Feels really great to be back
in my treehouse!

on North Star Ranch.

a sudden wildfire devastates their ranch.

The Browns are preparing
for the biggest summer of their lives.

I can hardly wait
to see Mom's and Dad's face

when they come into the house.

As the height
of the pandemic grips the country,

their main house
is nearly complete.

And the dream of total freedom

is on the verge
of realization.

Trying to get my conex
fixed up as nice as possible.

So I actually opted
for white paint.

It not only makes it
look a lot cooler, but it also takes away all the rust.

the big boy.

about something.

It's actually something
I promised you a long time ago.

Back when we were
in Brown town,

I used to dream of a zipline.

I've been, kind of, uh,
looking into it a little bit and all.

It, it seems like
it's possible.

Like if we put
multiple ziplines in different strategic areas

where we could all,
like, zip down to central locations.

Is that even doable?

My dad, he's always
had a saying,

It's the fun things that help
with morale and bringing everybody back together.

So, the idea is that
eventually, like,

gummy bears or something,
we're gonna be able to zip

from one area of the property
to the other.

Spanning across
their 400 acres,

the Brown zipline
will connect each sibling's parcel of land

via an intricate system
of cables.

All leading
to the family's main house.

Extreme!

We'll look at the house,
how far it is to start with.

And then look over the edge.

Oh, man, be scary as hell.

- Who dibs first? What?
- We dibs first.

We're the top of the age bracket.

Okay...

Let's get a move on.

Are we gonna do, like,
a platform jump off... situation?

'Cause that's already
a pretty good drop just from here.

With
a plan for a web of ziplines in motion,

the Browns begin on
the longest

and most important line
of their system,

a 300 yard route
that will connect their main house

to an anchor point
near the entrance of their Ranch,

a central hub
for the family's construction materials.

That one's too small I think.

This guy, he's tilting
towards the road and looks a little tiny.

First, they'll need
to build a platform on a sturdy tree.

That tree.
That's been here for a while.

He's strong, he's good,
he's good to go.

I think this one's
about the only one we really could go to.

The anchor tree for
the zipline is very important,

because it needs to withstand
the amount of weight,

that we're going to be
putting on it.

If it isn't strong enough,

the zipline will be
too dangerous,

and weak for anybody to use.

All right.

That's the tree
we're going with then.

- We're settled.
- Okay.

This zipline is not
only great for bringing everybody together.

It's also really practical.

So instead of having
to drive all of our materials,

all the way around the valley
to get to the house.

We stop on the corner and
just start sending stuff down.

So what do you think,
do you want me to scale up this bad boy?

The easiest thing to do
would be to get Noah's pole saw.

There's no reason
to climb up there and...

Try to hang on with your legs
while you're sawing.

haul some of this out of our way,

get to the tree.

There's
so much work to go from where we are right now

to the actual dream.

But, Rome wasn't built
in a day.

And it wasn't built
by one guy.

trimming while you try to get that started.

Looks like the wrong tool

This zipline really is the
embodiment of what it means to live in the bush,

and what it means
to be a Brown.

and try and enjoy the ride.

for this zipline.

That's what I'm envisioning.

I think that's at least
good until we can get up there

with that platform.

Birdy and I used
to talk quite a bit.

Up in Alaska, it was kind of
a conscious choice,

for one to hang out
and do things.

But here we have
so much space to be able to spread out,

that it kinda
makes it difficult.

One of the ways
that Birdy and I bond,

we collect the corpses.

Let's see if we can
find the skull.

at least I got some of the jaw.

I love Bird's bone tree.

So how are you
adjusting living up here with nothing but cats?

I definitely miss the commotion

of, like, living
with everyone.

to the idea that

someone might come along.

What kind of characteristics
would you be interested in?

to like animals. Obviously.

the guy that appreciates

that you hang bones
from a tree like some sort of witch.

with the cats.

To be honest, that is
what I would lead in with.

So, like, this is a guy,

I live with all of them,
they sleep on top of me like a blanket.

No matter how strange
and how different someone is,

there's always someone out
there that fits with them.

And if she's actually
at the point where maybe she'll try to find the one,

that is awesome
and I'd be happy for her.

And also have a shovel
if it doesn't turn out right.

a daunting 1,100 foot trek
over untamed land.

and I have actually searched for a lot of gold.

they're found together.

or was at one time gold in this vicinity.

It's as if it's overflowed.

there might be
a mine in this vicinity.

With a trail of quartz
like this,

you could be very close
to the jackpot of gold.

We have a lot of mines
on the property

that we haven't explored
before so,

it's definitely something
I want to investigate.

Perfect to get
the workout in, too,

Bear, I think this is
the actual shaft.

I'm a little surprised to find this mine shaft,

it's kind of off
the beaten path,

it just means there might be
even more mines that I don't know about.

With the zipline
in progress right now

is the perfect time
to start looking into the gold a little bit more.

I think it is in line with
what Dad's trying to achieve.

and it's adventure, and it's fun.

we had movie nights, every night.

It's kind of our thing.

Dinner and a movie, it was one
of those things that brought us close together

and kept us that way.

most of the gold was started on this mountain?

this place was
extremely active.

Dad's always been
very interested in gold mining

and gold in general.

So, he's the best person
to go to when it comes to the samples

and we're really coming up
with a solid plan.

In the early 1900s,

gold strikes in
Okanogan County, Washington

catapulted Loomis
into a mining boom town.

And Palmer mountain
was ground zero.

But miners ran
out of time and money,

never working the land
to its full potential.

To this day,

many locals believe
the biggest strike

still lies undiscovered.

The gold did not play out
on this mountain.

The gold became where
it was easier to get other places,

and it just wasn't worth doing
it anymore.

But uh, gold, silver,

I don't think they ever
quit finding it is what I'm saying.

It's a form

I've been working on
a ton of stuff lately.

I've had to actually
schedule out my day.

come inside and tinker.

Noah sets a new plan
in motion,

to take the Browns
to even greater heights.

Growing up,
we all spent a lot of time on boats.

Some of my fondest memories
were actually on those boats.

Our boat was kinda
one of those nostalgic things from Alaska.

I have this memory
on an old skiff,

and we were pretending
that we were sky pilots.

Dad's adamant
about trying to make sure

that we're all a close family,
like we have been.

So, I came up with the idea,
"I can actually build a boat,

that flies."

I've always loved
the Da Vinci designs.

Da Vinci made several
flying machines.

Uh, I believe he flew
a couple of the model versions.

One of my favorites
is actually his flying boat design.

I wanna do
a little bit of it.

I'm going to make a sky boat.

This is the miniature
prototype version of my sky boat.

It's going to be buoyant
because of the balloon of Helium.

I'm actually going
to use gigantic fans.

So, if this is your fan,
it's going to tilt like this,

and then, backward.

I know the dimensions
of the sky boat.

It's going to be about
16 to 20 feet.

I think
I have the materials that I need,

in order to be able
to actually take to the skies.

How many movies,
or stories does someone have a flying airship?

but I'm not sure it was to find gold.

investigate the deepest mine they've found,

almost 300 feet
below ground.

This is the last
mine that we found in this vicinity,

and it's one of the last mines
that we haven't explored.

This one is deeper
than all the other ones.

The plan to lower Bear
down is, hook him up with a harness

tethered around a tree,

and slowly hoist him down
by hand.

All right,
that's supposed to be against that.

This is what we have.

It doesn't have
to be perfect. It's close enough, I think.

Or some ingredient could be
what keeps you alive.

Bear is the perfect guy
for this job because he is extreme,

and doesn't care

the materials needed,

to take flight.

in Rory's junkyard.

I need to take a look
at all four of them.

The idea aspects of the boat
that I am looking for,

is something small,
something light-weight,

something large enough
that it can house all the materials I need.

If I can lift the front of it
without any problem,

we should be good to go.

Oh, that's kinda cute.

This is the first
roof pizza I've made.

kind of gives it a nice, distinct, kinda iron flavor.

I do like to throw
a little bit of a pizza party,

but not many people
want to eat my pizza sadly.

It's a little bit
not their taste.

I use barbecue sauce.

It gives it a sweeter taste.

But I don't have cheese.

And so,
a good alternative is...

cheese chips.

And then you kind of
just crush them.

Some pickles which is
baby dill pickles.

And then I have the best part
which is the chocolate sauce.

You really got to go
heavy on this stuff.

The Browns
push forward on the most expansive project

North Star Ranch has seen.

A zipline that father Billy
hopes will unite every corner

of the Browns' 400 acre ranch.

With supplies in place,

the siblings return
to the assembly of the first line.

We will tighten this a bit.

Connect it on to the tractor.

The next crucial step.

Raising the haywire.

Which will act as a guide
for the zipline cable high above the treeline.

Dad wants
to build a huge zipline.

His idea is that it will bring
everybody closer together.

This zipline will be
the embodiment of what it means to live in the bush.

We fix this up.

So that the cable's attached
under the tractor.

Then I'm going to slowly
start going forwards.

As I'm pulling it,
this cable is going to raise. - Right.

- Quite a bit
- Ideally.

And as it does, it's going to
come to contact with branches.

It will snap
if it hits something.

So you wanna hold
if I tell y'all to hold. - Exactly.

One short howl for stop.

- And two short howls to go.
- Two short howls to go. Okay.

Any time you're dealing with a cable

that's being pulled
super tight,

one of the main problems
that it could have is to snap.

Don't forget
to tarp that thing.

We don't want
to whiplash anybody.

All we need to do is put
these things over the cable.

That thing could
literally take limbs off, it could kill you.

So people want to keep
their distance from it in case it snaps.

Sounds like Bear's ready.

Here we go.

Oh, that was a limb.

Definitely tensed,
ain't it?

Oh, I heard a snap.

I thought it was the tree.

I'm gonna lose
the rope. It's not long enough.

Round one didn't go so well.

It goes to the forest
instead of the Browns

It caught on the way out,
snapping.

Fraying a bunch of it
and whiplashing back.

The attachment that we had
holding it must have broken.

I mean, do we have enough
to just do it again?

Why don't we all grab
on to it and see if we can pull enough slack

to get it to the tractor.

It actually might
have been a good thing,

that the first round
didn't really go in our favor,

because now we know
exactly what to do to make it work perfectly.

If we put three or four more
of these on it, that should work.

Just because something
doesn't work doesn't mean you give up.

Dad's idea for this
was a zipline.

That's super important
to keep going.

Okay, do I un-hook?

- Yeah, un-hook it all.

Looks like there's a lot
happening on the ranch right now.

You know, zipline,
working together.

We're working to find gold
which I know Dad and Rain are excited about.

We're good to go
to give it a shot.

I think it definitely did what Dad wanted it to do.

It definitely brought
all of us closer together,

and family is what matters.

We've had one dream.

For a long time.

It's to live life our way.

The zipline, it opens up
that sort of thing on a ranch.

It's more important
than anything to keep family together.

It is our best hope
to actually live a life we want to.
