That were architecturally Drawn, comprehensively,

From like 1900 to 1930, The phonograph,

The quality of the sound Was terrible.

You know, they came up With something.

Scrolls that you put in the Piano with holes,

Metal feelers that would Effectuate the piano keys.

That's the player piano, Invented here.

The guy wants it to look As real as possible,

But it's got to be An aquarium, so...

So I'm trying to figure The whole thing out.

It's a blinged-out piano.

So this is actually Liberace's piano.

Liberace was one of the original Kings of playing piano.

At the height of his career,

He was the highest-paid Entertainer in the world.

This piano was Created for liberace

For his final performance

In 1986 At radio city music hall.

It's encrusted with tens of Thousands of austrian crystals.

We actually look after

The entire collection Of liberace's pianos.

When someone says "Grand," It's this shape.

They all come in To follow the shape

Of the cast-iron plate In here.

Grand pianos come in Various different sizes.

It's got to look Just like this.

Minus the 10,000 crystals.

I know what I want The outside to look like,

But now I have to figure out How to incorporate

The mechanism on the inside.

How does this work?

So basically, When you play a piano key,

What happens is you Press the notes

And the hammer comes up And strikes the string.

So you press a note...[ note plays ]

It strikes the string, Makes the sound.

When you release the note,

The damper goes back down And mutes the sound.

I didn't realize How complex pianos are,

And I'm expected to fit All this inside a fish tank?

We can't have any Of the inner guts.

That's not gonna be Good for the fish.

We need to take this out To put a fish tank in,

But I still want to have that. I think that's important.

Especially if you Want it to play.

The strings are What make it play.

What if we take this, Get a nice high-def picture,

Print it, and wrap this Like a mirr--

It looks like it, But we got rid of this.

How do we get it to play.You might want to consider,

Like, a digital keyboard, Like a digital piano.

That would be A great alternative.

The sound is produced Electronically,

Going through Some speakers,

Rather than through The piano action

Of the hammers Hitting the strings.

And then literally All you would hear then

Would be the very gentle sound Of you hitting the keys,

But it wouldn't actually Make any vibration.

The biggest concern always Is the fishes' safety.

And an electronic keyboard Won't harm the fish in any way.

Does it sound like a piano?It actually does.

I've got one, so we can take A listen if you want.

So, this is the latest Stage piano from roland,

And it's An industry standard.

Many, many professional Musicians tour with this.

They actually Have metal weights

And kind of a mechanism In the back here underneath.

They can replicate The weight

And the feel of A regular acoustic piano.

And this is not Very heavy at all.

And we can take A listen to it.

Wow. And what are all These other keys for?

So, because it's a stage piano It has many other functions,

Like it can do different, Like, electric piano.

Electric-piano sounds. You can do organ sound.

Wow.

Oh, so they get more For their money with this one.

Yeah. Added bonus -- It doesn't need tuning.

This is incredible. This is it.

Is there any way I can Take some pictures

And maybe get some Information on this

So I can run it By the client

And make sure this is Gonna fit everything?

I can do one better.

I can actually loan you A regular grand piano.

I can have my guys bring One over to your shop.

And then you can take all The correct measurements,

The contours, everything About the piano,

So you'll have it really Perfect, spot on, then.

Wayde: to make our tank, We'll mold one-inch acrylic

Into the exact size and shape Of a baby grand piano.

Instead of a steel Stand and a facade,

Our aquarium will be mounted On thick acrylic legs.

A small island of coral In the center

Will hide our interior plumbing

And will send water into the Filter room located next door.

We'll finish it off with A colorful school of fish,

Ready to take Their piano lessons.

True to their word, Piano action

Sent over a baby grand

For us to use As a model for the tank.

Now I got to get redneck On board with the plan,

And off the ivories.

What we have to do Is make this into a fish tank.

This is gonna get Real bad.

You're gonna be the first Redneck buried in a piano.

All right. We know this is gonna Be very easy -- this panel.

We know this panel Is gonna be very easy.

The big problem is, We have a flat part here,

With a radius going in, And then radius going out,

And then the radius Going in.

And this one loops All the way around.

So this is gonna be A tricky mold.

We can do this either in one Piece, all the way around,

Or we're gonna have to do two And then bond it.

I'm getting A little visual.

Now that we have The template,

We know we have The shape, right?

We got to get a mold for this. We'll measure out the acrylic.

We'll get this to the t, And we'll tank it.

Wayde: this is a completely Custom shape,

So we have to build the molds For the piano from scratch.

Once we are sure everything Lines up perfectly,

We can place The acrylic piece on the mold

And put it into the oven.

We'll measure it out So the curves will form

Right where we want them.

We'll put the first panel In the oven

For four hours at 300 degrees.

Then it should come out of The oven perfectly shaped.

Redneck! Yeah?

That piece is coming Out of the oven.

So, today we're checking in On the acrylic piece

That we're making For a custom piano,

And it has to go in And out of the oven.

Yeah, we're dropping coming Right out of the oven.

To test temperature, We have a heat gun.

We actually put it On the acrylic

To tell us the temperature.

Kinda like the camera lens Right there.

Yeah, you guys are looking A little cold right now.

We got to get this bad boy On quick so it doesn't disform.

Once we take it out of the oven,

It gets cold And starts to curl up.

Look at that.

It's like jell-o, huh? Yep.

So we're gonna have to put Another piece of the mold on

To hold its shape And get it back into the oven.

Okay.

Going down to 220 Right now.

Let's go. Once it cools too much,

It returns back to a solid form,

So that's why we have To move so quickly.

All right. It's already Going up a little bit.

All right. Close the door.

Wayde: we're building a tank For an old piano factory,

And it's in the shape of, You guessed it, a piano.

This tank doesn't have a facade Like all the other tanks we do,

So we have to think Outside the box.

Brett and brandon have Been hard at work molding

And sculpting the coral inserts To hide all the pipes

We're planning to run Through the acrylic piano.

We got to make it look Like it's floating.

Some of the plumbing pipes are In the tank and they're visible,

So we're being tricky And covering them with coral.

We don't want to see Any plumbing in any way,

So we're gonna Have to camouflage it.

This is a unique tank. We've Never done it before like this.

So, we got the plumbing Going through here, right?

And we got the returns here, Right?

Redneck: Gonna angle them?

Yeah. So we get The flow we want.

And it's low. It's not gonna Take up too much space.

Oh, And that covers the drain.

This is against the back wall And you don't see it.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about.

How's the plumbing underneath Here? Can we lift this up?

Okay. So, the water's in. Flows through the pvc.

It's all hidden.It's all hidden.

And this is all sealed.Yep.

I like that.

Dude, this is like a One-of-a-kind masterpiece, bro.

It was a challenge.

So, right now We're gonna do a dry fit.

We're gonna see How everything looks.

And if we got to make changes, We're gonna do it now.

Now kinda line it up Where it's gonna go

We want to make An environment very happy

And healthy for the fish, And we need hiding spots.

So we want fish To cruise around in here

But also not hide so much That you don't see them.

I don't think where It's at will work.

Too many fish In the back channel.

Keep your end there And pull it out a little bit.

I kinda like that better. Start playing the piano.

The returns Are actually moveable.

It's gonna get the flow That we want.

Also, we designed The steel plate

To support the bottom Of the tank

And placed the leg holders So fernando

Could start welding Them all together.

Literally shaped Like a piano?

It's 250 gallons. Okay.

And they want fish that Are gonna absolutely dazzle

And maybe have some, like, Musically themed fish.

Okay, I got some ideas.

One of my favorite fish, Blueface angel.

Agnes: ooh.

The blueface angel Definitely dazzles.

It's colorful. It's active.

Fun. Outgoing. Right?

As adults, Are really colorful.

It's a showpiece.

If you want a fish That looks like keys,

Black and white, Heniochus.

Oh! That's perfect!Oh!

That is gonna look So good.

Yeah, it'll be like the keys Are just fluttering.

-I love that. -right?

Okay. These keep active.

They'll be out in the open.

And they eat well?

Oh, they eat like crazy.

What do you have next?

Falcula butterfly.

Another really easy to keep Butterfly.

Yes. I like butterflies.

And it's got the black-and-white Coloring, as well.

And they're really Peaceful, aren't they?

They are.

But they need a lot of corals And, like, hiding spaces.

As long as there's a nice insert With a lot of crevices

Where they can swim in and out Of, they adapt really easily.

And I have one more To show you.

Okay, I got a really Pretty bicolor angel.

Look at that. That's literally, Like, on point two colors.

It's super vibrant.

Yes. The blue is so amazing.

Like, that's going to Attract a lot of people.

Will the colors Change over time?

Or do they stay Distinct like that?

Pretty much the same, Yeah.

What will they eat?They'll eat anything.

They'll eat flakes, They'll eat plankton.

They'll eat Just about anything.

Where goes the bicolor angel Come from?

Those guys are found Throughout the south pacific.

They're readily available.

I think we have great fish For the piano tank.

There's no plumbing Underneath it.

There's acrylic legs, So we had to hide

The plumbing behind the wall.

We need to drill the tank And the wall on site,

To make sure everything Lines up perfectly.

Once the tank is At the right height,

We'll mark the wall for our Plumbing and our power holes.

Let's get these holes Drilled right here.

Behind this wall is a bunch of Metal studs and power lines.

If we hit either one, We can be in big trouble.

With the holes in place,

We can move the tank Up against the wall.

Push in, girls. It's gonna go...

Right there. As far as we're goin'.

And line up all the legs.

It's in place. Lower the carts down.

Females are more turquoise, Which is cool.

This is The longnose butterfly.

Look how cool. Look at his mohawk.

So he's got that extra spot On the back.

It's like a protection,

So the fish will bite In the back versus the front

And he has a chance Of living.

Ahh, the keyhole angel.

It's like the keys From the piano.

And he's got A little bit of flair.

Got to have the flair.You have to.

And this guy is A little aggressive,

So you got to watch out when you Introduce other pygmy angels.

We got the fish in.

Let's wipe this down And get ready to show it off.

All of a sudden, We see all these people

Are starting to gather.

This is incredible. You guys are unbelievable.

You definitely have A one-of-a-kind aquarium.

The tank is 75 inches By 60 by 18.

Exactly like A baby grand piano.

That's incredible.

It's 250 gallons.Oh, my goodness.

After we designed The shape of the aquarium,

We had to make a steel structure To support it.

So there's a steel plate Under this whole entire tank.

There's also steel cups That are underneath,

That have acrylic legs That support it.

You have no plumbing That you can see

'cause there's no filters Underneath it.

Everything's plumbed out Through the back wall.

You cannot see it, Hear it, or anything.

-tell me about the fish. -all right!

Heather: we have a group Of heniochus.

Black and white represents The keys of a piano.

Look at those mohawks.

We also have two different Types of damsels.

There's a kupang damsel,

Which is the blue one With the orange on the bottom,

And then we have A black and gold damsel.

And then we also have a pakistan Butterfly, which wayde loves.

So, the pakistani butterfly Has criss-cross markings on it.

It looks just like the strings And the keys inside the piano.

We wanted to make the piano As realistic as possible,

So we had this custom wrap Put on it

So you can see The innards of the piano.

I think you guys did A great job. You nailed it.

There is no community that is Gonna have anything like this.

This really represents The history

Of this building, Of this community,

And it's something That everyone can enjoy.

But you know The big question...

Does it work?

The 250-gallon acrylic body Stands on three-foot-tall,

Prism-cut legs,

And holds 2,500 pounds Of water, coral,

And saltwater fish.

Remote filtration makes sure That the electronic keyboard

Is the only sound you Hear in the atrium.
