NARRATOR: Around and along, in the middle of somewhere,

lives a little sound collector.

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Ah, yes, and his best friend, Mole.

Putting in his hearing aids,

the Sound Collector starts to hear the world around him.

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

MOLE SNORES

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Up you get, Mole.

MOLE SNUFFLES

MOLE MUNCHES That's right, dig in.

CLOCK TICKING Ah, birds on the wing.

Travelling to far-away lands, following the warmth of the sun.

SWITCH CLICKS

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

BIRDSONG Oh, wonderful!

WHEEL CLANKS, WATER SPLASHES

From the power of a water wheel... HONKING BRAY

..to a donkey? He missed that one.

Oh, well, no point in waiting for a donkey that doesn't want to call.

I wonder what sounds he'll find here.

DEEP, ELECTRICAL BUZZING Mm, so good.

DISTANT PLANE ROARS

Off anywhere nice?

Yes. Listen hard and a sound will come.

HIGH-PITCHED TWEET

There. Where's that coming from?

A-ha! A starling.

Not the sweetest song. But it's a good sound all the same.

BIRDS TWEETING AND TWITTERING

Listen to them chattering away.

WHEEL CLANKING, EARTH RUSTLING

Sounds like Mole is busy.

RASPY BLEAT

Hm.

HONKING

There's that donkey again!

Some noises are best to try and ignore.

CURIOUS SNUFFLES Oh, dear.

Mole isn't one for ignoring things.

SWITCH CLICKS, DISTANT PLANE ROARS

Ah, if he could fly, he could travel to far-away lands,

recording sounds from all over the world. Imagine that.

SOFT TWEETING

Sounds like there are more starlings.

HE GASPS What has he seen?

What could it be?

A murmuration of starlings!

Thousands and thousands of them filling the sky.

RUSH OF WINGS

Incredible.

Well, I guess there's only one place he can be going.

To find Mole!

SNUFFLING

Some things are just too good not to share.

CACOPHONY OF FLUTTERING FILLS THE AIR

MOLE WHIMPERS It's OK, Mole.

It's just nature doing its thing.

What an amazing sight.

What an amazing sound.

MOLE SNUFFLES Mole! Wait up!

BRAYING

It's that donkey again.

DONKEY BRAYS Ah, and he's recorded it.

What luck!

NERVOUS GRUNT

Never mind, Mole. Nothing to worry about.

I guess some noises you never see.

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Oh, hello!

HE CHUCKLES Now, that is a fun sound.
