to Richard George and says to him, can you do me a

favor and help me kill Byron so that she can get some revenge on him? Being a

poor sap that he is, and he's so in love with her, he went along with it.

On January 6, 1873, Wright is eating lunch in the boarding house when Elmira

comes up behind him and puts one in the back of his head.

It doesn't kill him.

Richard George grabs the gun, puts one in his cheek.

The teacher managed to wind up living for two years.

But his brain was swollen and he went crazy before he died. I mean, he

a lot. There's an article on it.

Now, Myra only got one year in a reform school.

Now, Richard George was from a wealthy family in Germany. So the father comes

over and posts his bail for him. After he posts his bail, he takes off.

Never heard from him again.

I mean, is there any chance Richard George could be the stalker guy?

I think it's interesting with your perception of her speaking a foreign

language. And that guy being from Germany, I just thought that's

So I walked down into the basement and I got hit with overwhelming negativity.

The emotions were so overwhelming that I almost wanted to vomit.

And this is coming from a living person.

To me, it felt like it might have been a teenage male.

This living person is feeling intense rage and hate.

There's also depression and sadness.

The living person is also feeling like they're changing and that they're

becoming a monster.

The stalker dude is all about this. And I don't like that because he put

these cords into this living person and he's trying to make them bad.

The living person is changing. Self -isolation and being very short

and, you know, these are the changes that I saw.

Well, Michaela, you lived in the basement up until about a month ago,

you had told me you were changing while you were here.

I would lash out at little things and I would have hatred for everybody in the

house.

And I would say the most hurtful things to everybody.

Stacey, you also told me that Jacob's become withdrawn and different, right?

guys have all seen it.

He's isolated.

He has temper.

Sometimes he is very short -fused with us.

Who do you think the stalker guy is influencing?
