brain can be misled. Meet the masters of illusion.

Can we create the illusion of reality?

Is it the nature of the brain to make the unreal real?

After all, that is the purpose of the movies we love and the paintings we

cherish, to take us away.

Well, look at the dynamic of this artwork.

It can actually take us between these temple walls, down streets that only

in our imagination.

I'm Dean Cain, and our first performer inhabits a world that is entirely his

It uses three metal cups, three yellow balls, and three lovely ladies from the

audience. Do I have any volunteers?

How about the two in the middle right there and the young lady over here on

end? Would you three please join me? How about some encouragement for my three

volunteers?

Ladies and gentlemen, My three volunteers. Please face the audience.

Please join me behind the table here.

I would like each of you to please pick up a cup and look inside.

Please show everyone the cup is empty and solid.

Please feel inside of the cup and please tap the bottom of the cup. It's empty

and solid.

Then please put the cup down and pick up a yellow ball.

Please hold it in the air like this and show everyone it is what it appears to

be, a pom -pom made out of yarn. Please put the ball on the table and watch my

hands. I'll warm up my fingers. This is how I warm up my fingers. If you'd like

to try that, put your hands like this and bend one finger at a time and then

speed them up.

It works pretty well. This finger comes off, but it always comes back. I never

had one here. Want to see the other side? Look, no finger. Doesn't that look

real? It's a trick, but it looks real.

I also use a marker as a magic wand.

It works just as well, and it's easier to carry. I call it a magic marker.

A magic marker, three yellow balls, and three metal cups. Lovely young ladies,

please turn the cups upside down. And then, please put a ball on top of each

cup. Thank you.

Please lift the cup like this and look inside, and then please set it down and

watch closely.

Thank you. Please watch the marker and this yellow ball. This yellow ball will

disappear with the help of the marker. Just a spin and a tap, and it's gone.

This ball disappears just as fast. See?

Oop, I forgot to spin.

You've got to have a spin,

then a tap.

Gone. The last one without a spin, just a tap.

Gone. Please lift the cups and notice the balls are back under the cups.

Now it's time for the amazing part. Please look inside of the cup. Please

inside of the cup. And then please cover the ball once again.
