An illusion.

Well, you'll see for yourself. Do you think you'll be able to tell the

difference?

Some things might take a little time to see. Our masters of illusion create the

unexpected.

When you're alone in a big city and you can't find transportation, this is a

trick you can use.

Time now for a card trick.

That's right. I'm going to do a little card magic, and I need somebody up close

to pick a card. Hello.

There they are. Cards, cards, cards. In a moment, I'm going to flip through the

cards like this. And when you see a card you like, simply poke your finger in it

and you'll land on a card. Can you do that?

Anytime you're ready.

Right back there.

Here. Good. Take the card. Look at it. And then hold it up so the camera right

here can see it.

Make sure they see it at home. Yes?

And now put the card back into the deck wherever you like. Just slide it. Right.

Oh. Okay. You shoved it all the way in. I'll never find it.

Okay, pretty much ruined that one. I appreciate it. Thanks so much. Okay, I'm

going to try and find the card anyway.

But I will attempt to locate the card in a dangerous way with the aid of this

Denzu cooking knife. It dices, it slices, it makes mounds and mounds of

fries. This is the real cooking knife that you see on those late night

infomercials. Authentic wood grain handle, stainless steel blade. And these

knives, trust me when I say, they're sharp. Don't try it again. Oh!

Now it's time for a lesson in mathematics.

Proving magic and arithmetic can be fun. Here is Andy Gladwin.

So true story before as a professional magician I used to be a computer

programmer and this next trick is inspired by that because I'm gonna try

program this deck of cards It's a number deck. It has numbers on both sides They

go from 1 to about 300 and we're gonna have somebody pick one of these cards.

Would you help with it? You can stay there just look through the cards make

they are all different They really are just grab one of these cards for me.

That's fantastic.

And that was a free choice I didn't make you pick that card.

And what is the number on the card?

153. Now there's another number on the other side because the cards are double

-sided. So what's the other number?

177. We'll use the smallest one for this because it'll be quicker.

153. I will now attempt to program your randomly selected number into this deck.

Bear with me.

It takes a few seconds.

This will be here. That's there. These go over here. That should now be...

Your number 153. Let me show you this. This is a sticky board so that the cards

stick to it. That way everybody gets to see. Here we go. Your number 153. This

is 12 plus 66 is 78 plus 20 is 98 plus 55 is your randomly selected

number 153.

Now, that's not the trick. You see, I actually did it again here as well. This

is 25 plus 50 is...

75, good work. 75 plus 16 is 91, plus 62 is your number 153. In fact, I did it

again here as well. This is 56 plus 22 is 78, plus 65 is 143. That means we

a 10. I programmed that one there too. In fact, over here as well, this is 60

plus 15 is 75.

Thank you. 75 plus 52 is 127. That means we need 26 to create four combinations

of your number 153. Thank you.

But wait, there's more.

You see, this is basic mathematics.

Let's know what a programmer would do, because I didn't just make it add up

down. I also went across, too. 12 plus 25 is 37, plus 56 is 93, plus 60 is 153.

Or this one, 66 plus 50 plus 22 plus 15 is 153. Every single way across, all

down, add up to your randomly selected number, 153.

But there's more. There's more. You see, it doesn't just go across and down. In

fact, it also goes diagonally. 60 plus 22 is 82, plus 16 is 98, plus 55 is 153.

Or even this way. In fact, even the four corners. This one plus this one plus

this one is 153. Or these four in the middle, 153. In fact, there are over 100

combinations of your randomly selected number, 153.

But wait, there's more. There's more.

I used to be a computer programmer. This is just mathematics.

I wanted to do something different.

You see, there's another number on the card on the other side.

What is that number?

Hold it up so everyone can see the number 177.

You see, other magicians have done this kind of number trick before, but not me.

I wanted to do something different.

I wanted to turn it on its head.

That's why every way you look at it now adds up to your second randomly selected

number, 177. That's across, down, diagonally, even the four corners. Every

you look at it add up to your randomly selected number, 177.

little bowl of fruit, right? We've been sitting here the whole time. I want you

to point to any one of those pieces of fruit. It's totally up to you. Which one

do you want?

That one. Tonight, Autumn, when you leave, you're going to be like, wait,

would have happened if I would have changed my mind?

Now's your chance, Autumn. Do you want to change your mind?

No. You want to stick, which one was it?

Autumn, take that lime. I want you to hold it in your hand. You could have

chosen any piece of fruit from over here. And you did. You chose that lime.

Autumn, you are the eyes for the group. You can see that it's just a lime,

right? Nothing funny about it. On every single side, it's just a lime.

I'm going to take the knife. I'm going to cut into this lime, Autumn. I'm going

to cut around the circumference of the lime, Autumn.

Autumn, check it out. I'm going to take that lime.

I'm going to twist it and separate.

Do you see that?

I know.

Autumn, it is a card rolled up perfectly inside of the lime. Here's the really

crazy part. I'm going to unroll that really slowly. Can you take a little

under there?

That is definitely a three, but here's the really weird part, Autumn. You see

it's missing a piece. Do you see that? It's missing a corner.

Guys, that's to prove that it's the same card fully formed from earlier. To

prove it, that corner should actually fit perfectly just like that.

Everybody give Autumn a big hand. Come on.

All right, I have a very interesting wallet.

Many years ago, when I was 19, I had the opportunity to lecture in Japan.

Have you ever seen a wallet quite like that before?

Pretty cool wallet.

So this is a Japanese wallet, and inside is some money.

Doesn't look like much.

Let's also get that.

No surprise, I know, not even a surprise.

All right, we'll get rid of this, and we're going to take one of these pieces

paper. All you have to do is hold the lighter, and you're going to push and

squeeze. It's childproof.

That's going to help us.

Yeah, go ahead and push that, light that.

Hold it up a little bit higher, right about there.

Don't blink, or you'll miss it. Watch.

You know, they say easy come, easy go. That's the way it works with money.

It is shuffled up. You guys can see the cards. They're all different. Make sure

you tell that to the audience at home.

And now I want some people to think of cards. So as the cards go by, you can

all different cards, yes? Would you do me a favor and think of a card?

Yes? And would you also think of a card? You see it there? And remember, all the

cards are different. They're thinking of cards in their heads. They're not

saying a thing. As we go through, just think of that card. Can you see one?

And can you also see one in there? Can you see that card?

If you're thinking of a card, stand up.

Here we go. If you hear your card, please sit down.

But believe it or not, that's not the trick I wanted to show you.

through this deck.

Take out those cards. If you see those cards, take them out. Look through them.

Really look. I think you'll find every one of those cards is gone. But that's

not the trick I wanted to show you.

What would you do if you had a million dollars?

What would you do if you lost it?

Well, keep an eye on the money. Because here is Jason Bishop.

You know, probably the most common question I get asked is, can you make a

million bucks appear? Can you make me a million dollars appear? And the answer

is yes, but the hard part is you've got to first make it disappear from

somewhere else, and that tends to get you in trouble here and there. So we've

asked to have a million bucks on tonight, and we were able to get this.

pretty cool. So we've got a million bucks in cash right over here. My

Kim is going to help me out, so she has to get ready in just a second.

Now, she's not actually allowed to see how we prepare this money to make it

vanish, but she's going to be underneath a special RFID blocking cloth. She

won't be able to see. No electronic device will work underneath that.

Now, money, like a million bucks, isn't really as big as people think. That's

what it is. It is $10 ,100 bills.

This is a special cabinet. Let me explain it. The money is going to go in

It locks in two ways.

First of all, that's the inner forward cabinet.

is the outer rear cabinet.

And although it's kind of heavy, this forward cabinet can go

right up inside, just like that.

The money goes inside of both.

Wow, that'd be like a car right there. Okay.

That's what I'd be left with right there. So there's some locks underneath

All right. From here on out, I can't test it. I can't check it. I can't check

at all. Examine if that's how you want it. That's good?

Okay, cool.

So here's the deal. These are called test conditions. The box has been turned

around, inspected fully. The platform and the box are not near the sides of

stage. That way nobody can run on or off quick.

There's a couple phases to making a million bucks disappear. Phase one.

It's called recon or reconnaissance. My assistant, Kim, has to get a little bit

closer to the money.

Phase two is called the signal.

Two knocks from inside.

Inside.

Both boxes, just like that.

And that is how we make a million bucks disappear, just like that.

Sort of. Because actually, there is a third phase. The third phase is where

guys get to keep the money, actually. So this money is for you guys, right here.
