So here's the story.

In 1877, the wellington county poorhouse

Was built for those who fell victim to poverty

Or otherwise found themselves on the fringes of society.

The figurehead of every poorhouse was the live-in

Caretaker and nurse known as the matron.

And with 35 years of service,

Margaret griffin was the longest running matron who's said

To still keep a watchful eye over the hospital wing.

From the day the doors opened

The poorhouse operated at maximum capacity.

Occupants were forced to share overcrowded dorms

Resulting in illness and violence.

The men's dorm was the most notorious

With an aggressive energy that lingers to this day.

In the 79 years the building operated,

Over 600 residents passed away

With their corpses scattered around the property.

And the tunnels where these forgotten souls were

Stored before burial still echoes with their memories.

You can almost hear them now.

As we head into our investigation tonight,

We'll search for the ghosts of these forgotten souls,

Margaret griffin and the angry shadow men.

All of these spirits lead us to the wellington county poorhouse

Located on the outskirts of--

For years I used to drive by with my grandmother

In the car and she would always say,

"don't let me end up in that poorhouse."

It was called the poorhouse because everybody was poor.

So when I walked into the building

In 1975 to start my first day,

I knew that there were spirits there.

I think there's ghosts in the wellington county museum.

The wellington county museum is

Known as the haunted capital of canada.

Really can feel something there watching you.

Luke and matthew should be open to anything

But they might get a surprise or two.

[matthew] wow! It's beautiful. But I feel like

There's something dark hiding inside there.

My name is jade hassoune and you might know me from

The hit series shadow hunters.

I have lots of experiences with the supernatural

And ghosts but never did I see anything with my eyes.

Matthew and I are kindred spirits.

Luke is like... Slay.

I want the ultimate proof that ghosts are actually real.

However, I made a pact with everything supernatural

And I basically said,

"I do not want to see or hear anything."

I also made a pact with spiders.

And it actually worked.

I would say that I'm a supernatural connoisseur.

Our first hotspot for investigation are

The tunnels of the wellington county poorhouse

Located in the basement.

[soft tense music]

I'm so mad at you guys right now.

Oh, this is nasty.

-[screams] -[matthew] oh jesus!

So the hallway we're in leads to this chamber.

What is this room though?

Oh, oh, I love this.

I'm freaked out. Why is this room here?

[luke] this is fabulous.

-Matthew get in. -Okay wait.

There's ashes in here.

[matthew] is there?

You're so brave.

You need to wash your hands when we get out of here.

What did it smell like?

-Um, metal, rust. -[matthew] yeah?

You've got to smell and perhaps taste whatever you find.

-You know what's so crazy? -What?

If I was gonna bet money on what is in there,

It's probably metal rust.

Allegedly, deceased residents were stored before burial down

Here and its said that hundreds of bodies scoured the property.

[jade] so wait, the bodies were like, in here?

-[matthew] yeah. -[jade gasps]

There's definitely something behind here.

I've seen enough scary movies to know there's always false walls.

Especi-- ah! [laughing]

Oh my god, tetanus!

[matthew] visitors and staff get the feeling of being watched.

They hear noises down here.

We're going to see if we can't lure

These forgotten souls out for ourselves.

[jade] oh, my god, I have chills.

[suspenseful music]

To the forgotten souls of the wellington county house,

If there is anyone here who wishes to make

Your presence known, make a noise.

[matthew] an sls camera is a tool used

To catch the apparition of a ghost.

I did not expect us to have this, like, technology.

This scary room for sure has something in it.

The paranormal's very present.

Our next hotspot for investigation

Is the hospital wing located on the second floor.

[jade] why is this giant room empty?

-Wow. -[eerie music]

[matthew] what are you feeling?

What are the vibes you're picking up in this space?

[jade] um, sort of like ritual space. I don't know.

[matthew] it's definitely giving like asylum, like--

It's giving arts and crafts room.

[matthew] where did you do your arts and crafts?

There's nothing cool about the room.

There are boarded up windows.

It's a really eerie freaky energy.

It just doesn't match the room.

[luke] there's just like not the vibe in here, you know.

This room is creepier, almost creepier

-Than the basement. -[matthew] I know.

Like why am I freaked out

By this random white empty room?

The hospital wing is where margaret spent most of

Her time in her 35 years as matron of wellington.

One of margaret's main responsibilities was caring

For terminal patients between the doctor's weekly visits.

Which is when she gained the reputation of being stern

With staff and patients alike.

Her spirit has been seen standing in this doorway.

Uhhh-ah. I just got chills.

One morning I just happened to come in at seven

And I turned around and looked.

Margaret was standing there,

Just standing there staring at me.

How would you communicate with a ghost if you wanted to?

A spirit board is a board used to communicate with the dead.

We're going to call upon margaret tonight.

We want to know why she's still here.

Our final hotspot for investigation is

The men's dormitory located on the third floor.

For the museum which is what this building operates as today.

But this room is actually said to be the most

Haunted room in canada.

This room saw the most overcrowding and violence in

The years the poorhouse operated.

You say scariest room and it's this.

With the little dog.

Staff report seeing aggressive shadow men in this room.

Are these the shadows of the men who died here?

These shadows are said to be drawn to sources of light.

So, we are going to try and coax these shadows out here

This is known as the flux prism.

To the shadow figures that are known to reside in this dorm,

Me and you are gonna seduce the ghosts with our shadows.

The tunnels, is the figure we caught on the sls camera.

It was simply four dots and a dream.

I've heard when people come face to face with

The afterlife they're not able to accept it.

So I understand that that's what you're going through.
