MRI and CT confirm
no spinal injury.

[relieved sigh]

The doctors think that his
neurological symptoms

are due to swelling

but we have to wait for them
to resolve to know for sure.

- How long will that take?
- Could be days.

but we need the swelling to
come down to know for sure.

because this ankle looks broken.

- We gotta teach Trev
how to shift gears.

I should've been
the one driving.

likes extreme sports.

- Leenah. We talked about this

when you got hurt sneaking into
the crew house for a concert.

You can't be doing
stupid reckless stuff

[Colton] Dude, that looks
like SpaghettiOs on a slinky.

- Checking for
subcutaneous air leaking

from the lungs under the skin.

- It would sound kind
of like Rice Krispies

when you press on it.

The air gets trapped in
little bubbles.

My chest doesn't hurt

but there's this one really
big stick I can't get out.

- You should never pull out
an impaled object.

It could be plugging a bleed.

And that is not a stick,
that is your ulna.

This is an open fracture.

- Oh, God.
- Dude, that's your bone.

That's sick. Can I touch it?

- So, this doesn't have to be
an official thing or whatever?

Like, you can just fix him
like you did with my hand?

If this goes through SkyMed
they'll call our parents

and that isn't our bike.

We took it from
my neighbor's garage.

going to find out eventually

and this is a lot worse
than a cut on a hand.

Hayley, can you handle the rest?

I promised Leenah's mom
I'd keep an eye on her

with stuff like this.

- They're both stable.

to the plane on the trailer.

so that he could breathe.

that would be a hemothorax.

He'd need a chest tube.

do a chest tube?

Except for that one time
there was a bomb on the plane.

It's our job
to stabilize patients

until they get to a hospital,

so I put a three-sided
dressing on it

to let the air
and blood drain out.

I've also used duct tape before,
that works too.

- Yo, your job is sick.

I think I might
want to be a nurse.

What else can you teach me?

- Come on, Crystal,
it wasn't that bad.

- Leenah. You stole a dirt bike
and you hurt two people.

And you could've
gotten hurt too, Leenah.

- Trev's older brother

got kicked out by his
parents for doing drugs.

and Colton and Trev

wanted to go hang out
with him in the city.

But he's trouble, Crys.

So I convinced them to come
to North House with me instead.

But I needed something fun
to get them to come up here.

like this all the time

when we were young and dumb.

call there's been an accident.

She's not supposed

a nest in the shed

- It's the farm's old well.

We've only been here
about a month.

And my husband,
he works on the oil sands,

and he boarded it up
before he left.

in the fall

he's supposed to fill it in.

down a steel pipe.

She could have internal
bleeding, head injuries.

might be able to use this pipe

as a bar, make a pulley,
there's gear in the trailer.

[dramatic music]

- I think she's unconscious.

- What do we do? We have to
wait for the fire department?

You can't lift her.

leave her down there.

If she's unconscious, she could
be having trouble breathing

or internal injuries,

We don't know how stable the
pipe is, or if it gets smaller.

It just feels fast.

for Mr. Talbot?

He taught history
and geography at Thompson High.

He was pretty beloved.

- He had a massive aneurysm last
night which left him brain dead.

He's a registered organ donor

and Donor Screening Canada
thinks they'll be able to place

most of his organs
with patients in need.

But TCH isn't equipped
for organ retrieval,

so Donor Screening has
arranged for Mr. Talbot

to be transferred to Winnipeg

so his organs can
reach more patients.

- So we're just flying him
to Winnipeg to be taken apart?

- The patient is
already dead, Nowak.

The ventilator breathing
for him is the only thing

keeping his body alive.

But he can still help
a lot of people.

- We're just gonna take what
we need from him and move on?

- This is what he wanted, Nowak.

- Do you know how many lives
he's gonna save?

He's a hero.
And no one takes that lightly.

[soft music]

- Can we do a flyover
of Thompson High?

The patient taught there
for a long time.

I thought it might be nice
for him to see it.

One last flight to say goodbye.

He's my father.

to him last night in Thompson

10 years ago.

They caught it in time

but they told him
he was at high risk

of developing another.

Dad didn't see it as a risk.

He felt like he had been given
this amazing second chance.

That's why it was so important
for him to be a donor.

We're not supposed to know
anything about the recipients,

but I met a man on
the elevator just now.

His daughter's been
waiting for a new heart

for a really long time.

He got every last bit
of life out of that heart.

And I know she will, too.

[music intensifies]

And I didn't want to just take,
