the terrible destruction plaguing our planet.

She sends five magic rings to five special young people.

From North America, Wheeler, with the power of fire.

From the Soviet Union, Linka, with the power of wind.

From Asia, Gi, with the power of water.

And from South America, Ma-Ti, with the power of heart.

When the five powers combine

they summon Earth's greatest champion, Captain Planet!

(all) ‘Go, Planet!’

(Captain Planet) The power is yours!

[instrumental music]

(Gaia) ‘Planeteers, to the crystal chamber.’

We have another eco-emergency.

‘This is Venice, Italy.’

(Wheeler) ‘That's Venice? It looks like a ghost town. '

Gone. The whole place is empty.

‘But the garbage in the streets and canals'

And those beautiful Renaissance structures-

All the filth has resulted in a runaway number of rats

‘and they're spreading disease.’

Planeteers, we've got to track down Skumm

and find out what he's up to.
