I'm Dean Cain, and welcome to Masters of Illusion.

Now, you've heard the terms illusion, distraction, and sleight of hand, right?

we'd like to present you a little bit of all of the above.

A smorgasbord of magic, if you will. Are you ready for the feast?

All right.

Now, does the brain ever deceive itself?

I think so. This is a Rubik's Cube.

All right, the object of this popular puzzle is to line up the colors.

But what if the colors themselves change?

Can, say, this...

Orange square?

Be the same color as maybe this brown square?

What do you think?

Oh, really?

You tell me. Look at the two colors.

They look pretty much the same, don't they?

You have been deceived by me.

But can tonight's Masters of Illusion deceive you yet again?

Let's find out.

Right now, let's get started with the unexplainable and the impossible.

Let's go to our audience camera for the quick hands of Chicago's Jibrizy.

And I want to go ahead and show you exactly how I make money as a magician.

Is your brain ready for a challenge?

Well, here is Joshua J.

Okay, so go like this with your hands.

That's good. I'm going to try one of the toughest things I know. I'm going to

mix these cards face up into face down so that you can not only see that those

cards are being mixed.

but you can actually feel that they're being mixed. And in this condition, I'm

going to try and cut to the four aces.

That's the first one.

This is the second one.

The third one I have to deal from the center of the deck looks like that.

So some are up, some are down, some are up, some are down. For this last one,

rather than finding the ace, I'll cause every single card in the deck to

straighten out, every single card except for one.

Go ahead, you take it out, you show it around.

Take a look.

Now,

hold out your hands again.

One time, somebody said to me, yeah, but can you do that with my deck of cards?

And I thought, sure, I can do that with every deck of cards. I can do that with

every deck of cards.

I've ever used in my life. Even the ones in your hands, Jane, turn them

over. That's every card in the deck.

Now, you wouldn't think that you could do a magic trick once you've changed all

the cards in the deck like this because, of course, they're all different.

But we can try one more. Here's what I'll do. I'm going to have you pick a

but I don't want you to look at it. Just keep it face down. I won't look either.

Take it out.

You didn't look at it, yeah?

Nope. All right, I will turn away.

When I turn away, I want you to show the card around. Don't show it to me. Make

sure everybody else sees it, okay?

Go for it.

All right, so you know what the card is, but I don't know what it is. Hold out

your left hand.

That's good.

I'll put it in the deck. Hold on to the cards.

Watch.

Is that it?

Are you serious?

That wasn't it?

All right, we'll have to try something even better. Watch.

I have to make this clear for you.

Completely clear.

I mean completely clear. These cards have disappeared.

Every single card has disappeared. But if you look carefully right here, watch.

Every single card is gone except for one. That's your four.

All right. Up here, we have a board of sitting across two chairs.

This is a step stool.

In a moment, you're going to be sitting here on this board.

Would you do me a favor? Stand up on the step stool and sit right here on the

board. You are wearing those very high heels, so sit back.

And just make sure you're comfortable.

Natasha, I'm going to take away this stool.

Would you do me a favor? Turn your feet towards me.

Head towards the other end. You're fine. Okay.

Great. And scoot down just a little bit.

Perfect. Right there.

I want you to lay your head back.

All the way to the end.

Natasha, close your eyes.

Cross your arms in front of you like this.

I'm going to take this cloth, cover you up.

That way, in case you get uncomfortable, you'll at least be warm.

Natasha, open your eyes for a second and look at me. I want you to take your

hands, put them towards the ceiling like this. Okay, that way, it's like you're

pushing away the sky.

Now close your eyes and take a deep breath.

In and out.

I'm going to say go.

Just lift your feet into the air.

One, two, three, go.

Ready? And let go.

Perfect. Back down.

All right. This time I'm going to say go. You remain in that position.

Ready? Go.

Perfect. Stay like that and hold it.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Do not open your eyes.

Natasha, stay there.

Natasha, say just like that for me, please.

Natasha, you can put your legs down.

Open your eyes.

Put your arms down.

And sit up.

Natasha, turn your legs towards the step stool. Step down and please give

Natasha a big.

Our next performer comes to us from Canada.

Welcome the very impressive magic of the charming Billy Kidd.

Tonight, I'm going to teach you a few things about the pasteboards, the

cards. First of all, when you open up a brand new deck of playing cards, it

comes in a very specific order that we like to call New Deck Order.

And what that means is this.

Two jokers, which for our purposes, we do not need.

Then, you can see we've got the ace through king of spades.

followed by the ace through king of hearts, then you've got the king through

of diamonds, the clubs, and then a poker playing card, which we do not need.

But what I'm going to do is I'm going to take out, let's say, the ace through

ten of spades.

I'm not going to shuffle these cards, but I will leave them here for

safekeeping.

And we will use some nice contrasting cards, let's say the ace through

ten of hearts.

But these cards, we're going to have them shuffled. And maybe this lady right

here with the striped shirt, can you just come up onto the steps?

Give her a little round of applause, yes?

Right there, fine.

And madam, if it's all right, can you give those cards a shuffle? You can

shuffle them however you want. You can give them a shuffle like this, or you

shuffle them like that. That's fine. That's perfect.

Amazing. That's incredible. You're making me a little bit nervous, but I'll

the cards. Thanks very much. Give her a big round of applause.

Now, Miss, when you shuffled the cards, I don't know if you did it on purpose,

but you shuffled them in your own specific order, and I will show you

You guys can see that.

And if you could do me a favor, darling, as I run my fingers over the cards, you

can see them all, yes? Just say stop.

Stop. Right here.

And you stop me on ah.

The four of hearts. I want you to remember this card, but I will make it

by turning it face down like that. All right?

And I will keep your cards for safekeeping right there.

Now, Miss, when you shuffled, you shuffled the five, yes, on the face.

Of course, my five is quite deep down in the middle.

But let's try something.

shuffled. Not only did you shuffle the 5 there, the next card you shuffled to

was an 8.

And over here we have an 8.

After that, you shuffled to an 8, and over here we have an 8.

After the 8, you shuffled to a 10.

Then after the 10, you shuffled to a 9.

Then after the 9, you shuffled to a 3. And then there is that one card that you

stopped me on. Do you remember what that card was?

The 4.

And over here, we have the 4s.

After the 4s, there's the 6s. Then you have the 2s, and of course, there's...

the sevens. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the classic of magic.

things I love most about being a professional magician is being able to

your eyes.

And your minds at the exact same time.

I'll give you an example of what that looks like. A long piece of rope. Your

eyes see a piece of rope. Your brain sees a piece of rope.

One knot.

Your eyes see a knot. Your brain sees a knot.

But if I take that knot, snap my finger, that becomes two knots.

Two becomes three.

Three becomes four. And four becomes... I will shoot you in the face.

Five. Now, that's what your eyes see. That's what your brain sees.

But I'm a magician.

I'm doing my best to fool you.

That knot's not there. That knot's not there. That knot isn't there. Neither is

that knot. It's always been one knot. Now, that your brain is completely

confused and your eyes are confused, I want to tell you, I'm a magician.

It's my job to fool your eyes and your mind at the exact same time. This is

actually just a loop of rope.

This is two loops of rope. Three, four, and five loops of rope.

And that's what it's like to fool your eyes and minds as a magician. Thank you.
