At that point, I was feeling like I'm drowning

Kaiya: Watching Divighn in rehearsal really blew my mind.

He was just killing.

because of the type of emotion and grit,

I felt it kind of aligned to where I was in my life

when I was a teenager, you know,

not really fitting into the in crowd,

I'm just, like, honestly blown away

that that experience has led me here.

I always secretly dread when people are gonna do our songs

'cause it makes me nervous.

I'm so close to it. I love what you did with it.

You took it and you did something

that I actually liked with it that wasn't what I normally do.

The fact that you can get up there

and move the way you were moving

and still just deliver, like,

a rock-solid big vocal, that's big.

Kaiya didn't do one of my songs, but I love this song, too.

And I love how you sing.

You kind of gave the opposite kind of clinic.

that were really impressive.

of moving to Nashville to chase my dreams.

I grew up in High Point, North Carolina.

It is a small town,

so there's not a lot of opportunities there.

Nashville has definitely allowed me to chase dreams

I never thought were possible,

but everyone there is doing country music,

It's been challenging, but I've just had to remind myself

to keep going and not give up.

I think in that middle part, you might want to, like,

sing more in your chest the whole time... Belty.

The key will be giving enough power during that,

because it takes a lot of dexterity

to do that beginning of the song.

If you show people you can do that

and then you show people you can do the big stuff in the middle

and then strip it back down... Bring it down.

...I think it's a nice journey

to go through in the performance. Okay.

the right kind of song for Tatum.

It shows a nuance and a subtlety in your voice,

how you can connect with lyrics that are really meaningful.

Something about that challenge, like,

really struck a chord with me

that made me really want to sing it.

After college, one of the things that I've been struggling with

is which avenue to, like, really go down.

I love music, but I also love acting, I love dancing,

I love all the different aspects of performing.

So being able to, like, give yourself fully to one,

it's just really hard.

Try to get into character,

letting that passion of the song flow through you.

John has really helped in creating an approach to music

from an emotional standpoint.

He kind of, like, brought it up as, like, an acting way,

which is something that I'm very familiar with.

I really, really, really want to win this knockout.

I want to conquer every single avenue

that has to do with music.

John: With each round, Bryson is gonna gain more confidence.

Him picking this Aretha song is already showing

that he's confident in his ability as a singer,

and I'm excited to see how he carries that onto the stage.
