As Billy's final mission to realize the family dream...

We're building a zipline because I think it's gonna be a blast!

- Dropping down. - Do not unhook.

Whoa! This guy is my war horse. -

Horseback archery, jousting.

Gabe! It needs to go up!

I find myself hearing the call of Alaska.

Rain! Starboard!

We're coming into Brown town, guys!

Feels really great to be back in my treehouse!

- Hey, hey! - You've always been there in a pinch, man.

It's hard answering, "Do I want to move back?"

The wind is just howling.

Rain! What's wrong? - What's going on?

But in the face of inexpressible tragedy...

He really was my best friend.

He was there for me like nobody else ever was.

Can the Wolfpack carry on?

We all have to find our peace with what's happened somehow.

There's still a part of me that feels really lost.

I wanna make this super-insulated so Mom and Dad are so warm

'cause this is like, the master bedroom.

It's early July on North Star Ranch.

Just weeks before a sudden wildfire devastates their ranch.

The Browns are preparing for the biggest summer of their lives.

I can hardly wait to see Mom's and Dad's face

when they come into the house.

As the height of the pandemic grips the country,

their main house is nearly complete.

And the dream of total freedom

is on the verge of realization.

Trying to get my conex fixed up as nice as possible.

So I actually opted for white paint.

It not only makes it look a lot cooler, but it also takes away all the rust.

Sun up to sun down.

Time to remove the big boy.

Sounds good. Let me pull this up.

Ah, this makes me miss the ocean.

No rest for the weary. Not when there is

things to be hauled, or firewood to be chunked.

Yeah. It's my new wood axe.

Everybody's been busting kind of hard especially since Mom got sick.

That's why I'm saying, I'm ready to start thinking like we used to think.

Let's get some craziness out here.

Well, I was thinking about something.

It's actually something I promised you a long time ago.

Back when we were in Brown town,

I used to dream of a zipline.

I've been, kind of, uh, looking into it a little bit and all.

It, it seems like it's possible.

Like if we put multiple ziplines in different strategic areas

where we could all, like, zip down to central locations.

Is that even doable?

My dad, he's always had a saying,

It's the fun things that help with morale and bringing everybody back together.

So, the idea is that eventually, like,

gummy bears or something, we're gonna be able to zip

from one area of the property to the other.

Spanning across their 400 acres,

the Brown zipline will connect each sibling's parcel of land

via an intricate system of cables.

All leading to the family's main house.

Extreme!

We'll look at the house, how far it is to start with.

And then look over the edge.

Oh, man, be scary as hell.

- Who dibs first? What? - We dibs first.

We're the top of the age bracket.

Okay...

Let's get a move on.

Are we gonna do, like, a platform jump off... situation?

'Cause that's already a pretty good drop just from here.

With a plan for a web of ziplines in motion,

the Browns begin on the longest

and most important line of their system,

a 300 yard route that will connect their main house

to an anchor point near the entrance of their Ranch,

a central hub for the family's construction materials.

That one's too small I think.

This guy, he's tilting towards the road and looks a little tiny.

First, they'll need to build a platform on a sturdy tree.

That tree. That's been here for a while.

He's strong, he's good, he's good to go.

I think this one's about the only one we really could go to.

The anchor tree for the zipline is very important,

because it needs to withstand the amount of weight,

that we're going to be putting on it.

If it isn't strong enough,

the zipline will be too dangerous,

and weak for anybody to use.

All right.

That's the tree we're going with then.

- We're settled. - Okay.

This zipline is not only great for bringing everybody together.

It's also really practical.

So instead of having to drive all of our materials,

all the way around the valley to get to the house.

We stop on the corner and just start sending stuff down.

Sending stuff down.

So what do you think, do you want me to scale up this bad boy?

The easiest thing to do would be to get Noah's pole saw.

There's no reason to climb up there and...

Try to hang on with your legs while you're sawing.

Yeah, I can't do that.

I don't have the leg muscles.

I'm not sure I've ever heard that expression before so I don't know.

I think that's a thing where you have, like, flabby thighs.

I don't think that's a thing.

At this point, y'all could totally be making this up.

First, I think, let's just haul some of this out of our way,

so we can even get to the tree.

There's so much work to go from where we are right now

to the actual dream.

But, Rome wasn't built in a day.

And it wasn't built by one guy.

This guy, right tool for the right job, man.

Okay, we're gonna keep trimming while you try to get that started.

Looks like the wrong tool for the right job.

Come on.

This zipline really is the embodiment of what it means to live in the bush,

and what it means to be a Brown.

You hold on for dear life.

You close your eyes and try and enjoy the ride.

I'm so excited for this zipline.

That's what I'm envisioning.

I think that's at least good until we can get up there

with that platform.

We'll be ziplining in no time.

Well I had a lot of free time while Bam was trying to start the hedge trimmer.

While the siblings come together

to kick off the zipline project,

Noah and sister Snowbird explore the land for unusual artifacts.

Birdy and I used to talk quite a bit.

Up in Alaska, it was kind of a conscious choice,

for one to hang out and do things.

But here we have so much space to be able to spread out,

that it kinda makes it difficult.

One of the ways that Birdy and I bond,

we collect the corpses.

Let's see if we can find the skull.

Yeah, at least I got some of the jaw.

I love Bird's bone tree.

It's so cool. Very like necromancer witch.

So how are you adjusting living up here with nothing but cats?

I like it. I definitely miss the commotion

of, like, living with everyone.

It's not so bad, living with someone.

- No. - I live with my wife and my son.

I don't know, I definitely thought about like...

I wasn't gonna use that word.

Everyone in the family has been trying to pester me to like "Find a guy."

Mom wants me to have a kid, um...

It's not gonna happen anytime soon, Mom.

But now that the ranch is,

kind of at a point that it's like it's built,

maybe I'm not as closed off to the idea that

someone might come along.

What kind of characteristics would you be interested in?

He'd have to like animals. Obviously.

And not have to mind my kind of...

Strangeness.

You just need to find the guy that appreciates

that you hang bones from a tree like some sort of witch.

I'd probably not lead in with the cats.

To be honest, that is what I would lead in with.

So, like, this is a guy, I'd be like,

- "Hi." - "Hey, I have cats."

I live with all of them, they sleep on top of me like a blanket.

There we go. Perfect!

No matter how strange and how different someone is,

there's always someone out there that fits with them.

And if she's actually at the point where maybe she'll try to find the one,

that is awesome and I'd be happy for her.

And also have a shovel if it doesn't turn out right.

After choosing a location for its base,

Bear and sister Rain get back to work on the family zipline.

A ranch addition that Billy hopes will connect

the expanding Wolfpack.

Next step, running a guide wire

across the longest route,

a daunting 1,100 foot trek over untamed land.

We should try to make it as tight as we can, shouldn't we?

I mean, I don't wanna make it too tight.

That's about as tight as I'm gonna be able to get it.

Okay, that's fine.

Hey, check it!

- Quartz. - Oh, that's cool.

Is that quartz too, that white rock right there?

Hey, actually there's a ton of it.

Oh, that means gold's nearby.

Wait, yeah, look, it's all over.

Yeah, it's, like, overflowing out.

In the past, my family and I have actually searched for a lot of gold.

I do know, where there is quartz,

there is also gold, they're found together.

That means that there is or was at one time gold in this vicinity.

Wait a sec, look!

What does this all have in common?

It's as if it's overflowed.

Let's check at the top of this hill,

there might be a mine in this vicinity.

With a trail of quartz like this,

you could be very close to the jackpot of gold.

We have a lot of mines on the property

that we haven't explored before so,

it's definitely something I want to investigate.

Oh, this looks like overflow.

Well yeah, that's a nice one.

Perfect to get the workout in, too,

it's like, "Oh, shiny."

"Oh, shiny, oh, shiny..."

Bear, I think this is the actual shaft.

- Do you see a shaft? - I'm looking at it.

Ooh, we found one, Rainy!

- We found an actual shaft. - Yeah, I wonder which one this is.

Oh, wow! That goes really far.

That is by far the best one I've seen. All the other ones seem sealed off.

This guy still might be open all the way, we're talking like...

500 feet.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised to find this mine shaft,

it's kind of off the beaten path,

it just means there might be even more mines that I don't know about.

- Rainy, what are you doing? - Climbing in.

- To get a sample. - Find your sample, watch out for the spiders!

With the zipline in progress right now

is the perfect time to start looking into the gold a little bit more.

I think it is in line with what Dad's trying to achieve.

You know it's family and it's adventure, and it's fun.

I think we could be on to something.

- Finding gold? - Striking gold?

That would be outrageous.

But there's a system to run both of them.

The influence for this sit-in theater,

it's kind of like an old video store.

Growing up, we had movie nights, every night.

Even if we didn't have a ton of movies,

we ended up, like, circulating through five of them.

When you ran into people,

which is few and far between,

you ask, "What movies do you have?"

That's a nice box of movies.

That's the worst Sean Connery I ever heard.

So, you basically swap boxes sitting there,

and looking through and seeing what someone wanted to borrow,

what you're willing to trade.

You know, this movie always has reminded me of you.

It's gonna accentuate the magic in North Star Ranch,

and really give that feeling of magic,

of whimsy when you walk into a toy shop.

Well, everybody is so spread out now,

we used to get together every night and watch a movie.

I think we could all use a little more of that, you know?

A little bit more family togetherness?

I miss that.

I definitely miss the good old days with the family up in Alaska.

It's kind of our thing.

Dinner and a movie, it was one of those things that brought us close together

and kept us that way.

We did get some samples.

Did you know that most of the gold was started on this mountain?

1912 through 1914,

this place was extremely active.

Dad's always been very interested in gold mining

and gold in general.

So, he's the best person to go to when it comes to the samples

and we're really coming up with a solid plan.

In the early 1900s,

gold strikes in Okanogan County, Washington

catapulted Loomis into a mining boom town.

And Palmer mountain was ground zero.

But miners ran out of time and money,

never working the land to its full potential.

To this day,

many locals believe the biggest strike

still lies undiscovered.

The gold did not play out on this mountain.

The gold became where it was easier to get other places,

and it just wasn't worth doing it anymore.

But uh, gold, silver,

I don't think they ever quit finding it is what I'm saying.

It's here!

I didn't think it was.

It's a form of adventure in itself. - That's right.

It's worth looking into it. It really is.

Can you imagine running around with gold nuggets on our neck?

From our own ranch?

- And our own mine? - It would be unbelievable!

I've been working on a ton of stuff lately.

I've had to actually schedule out my day.

15 minutes to myself, come inside and tinker.

Later that afternoon,

Noah sets a new plan in motion,

to take the Browns to even greater heights.

Growing up, we all spent a lot of time on boats.

Some of my fondest memories were actually on those boats.

Our boat was kinda one of those nostalgic things from Alaska.

I have this memory on an old skiff,

and we were pretending that we were sky pilots.

Dad's adamant about trying to make sure

that we're all a close family, like we have been.

So, I came up with the idea, "I can actually build a boat,

that flies."

I've always loved the Da Vinci designs.

Da Vinci made several flying machines.

Uh, I believe he flew a couple of the model versions.

One of my favorites is actually his flying boat design.

I wanna do a little bit of it.

I'm going to make a sky boat.

This is the miniature prototype version of my sky boat.

It's going to be buoyant because of the balloon of Helium.

I'm actually going to use gigantic fans.

So, if this is your fan, it's going to tilt like this,

and then, backward.

I know the dimensions of the sky boat.

It's going to be about 16 to 20 feet.

I think I have the materials that I need,

in order to be able to actually take to the skies.

How many movies, or stories does someone have a flying airship?

I'm gonna make one.

Carving a path for a new zipline system,

the Browns discover a series of mines

in unchartered territory, on their property.

That's completely, uh, in water.

And, while waiting on materials to install the zipline,

Rain and her siblings shift their focus to gold.

I definitely think that, looking for this gold

has reignited something in me.

Oh, well, yeah, maybe that is it. - Oh, mama!

I'm about to turn 18, I'm almost an adult, and I think that

it's part of who I am,

finding gold, and being a gold miner.

It's something that Dad and I have been really looking forward to trying

to pursue on the mountain.

Oh, wow!

- What is it? - I'm gonna see if this is iron.

- How you gonna see? - You lick it.

Oh.

I really hope that's not dead body down here,

'cause every once in a while, it really smells.

Oh, man, I just thought of something.

What if this isn't a mine, and it was an ancient...

I mean, I do admit, it doesn't have any mine qualities.

- Does it? - It doesn't look like a mine shaft at all.

Well, I'm thinking this is close to Noah's land, so even if that...

So, even if that wasn't the intended use

for this hole, Noah may have saw it and thought the same thing I did.

This gold mine,

not sure it was a gold mine.

Just saying, I mean a yes, I think it was used 100 years ago,

by someone, but I'm not sure it was to find gold.

The nugs we're looking for down there, might not be the ones we find.

I'm just gonna say that.

It's definitely not poop.

The least I weigh, the more my boat can weigh.

So, now, I'm on this diet.

The long term goal is to get down to 185 pounds.

It not only will be the healthiest version,

but it will also be good

for getting me down past the weight, so that I can fly.

So, given the rate that I'm losing,

how long does it take to get there?

Probably looking at another seven weeks.

Before Eli, it was a lot easier to find time to work out.

I was exercising, like, six hours a day.

Least favorite, ab workout.

During my healthiest, my body builder phase,

I was jacked.

And, I will admit, I haven't been able to workout as much, but

I still can fight tooth and nail to accomplish anything I need to,

to protect my family, or inspire them.

that Bird was possibly going into town to scope out guys,

and obviously being the sister that I am, I have to help her.

I think, now that she's getting a little older,

and the guys have settled down,

I think that she's kinda leaning more towards that too,

you know, I think she's kinda tired of kissing frogs,

and she wants one of them to actually turn into a prince.

She needs to go out there. She needs to do something about it.

Just gonna dive right in.

Hoping to achieve father Billy's grand vision for the family,

the Wolfpack embarks on new projects

around North Star Ranch.

Start out by putting on my old harness.

And, before they continue on their massive zipline,

Bear, and his sisters investigate the deepest mine they've found,

almost 300 feet below ground.

This is the last mine that we found in this vicinity,

and it's one of the last mines that we haven't explored.

This one is deeper than all the other ones.

The plan to lower Bear down is, hook him up with a harness

tethered around a tree,

and slowly hoist him down by hand.

All right, that's supposed to be against that.

This is what we have.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It's close enough, I think.

Or some ingredient could be what keeps you alive.

You are going down into a mine shaft. - Possible, that's possible.

Bear is the perfect guy for this job because he is extreme,

and doesn't care if he gets hurt.

Are you going in? Oh, wait. - Yup, I'm going. Let's go.

Oh.

- You have to. - You don't wanna be going in there without your helmet.

Safety first, right?

But, I think I might have underestimated his extremeness right now.

I'm fine with you getting a little hurt, but I can't risk your life here.

Think I'm coming to a drop.

Okay, right looks fairly sealed.

It's really awesome to finally be able to go

into a mine myself.

And, not just a little one that's just a few feet in.

This is a really, really deep mine.

Like some sort of crystal-looking stuff here.

Hey guys, I'm gonna un-hook for a second.

- No. - No, you're not.

Guys, it's pretty level.

- It doesn't matter. - Absolutely not!

I need more rope.

Now that we have some good samples from the mine,

the next step is to process those samples.

We will have to find equipment in order to do that.

Definitely iron, eh?

There's, like, this yellow...

junk all over the walls.

This was just the first step into a mini-step process,

but the first step is the most vital.

Think there could be gold in there.

I feel a little gold fever now. -

I need a record player for the boat.

Imagine it.

You see the boat coming around

that's playing Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla.

The next morning,

Noah and his family travel to a local junkyard.

Hoping to salvage the materials needed,

for his sky boat to take flight.

There are four boats in Rory's junkyard.

I need to take a look at all four of them.

The idea aspects of the boat that I am looking for,

is something small, something light-weight,

something large enough that it can house all the materials I need.

If I can lift the front of it without any problem,

we should be good to go.

Oh, that's kinda cute.

Oh, look at that, and little to the left.

Not too heavy.

It's about the right size.

No motor.

Looks completely gutted.

All the attachments here are busted.

You need the attachments?

Noah and I differ on this drastically.

He wants to just dive, head first and just build the thing,

I do feel that this is an insane idea.

It has all the gauges.

The shifts.

Everything.

This is a project that might potentially take years.

I definitely think I'm the right person to give advice.

You know, I just got married not too long ago,

so I know what I'm doing.

I definitely wanna help her.

So this is first step kind of stuff.

We're just getting her feet wet, you know,

and then, later...

She gonna be swimming, you know.

Bird definitely needs to come out of her shell a little bit, you know.

The roof is very warm.

And I think I might be able to cook on it.

This is the first roof pizza I've made.

So I'm hoping the metal kind of gives it a nice, distinct, kinda iron flavor.

Yeah, you taste something.

I do like to throw a little bit of a pizza party,

but not many people want to eat my pizza sadly.

It's a little bit not their taste.

I use barbecue sauce.

It gives it a sweeter taste.

But I don't have cheese.

And so, a good alternative is...

cheese chips.

And then you kind of just crush them.

Some pickles which is baby dill pickles.

And then I have the best part which is the chocolate sauce.

You really got to go heavy on this stuff.

Here we go.

I'm gonna leave it to bake and I'll be back in an hour.

Oh, man, my stomach does not feel good.

The Browns push forward on the most expansive project

North Star Ranch has seen.

A zipline that father Billy hopes will unite every corner

of the Browns' 400 acre ranch.

With supplies in place,

the siblings return to the assembly of the first line.

We will tighten this a bit.

Connect it on to the tractor.

The next crucial step.

Raising the haywire.

Which will act as a guide for the zipline cable high above the treeline.

Dad wants to build a huge zipline.

His idea is that it will bring everybody closer together.

This zipline will be the embodiment of what it means to live in the bush.

We fix this up.

So that the cable's attached under the tractor.

Then I'm going to slowly start going forwards.

As I'm pulling it, this cable is going to raise. - Right.

- Quite a bit - Ideally.

And as it does, it's going to come to contact with branches.

It will snap if it hits something.

So you wanna hold if I tell y'all to hold. - Exactly.

One short howl for stop.

- And two short howls to go. - Two short howls to go. Okay.

Any time you're dealing with a cable

that's being pulled super tight,

one of the main problems that it could have is to snap.

Don't forget to tarp that thing.

We don't want to whiplash anybody.

All we need to do is put these things over the cable.

That thing could literally take limbs off, it could kill you.

So people want to keep their distance from it in case it snaps.

Sounds like Bear's ready.

Definitely tensed, ain't it?

Oh, I heard a snap.

I did too. I thought it was the tree.

I'm gonna lose the rope. It's not long enough.

What happened?

- It broke loose. - It snapped something up here.

Round one didn't go so well.

It goes to the forest instead of the Browns

It caught on the way out, snapping.

Fraying a bunch of it and whiplashing back.

The attachment that we had holding it must have broken.

I mean, do we have enough to just do it again?

Why don't we all grab on to it and see if we can pull enough slack

to get it to the tractor.

It actually might have been a good thing,

that the first round didn't really go in our favor,

because now we know exactly what to do to make it work perfectly.

If we put three or four more of these on it, that should work.

Just because something doesn't work doesn't mean you give up.

Dad's idea for this was a zipline.

That's super important to keep going.

Okay, do I un-hook?

- Yeah, un-hook it all. - All right.

Looks like there's a lot happening on the ranch right now.

You know, zipline, working together.

We're working to find gold which I know Dad and Rain are excited about.

We're good to go to give it a shot.

I think it definitely did what Dad wanted it to do.

It definitely brought all of us closer together,

and family is what matters.

We've had one dream.

For a long time.

It's to live life our way.

The zipline, it opens up that sort of thing on a ranch.

It's more important than anything to keep family together.

It is our best hope to actually live a life we want to.
