Illusion. I'm Dean Cain. Now our goal tonight is to confuse you. What you see

not really what you see.

Our brain says this cannot be true.

But your eyes, our eyes, we witness the facts.

Now, are you ready to be confused?

Because I just totally confused myself, so.

Okay, so what do you see here?

Do you see a pole surrounded by a whole bunch of circles?

Well, that pole does not exist. It is the total creation of your brain.

And the goal of our Masters of Illusion is to make you see what is not there.

There is no spoon.

They will make you believe their reality.

Combining illusion and mystery with a touch of comedy is one of Canada's most

popular magicians. Here is Chris Bum.

Well, It's card trick time, but not for our live audience. No, it's card trick

time for the people at home.

That's right. We're going to do a card trick. So I want you to get up out of

your chair, get a little bit closer to the TV and check this out. We've got

playing cards, five of them actually. What I want you to do is memorize one of

these five playing cards. Keep it locked in your brain.

Don't forget it.

I'm going to read your mind through the screen. I'll tell you exactly which card

you picked.

I think it's that one.

Check it out.

Your card's gone, isn't it?

Yeah. I knew I'd get it. That's a big mind blow.

You'll see what I mean in just a second. Here is the very charming and very

You know, sometimes people think I'm hiding stuff everywhere, and that's

correct. Could you open your hand? Okay, just I use your hand, and just grab the

So people ask me, how many cards do I have? And of course, I have two deck of

cards almost, like this.

kit for Christmas.

And people always ask how I got started. That was it. We sat up all night, read

tricks from the magic kit, and did a little show for his mom in the morning.

Jacqueline, take the cards. I'm not going to play with them. I want you to

through them. You'll see that they're all mixed up. They're all shuffled up.

Yes. Yes? Excellent. I want you to take half the cards and turn them the other

way, upside down, and I'm going to have you shuffle them together, okay? So some

are upside down, some are right side up. However you want to do it, you can mush

them together.

You can take your time.

There you go.

Is that good?

All right, you want to do it a couple, just take it up a couple more times. I

really want to make sure that they're completely shuffled up. And again, some

are up, some are down. Don't be worried because they have to be mixed up. Are

you good, Jacqueline? Okay, now I'm going to have you spread the cards in

hands. And I'm going to get out of the way because you're going to take the

card, throw them right up in the air. You're going to be raining cards. You

ready? Go for it.

And there we go. Okay.

Excellent. Okay. Now, some of them are face down.

So I'd like you to go grab three of the face down cards. One over there, one

over here, wherever you want to do. But grab three of them and put them

together. There you go. Another one.

Excellent. One more.

You got it.

Very good.

Mix them up a little bit. Shuffle them up, if you would please.

Excellent. Let me take one of those. One of those. We're going to throw this one

away, whatever it is. Okay?

Yes. We have one card left. What is it? Hold it up so everyone can see it. It is

have had this card. You could have easily taken this one. You could have

say, this one over here. You could have chosen this one here. You could have had

this one. But you went with the king of hearts.

But this is so cool. Do me a favor, if you would. I want you to hold onto this

card. Put that one on the floor.

And I want you to hold it against yourself. Don't look at it. Just stay

there. Here's the reasons why you didn't pick these. You may not realize this,

but for instance, if you had picked the two of hearts, you would have been a

loser, but you're not a loser.

No, no. If you had picked the eight of clubs, you would have been a loser, but

you're not a loser. As a matter of fact, if you had picked the queen of hearts,

loser. Or if you had picked the king, king of fate, loser.

As a matter of fact, if you had picked any of these, you would have been a

loser.

But you picked one card, one card out of 52, and I think you're a winner. Would

you very slowly turn that card around with me, ladies and gentlemen?

Magic has a wonderful history. It goes all the way back to the pyramids. What

I'm going to show you today is a wonderful illusion that was invented

years ago.

What I love about it is because it's so simple. It uses a wooden plank, a chair,

a ring, and a person from the audience.

Let me see here. Hi, what is your name?

Ashley. Ashley. Give Ashley a nice round of applause. Come on. Thank you, my

dear.

If you would, Ashley, just sit right in this chair right over here.

Great. And you get to have a little closer view of what's going to happen,

And Ashley, this is where the magic happens.

Stand right over here and look at the ball.

Now, Ashley, what I'd like you to do is point at the ball, wiggle your finger,

and your job is to get that ball all the way to the top of the plank. And if you

Then we're going to tie this to the bag itself, Jonathan. That way, there's no

way she can escape. You would think that's fair, Jonathan. Is that correct?

Jonathan, you ready for this? I'm going to take this cloth. We're going to come

up and one, two, three.
