Original subtitles

- [? theme music playing] - ? Kiff! ?

? Kiff! Kiff! ?

? Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! ?

? Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! ?

? Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! Kiff! ?

? Yeah! ?

- ? Kiff! ? - [? theme music concludes]

- [chuckles] - [laughs]

[both laughing]

[narrator 1] Brought to you by Peddlers of Patio Prairie.

Will you be the first player in history to finish a game?

- [Kiff] Sleepover night! - [Barry] Sleepover night!

[? thrilling music playing over TV]

So, it's Friday night. What are you crazy kids gonna do

with your fancy sleepover bedtime of 10:30 p.m.?

You really just wanna sit here

and watch the nightly news with us?

Yeah, it's grown-up! It's cool.

[Sally over TV] More on that cerebral hematoma

- coming up later. - [both groan]

[? thrilling music continues]

Our top story tonight, Snailey's Comet,

the confusingly named lightning-fast comet

that only comes around every 500 years,

will be visible tonight over Table Town.

- [gasps] - [exclaims]

That's right. Visible for one minute,

- tonight only, at 4:00 a.m. - [both groan]

- [? perky music playing] - I mean,

we have to set a 4:00 a.m. alarm.

[chuckling] We gotta see that comet.

Wake me up at 4:00 a.m.?

"Don't talk to me until I've had my eggs Benedict,

"which I eat after 7:00 a.m. at the ea-"

Oh. "Earliest." Yeah. Okay.

What if we didn't have to get up

- because we already were up? - [? dubious music playing]

I'm saying, what if me and Bar stay up all night?

- [group] Oh! - Yeah.

I don't know. Growing kids need sleep.

Marty, let's let 'em try it.

- It's cute. Trust me... - [both snicker]

...they'll be sawing logs within the hour.

All right. If you wanna try and stay up for the comet,

we'll allow it.

But you gotta brush your teeth and stay in your PJs.

No TV and no being noisy and waking us up.

- Deal! - Deal!

[? cheerful music playing]

[? cheerful music builds]

[? music concludes]

This is gonna be a piece of cake.

- [? quirky music playing] - It's already 10:30.

We're just five and a half hours away

from comet time, baby. [chuckles]

I eat five and a half hours for breakfast.

- [stomach growls] - Breakfast?

If we went to sleep now, we'd be eating breakfast

before we know it.

No, no, no, no. We snooze, we lose. Agreed?

Okay, now let's pass some time.

[? light-hearted music playing]

[breathes deeply]

[shredder whirring]

[camera shutter clicking]

[? music concludes]

All right! Well, I think we've earned it.

Let's check that clock! Seventeen minutes?

It's only been 17 minutes? How is that possible?

We have to pass so much more time.

Well, we can take comfort in knowing

that we organized your board games

- and found your dad's passport. - Yeah, yeah. Wait! Board games!

[? quirky music playing]

[blows]

[Barry] "Peddlers of Patio Prairie."

Mm-hmm. Dad and Uncle Pat

tried to get me to play this one.

It's super complicated. It'll take at least half an hour

just to put together all the pieces.

- Nice try, time! - [both laugh menacingly]

[? dramatic music playing]

- [yawns] - [yawns]

Done. Okay. [groans] How do we play?

[groans, breathes deeply] Okay.

- [? dubious music playing] - "The player board...

"The player board keeps track of your resource cubes.

"Most resource icons refer to resource cubes,

"but resource...

[yawns] "...icons with brown boxes indicate

"the production of that resource and not the cube itself."

Huh, now that I think about it... [grunts]

...some of the sleepiest times in my life have been

while someone was reading the instructions

to a convoluted board game.

- [groans softly, mumbles] - [? sinister music playing]

[yelps, pants] We almost fell asleep! No!

What if we can't stop ourselves? What if we miss the comet?

[groans] Barry, look!

That little scare kind of woke me up.

I think getting scared keeps you awake!

Where are you going with this?

- [? ominous music playing] - And they never found his elbow.

And that little girl was me.

If the house was boarded up,

where was all the slime coming from?

- [crickets chirping] - [owl hooting]

There's a ghost over there, like,

a boy with wet hair.

Oh. Perfect.

- [grunts heavily] - [groans]

[yelps] I can't do it, Kiff.

My brain's not strong enough to keep itself awake.

- Mine neither. - I mean, how cool is this

Snailey's Comet thing anyway?

Right? Yeah. I mean, plus,

what with the way science is going,

we'll probably live another 500 years anyway.

We'll just catch it next time.

That's really sounding right to me.

I say we just agree to meet back up

in another 500 years and try again.

So, um, bed?

Race ya! [yawns]

[? thrilling music playing over TV]

[Sally over TV] Special breaking news bulletin,

Snailey's Comet has released a statement

announcing this will be its last visit

through our night skies before it retires

to the Klaxar V Nebula, which is basically

like a chill beach town area in outer space,

if you're unfamiliar.

So, just to clarify,

this truly will be a once in a lifetime event.

Even if you live 500 more years, it won't matter.

It's tonight or never, Kiff and Barry!

- [gasps] - [gasps]

We have to do this. If we miss this comet,

we will regret it for the next 500 years,

what with the way science is going.

Maybe it's time we used science.

[? exciting techno music playing]

- [? music concludes] - Will it work?

[Kiff] Only one way to find out.

[? intriguing music playing]

[yawns]

[? perky music playing]

[machine whirring]

[? music concludes]

- [laughs] It works! - [laughs]

[crickets chirping]

- [objects clattering] - [metal clanging]

[yawns, groans]

[water gun hisses, squeaks]

Bar! Bar! Look alive! I think we ran out of water.

- Wow, look! - [? funky music playing]

We didn't fall asleep.

- We're not gonna miss the comet. - O-M-G! The comet!

I almost totally forgot why we're even doing this.

- Let's check the time. - [? music concludes]

- [both] 05:02? What? - [? dramatic music playing]

[Barry screams] No! What was this all for?

[Martin exhales] Hmm.

- [grunts, pants] - [sobbing] No, no, no, no!

[sobbing] No, no!

No, no, no, no, no, no! No, no! [pants]

That was sublime. I can die now.

- [wails] - [? gloomy music playing]

Snailey's Comet flew by an hour ago...

This is the worst thing that's ever happened to us!

...and we were just sitting inside,

- getting splashed in the face... - [groans] It hurts!

It hurts in my bones!

...like a couple of splash-faced dummies?

[? gentle instrumental music playing]

Uh, hello? We're trying to wallow over here?

[sings] ? Look outside It's a brand-new day today ?

? The sun's coming up ?

? It'll only happen once today ?

[birds chirping]

[Nice Old Guy] ? Yesterday's old Today's brand-new ?

? The world outside ?

- ? Is waiting for you ? - [croaks]

[Nice Old Guy] ? And so, it's time to say ?

? Good morning to the birds ?

- ? In the trees ? - [birds chirp]

[Nice Old Guy] ? Good morning to the flowers ?

- ? And the bees ? - [yawns]

? Good morning to the rising sun ?

? Good morning to everyone ?

[resident] It's 5:00 in the morning!

Keep it down!

- [? music concludes] - Yup. Sorry.

So beautiful.

Well, I hope you enjoyed that 'cause I immediately forget

every song I play.

I guess you could say

that was a once in a lifetime experience y'all had.

Goodbye now.

Cool.
