Illusion, the art of tricking the brain, distorting the senses, challenging
perception. You can't trust what you see, even with your own eyes.
Meet the Masters of Illusion.
Hi,
I'm Dean Dane, and welcome to Masters of Illusion.
Okay, we all know that magic isn't really real.
Right?
Right?
It's just illusions.
Tricks to make you think you're seeing something that you know is not possible.
Well, don't tell that to Eric Jones because magic is the only word I can use
describe his skills. Hello, Eric. How are you, man? Elbows.
43 quintillion. That's the magic number.
43 quintillion. 43 quintillion are the amount of possibility with one of these.
Yes. Now, a lot of people know about flight of hand. What I want to do is
you something a little bit different called a flight of mouth.
Okay.
Eric Jones, ladies and gentlemen, program.
Next up is a variation on a cop.
Here is Alex Ramone.
All right.
This is part of the show where I saw someone in half.
Are there any volunteers?
Does anybody want to volunteer someone else?
Okay, you know what? This illusion isn't fooling anyone.
Think about it.
A really big box.
You can never look inside to see if there are fake legs.
There's this big metal thing the magician says is a thaw, but it couldn't
through anything.
And then the most obvious part. You can tell the girl has room to move around,
like she can get out of the way. It's obvious. But I'm still going to perform
this illusion despite what I just said. But all those classic elements that made
this illusion possible are now gone.
First, that really big bop, it's gone.
This is what we're going to use.
I have a T -square here with a ruler.
I'm going to measure the depth of the box, which is 10 inches. And can you
please confirm for everyone that is what it says? 10 inches, correct?
Yeah. Now I'll measure the width of the box. From shoulder to shoulder, it is 14
and a half inches.
14 and a half?
All right. Now the box is actually smaller than 14 and a half by 10 because
the thickness of the materials used. Take a look inside. Nothing to see.
Nothing to hide. There are no fake legs.
Now, since I do not fit inside this box, and no magician has ever sawed himself
in half, I'd like to please welcome to the stage Miss Megan Doyle.
You're about to see something that even puzzles magicians.
And now for the second element, the saw.
Here's the saw with no trap doors.
And obviously, it's real.
Some people believe in the law of attraction, the idea of being able to
things into existence.
Our next performer can do exactly that.
Here's Kevin Lee.
Let's play with some letters. I have the word empty here, but if I take off the
letter E, it still says empty.
I can take off more letters like the P,
empty, the Y, empty.
And of course, by taking off the rest, it's empty.
If I put this letter back on, what is that?
You're exactly right.
It's T.
So let's take this a step further, because I am wearing a T right now.
If I put this letter back on, it's an empty.
Let's answer something else, though, okay?
Something that you've all heard of before,
It's milk tea, right? M -T, milk tea, a .k .a.
boba, milk tea.
I'm scared to death.
An impossible prediction by the clairvoyants. Next.
He's next to never cease to amaze me. I cannot wait to see what they have in
store. Let's hear it for the Clairvoyants.
Thank you very much.
Now we want to try something, and therefore we have a couple of random
members here on stage. Thank you so much for helping out. Just for everyone at
home, nothing is set up, and you have no idea what we're doing next, right?
Great.
If this goes wrong, Everybody here on stage, I will have a little present for
you. Everybody will get a lottery ticket, Powerball from California, so
million. Not too bad.
I will leave the money and the lottery ticket right here in full view the
time. And now I have a couple of questions for you.
Hello, what is your name?
Sydney, Sydney, just give me one number between 1 and 69.
15. 15, one five. Great.
One five.
15. Okay. Hi, what is your name? Hi, my name is Lillian. Lillian, just between
the two of us, how many pairs of shoes do you own?
20. 20? Okay, that's a nice number.
Number 20 it is.
One more question for you. What is your name?
Alexandra. Alexandra, what's your favorite meal?
Taco. Taco? How many times a year do you eat tacos?
Oh, more than 69, but the number in my head is 42.
42 it is. We'll go with that. Great. 42.
Hi. What is your name? Julia. Julia. So it's one number between, let's say, 42
and 69?
49. 49. 49?
Hi, sir. How are you tonight?
Great. I'm great. Do me a favor. What is your favorite drink?
Horchata. Okay.
How often do you drink this a year?
Fifty -five.
Fifty -five. Fifty -five. Hey, hi, what is your name? My name is Aubrey. Aubrey,
last but not least, totally up to you, any number between, let's say, one and
thirty -nine?
Thirty -four.
Thirty -four, okay.
Thirty -four it is.
Thank you so much. You see, we asked our lovely audience a couple of random
questions. Yes, but also we get questions from time to time, for
You call yourself the clairvoyant, so if you know everything, why don't you just
play the lottery?
I have to tell you, tonight we played and we won.
$2 .75.
It's something. It's not a big win for Amelie and me, but maybe it's a huge win
for all of us here tonight. You remember, at the top of the egg, I
money and my lottery ticket here on the table. There's nothing in my hand.
Can you do me a favor? Can you come over here and help me out for a second? Just
place the balloon on the floor.
Stay. Stay. Perfect.
Nothing in my hand.
Take out the lottery ticket.
And for the first time, do me a favor, unfold it.
And from left to right, read out loud the numbers. What is the first number we
always play in the lottery? Fifteen.
Fifteen. If I'm correct, I think that was your number, right?
Oh, my God.
What's after that?
20. I think there's a lady on stage with 20 pairs of shoes at home.
Right after that?
42. 42. I think that was you.
After that?
49. 49 it is.
55. 55.
But at least, what is the Powerball? It is 34.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
Joe Myers, next.
I always look forward to this next performer.
I cannot wait to see what they have in store.
Here's Joe Mayer.
What is up, guys? So I am here with a random member from the audience. This is
Annabelle, right, Annabelle? Yeah.
Annabelle, here's the deal. We're going to try one of the most dangerous things
you will see live on stage. I guarantee it. But don't worry because I've turned
it into a game.
It's a fun little game, and this game is loosely based on a game that was
invented in Russia. The game that it's based on is called Russian Roulette.
Annabelle, don't freak out, okay? Because Russian roulette uses a gun.
going to use a gun. That would be crazy, psychotic. I'm either one of those
things. Yes, you are. Shut up. Sorry, there's some voices in my head.
Annabelle, what we're going to be using is the granddaddy of all cookies, the
sandwich cookie.
I love that. You like that?
So, Annabelle, here's the deal.
I've got a bunch of them here. Do me a favor and pick a cookie, any cookie.
Nicely done.
So, Annabelle, I...
I didn't say eat it.
You popped it right in your mouth.
I offered you a snack, not the whole kitchen.
Annabelle, you just dove right in. You ate the whole thing, which tells me
you're like a go -getter. You don't hesitate with anything in life, yeah? So
here's what we're going to try, though. We're going to try something insane with
the cookies. And I show you the cute stuff to show you the crazy stuff.
Annabelle, do me a favor and pick out any four cookies that you want. Four
random cookies. Take out four of them. Perfect. One, two.
Three, four, six.
Okay, here's what's going to happen.
Annabelle, I want you to take those cookies and place them one at a time on
lazy Susan like this. One at a time, each cookie on the lazy Susan. There's
two, three, four.
Awesome. Now, out of those four, choose one and hold it up like this, Annabelle,
so everybody can see.
Perfect. Annabelle, we're also going to be using something else that should not
go with any food, much less a cookie. We'll be using a stainless steel.
Razor blade.
Now, Annabelle, I want you to see this razor blade is razor sharp. It cuts
through the paper just like butter. Yeah, it's very, very real and very,
sharp, yeah? Yeah.
Okay, cool. So here's the deal.
The cookie that you chose, I'm going to take the razor blade and kind of like
stuff it into the stuffing of the cookie. You see that?
Just like that. You see it going into the stuffing of the cookie, yeah? So you
can see that, yeah?
I'm not eating another one of those.
Yeah, there we go. Perfect. That one's going to go right here. At this point,
you know that the razor blade is in that cookie. You know it. You saw it go
there. Everybody else knows that it's in that cookie.
I know that it's in the cookie. And here's what's going to happen. I need
keep an eye on that cookie, Annabelle. No matter what happens, keep watching
where the cookie is with the razor blade.
Okay, you good?
Got you, bro.
You're like, what's the confidence for that person?
So, Annabelle, at this point, honestly, you don't know where the razor blade is,
right? No.
The truth is, is the audience doesn't know. And most importantly, I don't even
know where the razor blade is. But Annabelle, we're going to find the razor
blade with the cookie. Okay. And here's how we're going to do it.
Right now, I want you to go with your first instinct and point to the cookie
that you feel in your heart is safe. Go ahead. Point to a cookie.
That one.
That's the one you feel is safe. Yeah, Annabelle?
Yeah. Watch me really closely. I'm going to pick up that cookie. Check this out.
It's safe. We're good.
No razor blades.
No razor blades, huh? No. We are safe.
Okay.
We are safe.
We have two more to eliminate, Annabelle. Remember, you're making the
not me.
Okay.
So with your first instinct, put up your finger. Any finger?
Good choice.
Point to the first Oreo you feel in your heart. It's safe, Annabelle. Go.
Got it.
Here we go.
It's good. It's good.
It's good. It's good.
It's good.
Oh, my God.
I'm getting lightheaded. This is so much sugar. Okay.
Okay. 50 -50 shot, Anvil.
You're making a choice.
Again, not me.
There's a 50 % chance you will get it right, but there's also a 50 % chance
will get it wrong.
Okay? First instinct. Look at me.
Really focus.
Put your finger above the cookies.
Point to the one you most feel in your heart is safe. Go.
That one.
You're sure, right, Animo?
You feel good about that choice?
Yeah. Yeah?
Check this out. Here we go.
Guys, please don't misinterpret what I'm about to do. If this goes wrong, this
is not me trying to hurt myself.
This is me trusting Annabelle right here, okay?
Here we go.
Annabelle?
We were so quick to do it in the beginning. Here we go.
No robots.
Holy sakes, that means the cookie that you did not think you lost, the cookie
that you literally avoided the entire time, is that razor blade, Annabelle.
Everybody, give Annabelle a big hand.
Next. the amazing card wizardry of Chute Ogawa.
Don't look away during this next trick, or you might miss it.
Here's Chute Ogawa.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This is really close -up magic, so hopefully you enjoy it. And your name
Jonathan. Jonathan and?
Fran. Fran? Okay, good. Fran, thank you so much. Well, I have a deco card here.
I mean, I don't have to show the back of the card. I use the whole deco card
here, and I shuffle cards like that way. So now, Jonathan, I need your help
first. Could you hold this for me?
So I want you to sign some of the cards. For example, this one is great because
a lot of white space here. So could you sign here?
Very good.
Is that your signature?
Yeah. It's quite simple. I can do that. Okay.
Could you pass this pen to Fran?
Fran? Okay.
Remember your signature. Just in case. Okay. One more time. I need your help.
So, Fran, I want you to sign another card here. For example, this one. How is
that? Here we go.
Perfect. It's exactly your sign, right?
Yes. Perfect.
I cannot do this one.
So, all right. I use these two cards here. So, you remember your signature,
yeah? And also, you remember your signature, yeah?
So I have these two cards here. So now I need your right hand, and I need your
right hand as well. Palm up. Very good. Okay. And palm down. So I put these two
cards on your hand like this way, and I put your hand like that way. And make a
little moment.
I think it worked.
Hopefully. Could you move your hand away? Very good. Okay.
Very good. So now it becomes one card.
It was two, right? Now it's only one.
And then this is your pincer, yes?
And maybe... Yeah.
That's my signature.
Right? It's great.
It's the one. I know. I know. I'm pretty good.
No, be humble, Japanese guy. All right. So I want to give you this.
All right. How about I give you half of them so you can keep this as souvenir so
you have a signature both of you. So this is for you. This is for me. Thank
for your applause.
And I'm very happy. You're happy.
I'm happy.
Very good. Thank you so much. Yes, this is for you. Thank you so much.
The amazing, astounding, incredible masters of illusion.
Thank you for watching, and don't forget to join us next time. Until then, I'm
Dean Cain, and good night, everyone.
