I'm in Atlanta, Georgia,

and I'm looking for the next HGTV Smart Home 2024.

This year, we're doing a renovation, versus a new build,

which I'm really excited about.

I'm headed to meet with my realtor, Mark,

and he has told me he has some promising properties for me.

-Hi, how are you? -How are you?

Okay, so we've narrowed it down to three,

I think, really good opportunities in the area.

Okay.

This particular house falls right in line

-with the square footage you said you wanted. -Okay.

-Two bed, two bath. Okay. -Yep.

I'm definitely looking for something

I can dramatically change the floor plan, too.

Well, there's one house.

This is a four-bedroom. It's very dated.

-Wow. -It's gonna need a little love.

[Tiffany] A lot of love.

[Mark] To bring...to bring your dream about.

Okay, and the square footage, 2,035.

-Yep. -That's workable.

I have a friend, his name is Joe Mazza.

-He helps me out with these builds. -Mmm-hmm.

So I really, really want to get him to this property,

and both of us walk it together,

just to get his thoughts and his stamp of approval.

Let's get it set up.

[Tiffany] Joe's gonna meet me at the house

that I think might be the winner.

He's a seasoned home inspector,

so I really want his perspective.

I love it.

I have all of these ideas for it,

but I need Joe's eyes on it.

Joe!

What do you think?

I like the outside.

Oh, my God, it's so great to see you.

This one has a ton of potential.

I'm seeing a different roofline,

different colors,

maybe adding some different materials on the side.

Mmm-hmm.

So I really wanted to get you here

and have you take a look at it.

The curb appeal is, like, "Eh."

-[Tiffany] Yeah? -[Mark] Like, very, "Eh."

But again, potential.

How's the inside?

You wanna take a peek?

-Oh, I definitely take a peek. -All right.

[Mark] I hope the AC is on.

Okay...

Yeah, you walk in, like,

the first thing you see is this wall.

[Tiffany] Wall.

-Yeah. -What is this? A closet right here?

Cloak closet? Nah.

So here's the main area here.

[Mark] Look at that ceiling. I like the fireplace.

This is beautiful, right?

I can really turn this into a focal point, too.

[Mark] Yeah.

So this is a little pass-through dining area.

[Mark] Okay.

[Tiffany] Random wet bar.

This entire section I want gone.

-It has a ton of potential, right? -A ton.

In here is the kitchen.

[Mark] Nice!

[Tiffany laughs]

[Mark] This is '80s right here.

-[Tiffany] Yeah, way back. -[Mark] This is straight '80s.

But what do you think overall? Structure wise.

There's no big cracks, there's no big slopes.

See, if you stand here,

you can see a teeny bit of the fireplace.

Imagine opening up all this right there,

and your kitchen is now in with the dining room,

which is now in with the living room.

[Tiffanny] That's music to my ears.

Let's go outside, please, please.

I see a deck out here.

[Tiffany] Wow.

[Mark] Big backyard.

It's a huge yard.

[Tiffany] I want to make this deck even bigger.

[Mark] This is a huge deck, too.

You wanted to wrap it down there, though.

[Tiffany] Yeah, wrap it down there.

[Mark] I like that idea.

And there's a reason why I like that idea.

Okay.

These railings, less than 36 inches,

which poses a safety hazard.

Also, you have your baluster spacing

which is more than four inches.

Typically, it's four inches or less.

-Okay -So by extending it...

-We touch it all and we fix it all. -Touch it all.

That's it. Done. Safe.

Potential, potential, potential.

The deck also connects to the primary bedroom.

Okay, so this is the main bedroom suite.

-[Mark] Okay. -[Tiffany] Oh!

That's funky looking.

[Mark] What is this wall like this?

I don't know. Let's look on the other side.

[Mark] Why would you do that?

That's it, right there.

Well, they build an awkward-shaped closet.

Okay, closet-bathroom flip maybe.

Fine. Done it. I've done that before.

[Tiffany] I just want this room

to feel like a sleep sanctuary.

If you want to go to the deck, you just walk right out.

[Tiffany] I love that feature.

Let's go upstairs and check out the rest of space.

Let's go.

Up here, there are three rooms,

another bath, and a laundry room.

We got to get a handrail here.

Yeah. I want the stairs to be open.

[Joe] Okay, good.

[Tiffany] And enlarging these windows

could be transformational.

I am hot.

Turn the AC on.

[Tiffany] We have...

-[Mark] Bedroom. -[Tiffany] Bedroom.

-[Tiffany] Bedroom. -[Mark] Bedroom.

So up here, we can have two bedrooms.

We'll renovate the laundry room and the bathroom.

And one of these rooms can possibly be

like an office or a gym.

I am in love with this space

because there is so much potential.

I think we found ourselves a house.

I think we did, too. I like it.

[Tiffany] HGTV Smart Home 2024.

Our offer on the house was accepted.

Now it's ours, and it's time to go to work.

[Mark] Demo time, baby.

Tiffany made a phenomenal decision on this one.

It's not in horrible shape.

But that being said,

right now, the curb appeal is not good.

And inside, the layout is chopped-up and awkward.

Tiffany's still working on the design plan.

Well, we know we want an open layout on the first floor.

We are gonna be taking walls down

and making this house wide open,

making it absolutely gorgeous.

[Tiffany] Most of these walls are gone.

Good.

We'll take the sheetrock down on both sides.

-We'll assess what's going on. -Okay.

-And then we go from there. -Okay.

It's like a whole new world!

Here we go.

[Tiffany] This is gonna be gorgeous!

[Mark] Okay.

Now look at this here.

It's double studded.

Maybe even triple studded.

This is a load-bearing wall.

-[Tiffany] Oh, yeah. Okay. -[Mark] There you go.

Once you start hitting the studs down,

that second floor can drop down on us.

[Tiffany] Oh, that's a hell, no.

You know, that's a load-bearing wall.

It is what it is. It's fine.

Now we know what we gotta do.

You know, we just can't break it all down yet.

We gotta put a bearing wall here,

a bearing wall on that side,

then you can take this all down,

and they can put the steel beam up there.

[in sing-song voice] I have an open-concept here.

I'm so inspired.

Can you, like, see the design vision

happening in front of me right now?

Yeah, that's what happens. You're opening walls up.

We rocking and rolling.

Smart Home 2024 is gonna be amazing.

With the house gutted,

I'm starting to come up with the design plan

for the HGTV Smart Home 2024.

And priority number one

is improving our curb appeal by removing the old garage.

We're gonna to rebuild it

with a dramatic mid-century modern roofline.

We're creating a bold, new profile

with a black metal roof that will be so dramatic.

Then we're adding a bunch of geometric shapes

with two super-long windows in the front,

and triangular windows in the garage.

And blocks of different color siding

will give the house even more dimension.

With so much going on, I'm bringing in

my friend, Lauren Makk, to help me with this one.

And today, we're going over the new interior design plan.

Oh, my gosh!

Ah!

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Girl, this house is on fire.

I'm obsessed with the architecture.

Yes, this was going to look like

-that contemporary spin... -[Lauren] Yeah.

...on your traditional mid-century modern house.

[Lauren] So cool.

Wow!

[Tiffany] So this is the great room.

[Lauren] I am obsessed.

The fireplace, the ceilings,

-the skylights. -[Tiffany] Oh, yeah.

[Lauren] I just love it.

This room itself is going to have

-a couple of focal points. -Okay.

[Tiffany] The room will center around the fireplace,

which will get a tile accent wall

that goes all the way to the ceiling.

A wall of glass on one side

will connect the inside to the wrap-around deck outside.

On the opposite side will be a wall of built in bookshelf

with a TV and a custom desk.

Huge skylights will bring in tons of light,

and we'll keep the furniture neutral, modern and sleek.

So this used to be the dining room.

-[Lauren] Wow. -[Tiffany] We are turning this into the kitchen.

The center of the kitchen will be a massive island.

One side will have a sink and tons of cabinets.

The other side will have a built-in bench,

which will go along with a huge dining table.

We'll have more cabinets

and a long countertop over here.

Then we'll do a backsplash

in the same material as the countertop,

and add a dramatic hood for the stove.

So what's the vision for outside?

So there used to be a deck

that started right about here.

So we ripped that out,

and we're adding a huge wrap-around deck

that spans the entire backyard.

So there's gonna be a lounge area there,

an outdoor kitchen,

and then a separate space off the primary suite,

that will be extra private and tranquil.

Okay, let me take you into the main bedroom.

The primary bedroom will be a serene sanctuary

with huge windows, and a door right to the deck.

On the other side,

built-in wardrobes and window seats

will make the room cozy and warm.

We'll finish the room in organic decor

and lots of textures.

Let's go see the main bath.

[both] Okay.

[Tiffany] What we're doing is we're putting a wet room in.

-I love those. -[Lauren] Oh, yes.

[Tiffany] And right here is where

the water closet's gonna be.

-Ah-ha. -So we just made the floor plan

-make sense. -Yes.

-Let's head upstairs. -Awesome.

[Tiffany] A dramatic stairway with two-story windows

will lead upstairs,

where there will be two more bedrooms

and a media room,

with a full bath and laundry room.

The layout will stay the same, but we're gonna figure out

smart ways to use the space better.

I am in love with this space

because there is so much potential.

[Lauren] This is a designer's dream.

[Tiffany] Yeah, I'm excited.

Now that our home has a new profile,

it's time to start putting it back together.

That means a ton of new windows.

Including massive vertical windows

for the front atrium.

And huge geometric windows in our new garage.

Without changing the footprint all that much,

we've radically altered

the exterior architecture of our home.

The next step will be adding a ton of new skylights.

The visual of this house from the last time I was here

has completely transformed.

I mean, the garage alone.

It is not boring anymore. It is massive.

-Scott. -[Scott] Hey, Joe.

What's up, brother?

-This is coming along. -Yeah.

[Joe] This really has come along.

Now we have this huge open-floor plan.

So we have what, one, two, three, four--

We have six skylights going in this room.

[Scott] These aren't your old-school skylights.

-[Joe] Okay. -These are actually solar powered.

-Well, nice. -They will automatically vent open

in certain cases.

So if it senses carbon dioxide,

it's gonna vent automatically.

-Just like that? -Just like that.

And if it rains, it will close your skylight.

That's amazing.

So you have the spray foam on the walls,

energy efficiency is there.

And the skylights are solar powered.

That's it. This room just pays for itself.

Oh, yeah.

[Tiffany] Altogether, we're putting in 12 skylights,

which is going to make it flooded with natural light.

While I'm working on our house in Atlanta,

I sent my buddy, Brian Patrick Flynn,

to surprise the winner of last year's Smart Home.

I am in Johnson City, Tennessee,

because I'm here to surprise

the winner of HGTV's Smart Home 2023

in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The winner is Stacy Braswell.

She's a married mom,

and she works as an administrative assistant

at a dental office.

She thinks the dentist's office where she works

to make some cabinet selections

for the kitchen and pantry.

So do you want to start with the cabinet?

[Tiffany] Let's go with the cabinets.

If we can get these picked out,

I feel like a lot of my other decisions will come easy.

[Lauren] Absolutely.

So what I want to do

is a very subtle nod

-to mid-century modern. -Mmm. Mmm-hmm.

With all of the raised paneling...

-[Lauren] Yeah. -I think that's too traditional.

What do you think?

You're trying to go for a more modern look, so...

-Yeah, -That's not for that.

[Tiffany] I'm landing somewhere in between these two.

You know, I love a flat panel.

I think it's always a great way

to kind of modernize.

Do you know what other colors

you would be able to get this in?

I actually have some ready to go.

We can go with a lot of different

color options here.

Painted, stained...

I am thinking that we go with a stained option.

[Scott] White oak is a really popular option.

That's this one here.

And what's really coming into play now

are these walnuts.

-I love the walnut. -I love the walnut, too.

[Tiffany] It has a little bit of touch of the black veining.

I love it. I think it's perfect.

[Scott] Would you want to do the same cabinets in the pantry,

or would you want to do something different?

I think that we should probably

do something different.

But, that matches, obviously.

Dark gray or a black.

-Oh, yeah. -[Lauren] Yeah, that's great.

[Tiffany] That is awesome together.

It's gonna be so beautiful.

that's so special?

Ah, the people, you know?

A lot of people started moving to Atlanta,

and we have embraced them.

Keep coming. We love beautiful, smart people

from all over the world and the country.

[Tiffany] They look like they were made with love.

And it smells so good in here.

We're really leaning in to this modern look

by creating a distinctive roofline.

And the roofing material we've chosen

is gonna bring it all together.

Today, I get to meet Russ.

Russ is installing the roofing system here.

We got the metal roofing going in.

Life span of, what are we talking, like, 50 years, maybe?

Two to three life cycles of an average shingle roof?

[Joe] I love that.

You know, and this is really good for, like,

you know, heavy rains right off of it,

snow, fall ice.

-It just slides right off. -Yes, sir.

[Joe] How much longer you think we have here, to get this done?

We're looking at about three or four more days out here.

Okay. All right. I'm gonna go down.

[Tiffany] This house is incredible.

It's come a long way, huh?

I'm gonna meet up with Scott and Darius

and we're going over all things landscaping.

So much has happened!

A lot's going on.

So we have more trees

being put in the yard, correct?

-[Darius] Yes. -[Scott] A couple of trees up front,

and then, closer to the house, on the corners,

we're gonna add some trees,

but they're gonna be a little shorter.

-So about 6-feet tall. - [Tiffany] Okay.

And I know we're planning on doing a living wall

on the side of the garage, which will look amazing.

And in addition to the landscaping out here,

right inside those two-story windows,

there's gonna be a garden inside the house.

-So it's all about the interior and the exterior. -Oh, yeah.

We have ourselves a backyard!

[Scott] Yeah, look at this deck.

[Tiffany] It's monstrous!

[Darius] Close to 800-square-foot.

[Tiffany] That's an outdoor room.

[Scott] Oh, that's an outdoor house.

[Tiffany] Yes.

I need a selection from you

on what color deck we're gonna be installing.

All right.

Hands down, I'm gonna go with the light.

The reason is because I have so much dark

happening on the exterior of the house.

I want something that, softly, will contrast it,

and that looks a lot more modern.

This deck will last you 50 years.

What's the name of this?

That one is caramel.

Cara-mel!

It's car-mel.

This is the color that I want.

-Car-mel, cara-mel. -Yeah, it's going to be great out here.

Lauren is going to flip when she pulls up,

to see the progress of this house.

We are in great shape.

It is everything you said it was going to be...

-[Tiffany] Yes. -[Lauren] ...and so much more.

-You're able to now see right through this house. -Love it.

Lauren, do you wanna see the primary?

All right, this is the primary bedroom.

-Oh, wow! -This is what I'm calling

the Smart Sleep Sanctuary.

[Lauren] Look at these trees, though, Tiffany.

-I mean... -[Tiffany] I know.

This is exactly a sanctuary.

-It is a sanctuary. -Yeah.

And then we have the bed.

This smart bed from Sleep Number...

You're allowed to adjust your comfort as you need to.

Oh.

The Atlanta winters can get kind of cold.

-They can get chilly. -Yes, they can.

So you can have chilly feet

-and go to bed with a foot-warming feature... -Ooh!

...while the bed is balancing your temperature

-everywhere else. -Ooh-ooh.

[Lauren] Let me show you this flooring that we're gonna use.

This is the actual sample.

It is on an 11-inch plank.

[Lauren] Oh, I love it, girl.

[Tiffany] The color goes with just about anything.

And it's super durable, scratch resistant,

water resistant.

So whoever wins the HGTV Smart Home,

...whether they have kids, pets or they just live hard,

this floor is going to go right with it.

[Lauren] I love it.

This is one of the biggest days of this entire project.

Let's try it right here, you guys.

I cannot wait to get inside that house and see the magic

[Tiffany] I am so excited about the progress of the house.

Today Lauren and I are looking at the upstairs room

and trying to pick some paint colors.

This is going to be bedroom number two in here.

Ooh!

So what I wanted to do is get your idea

around some of the color choices that I have in here.

So this year, with a HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams,

We're curating a color collection

for the HGTV Smart Home 2024.

So in here, I really, really want

to go with this soft sandy color.

And I want to use some spots

where I can do some color blocking on the walls.

I will go really well

with the shapes of the skylights.

[Lauren] Yes.

So I was thinking somewhere in possibly here,

-in these tones. -[Lauren] Ooh! I love this.

This is gorgeous.

-[Tiffany] I think this is the palette. -[Lauren] Love it.

Okay, so in this next room...

This is gonna be like our media room.

Now in here

what I wanted to do is just bathe the walls in this color.

[Lauren] Yes, girl.

The great thing about working with this palette

is that you create a harmonious color palette.

Whether it be in your furniture,

your decor or your art.

Takes the guesswork out of it.

It does.

The exterior of our smart home is being transformed

with a dark and moody color.

And the decks are starting to get installed

in the front and back of the house.

[motor whirring]

Inside, the bathrooms are starting to take shape,

and our wide plank, wide oak flooring is going in,

making our whole house feel light and bright.

We're five months into this renovation,

and inside we'll bring in the midcentury modern,

with sleek kitchen and pantry cabinets.

Above the fireplace oversized tile are also adding

to the midcentury vibe.

And some of our bold color choices are going in.

We're even doing a custom mural

on the ceiling of one of the guest rooms.

But I really want this house to have

some real Atlanta flavor.

So for our atrium light, we're going super local.

Lauren and I are going to Decatur Glassblowing

to see if we can come up with a custom light fixture for the house.

Glass blowing. Have you ever?

[Lauren] I've done a lot of things, but not glassblowing.

-This... is... cool! -Wow. Awesome.

-[Lauren] Hi. -[Tiffany] Hey.

Come over and take a look at some of the basic mock ups

we've been putting together.

-Oh wow! -Wow.

-And so-- -Very cool.

-Yeah. -[Nate] Thank you.

What color options do we have?

We have this white that's got a little bit more variation in it.

We have a-- a denser white we could also go with.

I'm somewhere here just to make it a little bit more interesting.

[Nate] I think so. Let me show--

show it to you with the light on.

-Yeah, I'm definitely here. -[Lauren] Yeah.

-What do you think? -[Lauren] Yeah. I love that, too.

Maybe we'll jump in today and see if we can get at least

maybe one of these made with some teamwork going on.

So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna gather up

some clear glass out of our furnace here.

Holds about 200 pounds of molten clear glass.

-A little bit over 2000 degrees. -Okay.

Oh! That looks hot.

You start turning with your left hand

rolling turn, turn, turn, turn, keep turning.

[Tiffany] Ooh!

[Nate] All right. Now it's time to blow it.

-So I'm gonna rest it back on this rail here. -[Lauren] Phew!

[Nate] Keep it turning. It's like you're blowing up a balloon.

-[Lauren] Come on, Tiffany. -[Nate] You're getting it?

-You can do it-- -Stop! Stop! Stop, stop, stop!

All right, now we're gonna add our white color pattern.

-All right? -Okay.

Two hands on this behind mine,

and then we're just turning and drizzling it.

[Tiffany] Oh...

[Nate] All right. Now we're ready to start blowing our piece out.

[Tiffany] Okay?

This is an absolute incredible project.

After months of hard work,

we're on our final punch list.

Including installing all new state of the art appliances

in the laundry room, pantry and kitchen.

Tiffany was not able to make it out of Chicago.

The weather's been really crazy there,

but the house is in great shape.

It is phenomenal.

The finishes are so beautiful.

The skylights are in incredible

the view outside--

[screams in excitement]

This is incredible.

The lighting around this room,

the double wardrobes,

the window seats, the-the floors.

I'm just obsessed.

I can't wait to see this bathroom, too.

Hey, what are you doing, girl?

That's beautiful?

[Lauren] Ah! This is amazing.

[Kara] It turned out so well.

[Lauren] All right, well, I know you guys

have put so much hard work

into all of these details, but the work ain't done, Girl.

I just saw the truck drive up.

This is one of the biggest days

of this entire project.

And we have two full trucks,

so it kind of needs to like keep moving.

They're starting to get stuff off the truck.

We have a lot of people. We have a lot of furniture.

[Lauren] We've got to figure out where we want to put this

beautiful big green sofa.

If it's here, it could be blocking the view.

-[Kara] I know. -But if it's here, it makes sense.

Let's try it right here, you guys.

-Centered on the fireplace. -[Lauren] Yeah.

Yeah, I think that's beautiful.

[Lauren] That's gonna be great.

Oh, my gosh, you guys.

So tell me about the plants that are in here currently.

So we chose some Georgia natives

-that are evergreen all year long. -Oh, right.

We got lamb's ear for some nice soft texture.

right outside the primary suite.

we're adding a whole home security system with 24/7 monitoring.

And the best part is it can be professionally or self-installed.

Inside the media room is coming together

with a gallery wall of vintage sports memorabilia.

So I'm gonna fill the whole wall all the way around the TV.

This is a TV that can split into four

so people can watch, like four games at once.

-Whoa! -But we also have artwork to go on the TV.

So it'll look a part of the gallery wall when it's off.

So I was thinking right here.

I've been stuck in Chicago for the past couple of days,

but my girl Lauren hit a home run.

She and the whole team worked so hard.

Now I've got a couple more decisions to make,

and then I can show Joe everything that we've done.

When I'm designing these spaces,

I'm looking for opportunities to layer things.

Can I layer a blanket over a chair?

It just makes it feel more like home.

Last time I was here, they were putting the metal roof on.

Now everything else has been done.

I cannot wait to get inside that house and just see the magic.

Look at this house.

How gorgeous has this come out?

The landscape, the decking, the siding.

-[Tiffany] Mr. Joseph Mazza. -Hello.

Did you feel welcome?

Welcome. I'm ready to sit down here,

have a nice cup of coffee and relax.

-[Tiffany] Isn't it great? -Yeah.

Now this is a before and after

This is a serious before and after.

[Joe] Remember, at the front of the home,

it was sloped down to the driveway.

[Tiffany] Yeah.

[Joe] Now we blew it up, and it's sloped the opposite way.

[Tiffany] It's gorgeous.

The curb appeal that you brought to this home.

-[Tiffany] Yeah. -I mean, this living wall right here.

-[Tiffany] I know. Isn't it a great touch? -[Joe] Yeah.

[Tiffany] And the thing is, the maintenance

-on this is so easy. -Okay.

You can literally irrigate it with a hose

-or the rain will simply collect on it. -Exactly.

-And then you have this gorgeous walkway. -[Tiffany] Yes.

[Joe] This massive garage door,

the lighting on the outside.

I was very nervous about playing with the geometry

and all the different window sizes and shapes,

but I feel like it worked out amazing.

[Joe] The outside looks this good.

I can just imagine--

[Tiffany] What the inside looks.

-I would love to show you inside. -Please.

[Tiffany] All right.

Whoa!

Oh, my Lord.

That is what I'm talking about.

[Tiffany] Crazy, right?

You don't walk into that wall.

Right? There was a big wall here.

This is inviting.

-[Tiffany] It's actually kinda beautiful. -Yeah.

-[Tiffany] Remember, the fireplace? -[Joe] Was stone.

-[Tiffany] Everything was so heavy in here. -[Joe] Yeah.

[Tiffany] I just reached for everything light.

You wanna know what's so great?

-What? -Is how many functions

I have crammed into this one space.

We have a library.

-All right. -[Tiffany] Perfect place to read a book by your fire.

There's an area to watch television.

That's the TV.

It can be art when you want it in chill mode.

And it is a home office with a hidden feature.

Way to go?

-[Joe] No way -[Tiffany] Isn't it cool?

[Joe] It's so clean.

Now, One thing that I absolutely love

about this house was the flooring that selected.

They're almost 11 inches.

And they have this modern contemporary type of vibe.

And they're durable, which is very important, too,

especially by main entrance walking in.

Before, we only had two skylights.

-[Tiffany] Yes. -[Joe] Now we have six.

[Tiffany] That natural light is just flooding in.

This is absolutely phenomenal.

[Tiffany] This area felt so small,

now It's wide open, fresh, light and airy.

No matter where you're standing,

you're a part of the action.

The old kitchen was so dated,

and I wanted to keep it midcentury modern.

So I went with the flat faced, flat panel cabinetry.

It looks like we don't have that much story

because everything is kind of low lying.

There's nothing on the walls.

But when you open the cabinetry

and you see how deep these drawers are?

-[Joe] Oh, yeah. -It's next level.

Now the appliance game in here is sick too.

This dishwasher has an additional third rack.

-[Joe] Ah! -Yep.

[Joe] That makes life easy.

[Tiffany] Yes.

And then the refrigerator.

I love it.

It's a four door refrigerator.

My problem is, is that I have that drawer freezer.

[Joe] Me, too.

And everything is stacked on top of another.

So if I wanted to get to a pizza that I bought,

-a month ago, I have to move everything out. -[Joe] Right.

With that, that solves all of my problems.

And it's a very, very sleek design,

-Neat and organized. -Neat and organized.

That is what I wanted to go for with this house.

Smart plugs.

[Joe] I love these.

Yes, just like that monitor.

It hides away when you don't want it.

We have a smart oven with seven cooking modes.

-It offers true convection cookies. -[Joe] Okay.

It also has an air fryer mode.

So you don't have to have that big bulky--

You don't have to have that. No!

It's another way of being smart about how you're living.

-[Joe] Of course. -Let me show you the hardest

working pantry in the business.

There is so much in here.

-I know. -Ooh!

Water dispenser.

[Joe] It takes up no room.

It's pushed against the wall almost.

We have this supercharged beverage station.

Including a blender for smoothies,

a grain cooker and an espresso machine.

You have your microwave over here.

Tons of storage on the top.

[Joe] I love it.

[Tiffany] Joe, I also installed a compost machine.

-[Joe] This right here? -[Tiffany] Yes.

The great thing about it is that it works overnight.

Then you can just take it and put it right outside of your vegetables garden.

[Tiffany] Exactly.

[Joe] Smart ideas. Coming from you.

-Smart. -[Joe] Very smart. Very smart.

All right, so this is what I'm calling

this ultimate sleep sanctuary.

And you, my friend, are about to see why.

-It's restful. -[Joe] Yeah.

It is a retreat.

Just perimeter light ceiling, LED light.

-[Tiffany] Yes. -[Joe] It's so cool.

[Tiffany] And coming up with different layers of lighting

is part of creating a serene sleep environment.

So do you remember what it used to look like in here?

[Joe] I remember it being boring

and bland and blah, blah, blah.

[Tiffany] Yes.

Isn't it great?

Texture, touchable softness.

We made amazing use of the space.

-[Joe] I see that. -[Tiffany] Supercharged closet.

They're massive and they're functional.

[Joe] Yeah, and it's sleek.

All of the curtains.

-Room darkening. -[Joe] Oh yeah.

[Tiffany] Voice activated Roman shades.

But the star of the show, is this smart bed?

This bed has so many features.

No two people, sleep alike.

-Yep. -So we can adjust our different

firmness and softness settings separately.

-[Joe] Okay. -[Tiffany] Not only that,

it has temperature balancing features.

-Somebody is gonna win this smart home 2024. -[Tiffany] Oh yeah.

-And sleep like they've never slept before. -[Tiffany] Yes.

So you remember how disjointed the bathroom was?

[Joe] Yeah, ugly.

[Tiffany] We blew it all open,

and we started with a floor plan that made sense.

There's two showers in here.

And then a soaking tub.

Add some gorgeous hardware.

[Joe] Ooh.

And a pretty vanity.

[Joe] That's a long vanity.

-[Tiffany] And there's a ton of storage. -[Joe] There you go.

[Tiffany] Every square inch in here. It just-- it just works.

[Joe] Yeah.

[Tiffany] And we can't forget about this powder room

between the primary suite and the kitchen.

[Joe] This is nice.

[Tiffany] All right, I'm gonna show you upstairs.

The stairs look completely different.

Do you remember how enclosed this was?

Now it's wide open.

The natural light is pouring in.

[Joe] These windows are huge.

[Tiffany] And we've created a lush indoor garden underneath.

This light, me and Lauren blew two of the glass pieces.

-Did you really? -Yeah.

-I built you a sports lounge? -Oh, yeah.

[Tiffany] This room was so boring before.

This is where I'll be hanging out right here.

This, my friend, is a television.

-[Joe] Oh no! -[Tiffany] Yep.

[Joe] I didn't even realize that.

[Joe] So you nailed this room. Okay?

I'm gonna show you this laundry room.

So, Joe, we took this space

and made it into a laundry room.

Another splash of color

and another design trick that I used.

I took the flooring and I ran it up the wall

just to soften it up and warm this space up a little bit.

[Joe] That's smart.

-[Tiffany] Now I put an extension on... -[Joe] Okay.

-...for the laundry. -Okay.

-[Tiffany] So in here, it's just your normal closet. -[Joe] All right?

[Tiffany] I have a hamper right here.

[Joe] There you go.

And my absolute most favorite thing ever.

We have this pullout ironing board.

[Joe] How convenient is that?

I legit iron my clothes all the time.

I forgot about the last cool thing.

-What? -[motor whirring]

It's a vacuum.

That sucks off the mess.

-Love that smart, again. -Smart.

[chuckles]

So this bathroom I'm really excited about.

I love the color in here.

The tile work.

-Aren't they gorgeous? -[Joe] They are.

How they're laying.

Incorporates this modern field,

which really goes with the mid-century modern theme of the house.

We have nothing from the original bathroom.

[Joe] This looks good.

Joseph!

Yes, Tiffany?

-Whoa! Whoa! -[Tiffany whoops]

-[squeals] Look at this room. -[Joe chuckles]

[Tiffany] I had a local artist come in and paint these.

It takes a boring room...

and it gives so much personality.

We're creating that room to room

seamless harmony through color.

-[Joe] To me, this room is once again relaxing. -[Tiffany] Yep.

[Joe] Chill. And the inside,

-outside, outside, inside. -[Tiffany] Yes.

And Atlanta is known as the city in the forest.

-Is it really? -Yeah, so why not?

So this is the final guest room.

-[Joe] Oh. -[Tiffany] Yeah.

But what this is called is color blocking.

I drenched the pink everywhere.

But to accent a certain feature

or a piece of architecture.

What you want to do is split it up

and then paint it two different colors.

And it will completely transform the room.

It's a great way to delineate space.

[Joe] I like that.

Now I know you're gonna really love the garage.

All right, Joe.

One of the hubs of the house.

It's stylish, isn't it?

[Joe] Yeah.

Smart storage continues.

We have the lift.

Let me show you that.

[Joe] Oh yeah.

[Tiffany] Hello, holiday decorations.

-It's the perfect place to storm, isn't it? -[Joe] I love that.

[Tiffany] We have a convenient charger

where you can charge your electric vehicle.

And then, of course, the wall tools.

[Joe] The battery life span on these,

-especially right here with this lawnmower. -[Tiffany] Okay.

This can last about 70 min.

-[Tiffany] Okay. -If the battery runs out...

-[Tiffany] Yeah. -...you have multiple backup batteries.

But, gosh, you're drooling right now.

-Yeah. -I'm excited for you.

Wipe it out. Wipe it out.

[Tiffany] I'm glad I'm impressing you.

Always. I have to see the outside.

Oh, yeah!

Look at it.

[Joe] Absolutely beautiful.

[Tiffany] Do you remember what it was before?

[Joe] Broken down and ugly?

-[Tiffany] Yes! -[Joe] Literally broken down.

The deck is one of my favorite things.

I mean, it's virtually maintenance proof.

-[Joe] And it doesn't warp. -Right.

-And it's easy to clean. -[Tiffany] Yes.

And little kiddies can come out here bare foot,

-they don't get the splinters. -[Tiffany] Right.

This area right here is the ultimate gathering spot.

And these fire pits are smart.

The flames will even respond to music.

[Joe] I'm noticing one thing at the corner of my eye...

-[Tiffany] What? -...and that is that grill.

I tried to get the granddaddy of all grills.

-It has this rotisserie feature. -Yeah.

One more thing I love about this area of the outdoor kitchen

is the pass door.

-[Joe] Yeah. -It makes everything convenient.

There's more around the corner.

This is the more private area.

Imagine just walking out of your sleep sanctuary

into this.

You know, it's also nice, the privacy wall.

You've got the airflow that can come through with the openings.

And you even put in the shade canopy to keep things cool.

Everything in this house allows you to be safe,

calm, cool, collective, you know, and and enjoy yourself.

[Tiffany] A smart home isn't just about technology.

It's about great space planning.

It's about flexibility, and it's about comfort.

We took an 80s house with a funky, chopped up layout.

And really transformed it into a high tech,

gorgeous home fit for 2024.
