Hi, I'm Dean Payne, and welcome to Masters of Illusion. Now, sometimes you

people refer to magic as tricks.

I can assure you... that performing magic can be quite tricky, but I can

tell you that everything you're about to see on this stage will happen right

before your very eyes.

You decide if there are any tricks.

So, look, you've been the host of this show for a long time. Many years. But I

have yet to see you do a trick.

I have yet to see you do any illusions, per se.

That's because I don't know how to do anything.

What I've got to show you is an illusion. Look, tie the knot inside of

Look, I can actually pull that right off the handkerchief.

Wow. Do you want to give this a try?

Yeah. All right, here, look, I'll start it for you. Start the knot. Do me a

I know all you magic fans are familiar with the term slight of hand.

Well, here's something that we describe as light of mind.

They say the hands are quicker than the eyes.

We'll do that again in case you missed it. So this time, try not to blink, or

you might just miss the moment.

Now, Siobhan, was it?

Yes. Sivan, pleasure to meet you. Nice to meet you. We are going to play a

Sivan. And we need some money for this, so can you take out your wallet for me?

Of course.

Okay. And take out a bill.

I only have this. Is this okay?

That works perfectly.

$100, okay? So you can place that inside.

And the game is, I'm going to make your $100 bill vanish and then reappear

without me ever touching it. So put your hand on top so nothing can get in or

out. Is that fair?

Fair. Good.

Now, I'm going to be honest with you all. It's going to be very difficult to

make your $100 bill vanish, so it's going to require a lot of misdirection.

before we get back to that, I'm going to have you select one of these.

We're going to do it kind of differently. Can you take your right and

finger? In just a moment, you're going to peel somewhere in the middle and just

remember that card.

But we're just going to use one hand. So I'm going to close my eyes, look the

other way, go for it. One finger, somewhere in the middle. Remember that

I'm going to steal that card out, okay? So focus on the color of your card.

It's red, yes?

Yes. Could have been black, 50 -50. No one's impressed.

So just go to the suit itself.

That is hard.

Yes. Good. Now jump to the value.

Wait, wait, wait.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Siobhan, but is your card the five of hearts? It is.

Good. So when I said I'm going to steal out your card, I meant that literally.

Because if you take a look at the cards right now, you can see that your card is

no longer in the deck.

Siobhan, I said this uses one hand, right?

I never said which. If you take a look down here in my pocket, there's one

which is your five of hearts.

Now, while all of you were focusing on these cards, you weren't focusing close

enough on the card box.

Your hand has been on top since the start, right? Yes.

So, Vaughn, go ahead. Take it out. Take out your $100 for me.

Open that up.

Nothing else.

Inside. Okay, I only managed to steal $99, but I said I'd make them come back,

right? Yes. Can I borrow this hand? Okay. Take one step back with me.

And this time, I think the experiment might just succeed.

Here's Randy Shine.

I'd like to introduce you to my volunteer for this evening.

Naomi. Nice to meet you, Naomi.

I'd like to show you a mission using three half dollars.

And we're going to use three principles.

Those principles are luck, faith, and skill.

So if I'm lucky, this first coin right here, I can take it, and with a puff of

air, it completely vanishes.

That's one down, two to go. The second coin is faith, and faith is believing in

yourself. And I believe I can make this second coin right here vanish at the

speed of sound. The third and final coin is still.

Still is something that takes months, days, years to master. I make this coin

travel from here to there.

That's coin number one. Coin number two, you look right there, right there. Coin

number two, right there.

And the third and final coin. Watch here. As I shake, that coin would slowly

materialize. Right there. That's one. That's two.

That's three.

Now, we're going to deepen this mystery only using two coins.

You have one. I'm going to give you a mark with that. Place both hands

like that.

Now, Naomi, we're going to do this in slow motion.

A squeeze.

Pause.

Brad called.

And it landed in your hand. Can you see it?

It's right there.

Inside their hand.

Now Naomi, we're going to do this one more time.

Remember, three is the number of misters.

Right. How many points do you have in your hand? One. How many do I have in my

hand? One. Show the friends at home.

Make a tight fist.

Squeeze tight.

It turned into a piece of dust.

I coughed in the air.

Did you feel it land on the top of your fist, yes or no? No.

That's because I missed.

And it landed on top of your other hand right there.

This next illusion is absolutely electric.

Jim. Jim, would you like to do a card trick with me? Sure.

Awesome. I have a deck of cards here.

We're going to take one out.

Just like that.

Jim, whenever you're ready, I'm just going to ripple through like this, and

just say stop, okay? Okay. Hold your hand out flat like a table, and stop.

That's all right. We'll try it again. I got more in here. I always bring extra

for that reason.

Okay.

Except this time, Jim, if you don't mind, I'm just going to do it in my hand

keep it simple. You just say stop whenever you're ready. Okay.

Stop. Right there? Yeah. Are you sure? Yeah. Perfect. Take a look at that card.

Show everyone here that card. Do not show me.

Now, Jim, in my pocket, I have a permanent marker.

And if I can get you to mark that card for me.

You know what? Put something we don't know. Maybe like your social security

number. Just anything that works.

Perfect, Jim. Let me see that pen.

So, Jim, you got that card? We're going to do the same thing again. You just say

stop whenever you're ready.

Jim, if you notice, I have a light bulb sitting right here.

I actually got this one from my hotel room.

I couldn't get it to unscrew, so I just cut the cord.

But, Jim, if I can get you to actually hold that and hold the light bulb right

across here for me.

Good. All I'm going to do is I'm going to take the cards one at a time and tap

them. Hopefully, if I did this trick correctly, your card should light up on

ball. That sounds like a bright idea, right? Yeah.

Jim,

what was your card again?

It was the two of hearts.

Two of hearts?

Did it look something like that? Yeah. And is that your signature?

Okay, so now I'm going to do some of the card magic. Okay, I want to show you

some of the sleight of hand here. So I just shuffle the card like this way.

So first, I want to find some of my favorite cards from this deck of cards.

I hope you like this kind of trick. Okay, so I shuffle once and finding four

kings. Okay.

All right, I just do this. One, two, three.

Just like that.

So, okay.

All right. Thank you. Okay. Now I like you. Thank you. Okay. I have red kings

and black kings here, and I'm going to do magic with these kings. But I need to

help a little. I drop card like this way, so you can say stop, and we're

to choose one card for everyone. Okay? Okay. Okay. Please say stop.

Stop. Okay. Very good. I put one card here.

So far, I don't know what is this card, and you don't know, and everybody don't

know the card. So you are going to find out what is your chosen card. Okay. It's

going to be pretty exciting.

So could you choose red or black?

Red. Red. Okay, I have the red king here, right? I put this king top and the

bottom, and just ripple like this. Okay, one, two, three. Done.

Okay. Yep, actually it's okay. Two kings went in the middle and finding one

card. But this is not your chosen card because your chosen card is right here.

So let me see.

It's interesting. It's a five of a spade. Huh.

So far...

It's all right. So good.

No, so good, right. So now I use black kings here, okay? So I do this, and I

just throw the card like this, one, two, three, just like that. So I find

another card here, and this is a, huh, interesting, five of a card, huh.

I take one red, one black, and I do this, and just do that. So I find

one, too.

It's not going to be a five. Is it going to be a five? Yeah, five of hearts. So

five of hearts, red, and five, so which means that maybe, so I don't know, but

how do you say, what are you going to be choosing card?

Uh, five of diamonds?

Five of diamonds?

Yes, it is! Oh, you're great!

Oh,

Japanese way. There we go.

Okay, good. All right. So, well, it's great, right? Like, you know, four kings

finding your card. I mean, like, you found out what you had chosen card. It's

miracle.

It's magic. It's magic, yeah. But people think this is a special card, but

actually these things are a little bit more special because you can see these

things I was using, right? But actually, this is a different color.

I mean, this is also another color. It's like all red, pink, white color. It's

kind of interesting. You know, but not just that. Actually, this card is really

special because this is nothing.

I mean, you have no idea. It is really nothing, so you can't see that.

I mean, it's all white card like this. You can see.

I mean, I can put card on table. Like, it's all white card. It's just like pink

and five and all white card. But interesting thing is that you can

everything. You can check everything, and you can check every single piece.

And if you want to, you can take everything to your home so it's sitting

for you.

You got one. Excellent. Show it to the audience. Remember that cracker. Matt,

can you do me a favor? Can you write your name on that cracker?

Excellent.

I won't look. Perfect.

Excellent. Get the pen out of the way.

Show it to everyone. There it is. There it is. Got it over there.

Perfect. All right, Matt.

Here's the deal. Your cracker goes into the stack of the crackers. Now, I want

you to shuffle them up. Mix them up.

Don't break them.

Be gentle. We're going to make a mess here in a second, but I want you to mix

those bad boys up. Give them as good of a cracker mix as you possibly can.

I'm going to make a mess. Let me get my drop cloth off.

Got it at target. All right.

So here's what's going to happen. In a moment, you are going to toss.

the crackers in the air. As they fall down, I'm going to look for the cracker

with your name on it. When I see it, I'm going to reach out and grab the cracker

like a seagull at the pier.

Is that what a seagull sounds like? Yeah.

All right.

I am ready. Are you ready? Just gentle. Do not blast me in the face. Go for one,

two, Three.

One cracker in my hand. Max, is that your cracker?

Was that your cracker?

All right.

Plan B.

Let's see.

Do me a favor.

Here. I don't have these unwrapped already. Pick a cracker. Just grab one.

let me see it. All right. Show it. Show it to the audience. Hold it up. Show it

to them. Perfect. Wait. Hang on.

Turn it around. Look at it.

There's writing on that. Open that bad boy up. There's the childproof crackers.

Take it out.

Show it to the audience.
