A home with a heart-shaped driveway

Quickly became the house of heartbreak,

Known infamously now as castle kilbride.

[ominous instrumental playing]

Castle kilbride was built in 1877

For entrepreneur and politician james livingston.

James built this home as a love letter to his wife,

Complete with a heart-shaped pathway leading to the home.

He had the picture-perfect life as a wealthy man,

Until sadly, and supposedly,

He saw half of his children pass away within the home.

Castle kilbride saw many children grow

Until an accident occurred so grim

That it still echoes through the town today.

Inheriting castles doesn't come cheap,

And the financial burden of the property

Forced the last owner to auction off

All of the castle's furniture.

And the castle.

As we head into our investigation tonight,

We'll search for the ghosts of james livingston,

-A child, and the granddaughter. -[child laughing]

All of these spirits lead us to the once-magnificent estate

Of castle kilbride, nestled deep within the pine forest of...

My name is rj johnston, and among other things,

I'm one of the guides here at castle kilbride.

Well, james livingston was born in kilbride, scotland.

He moved out here when he was 16.

By 19, he became the manager of a flax mill.

By 1877, he had enough money to build castle kilbride.

When you step into castle kilbride,

You are taking a step back in time.

The castle just seemed as--

To have live-in servants, who used separate stairs.

And that was the only thing I witnessed.

The doll going off was definitely a turn of events.
