[The Land of Warriors]

[Adapted from Tang Jia San Shao's novel "Soul Land"]

[Episode 38]

Right ahead is the Seahorse Sacred Pillar.

The Seahorse Sacred Pillar is one of Sea God Island's seven sacred pillars.

Sea God disseminates his will using the pillars.

You lot will receive the test question and Sea God's guidance from the pillar.

I sense a Titled Douluo.

Lord Seahorse, foreign land Soul Masters have come to take the test.

Traverse the sea among the sea to reach the Seahorse Sacred Pillar.

Only then are you qualified to take the test.

Let us move across the sea.

Xiao Wu, let's go.

I can't wait.

This aura...

What was that just now?

It's a treasure of mine.

It has a familiar aura that is beyond powerful.

Similar to that of the sacred pillar.

Everyone,

since you're able to get here, it means you can take Sea God's test.

However, I first have to tell you about the rules for determining the levels before the test.

Sea God's test is given based on levels.

The difficulty of the test differs according to your level.

Just like the color of the soul ring.

From the lowest to the highest, there are White Test, Yellow Test,

Purple Test, Black Test, and the topmost Red Test.

The test subject will appear on the light screen within the Sacred Pillar.

Only the test participants and examiner get to see it.

I am the examiner.

You will approach the Sacred Pillar and place one hand on it.

It will then lead you all into the Ruins.

Brother San, Seahorse Douluo is right.

I sense that the blue light aura is similar to your Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud.

I got the feeling, too.

In the name of the Sea God, I wish to reaffirm this.

Are you ready to take Sea God's test?

The rating of levels will begin now.

Where are we?

The inside of the Seahorse Sacred Pillar?

Are we being tested together?

The Ruins were created in this world using a ray of divine light from the god.

Nothing in this world gets past the god.

You will find out about your true selves within the Ruins

and receive the god's critique and your test rank.

I'll go first.

Dai Mubai. As the prince of Star Luo Empire,

you find yourself in a brutal struggle yet are never blinded by power.

You value friendship and loyalty, brave and intelligent.

The Seven Devils are one. We live and die together.

No one can take Xiao Wu away from us!

Zhuqing, I will take care of everything.

My brother and your sister will not die.

With your beloved, you are willing to respect her wishes, while working together.

My hope is that we can respect our inner desires and do what we want.

But everything I wish to do is related to you.

Zhuqing, I'll do as you wish if you win.

But if you want us to part ways,

I won't agree.

When faced with a life-and-death situation, you bravely maintained your stance.

Father, I've never regretted my decision.

Even if I were to choose again, I would not fight with my kin.

White Tiger Annihilation Kill!

You work tirelessly for your dream.

But the road ahead is long, filled with obstacles.

May you never lose your original intention.

Dai Mubai.

Black Test, six trials.

Did he get two more trials than me before?

Senior, what does Black Test, six trials mean?

Could you explain it to us?

The more trials there is, the harder the difficulty.

Black Test six trials is the hardest one in the black test.

You will need to pass six trials in the Black Test rating.

In the last century, the Black Test has only appeared a total of 31 times.

Only seven passed.

And those seven are the current protectors of the seven Sacred Pillars.

I am one of them.

Does that mean passing the Black Test six trials

equates to having the same power as a sacred pillar protector?

When will the test begin?

The time period for Land Soul Masters taking the Black Test

is one completion every year.

If you cannot accomplish it, the next trial will not appear.

If you miss the deadline or neglect it,

the Sea God's mark imprinted in your forehead will explode,

causing the participant to immediately perish.

Hence, there have never been any failed Black Test participants.

There are only successful participants or dead ones.

A level 60 wanting to pass a Black Test in six trials is almost impossible.

Thus, it's not too late for you to turn back now.

Otherwise, if another Black Test is given,

the rest of you will end up like him, dead.

Senior, from what I know, the people of Sea God Island have to take the test when they turn 18.

Does that mean you were stronger than Mubai now when you were only 18 years old?

I wasn't as strong as him at 18.

I wasn't even a level 40.

But Sea God gave the island's Soul Masters

a 10-year limit to accomplish one Black Test trial.

Even so, I barely made it through my Black Test four trials.

At the time, my last assessment was to survive for two hours in a school of Demon Soul Great White Sharks

that exist outside of the island's guardian beasts.

School of Demon Soul Great White Shark?

I see why it is a brush with death.

Why don't you give it some more thought?

No need. It's so thrilling, exactly what we need.

The reason we came is to take the test.

If the test were too easy, the trip would've been futile.

We've accomplished many impossible tasks.

There's no reason why we can't create another miracle.

Please assign me a test, Sea God.

Zhu Zhuqing. Born into Star Luo nobility.

Has a cold appearance yet the heart burns like the sun.

Your soul bone wasn't destroyed in vain.

We will avenge you.

Did we become stronger just to survive by killing our kin?

Your Majesty, please spare Zhu Zhuyun and Dai Weisi.

When faced with a crisis, you did not surrender to fate but remained tenacious.

I will never impose the things I hate onto other people.

Real strength is not eliminating all threats.

It's by becoming indestructible ourselves.

Then, we can not only protect ourselves but also safeguard others.

However, your desire to become stronger is too great.

Is wanting to protect myself wrong?

Why do you wish to become stronger?

To be free.

The moment I was born, I was made your fiance.

Is the point of my life just being Dai Mubai's spouse?

Then who is Zhu Zhuqing supposed to be? Has anyone asked me what I wanted?

I don't want you to sacrifice yourself for my sake.

Likewise, I don't want to sacrifice myself for your sake.

Perhaps it's a selfish act on my part. But this is the only life I have.

I don't care what other people might think.

You will understand one day.

That becoming stronger doesn't necessarily mean you are free.

Obsession with power makes one perverse.

Zhu Zhuqing. Black Test, five trials.

Another Black Test assessment.

Zhu Zhuqing,

Oscar's sense of normalcy is precisely what you need.

Was that a compliment for me?

Sea God, I am ready.

Oscar. As a Food Branch Soul Master without attacking power,

you did not let that stop you.

I know your feelings for Rongrong are sincere.

But right now, you're not the one who can protect her.

If I don't become stronger, I have no right to stay by Rongrong's side.

I must become a victor who can stand up to Battle Soul Masters.

Only then will I be able to protect you.

To be able to protect your loved one,

you ventured into the world, braving challenges alone.

At last, you came out of it alive and broke through your limitations.

Goodbye, Tempest Wolf.

Rongrong, I made it.

When faced with a difficult decision, you were resolute.

You did not forsake your ideals for your own selfish desire.

Xiao San wants to establish the Tang Sect. So, he really needs your help.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan needs you, too.

I choose Tang Sect.

You do not become complacent during the good times, nor give up easily despite adversity.

Being calm and collected. That's the key to success.

Oscar. Black Test, six trials.

That's great! I am rated the same as Boss Dai.

We're both taking the Black Test six trials.

- Are you that excited about the Black Test six trials? - Of course.

Sea God assigns the test based on the comprehensive quality of the person being assessed.

I'm merely a Food Branch Soul Master and I was given the Black Test six trials.

That must mean I have a lot of potential.

Sea God! From now on, I am a devout follower of Sea God.

Please assign me my test.

Ma Hongjun. Is it uncomfortable being in the light?

What?

This is the Shrek Academy. Who said you could be so audacious?

You regard evil as the greatest enemy. A straightforward person.

When you come across injustice, you always step forward to help the weak.

It's not to be missed, people! [Wretched Trio]

Experience the Wretched Trio's appeal!

Go on home. Myles is dead.

No one will enslave you guys again.

I don't get it.

My martial soul is evil fire, and a top-notch phoenix martial soul at that.

But why couldn't I beat Boss Dai and Brother San?

You are envious of your friends' innate talent.

You want all eyes to be on you, yet you do not realize the weight of the crown.

Boss Dai, your emperor father seems to be out for blood.

I wasn't mistaken.

Your smile is just as I remembered.

Birds of a feather!

You are jealous of other people finding love.

You brood over being alone, but you don't realize that love begets love.

Treat others with sincerity to get a sincere response.

Are you okay?

Ma Hongjun. Black Test, six trials.

Sea God, please give me a chance.

Tribe of Agility's Bai Chenxiang.

You are not like the rest.

That's right.

I am much weaker compared to them.

The Sea God's test is not child's play.

It's not too late for you to turn back.

I will deliver you safely from the island.

I know I am not qualified to be here.

But I wish to live up to my companions' trust in me...

and not waste the effort it took to get this far.

Even if I'm incomparable in strength, I still wish to overcome my own limits.

Everything becomes clear in the heart.

Only by accepting yourself, not self-abased and self-conscious,

will you be qualified to take the test.

Are you confident in yourself?

Be it luck or true ability,

since you made it here, it means you are qualified.

As you wish.

Bai Chenxiang. Though arrogant, you were not afraid to self-reflect.

You do not leave a person in need.

Why are you still here?

The Tribe of Agility will not leave a comrade behind.

Get him out of here. I will lure them away.

Be careful.

May your will be unyielding, strengthened through tribulations.

Bai Chenxiang. Yellow Test, one trial.

That's more like the usual Sea God Island standard.

So, this is a god's assessment of my strength.

Xiang Xiang, not even a god can judge you.

Only you yourself can.

With your ability, it won't be any easier taking on a Yellow Test.

I understand.

I'm prepared. I can take the test any time.

Xiang Xiang, why are you looking at me like that?

When I lost to you, I kept thinking of how to get better.

Nevertheless, I was unwilling to accept my true strength.

Today is the perfect chance. Let's go again.

I'd like to see how much I've improved.

No, no, no. I'm not fighting you.

Her trial for the Yellow Test is to withstand your attacks for an hour.

I'm ready. If you really want what's best for me,

then make sure you don't hold back.

Xiang Xiang, brace yourself.

This is my first soul skill: Phoenix Fire Wire.

First soul skill: Delusion.

Phoenix Meteor Shower!

Again!

That's good. One hour is up.

Xiang Xiang!

Xiang Xiang, you made it.

Also, don't ever doubt yourself again.

Thank you for treating me as an equal.

An equal?

Fatty, step aside and figure it out.

It's my time now. Waiting around is only making me more nervous.

All the best.

Almighty Sea God, please assign me the Black Test, six trials.

Black Test six trials.

Young Lady, although you come from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan,

you are only a Support Branch Soul Master.

Let's not be too greedy.

Ning Rongrong. Through training, you got rid of your arrogance.

You remained calm in the face of adversity, stepping up to the plate.

Right now, the most important task is to get the wounded settled.

Those who are seriously wounded will be treated first with the resources we have.

Do your best. We must keep them alive.

Put the less-injured in Zone C.

They can take what they need and look after one another.

Our Rongrong is looking more like the successor.

You respect your loved one's decision,

and your commitment to love is unwavering.

What you've decided upon, I won't stop you from doing it.

Make sure you come back safely.

I'm not going to be protected forever.

Like you, I am working hard, too.

At last, you got rid of the limitations of the support branch

and created your own way of advancements.

Again!

Use defense as offense. Remain calm and cautious.

Retreat to advance, and you'll suddenly see the light.

[Sea God Douluo, Supreme Elder of Sea God Island]

So, that person is you.

Ning Rongrong. Ultimate Test, seven trials.

Senior, does that mean the pressure on me is bigger than that of the Black Test?

Young Lady, it is an honor for me to be your examiner.

Whatever you may need on the island, feel free to let me know.

I will do my best to get it done.

I don't understand. What do you mean by that?

Once you pass all the trials, you will know.

I'm looking forward to your performance.

Lord Seahorse. She and I are only one trial apart.

How come the difference is so big?

Unlike the Black Test, the last time someone was given the Ultimate Test,

it was for the island's Supreme Elder.

So, young lady, if you pass this ultimate ranking assessment,

you will become the Supreme Elder's successor,

which is to say, the future handler of Sea God Island.

Rongrong, this is the first time

for me to think that your identity as Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's successor pales in comparison.

Sounds like the Ultimate Test seven trials

is a lot harder than the Black Test six trials.

Not necessarily.

Although the difficulty of the Ultimate Test seven trials

is a few ranks higher than the Black Test six trials,

each time the Ultimate Test appears,

it heralds the appearance of a great Soul Master

who can complete it as well as succeed in the position of the Supreme Elder.

So, no matter how hard it is, they will definitely succeed.

Did you hear that?

You'll be doing my bidding next time.

Not fair. That's just not fair.

I'd like to take the Ultimate Test seven trials, too.

The light of Sea God will only give you one chance.

Senior, let us continue.

Why did we suddenly come out?

Where are Brother San and Xiao Wu?

Looks like they'll be coming out after a while.

Will there be any danger inside?

We should go back and check.

Don't do anything rash.

I need you to get us back inside.

Entry is granted by the Sea God.

It's also her wish to remove you. Other people don't get to decide.

We don't care about the Sea God.

All we know is that Brother San and Xiao Wu are in there waiting for our help.

It's my first time coming across this situation, too.

Please stay calm and wait here.

Sorry, Senior. Our friends are still in there.

We can't just sit and wait.

- Brother San! - Xiao Wu.

- Xiao San. - Xiao San.

Could it be the Ultimate Test again?

Xiao Wu. Ultimate Test, one trial.

Your trial is to accompany Tang San in completing his assessment.

That's great. We can fight side by side again.

Yes, we're going to fight side by side again.

Senior, the red light is for the Ultimate Test.

So what is this golden light for?

Also, about Xiao Wu.

Why is she assigned the Ultimate Test one trial?

There's no need to ask him.

Since the formation of Sea God Island,

this is the first time such a condition has happened.

What you need to go through is not the Ultimate Test, nine trials.

It's the Sea God nine trials.

I failed to carry out your will.

I deserve to be punished.

It's not your fault.

Just like you,

it's my first time coming across such a situation.

Young man, I've waited more than 100 years.

Finally, you've come.

You are from the Clear Sky Clan.

Who is Tang Chen to you?

He was my great-grandfather.

How fast time flies.

His great-grandson has grown so big.

Who would've thought?

The person I've been waiting for is actually his great-grandson.

I am Tang San. Happy to meet you, Senior.

Tang San, remember this.

From now on, you will not bow in courtesy to anyone on Sea God Island.

Me included.

Relay my orders.

Before these eight individuals complete the Sea God's assessments,

they are esteemed guests of the island.

No one shall offend or neglect them.

Aside from directly assisting in the trials,

they must do all they can to satisfy their requests.

Later, get them settled in the mayor of Seahorse City's residence.

Will do.

I trust you will pass the Sea God's assessment.

What if I fail?

After all, this is a test that has never appeared before.

You can't fail.

Your test is tied to Sea God Island's existence.

If you fail, the outcome

will be more terrifying than your own death.

The Supreme Elder showed up in person.

Your assessment must be more incredible than Rongrong's.

Didn't you hear the Supreme Elder?

Thanks to Brother San, we are now important guests of the island.

Esteemed guests, please come with me.

Okay. Let's go.

Child, get up.

It's okay not to receive the Angel Test.

I will help you accomplish what you want.

You are right.

Xiao Xue!

Since I did not receive the Angel Test,

then there's no reason to worship you like a god.

Very good.

Only in this state do you deserve to receive my test.

Has your heart calmed down?

Mother! Mother! My martial soul has awakened!

Guards! Take her away.

Mother, what did I do wrong?

Why are you treating me like this?

Mother, don't take Xiao Xue away.

Xiao Xue will be good.

I promise I will train hard.

Don't forget why I sent you to the Heaven Dou royals.

Next time, without my summon,

you aren't allowed to come here.

Yes, I am a monster.

Because inside my body flows the blood of a cold-blooded beast.

Although I despise her...

The poison in His Majesty has reached the bone marrow.

His days are numbered.

It seems like I'm becoming more and more like her.

So, Tang Yin is Tang San?

I am sincerely inviting you to join my camp.

I will give you a proper burial.

As well as forever remember you.

From the moment you treated me like a pawn,

I've decided to serve only myself.

From this moment on, I, Qian Renxue, don't have a mother!

Your Majesty.

Your inner self has much unfulfilled affection

and hatred that could not be realized.

You need to learn to let all these go.

Let it go?

No.

The hatred is what's going to make me stronger.

Because they don't deserve to be loved nor despised.

The power you possess can help you overcome all fears.

They will ultimately bow down to the miracle you created.

How do you feel?

The Angel nine trials.

It's nine trials.

The nine trials countless chiefs of the Elder Hall had waited for has finally appeared.

So what if you chose Xiao Xue?

Qian Daoliu, it's your son who brought upon my downfall.

Sooner or later, I will destroy the Angel foundation.

Once I complete the last step,

let's see who else can stop me.

I never thought the person who generations of Douluo Hall masters had waited for was actually you.

Grandpa, what does this mean?

If eight trials appear on the light screen before you,

then you will be the next leader of Martial Soul Hall.

However, there are actually nine trials that appeared before you.

Xiao Xue, from this moment on, you will be working on completing the Angel nine trials assessment

in the foreseeable future.

I will be right here with you.

Once you complete the nine trials,

no one in the whole Douluo Continent will be your match.

There will come a day when I reclaim what belongs to me.

♫ Facing the sea ♫

This Sea God Island is huge.

There are little cities like this dotted across the island.

Brother San.

That wasn't very nice of you.

How did you not tell us about this important information?

Perhaps that disciple of mine never expected we'd be able to live here either.

Esteemed guests.

As per the Seahorse Douluo's orders, I'm here to take you all to the forbidden zone.

Why are we going there?

That is the venue for your first trial.

Seahorse Douluo suggested you all check it out first.

Does that mean our first trials are the same?

Cut across the light of Sea God.

Such a beautiful place is the forbidden zone?

Yes.

The hill on the island is the Sea God Hill.

The Sea God Temple that worships the Sea God

is the only structure found on the top of Sea God Hill.

This little island is the actual Sea God Island.

It's also known as the island within the island.

Take a look.

Those are the stairs leading up to the island.

And that is where you have to pass the trial.

There is a total of 1,001 steps.

Only through the Sea God, island protectors who received a test above Purple rank

has the right to go up the stairs and enter the Sea God Temple to pay respect.

Otherwise, the light of Sea God will block the way.

Above Purple rank?

Then Xiang Xiang...

♫ Braving the wind and waves ♫

Fatty is right.

Not even a god can simply judge me.

I'd like to give it a go with the rest of you.

Until I can go no further.

Okay.

We'll give it a go then.

Tang San.

Why did you come to Sea God Island?

Because the person I love is beside me.

Because behind me, there are my friends who trust in me.

Because too many innocent people fell to the evil that is Martial Soul Hall.

To fight against Martial Soul Hall,

I tried every possible way to become stronger.

I want to have the ability to disperse the fumes

and give peace and harmony back to the people,

restore the balance between humans and soul beasts.

Everything in this world has its place.

The Sea God's test will not be easy.

Is everyone ready?

Needless to say.

When have we ever taken the easy path?

If the sea lies ahead, we'll cross it.

If a mountain lies ahead, we'll climb over it!

That's right. We are already here.

Then, guys, let's get going!
