Hi everybody, I'm Dean Cain and welcome
to Masters of Illusion. Now you're about

to meet the masters who prove that the
hand is quicker than the eye.

And you can't always take what you see
as fact.

Are you ready to witness the impossible?

What do you see here?

The portrait of a Bengal tiger?

Maybe not.

As in life, a picture is composed of
many elements.

The whole is the sum of its parts.

Look closely. This composition is
actually made up of hundreds of tiny

photographs.

Their brain has transposed them into a
recognizable object.

So beware, because tonight's illusions
have been designed to lead you astray.

Now, let's watch one of the great
performers as he presents a modern

illusion. Welcome the always amazing
Jonathan Hendrick.

You never know where a performer gets
his inspiration.

Ideas for illusions come from many
different places.

Well, this next one was generated by his
infant son.

My name is Eric.

My wife and I have a baby now, so clap
for that.

That's hard.

So hard.

Okay,

he's not a baby. He's almost four years
old.

I've been milking it for four years. So
we're practicing the alphabet. We're

teaching him how to read, teaching him
simple letters. So we actually got one

those alphabet flashcard decks.

There's a different letter on every
card.

P, that's his favorite activity.

A bunch of different letters all
throughout the deck. These are great for

helping toddlers learn how to read.
We're going to try a quick experiment

the flashcard deck. You, sir, what is
your name?

Jeff. Jeff. Give it up for Jeff as he
joins me on stage.

Come on up, Jeff. I need your help.

Thank you.

You're welcome. Excellent. Jeff, do you
have kids?

Nope. No kids. Do you know how to read?

Read what?

All right.

We will find out.

Tell me when to stop.

Right there. All right, Jeff.

Hold on to the letter you stopped me at.
Show everybody in the audience. Look at

it yourself.

Memorize that letter.

Hide it from my view.

Here's what you're going to do with your
letter. You're going to stick it into

the deck facing the wrong direction.
You're going to stick it in facing

down, as we call it. Then you're going
to shuffle face up into face down.

just going to mix up the cards much like
a four -year -old would mix the cards.

Make sense? Just shuffle those cards.
Shuffle yours in there.

Doesn't matter anyway.

So with Demetri, we have him pick one
card, lose it into the deck, then we

on to other activities.

And Dimitri loves to play with duct
tape.

Like father, like son.

All right, Jeff, are you done shuffling?
Excellent. I'm going to trade you tape

for card.

Hold on to that tape. Don't let it
tangle or stick on itself.

I'm going to hide all the cards. Now we
have all cards hidden facing inward. Now

what I want you to do with that tape,
sticky side facing the audience, I want

you to hold it up with both hands about
neck height. Now what I want you to do,

I'll take this end. You take one step to
your left. Hold it with your right

hand. Perfect.

Dimitri picks a card. We move on to play
with tape. We come back to the cards.

When Dimitri sees his card, he starts to
giggle. I expect you to do the same,

Jeff. Okay.

Boom. Why?

No, that's not your card. Your letter.
Okay.

Hold on. It doesn't always work the
first time. O.

Yo.

No, O either. Okay. Hold on.

Boom.

Wait. Now you're spelling.

Did you shuffle?

You shuffled, right? Okay.

You know what? We'll speed up the
process. Here we go.

Did you pick the F?

I did.

Is he laughing out loud?

Next up, amazing is the only way to
describe Nathan's bad.

A man who constantly hears voices in his
head, and he always makes a good

impression. Here is Nathan Phan.

Excellent. I'd like to address
something.

You may notice there's a slight
discrepancy between the way that I look

way that I sound, so I'll address it
now. The answer is yes, I really am

Vietnamese. Good. Moving on.

The next part of the... I know a lot of
you probably aren't used to hearing

really thick Vietnamese accents.

This is a regional dialect from the
northwestern part of Vietnam called

which is where I'm from.

Glasgow's in Scotland, not Vietnam, you
guys.

I don't know. One guy was like, I'm with
you. I knew that.

But I didn't get picked on while I was
growing up in Scotland because I

developed a very unique skill in
addition to magic.

I could do vocal mimicry. I could sound
like my classmates, people I saw on TV.

In fact, I brought with me...

Over four dozen of my favorite voices to
do so I need someone who knows pop

culture as well as me Someone who's
going to be able to know what these

sound like and let's say oh my goodness.

you sir. Just someone flailing his arm

Here's what you're going to do, okay?

I'm going to go through these, all
right? And when you see one that you

recognize, go ahead and call out stop
anytime you'd like.

going, all right? I want you to do not

attempt to figure out, oh, this one, you

to cover my eyes. Hi, can you help me

out? Give me a favor. Cover my eyes for

you, everyone get it. Come on. This is,
come on. There we go. Everyone cover my,

cover my eyes. Yeah?

Everyone? Good.

Excellent. Did everyone get to see the,

In order to do this, we actually need
someone from the audience. Someone that

likes to drink wine.

That is, likes wine a bit, not likes
wine for breakfast.

Yeah. And looking at this lot here, I
think we're kind of spoilt for choice,

actually. Yes, we are.

Yeah. What about that wee lass down
there?

Yeah. She looks like she enjoys a stiff
drink, doesn't she? I know.

I've seen her on park benches shouting
at strangers.

Yeah. You know what?

I actually think that she's probably
more of a beer kind of girl. Beer girl.

Yeah, she's a beer girl. We do need
someone who's into wine.

I tell you what, the girl right there,
do you mind joining us? Come on, jump up

here. Give her a nice hand as she makes
her way to the front of the stage.

Hiya. What's your name?

Erica. Erica. Erica.

I want you to be the taste buds for the
entire audience and everybody who is

watching this at home. I'm going to open
the top of this bottle right here.

We're going to taste the water inside
that bottle, have a sip of it. If it's

water, say it's water, because I don't
want people to...

Have a sip of the liquid inside that
bottle and confirm for everybody that

is in fact just pure water, yeah? Water.

No traces of alcohol in that. No. Erica,
we want you to hold the glass by the

stem right here.

That's perfect. Hold it right there.
That's great. I want to take the bottle

back and break it next to my microphone
so you can all hear this cracking open

right here.

Erica, this is water that you've tasted
and verified with your own lips. If this

works, it will be a miracle.

Watch as the water changes in midair.

Thanks for the applause, but I know
there are some doubting people out there

that just think this is one of those
sort of chemical reaction things where

water has just changed colour. But that
is not so.

Smell the newly transformed liquid.

You see, those molecules have
transformed completely, haven't they?

smells different, doesn't it? Smells
like wine.

Smells like wine. Now, have a taste of
the newly transformed liquid.

Confirm for us that that is in fact real
cheap red wine.

Water into wine.

And you can take that back to your
seats, share it there with your brethren

I think, Barry, I think everybody seemed

think we sort of left her out. You

know, normally we wouldn't be allowed to
