We wanted to add, like, An aquatic feel to it.

So, if you notice, like The chandeliers symbolizes

A jellyfish.

He loves sea life.

He wants multiple tanks.

Oh, yeah, we can Definitely do that.

Brett: Alright. Show us where You want the tank.

You're standing in Our lobby.

The lobby's always A great way to start

For an aquarium When you walk in the building,

So what exactly You got going on here?

So, right here, we have like, Sofas, few chairs,

We have The reception desk here.

If you want to have, you know, Something that impresses people

Right when they walk in,

We could make This reception desk

Right here into an aquarium.

That'd be insane.

I think something About 10-feet-long Would fit perfectly.

-oh, he would love that. -so, that's a good option.

I think really this Is option number one.

And because a tank Like this is low,

I think I would go with piles of Stone and rock instead of coral.

So, right here, You have a boardroom

And then you have A kitchen behind it.

Right here, we'll have doors That fold into the wall.

I mean, dude, we can put Something like,

So, what if we were To lose the fireplace

But what about then incorporate The fireplace into the tank?

By the conference room With one long coral piece.

I know him, he'd say, Make it happen.

He'd go with all three.

Three tanks? That's a lot To design and build.

Yeah, it is, but I got The perfect place

That I could go for inspiration For designing these aquariums.

But I know brad wants Something huge, like tall.

We can't go that big. It won't fit through the door.

A standard door is about 7 feet tall, 3 feet wide.

Our tank would be to be Smaller to get it in,

Unless there's Another way to get it in.

-when's this glass going up? -the glass is going in last.

The glass is definitely going to Have go to in last, then.

That's probably the Only way we're going To be able to get it in.

Yeah, a crane Through the ceiling

Or a forklift, something.

So, what kind of tanks You want -- fresh or salt?

Saltwater.

We would prefer like Three saltwater tanks.

You have any idea On, like,

What mr. Jennings Might want on the inside?

Absolutely. A lot of bronze, Splashes of orange.

Their company color is black And white and green,

Green being the standout And every shade of green.

And once We start designing,

We could choose some Really amazing fish

That will work With the interiors.

In springfield, missouri.

Wow! All I can say Is just, wow!

Welcome to wonders of wildlife.

-this place is awesome. -we're a brand-new facility.

I know that you know Johnny morris.

He's our founder.

This is attached, actually, to The flagship bass pro shops

In springfield, missouri.

That's pretty amazing.

You're actually in Our great oceans hall right now.

We really want you to feel, When you walk into this room,

Like you are Underneath the ocean

And so that's kind of, you know,

Everything that You look and see,

It's creating that experience.

And that all ties back To johnny morris' passion,

Which is all about connecting People to the outdoors,

All with the goal that They will become inspired

To get involved In conservation

And hopefully, create new love For the beauty of our planet.

I think I came to the Right place, definitely, For inspiration.

It's just amazing What you guys got here.

So, let me tell you Why I'm here.

I have a client, he has three Amazing aquariums that he wants,

But he wants 'em all to be, you Know, a little bit different.

So, I figured I would come here, Get a little inspiration,

You guys Could show me around.

We could take a look At some of the exhibits

And get the creative juices Flowing.

Absolutely.

Welcome to open ocean.

Right now, you're standing In a 360° immersive environment

Surrounded by about 260,000 gallons of water.

16 acrylic panels Make up this exhibit.

Just in this tank alone,

We've got about 400 animals living in here,

A variety of both pacific And atlantic species.

Nice. I see A couple of fish I know.

Zebrashark, couple Of groupers, eagle ray.

Got some pretty cool stuff In there.

Really like the way that Coral formation is sitting.

Could we check that out For a minute?

-come on over. -that's pretty awesome.

We've got some of those Plate corals, the montiporas,

We've got the branching Corals, acroporas.

We've got the gorgonian Sea fans over there.

We really wanted to mix up The textures and the colors,

So the blues, the reds, The kind of bronze colors.

The rock work is that Nice shelving rock

With lots of nooks And crannies for our angels

And our snappers To hide in down here.

It really makes for A dynamic exhibit.

So, the next tank That we're working with,

They're going to Have a desk

Where the secretary's Going to sit,

Where they greet people.

So, it's very contemporary, Very modern.

I think our under river tank Is going to be perfect for you.

It's got a lot of kind of Plate rock shelves,

Really kind of clean-looking.

Shelby: Alright, brett, welcome to Our under river exhibit.

Nice. Pretty cool.

Stuart: I don't think you get More immersive than this

Without getting wet.

We've got water above you, Water next to you.

This is one of our largest Freshwater exhibits,

Just shy Of 20,000 gallons.

And missouri's known For being the place Where you can find

Two major rivers Of the united states.

We've got the missouri river And the mississippi river both.

We've got longnose gar, Smallmouth bass,

Walleye, blue sucker,

All things that Our local anglers

Will find When they go fishing.

The rock structure's Really, really cool, for sure.

We really went for those kind of Craggy-looking split rocks

That, again, you'll find In the riverbanks.

A walleye -- that's A pretty cool fish right there.

Beautiful fish, too.

You can see those striping, That kind of green-bronze look,

Really fits in with the whole Color scheme of this exhibit.

We've got the smallmouth bass That, of course, you can tell

Because of those Tiger stripes, right,

Coming out of their eyes, Across their cheeks.

We also have A blue sucker in here,

Which is kind of An unusual fish.

A lot of people Don't know about it.

Gets to be about 2 or 3 feet long

And lives off Of sucking the algae

Right off of the logs And the rocks

That it lives amongst.

I kind of think we should show You out out to sea exhibit.

-it's pretty impressive. -absolutely.

It's right behind this way. We'll go that way.

Let's do it. Exciting.

-this is a goliath grouper. -yeah.

Oh, wayde would love -- Shaq would love this.

We've got four goliath groupers In this exhibit.

So, this is what we call Our out to sea exhibit.

So, as you can see, it's a whole Variety of different animals.

Most of these are geared up For the u.S. Gulf coast.

A lot of these animals Came from florida,

Alabama, mississippi.

Everything in the rock work Here is kind of modeled after

What we've got Down in the u.S. Gulf coast.

So, it's a little bit lower Profile, but bright colors.

Lots of places, again, For the fish to hide And move around.

I like the way It's so big

And that there's not An overabundance of coral.

It just gives the fish Room to swim.

So, I think I'm going to kind Of convey that idea to my team.

You know, maybe we can Incorporate that

Into the office aquarium.

Thanks to my visit To wonders of wildlife,

I got the game plan for Two of these three tanks.

We'll make our reception desk Amaze visitors

When they first walk Into the building.

To make the desk functional, We'll make the stand short

And make the tank Only 36 inches tall.

We'll keep the inside Minimalistic

By adding just a few rocks

And a simple but bold Company logo on the Back of the tank.

In the boardroom, we'll fill The empty wall space

Between the meeting area And the kitchen

With an 11-foot-long Saltwater tank.

To streamline the design,

We'll insert one long, Continuous coral island.

A variety of colorful fish will Swim in the 800-gallon tank,

Ensuring no one gets bored In the boardroom.

Brett's on a flight home From the midwest.

I can't wait any longer To get this build started.

Right now, I'm coming out To see redneck

So we can figure out The fireplace tank.

This is a big tank, bro.

For the length of this, You're looking at 84 inches.

We know it's being built Over the fireplace,

But we actually haven't Figured out the fire insert yet.

My big kicker is The height of this tank.

It's 96 inches.

-that's a big tank, bro. -okay.

And it goes on a stand.

So, we're talking a lot of tank, A lot of acrylic,

And a lot Of water pressure.

My biggest problem Is the lintel.

Lintel?

Yeah, the lintel.

Beans? Not beans.

This part here Is called the lintel.

If you say so.

You say lintel, I think of beans.

And I really don't Like 'em anyway.

You know, beans are good For your heart.

The more you eat, The more you fart,

The more you fart, The better you feel,

So eat beans every meal.

You wouldn't want me To eat beans every meal.

No, I definitely don't.

I think what we should do Is cut out a template

And physically see it,

So I can get an idea Of how to make this.

Are we making a fort Out of here? Come on.

That's a big piece, bro.

Cut this off.

You've got this leg here On a steel stand,

That leg on a steel stand.

Correct.

The lintel has 72 inches Of water pressure hitting it.

If our acrylic Isn't thick enough,

It's going to blow out.

You know, after making A template and looking at it,

This should be thicker. Maybe even up to three inches.

That's a big tank, bro.

Now that wayde Has figured out the lintel

For the fireplace tank, We can get building.

The tank is 8 feet tall By 8 feet long.

We'll place a coral insert On just one side,

Hiding our plumbing.

The 36-inch cut-out On the bottom of the tank

Will give us the space To insert our fire feature.

I think redneck and I Can figure it out.

I hope, anyway.

We're hanging a piece of acrylic Over an open flame

To see how fire will affect The bottom of our tank.

The good news is, when The water pressure comes down --

It puts The fire out, yeah.

That's real good news.

It's not a good idea.

That's what We're worried about.

Wayde: Our client wants all three tanks

To have a natural, Minimalistic feel.

So, redneck is fabricating rocks To give us this effect.

Looks like You're rocking it.

I figured I'd get some Chunks of rock made up.

And then we can color 'em, Paint 'em,

Whatever we need to do.

It might seem like a good idea To take a rock from outside

And place it in your tank,

But there's a chance That it could contain

Some harmful contaminants.

That's why we go Through the trouble

To actually mold These artificial rocks.

I blend in over this side.

The owner of the company loves Green, all shades of green.

That's what I'm trying to do,

Is give you that effect Of light and dark streaks.

Look at that, dude. It changes color with the light.

So, with the fish tank lights And underwater,

It's going To change color.

Yeah. It'll change A little bit of color,

But also, as this dries, It'll get darker.

I think that throughout The tank,

You're going to get The zen feeling

Through the whole office.

Brett: Coming up on "Tanked"...

The customer decided to change His mind on this whole insert.

I've wasted my time.

I'm sorry. Yeah, whatever.

Hey, denny!

-hi, denny. -hey, ladies, how you doing?

Since it's important To the client

That the tank have bronze decor,

Agnes and I are Working with denny

To make some unique corals.

Colorwise, they want, like, Greens and bronzes.

-mm-hmm. -now, the green's easy.

It's the bronze thing That caught my attention.

'cause that's something I've never done before.

I've got Some bronze powder.

Ooh, that's pretty.

So, I don't see a reason We can't dust the mold with that

And then pour The material in.

Will this be Fish-safe, though?

Absolutely. It's not An actual metal powder.

It's a mica powder, Which is ground up rocks.

So, it looks bronze, it looks Like metal, but it's not.

Let's see it.

We'll take this And we'll dust the mold.

Ooh, that's bronze.

That's a really inexpensive Bronzer for how much you get.

Agnes will be stealing that On her way out.

Alright, So the first step

Is we've got to take The mica powder

And we've got to get it Inside the mold.

So, you'll basically Just dip the brush

And then just Dust it like that.

Okay.That should be good.

So, now we're going to put Rubber bands around it to Hold the whole mold together.

This is the mother mold that Holds everything in shape.

-got it. -whoopee.

After denny measures out The ratio of our two-part resin,

We'll add some bronze powder For color.

Looks like cinnamon.

-ooh, that does look cool. -isn't it pretty?

Looks like a macchiato.

[ birds screeching ]

I can't with these birds.

I -- how am I supposed To feel zen-like

With these birds screaming?

You're not. Our office is not zen.

Now, to bring out The color,

We're going to add A little bit of black.

Ooh!Ooh!

Heather: once that's finished, We'll mix it all together

And pour the resin Into the mold.

Alright, here we go.

-slow and steady, denny. -slow, yeah.

And then in a few minutes, We'll pull it out

And we should have Some bronze coral.

-awesome. -yay. I can't wait to see it.

Alright, so I think This is set up.

It feels warm, It feels good.

So, let's go ahead And pull it.

Let's open it up.

This is really tough.

It's great for aquariums, Because it's natural

And it doesn't rot.

I found a guy in california. He's got the manzanita tree.

He's going to get All that ready for us.

All we have to do Is get the rocks going.

We'll save a lot of time.

The fireplace tank we're Building will create

A unique lighting feature Underneath the aquarium.

To attract prey?

Brett: So, which of these sea creatures

Creates its own light show To attract prey?

The answer is...

Also known as the disco clam,

This mollusk reflects Light on tiny silica

Located on the edge Of its shell.

Although the effect looks Like an electrical charge,

There's no voltage here.

The reflection is used to Attract light-seeking plankton

And ward off predators.

I love coming To underwater world.

I do, too.

This is probably The best part of our job.

♪♪

This fish is going To look really good.

It's a green bird wrasse.Agnes: oh!

Look at the nose On that thing.

Heather: I love this fish.

I actually have one In my home tank.

Oh, okay, yeah.

And it's awesome, 'cause it's always swimming.

Very fast fish. They go and find food

In between the coral branches, Little crabs

And mollusks, invertebrates And stuff like that.

They just use that very

Needle-like mouth To take it out.

That's why it looks like A hummingbird, almost.

It does look like a hummingbird, And it moves so swiftly.

Yes.Hence the name "Green bird."

This is one fish that's going To be all around your tank.

You're always going To see it.

And the coloring on that Is beautiful.

All the males have that bright, Metallic green color.

And if it's a female, It's got a brown.

It's brown.

And they grow to a pretty Nice size, about a foot long.

What else do you Have for us?

We have a highfin Snapper.

Heather: A highfin snapper.

So, they have a highfin And a lowfin?

Yes, they do. Yes, they do.

They're a little bit Of a shy fish,

So once you introduce Them in the tank,

They're going to Try to hide,

Especially when They're juveniles.

But they're not a very Aggressive fish,

But they are a little bit

Bothered by other fish Nipping at their fins.

Look, you see the bronzing That it has?

Yes, which matches perfectly With the jennings' tank.

Uh, this is still A juvenile fish.

It's going to grow up Till about 24 inches.

Can they go in In a group?

I mean, I would say, Just one by itself.

Oh, really?

Because they get along With every other fish,

But another snapper might Give it a territorial issue.

This fish is going to be Perfect for the fireplace tank.

Oh, this is a really Nice-looking angelfish,

Annularis angel.

Wow. That guy is beautiful.

Yeah, they're also known As the blue-ringed angelfish,

Because if you look closely, Right above the gill plate,

How long do they get?

And they are bottom dwellers,

So they will stay near The sand bed all day long.

They are nocturnal animals,

So they kind of conserve Their energy during the day

So they can expend it at night When they really need it.

So, when the sun sets down,

That's when this guy Gets active.

About the first aquarium.

When we first came here, We had the kitchen

On one side and the boardroom.

So, we decided to put A separation in there.

The tank's 700 gallons, And it's 132 inches long.

It's amazing.

So, we designed this tank With corals,

And in the middle of it, He changed it,

So we had this manzanita Branches with this rock,

So it kind of flowed With the room in here.

We worked with your wood guys.

They actually built All the wood onsite.

I love it. It's killer. It's killer.

Inside the aquarium, You have over 40 fish.

They're all going to get Along with each other.

So, in here, you have The imperator angel.

The imperator is going to be The big boss of the aquarium.

Well, since this is The boardroom,

The boardroom means The boss, right?

What is this fish Up there?

That's a lionfish Right there.

Okay.Those guys are venomous.

You've got to be careful With those guys.

If you actually touch 'em,

They could cause People to go to the hospital.

I won't be sticking my hand In that, so we'll be good.

This is just one Of three aquariums.

We call it the reception Desk aquarium, and we thought

That it would make A great addition to your office.

So, when people first walk in, It's like the first thing

That they can see.

The tank itself is about 800 gallons.

It's a very large tank, and We added the green jade in,

And we did that because The species that are in there,

They're calm and they love To be around the rocks.

Love the green rock. Green's the color.

Brett: we also know how Important branding is,

And we knew that your logo Is extremely important.

So, we actually cut it out On our cnc machine,

And then we glued it To the back of the aquarium.

Derrick: there you go. Beautiful.

On this tank, The filters are not here,

They're in another room. It's a remote system,

So you wouldn't hear it At the reception desk.

So, inside here, you have A variety of different fish.

Wayde: One of my favorites is that guy, Right there, california ray.

These guys have two palates,

Which are used for Crushing snails and shrimp.

Also inside here, We have yellow tangs.

Peaceful, community, aquarium Fish from the coast of hawaii.

It's 800 gallons, it's 10,000 Pounds sitting here.

Originally, we wanted To replace the fireplace,

But derrick told us That wasn't an option.

We had to figure out A way to make fire

And water actually work,

So we created something Really special for you.

It's actually water vapor And l.E.D. Lights.

That would mix water and fire.

You have over 40 different Kinds of fish in here.

One of my favorites Is the annularis angel.

That's a beautiful one Right there,

The one that's Picking on the coral.

And you have The heniochus butterfly.

They're also known As the bannerfish,

'cause when they swim, it looks Like waving a banner in the air.

There's a couple Rare fish in here.

You have the scribbled angel. Those guys are pretty amazing.

But we wanted to make sure That you had the special fish

For your office, For your aquarium.

The boardroom is now Anything but boring,

As dozens of fish meet in the 11-foot-long, 700-gallon tank,

Inside natural branches And decorative rock,

Give this tank a simple, Yet calming appearance.

It's certain to be the highlight Of any meeting.

In the big boss' office, We combined water and fire

By using special effects.

This enormous 9-foot-tall, 9-foot-long

Aquarium weighs over 5 tons

And is home to 40 fish.

We used cool water vapor Instead of actual fire

To make sure the fish tank Doesn't turn into bouillabaisse.

Wayde: all right, guys, we got The ideas for improvement box.

Holy cow, it's heavy.It's really heavy.
