Investigators with the Oakland Police Department

have finally confirmed that the body found here,

shot to death with a 9-millimeter handgun,

was indeed that of the Westside Slasher.

The coroner's office has matched the markings on all of the victims

with the weapon, the knife found next to the body.

The fingerprints of the dead man

have been matched to those of a small-time criminal

Oakland police have booked for everything from assault to attempted rape.

Now, at this time, police have no leads

about who might have ended the slasher's tyranny on the community.
