Storm Eye

Episode 31

Actually, I told you all this

not because I want to say that you should stop blaming him or cursing at him.

I hope that you can understand him.

I'm going home now.

Xiao An, can you let that boy take me back?

Dad, I...

Dad.

Take Uncle home.

What about us here then?

Department Chief Song and I are here.

Du Meng is also very important.

He Zixuan won't be able to do it himself.

Hurry up and leave.

Dad, I'll take you home.

Xiao An, thank you for telling me everything.

You're a good kid.

This kid, you'll have to take care of him more.

Rest easy.

What is it?

Ma Junhai, did you eat gunpowder?

I'm busy.

You're busy? Do I not know you?

Are you with that Fu Dayong?

You know you have the ability to play games with me in front of others,

then come home and fight with me?

Say what you have to say. I'm really busy!

I'm really fine and I'm full. Why do I even call you...

Really.

Did your goods get shipped? Nothing has happened, right?

It's pretty successful. It's okay.

I'll come back in a bit.

I'm hanging up!

Dad, is mom angry again?

Dad.

Dad.

Dad.

I still have to work on the mission. I can't come home right now.

Don't be mad, please.

Dad... I was wrong.

Pay attention to safety.

All right.

Don't think about it. Even if it's over,

you and your dad are still in a father-son relationship.

What can't you talk about?

Hurry up and forget about it.

Right now, the most critical move is

to hurry up how to save Fu Mengyao.

If the arrest just leaks out even a little,

I think her life won't be saved!

Zixuan.

Connect the video. Let's have a meeting with Department Chief Song.

We were just about to call you. We have verified Fu Dayong here.

His daughter, Fu Mengyao, was indeed kidnapped.

This thing is very tricky.

Before Fu Mengyao is safe, we can't leak anything.

I think we should send the first batch of goods first,

then let the customs delay their sailing time for other reasons.

We can't let the opponent know that he's been targeted.

But there are too many uncertainties.

It's hard to make sure that there will be no mistakes in the delivery.

Just like what Department Chief Song just said. We know nothing about each other.

We don't know when they will come to receive the goods.

We don't know how many people will be a part of this.

We also don't know if they will have a secret code when they meet.

We even don't know if they put in a secret whistle. (T/N hidden sentry post)

I checked the background of all the people arrested.

I found that there are two people who are likely to become our breakthrough.

I'll send all the related information to you.

Okay.

Director Chief Song. I recommend

in order to ensure the safety of the hostage, as long as it is helpful to the case

and where it is permitted by law,

we could reach a certain agreement with them.

Give them a reduced sentence, provide witness protection or something.

It's up to you how to talk about it.

Then what do we do about Fu Mengyao?

We don't know where she's being kept right now.

I will report this to Director Ting about this.

Zixuan and I will be in charge of this matter if necessary.

Sure.

The most important thing now is to ensure the safety of the hostage.

We'll try out best to rescue the hostage.

- Understood. - Understood.

It's past work time.

What's wrong with Pang Yishan today?

Work Pass

This is not the direction to Dinghua either.

Yeah. Where does Pang Yishan want to go?

It seems to be the way to the city hospital.

Ma Shang, what does Pang Yishan want to do?

Now all the cards that can be played have been put in front of Pang Yishan.

I suspect that his actions today may have something to do with his previous conversation with Miao Fei.

Can you monitor over there?

You can't directly monitor a mobile phone without approval.

I'll try with the radio later, but I don't think it will work very well.

Come in.

Lao Pang?

- President Lin. - Sit down.

Why did you come here, Lao Pang?

President Lin. I'm here to say goodbye to you.

This is the background information I bought to find out about Knowledge & Invention Union.

The background of the Knowledge & Invention Union is very deep.

But after spending some money, I found out

that he is backed by none other than the Hermes Group.

I don't know if you have any impression of this group.

I know this group.

Do you know its relationship with Dinghua then?

I don't remember Hermes working with Dinghua before.

This thing happened before you came to Dinghua.

It's been about ten years ago.

At that time, this was the business handled by Miao Huanyang. I only know some inside information.

At that time, in order to expedite it, Dinghua brought in a lot of funds

and used the policy situation at that time.

They may have done a lot of trading with DS ore.

Of course, it was all done legally.

But I noticed at the time

that it was Hermes Group that bought

DS ore in secret.

In other words, the ore sold by Dinghua in that year is likely to have flowed overseas.

The reason why I paid attention to this matter at that time was actually my own selfishness.

I want to have something at hand to deal with Lao Miao in the future.

All these years...

All these years, you and Director Miao have never told me about this!

Who would talk about this for no reason?

Lao Pang, whatever happened in the past,

I won't ask about it.

But starting from now,

whatever collaboration there is with Knowledge & Invention Union must cease immediately!

Stopping it will lead to a dead end.

Didn't you think about this?

All these years, Hermes has been meddling in DS ores.

Their acquisition of Dinghua is not a simple matter!

I naturally know this.

Moreover, I sent someone to check the situation of the stock market.

I think you know very well that

someone is secretly buying Dinghua's shares now.

If my guess is correct, it's Knowledge & Invention Union

who wants to use this opportunity to control Dinghua.

This matter is not that simple.

Dinghua is a company to which the government has always paid close attention to.

If we can investigate this, it's unlikely that the government is not aware of this!

They will definitely intervene at the critical moment.

This transaction will never conclude.

So to say, if you don't want Dinghua to collapse, there's only one way.

Let the state-owned enterprise step in.

President Lin, let me be honest with you.

In the past, no matter if it was me or Miao Huanyang,

we were adamant against state-owned enterprises injecting funds into our company.

On the surface, we wanted to give Dinghua the highest degree of autonomy.

In fact, as for the real private reason,

I don't need to say it out loud for you to understand.

Once a state-owned enterprise intervenes, Miao Huanyang and I will tremble over those bad debts.

Lao Pang,

how much do you owe?

Let me tell you this.

If Miao Huanyang got wind of these things back then,

I would not have been able to get away with it!

I asked Miao Fei two days ago.

Although she didn't directly answer me,

in my estimation, Miao Huanyang may have gone in now.

Hence, I'm here to bid farewell to you today...

and turn myself in later.

Lao Pang,

for you to make this choice,

it shows that you care about Dinghua.

I have no other choice now.

Each of us has to pay for what we have done.

For me, Pang Yishan, to come this far, I admit it.

I think,

I have really disappointed you.

In fact, everyone makes mistakes.

Acknowledging your mistakes, accepting your mistakes

and being responsible for them, you have already done very well.

Lao Pang,

you didn't disappoint me.

In fact, I was just a pug in Miao Huanyang's eyes for so many years.

None of the vice presidents in the company looked up to me.

This included my subordinates. They all think that I'm only good at bragging,

full of empty words and without any darn substance.

When the company was facing a crisis,

you pretended not to know. You knew I would face numerous problems,

but you still chose to trust me

and handed over the company to me.

The kindness of acknowledging my worth and employing me,

I will remember this.

Lao Pang, don't say anymore.

Frankly, it's not that I don't have great ambitions,

but it's definitely too late now.

What I can only do now is to solve Dinghua's crisis.

It can be considered as my last dedication to Dinghua.

I have already asked someone to make arrangement for the new investments.

I know you haven't fully recovered,

but I may still need to trouble you to

preside over the following tasks.

Leave the rest of the tasks to me.

Don't worry.

President Lin, I'm taking my leave now.

Lao Pang.

Ma Shang, did you hear Pang Yishan's conversation just now?

I heard everything.

What should we do? What does he mean?

Continue to monitor him to make sure that he's turning himself in.

Okay.

I really didn't expect this situation.

Don't tell me Pang Yishan still has some conscience?

You don't find it very strange?

What's so strange about this?

Pang Yishan has been pressed by us. He doesn't has a choice.

Rather than being caught in the act, why not turn himself in?

It can lighten his sentence.

No. About Knowledge & Invention Union's acquisition of Dinghua,

it basically doesn't need us to solve it.

Dinghua knows very well what they should do and what happened behind the scenes,

but don't you feel that this game is really terrible?

The other party spent so much time. Why would they want to publicize such a confusing situation?

It seems to make sense.

Moreover, it obviously won't succeed.

What President Lin said just now, makes a lot of sense.

The government will definitely step in at that stage.

Knowledge & Invention Union will definitely know this.

Same for Qiao Xichuan.

Hearing you say this, it's definitely rather strange.

Let's talk about smuggling again.

When Fu Dayong submitted the limits of authority for mining,

it seems to be a simple process. It only takes a short time.

But don't you feel that these two chess moves are particularly ugly?

The opponent we fought in the past was not at this standard at all!

Could it be that they didn't have any choice as they were pressed by us?

Impossible.

If this is the case, they should have withdrawn

instead of delivering themselves to us.

What's your view?

Department Chief Song, at 7 pm,

the smuggling gang picked up the goods.

Everything went without any hitches.

We made a call to customs over there, they will as much as possible try to find an excuse

and ascertained that at that most, we can ourselves hold the goods up to fifteen days.

Still, with Fu Mengyao over there, we must seize the moment

to avoid being caught sleeping.

The hostage will otherwise receive more injuries.

We've discovered Fu Mengyao has not left the country.

Sky-Eye system shows Fu Dayong seeing her off, she went through customs afterward two hours ago.

She then reappeared at Shuangqing Airport.

Together with her traveling companion, she then got into a black limousine.

This black car then took them out of Shuangqing to Binhai city.

However after they arrived in Binhai, monitoring lost their whereabouts due to a blind spot.

Ma Shang, what was the result of your communication with the provincial government office?

The provincial government's office already is allowing

me to aid the Binhai city office in investigating this case.

However, I myself still have some questions.

If you don't want to follow up on this matter, I can go with Section Chief An.

That wasn't what I meant.

I think something's not right, this is going entirely too well,

it's as though my opponent has suddenly become foolish!

I also feel this way,

not only has Dinghua's inside man not been found,

but there's a hidden danger that has not yet been removed here.

Previously, we suspected Pang Yishan,

except now Pang Yishan has taken practical measures to reduce himself as a suspect.

Who is that person inside Dinghua? It appears we guessed wrong again,

so the threat inside Dinghua still has not been eliminated.

In this matter, we should not get anxious, but make a painstaking investigation, take it slowly.

In addition, we also have a target subject, Qiao Xichuan.

We already have enough evidence to prove he is engaging in illegal acquisitions.

We have restricted him from leaving the country, he must cooperate with our investigation!

That's right. Qiao Xichuan along with Pang Yishan, same reason.

They are already dead pawns on the board,

but things are progressing much too smoothly in this matter.

I really don't know whether or not our opponent has really gone stupid

or if instead they are extremely cunning, and sitting in the middle of a web.

I don't think you should read so much into this.

No matter what, getting Qiao Xichuan to talk is a major breakthrough for us.

We made a major discovery today.

On that phone Fu Dayong handed over to us,

we made a major discovery today in finding a string of fingerprints and already sent them in to be cross-matched.

I'm convinced there will be a quick result.

Department Chief Song, about Fu Dayong's side, how much information have we got?

This is a tricky business.

Because Fu Dayong's anxious about his daughter's safety, as a result we're not following closely.

This includes the matter of the forged documents and who supplied them.

Also who his connections are, who he uses to send out the goods, he has refused to turn them over to us.

Then can we not discover who made arrangements for his daughter to go abroad?

This too we asked him, and he won't tell us.

So our priority now is

to rescue Fu Mengyao.

Department Chief Song, I ask to work with An Jing on this mission.

Right now, this objective is clearly top priority,

and it's vital in opening a gap with Fu Dayong!

An Jing, go prepare.

Okay, got it.

You're back.

Is Mom sleeping?

Yup, asleep.

I can't sleep! Look at this.

Dad, did you tell mom anything about this?

I didn't tell your mom anything,

how else do you think you can walk in here and it's calm like this?

Right.

Right now, I

have a really deep sense of frustration!

I feel as a father I have not fulfilled my own obligations.

You tell me you don't mind, but even so...

That connection with my company? I couldn't make it happen!

Dad, you did make it happen.

How can I take credit for your efforts!

Be honest, as a child, did you think there was something wrong with your old dad?

Dad, emotionally speaking,

I think it's unlikely you have any problem.

However...from my professional standpoint,

I have to consider all the possibilities.

Before this, I used to think

you were pretty much the same these past ten or twelve years.

You were a kid who made trouble for me everywhere.

But lately, I find I'm a little anxious talking to you.

I don't know what to say or what not to say.

Dad, you don't have to say it.

What can I say, I'm still your son.

Since you know my identity, just be sure you keep it from my mother.

Dad, right now is not the time.

I have to ask you to keep it quiet a little longer.

I'm waiting for the right moment,

I want to tell Mom myself.

Don't worry, I know the score.

Thanks Dad!

What's your assignment?

I know I can't ask, I shouldn't ask.

I just want to tell you something.

Carry out your assignment, and be sure of your own safety.

Okay?

That I can guarantee you.

That's good.

You're going on a business trip?

Yes. I'm going on a business trip for two days.

Wrong.

Lao Fu's daughter has been kidnapped.

Are you going to try to rescue her?

How could I do that?

You still think you can lie to me!

I'm telling you, I've got it all figured out!

You're worried about this job, and you've been keeping your identity secret from your father.

It's just that carrying out this mission, it's not an ordinary mission!

It's also likely to be dangerous, as you've chosen this line of work!

I support you, but I'm not sure if you'll let me to worry about you.

How is this possible?

The reason why...

is you are very devoted.

Hurry up and finish handling this matter, come home soon and let me know you're safe, okay?

All right. I'll be home as soon as possible.

Didn't you tell them when I'd arrive?

I notified them.

President Lin, you have recovered.

Be seated.

President Qiao, I found out that while we were previously in the middle of negotiations,

you never from the beginning mentioned Knowledge & Technology's union's behind the scenes support,

namely Hermes Group.

What?

What does it matter.

It matters a lot.

If you had previously mentioned Hermes Group in wanting to buy Dinghua,

there would be no need for us to negotiate.

President Lin, if you didn't want to talk to me about this business now, you could have just phoned me.

Why did you make me come down here personally?

You've wasted my time and yours.

After all is said and done, it's you at Dinghua who are now grasping at straws,

instead of brainstorming together.

As this is the case,

I'll just go.

Mr. Qiao, wait!

National Security Bureau?

How does this have anything to do with National Security Bureau?

We now have received related evidence

that proves Knowledge & Invention Union has malicous intentions in purchasing Dinghua's shares,

with the purpose of reaching a controlling share in the company.

That's utter and complete nonsense!

I believe what you have in your hands,

your so-called "evidence", won't stand up.

I'm a businessman,

and I'm not a Chinese citizen,

so don't try to make things up to frighten me.

We've already examined your identity,

that's why I am being courteous and discussing this business with you.

We hope you will cooperate with us

in our follow-up investigation.

For the time being, don't try to leave the country, otherwise we'll be forced to detain you.

Do I have to talk to you right now?

If this is the case, then I'd like to consult my lawyer first.

Please wait a moment.

I'm only here right now to inform you of the situation.

If we need to ask any further questions later, we'll be in contact

in the next part of our investigation.

You can go for now.

Thank you.

Son, wait, wait a minute!

- Here, take it, take this from me. - Package?

Just arrived.

You should have told me, I wasn't expecting anything like this.

They also didn't let me know ahead of time!

Do you mean to tell me Dinghua is like this now,

- sending you on a business trip like this? - Mom...

- Mom, I don't need those things... - This won't do!

I'm just going on a simple business trip, I'll be back in two days!

These are all your favorite foods.

Here!

- I really don't need that cold medicine! - You do!

You have to take it with you.

You told me you sometimes suffer from headache or fever

and upset stomach, it might come in handy, huh?

Don't take things so seriously!

Got it, I'll take care of my health.

Here, this is for you.

Now remember to call mom when you get there, okay?

Okay.

All right!

Dad, I'm headed out.

Lao Ma, what are you doing? Our son is leaving!

I'll take you over.

Son, don't forget to call mom, okay?

Forgot you were leaving tonight, just realized

that you're no longer a child, you're grown up.

Before this, you didn't need your mother, now you don't need me to protect you either.

There's nothing I can do, we're just your parents.

It's impossible for us to not worry about you,

though you're much taller than the child you used to be.

You're out there taking care of your business,

don't worry about your mother and I.

You mustn't get distracted...don't get distracted from what you're doing.

from what you're doing.

Dad, don't worry.

I'll take care of things as soon as possible,

and come back to you safe and sound.

Okay.

Back when I was in the middle of the battlefield,

a bullet ripped a hole in my thigh, making it useless.

A real he-man, right?

Dad, you can let me out here.

A colleague will pick me up soon.

You listen to me, your Uncle Fu has such a precious daughter,

you must rescue her!

I guarantee I'll complete the mission.

All right, go on!

Let's go.

How are things going with you?

Qiao Xichuan's every movement nowadays, we are currently in range and monitoring them.

We're also following up on any telephone signals to intercept them.

I also have people around all the possible exit and entry points, he can't possibly leave without permission.

Still leaving him room to move as you instructed, in case he takes action.

Good. It's about time.

Then I'll leave him to you, Du Meng, and your detail.

Rest assured.

Contact me if you have any questions.

What, and disturb your romantic evening?

Group leader, this call cannot be monitored.

It's a satellite signal!

Keep listening.
