when my dad passed away,

Shiloh was in the hospital

where I couldn't
get Shya on time,

and my oldest sister

Glenda, she has lupus,

and there were times
where I knew she would

put her-her own feelings
and health aside

to just make sure
I was good.

So, I can't even imagine
my life without them.

Last year was crazy
with all the Shiloh things.

This year, was me,

the ectopic pregnancy,
and now Shya.

It's literally
never-ending.

I get my strength
from my mom and my sisters.

My estrogen levels

I just wanna make sure
I have enough

love in my heart

This whole journey
has just been overwhelming,

Shiloh is thrivin'.

her struggles.

That baby smiles so much
and is the happiest baby.

My first divorce

In this divorce,

because the person
who is here now, in Simon,

is not my husband.

he was your protector.

- And for the first time,
I felt like you were

on an island all by yourself.

- Normally, when you're
going through divorce,

there is a point
where the husband or wife

break away from attorneys
and have a conversation.

- And I have reached out
to his pastor.

I have reached out to
one of his, uh, younger cousins,

and I had reached out
to his older uncles,

because, you know,
we had the native custom.

- By their tradition,
the family,

you can ask to them to assist,
but they-they basically said

they want hands off.

So, on the American side,
you file for a divorce.

You let the court system
handle it.

For Benin,
the culture there,

you're supposed to be able
to go to the family,

and I was very disappointed

that they decided they did not
want to intervene.

They wanted the legal process
just to continue.

it's osteogenesis imperfecta,
and three of my daughters

were actually diagnosed with
osteogenesis imperfecta,

which is a genetic disease.

Most of you know it
as brittle bones disease.

Chance, she was six weeks old,
and I noticed that somethin'

was wrong with Chance's arm,
and I had my mom

take me to the hospital.
[sighs]

It's okay.

And I'll never forget.

Two police came and
stood in front of the door.

CPS won't let me leave.

We were stuck in Baltimore
for probably over a month.

I just remember that time,
just feeling so low and so deep

and just not knowing
what's wrong because

they thought that I was
literally abusing my daughter.

If it wasn't for foundations
such as OI, um,

I don't know where we would be,
right now.

The doctor literally
took a flashlight,

looked in her eyes,
and said, "She has OI."

And they said,
"We could see the blue tint

around her eyelids."

And I was literally
free to go home

and go back to my house
with my kid.

I feel like it's a foundation
that hasn't had

as much spotlight as it should,

and it's near and dear to me
because it's affected me

and my family
in so many different ways

and people that look like us.
