Are you all right?

She's here.

She's here. Sang Qi is here.

Sang Qi is here.

Master Sang, thank you for saving my life.

It's just a small matter. Don't mention it.

Master Sang, after witnessing your skills today,

I was so in awe.

I've offended you many times previously.

Master Sang, if you require my assistance in the future,

please don't hesitate to let me know.

I will serve you faithfully.

The things that happened previously were just misunderstandings.

Everyone, please don't take it to heart.

From now on, let's write it off.

Master Sang, you are a broad-minded person indeed.

I feel ashamed of my inferiority.

Master Sang.

Please have a seat.

- Please.

Let's all sit.

Yan Yan.

Were you planning to make an offering to me

when you prepared all of this?

You might as well prepare the joss paper too.

Who did this?

This...

- It was him. - It wasn't me.

It wasn't me.

You're still not going to confess?

Is this better?

Yes, it looks like I'm making an offering to you now.

Here you go, Master Sang.

Here.

Here you go. Hold it carefully.

Thank you.

This is the home of the victim's family.

It's also the scene of the murder case.

Previously, I brought several people to investigate this area thoroughly

but we didn't find any clues.

That's why I rushed over to seek your help.

Bai Shi.

Let's spread out and look around.

Yes.

Young Master.

It seems that the entire courtyard has been purposely cleaned up.

There were no clues left behind.

The family was still here several days ago.

Why did they hurriedly move away?

Move the table.

What is this?

Collect it and take it back to get examined.

(The scene bringing back memories)

(May all your wishes come true)

Back then, you suspected that

Sang Yu was killed by someone else.

I previously couldn't decide if I should believe you or not.

But now, it looks like your suspicions were right.

The deceased's cause of death this time

is extremely similar to Sang Yu's cause of death back then.

Moreover, the family suddenly vanished into thin air.

It's really strange.

Perhaps

there's a connection between both of them.

As long as we can identify the source of the poison,

we have hope of solving everything.

Qi Lang.

You're the best at solving cases in the entire Bianjing.

If it wasn't for your help over the years,

there would be so many unsettled cases in Prefecture Court

that were just left hanging.

Don't worry.

All of us at Prefecture Court will spare no effort in supporting you.

We will get justice to Sang Yu.

I'll leave it to you.

Oh, right, Sang Qi is studying at the Imperial College now.

Well,

she is your old friend's younger sister after all.

You must take extra good care of her.

Make sure that she doesn't get bullied.

Her?

Get bullied?

Guard the physical evidence. I'll go after that person.

All right.

(Tea shop)

(Qian Family Dried Fruit Store)

The Grand Commandant's Residence.

Who is it?

What do you think you're doing?

I...

Would you believe me if I say that I came to pay a visit?

Pay a visit?

Why don't you visit my father while he is taking a bath instead?

You came to watch me bathe.

Who in their right mind would believe you?

You're right, I don't think that you would believe me either.

All right then.

I will take my leave.

There's an assassin!

Go after him! Hurry!

I'm sorry.

Are they here to capture you?

I'm talking to you.

I...

I was helping Prefecture Court arrest a thief earlier.

I saw the thief enter the Grand Commandant's Residence

and heard you scream,

so I thought you were in danger.

That's why I rushed inside.

Is that so?

If you don't believe me,

I'll go and properly explain everything to them.

What exactly are you going to say to them?

We're a man and a woman alone together.

If you go outside now, how will you explain this?

There's no valid excuse.

Never mind.

You saved me during horseback archery class,

so it's my turn to save you now.

How about we call it even?

Fine.

Search thoroughly. Don't let the thief escape.

Yes.

You can hide in the bathtub.

Come on, go inside.

Hold your breath.

Just hold your breath and get inside.

Go on, Deputy Chief. Get inside.

There's no need. I've found a way to escape.

I just finished my bath. It doesn't smell.

Young Lady.

Young Lady, a thief entered the residence just now.

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

You should hurry up and go back to bed.

Go on, go on, go on.

Young Lady.

Go on then.

You can go back now.

(Secretariat Chancellery)

Young Master.

Do you think that Miss Sang is in danger?

We should never let our guard down.

Has Prefecture Court managed to find out

what kind of poison that powder contains?

They have yet to find out.

But Official Yan has already sent people over

to seek numerous officials throughout various places to compare their findings.

He will inform us immediately once he receives any news.

Oh, right, Young Master.

Official Yan purposely left some behind

to request you to help him examine it.

Since it's time for our music class,

let's do a different activity today.

Instead of reciting a poem, the loser will have to perform

by playing a musical instrument.

Play a musical instrument?

I don't know how to do that.

Neither do I.

Don't worry.

It's not like we're drawing lots in musical temperament class.

You won't get chosen so easily.

Really?

I feel so relieved now.

It's completely...

Go, go, go.

Sang Qi, you're chosen!

Thank God it's not me.

Zhuo Wen Yuan, didn't you say that...

I've heard long ago

that all the young ladies in Bianjing are skilled at musical temperament.

I'm sure that includes Sang Qi as well.

I have the good fortune of hearing beautiful music today.

Sang Qi, please go ahead.

Why don't I take your place and perform a song instead?

No need. I can do it myself.

You can do it!

Sang Qi is really unfortunate.

That's right.

I'm surprised that she knows how to play this.

I never expected it.

Me neither.

That was great!

I'm sorry.

I'm not skilled at playing musical instruments.

However, those who play the game must accept to lose.

Why don't I sing a song for everyone instead?

Is that all right?

- There's no need to sing. - Don't do it.

No need, no need. There's really no need.

You really don't have to do it.

Sing.

Please continue.

Go ahead and sing.

Hurry up. Let's leave quickly.

Hurry up. Let's go quickly!

Master Sang, let's go quickly and take shelter from the rain.

Deputy Chief.

How did you learn to play that song?

Are you talking about that song from just now?

I randomly played a tune when I heard you singing.

What's wrong?

Did you know my elder brother?

Your elder brother?

Sang Yu.

He was a student at the Imperial College.

Do you know him?

No, I don't.

Well, that's impossible.

My brother composed that song.

Only a few people have heard of it.

How are you able to play it?

Most musical temperaments tend to be similar.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence.

Think about it properly.

Is there any news from Official Yan's investigation?

They have investigated with officials from many other states,

but they are still unable to determine this powder's origins.

(To Qi Lang) They merely concluded that this powder

comes from a certain type of plant.

Even the official authorities were unable to clearly identify this powder.

What exactly is it?

We can only depend on ourselves.

However,

It's me.

You've behaved badly and broken the imperial rules.

How could the Imperial College accept a student like you

You must know,

the scholars would definitely expel you from the Imperial College.

Who was the one who misbehaved

How could the Imperial College accept a Deputy Chief like that?

I dare you to say that again. Who watched you bathe?

I was merely improvising when I played it.

Moreover,

what do I have to hide?

Deputy Chief, it doesn't matter if you refuse to admit it right now,

but I will still get to the bottom of this.
