And they're bringing us A big build challenge.

But we'd like to see the same Kind of vintage feel.

A photo booth As it is right now.

And we got to make it Into a tank, too?

Why not combine The two things we love --

And I think That'd be great.

You got all fish Swimming right behind you.

That'll save us On backdrop costs.

Now, is there Gonna be a mechanism

That takes the picture, And then, it spits out?

You're gonna handle All that stuff?

Yeah.

Now, is there an issue With the camera

Going through acrylic with flash Or anything like that?

There'd be very careful Lighting involved

'cause we don't want to have

Any reflections On any of the acrylic,

On anything Bouncing back and forth.

Gotcha.

So, what event Is this for, guys?

It needs to go From event to event to event.

We'd like to premier it

Down there At the first friday event.

I'm already familiar With first friday.

It's the first of the month. It's downtown.

They have A big artsy kind of thing.

It's actually pretty cool.

There's a lot of people Down there. It's packed.

I mean, we definitely got A lot of work.

Sounds good to me.

Now we're off To columbus, ohio,

To meet with the reps from Nationwide children's hospital.

Their massive, 12-story expansion

Opens to a land Of wonder and fantasy,

And they want to top it off With an aquarium.

Hey, guys. How you doing?

Matt. Dr. Allen.

What a great hospital You guys got here.

This is place Is unbelievable.

You know What we're missing?

This hospital always Used to have a fish tank.

And when we did the expansion, There's no more fish tank.

And so, nationwide insurance Wanted to donate

A fish tank To the hospital.

The kids really missed Having the fish tank.

They kept asking us.

So, what we've done Is put a sign up that said,

"The fish are on vacation."

[ laughter ]

So, where do you guys want The aquarium?

Well, we happen to have a place That's called the pond.

Let's check out the pond.

Let's check the pond out.

This is where The old aquarium used to be,

And it's kind of a main part Of the public pathway,

So it gets A lot of traffic.

Hold on To that other end.

Come down a little Towards me with it.

Maybe like right there.

Instead of making Something square --

Because people Might bang into it --

How about A half cylinder?

We just make it completely just, Like, a half cylinder.

Cut a circle Right in half.

Wayde: themeing Inside the aquarium --

What are you guys thinking?

I think, as you can see, We've really tried

To bring nature Into the building

And bring All sorts of elements

That are indigenous to ohio Into the hospital.

Matthew: It's a whimsical tone

And a whimsical nature For the kids.

So, it would be great If you could figure out

A way to incorporate that Into the aquarium.

Logs, plants.

Yeah.

And they got a lot of animals Floating around, too.

So, we could definitely put all Kinds of cool stuff in there.

And one of the important Things for us to do

Is to try to create An environment

That decreases the amount Of anxiety and stress

That families and patients Are under.

And I tell you, One of the things

That I think people really enjoy Is the sound of a waterfall.

Is that possible to do?

Yeah, we could do it. A waterfall? Easy.

I mean, children's hospital -- It'd be great for the kids.

The environment Is really important.

So, we need to take into account Epidemiological concerns.

It's an infection-control Issue.

So, whatever is inside the tank Needs to stay inside the tank.

Bacteria that might be good For the fish

Is definitely not good For the patients.

The whole aquarium itself

Is just gonna be One self-contained unit.

Okay, guys. We got Two really cool tanks.

One is gonna be A photo-booth tank.

You could do great props For that stuff.

Now, if you go To the photo-booth places,

They have props That you can put on

Like hats and, you know --

Costume.

Yeah, props, you know?

Under-the-sea Kind of themeing.

That could be A lot of fun.

We need to go shopping.

Shopping!

This photo booth, it's old.

Redneck here's gonna have to do Some modifications

So we put the flasher in it.

We got to make sure Everything's just right

So when it takes the picture, It looks really good.

I've had tractors that needed Less restoration than this.

Brett: And we're also building the tank

For the children's hospital.

It's gonna have a custom Waterfall in it.

This is a special tank because The area is air-controlled,

So our aquarium -- We have to control that area

To make sure The children are healthy

And the hospital Has clean air.

What can get into the air From the aquarium?

There's a lot of things.

Stuff that's inside The aquarium,

Whether the water's dirty,

Could get into the air Through evaporation.

We're gonna have to seal The whole tank

Against the wall and everything. Okay.

Brett: we drew up our idea For the tank,

And the hospital loved it.

A 10-foot-tall faux rock wall

Will be the backdrop To this slice of nature.

The insert will come to life

Inside the 14 1/2-foot-tall Curved aquarium

When a waterfall trickles Halfway down the rocks

And into the pond below.

A habitat of handmade critters And cattails

Will give the vibrant, Saltwater fish

Plenty of places to hide.

All the plumbing and filtration Will be tucked away

Inside the stand.

The top and bottom facade will Completely seal the tank

So it will be one safe, Self-contained,

Nurturing piece of nature.

Wayde: I grabbed frankie, Redneck, and some acrylic

To figure out A potential problem

With the nationwide Children's tank.

This tank's gonna be half-full With water, okay?

Now, if it's half full,

And we have a waterfall in here, It's gonna splash.

And if it splashes,

It's gonna hit The front of this tank.

It's gonna fog up.

Kids aren't gonna be able To see in it.

When the tank is full,

There's no extra space For this to be an issue.

But since water droplets And condensation

Can fog the inside of this tank,

We're running a test On a smaller piece of acrylic

To figure out How to clear it off

Before we actually build The tank.

Frankie, grab this.

The temperature of the tank's Gonna be different

Than the temperature Of the room,

So that means Condensation's gonna build up.

Exhale On the whole front face.

[ exhales deeply ] That's what's gonna happen.

That's gonna happen Everywhere.

You're not gonna be able To see in the tank.

That's gonna be a problem.

Here it goes.

Brett: whoa! Whoa!

Dude, I said a waterfall, Not niagara falls.

That's ridiculous.

We're working on A really cool waterfall tank

For nationwide Children's hospital.

And with the tank Only being half full,

We got a real problem On our hands.

The temperature of the tank's

Gonna be different than The temperature of the room,

So that means condensation's Gonna build up.

Frankie, turn the nozzle So you get a stream.

You see? That clears it up more.

That's much better.

We need something That's consistent.

A sprinkler.

Go ahead.

Okay. You got to pulse it.

Yeah, see? It's much better.

We'll get rid Of all the condensation.

It'll, you know, be just like The windshield wipers in a car.

Pulse it.

So, what we got to do

Is replicate that Inside the fish tank.

If we design something

That we can constantly Put a stream on,

Turn it on and turn it off, You know what?

I think this would work.

Since the meeting, you know, With the photo-booth tank,

I decided to pick up a camera, Take some shots.

It's nice for you

To be practicing your hobby While we're working.

It is nice.

You know what? I got an idea.

Dude, look at this.

So, you can see from one tank Into the next into the next?

That's what I'm saying. You're behind one.

Why don't we put, like, A tank in the front

With the camera in it With fish in it

So you see The fish swimming.

And then, we sit. The tank's behind us.

So, the backdrop of the photo Booth is an aquarium.

There's a fish tank Behind you.

We'll do salt behind us.

So, it's like A saltwater backdrop.

We'll do fresh in front of us, So, when it takes the picture,

You got freshwater fish, And then, behind you,

Saltwater fish.

We get both worlds.

It's the best Of both worlds.

I think they'll love it. I'm in.

Brett: this working Photo-booth aquarium

Will feature not one But two tanks --

One saltwater tank That will serve

As the colorful, ocean backdrop, And one freshwater in front.

A camera encased In a waterproof, acrylic box

Will sit inside the front tank.

With the help of some Snazzy coral and flashy fish,

Booth patrons will look More like deep-sea divers.

Since the event is outside,

Chillers will sit Behind each tank

To help our finned friends Keep cool and comfortable.

And once we spruce up The facade,

This fish-filled photo booth Will have everyone smiling.

The rock-and-tree-limb backdrop For the children's hospital tank

Is coming along.

All we have to do Is test the waterfall

And see how it trickles over.

Hey, the hospital Was very adamant

About this thing being Self-contained.

Can't have any water Dripping outside.

It's very, very important.

One slip up could compromise The environment for the kids.

Here it goes.

Whoa! Whoa!

Shut it off. Kill it.

Since the tank is half-full,

We want to see the waterfall Trickle down the rocks

And into the reservoir.

It shouldn't feel like we're In the front row of seaworld.

There's a little trickle. Here it comes.

But actually, that's a good Effect right there.

It's keeping it contained.

No, that's not bad.

We finally got The right nozzles on

And the water flow Under control.

While brandon's adding color To the waterfall,

Redneck is taking test shots With his camera

For the photo-booth tank.

I want everybody to leave Our tank feeling photogenic.

Keep in mind, This event's at nighttime.

Oh, so that means We're gonna need a flash.

That's gonna be a problem. Let's test it with the flash.

Smile.

Ooh, boy.

Oh, my god.

We're in the middle Of testing our camera

For the photo-booth tank.

Acrylic is three times clearer Than glass,

So shooting through Multiple layers isn't a problem.

What is a problem Is the glare from the flash.

Ooh, boy.

I'm gonna need to flash back

To my high-school Photography skills for this one.

The flash Can't be in the water

Or reflecting Off the acrylic

'cause it's gonna bounce Off the acrylic And cause that glare.

You could run an external Flash to the outside.

And then, they take The picture through the tank,

And then the bulbs go ksht!

I'm not concerned With the flash on this tank,

But the background tank -- There's a possibility

That there might Be a glare.

He went to high school, And took a photography class.

That's right.

You're looking At the second-place champion

Of the national scholastic Photo competition.

Wayde: look at that.

I guess brett did learn A thing or two in high school.

Why don't we do Some kind of, like, test?

Photography might have been A hobby,

But right now, I'm 100% a fish-tank guy.

So, we decided to call in

The professionals From in a flash

To make sure that the lighting

Is picture-perfect For the photo-booth tank.

Wayde: What do we got here?

We want to shoot it as if We're doing it for real.

So put frankie in.

Put on some costumes.

The rest of the gang

Is out shopping For our underwater props,

So the in a flash guys Brought some of theirs

So we could use them For the test.

Look, it's willy wonka's Shorter cousin.

Wayde: oh, my god. [ laughs ]

Todd: okay. Let's do a shot.

We've eliminated The reflections.

Wayde: now how do we get The shadow on the back

To get the fish lit up?

I think we're gonna need Another light.

So, let's run that Over there

And point the light Directly in from the top.

That's some hi-res there. You're looking good, frankie.

It looks like Your hair is on fire,

But you're looking good.

These will work out Pretty good.

We've got enough light,

And we've got a long enough Depth of field

With this setup on this camera That we're gonna be able

To get everything in focus and Everything lit all the way back

Through both tanks And the subject.

Okay. That's awesome.

The next step For the photo-booth tank

Is to finish the acrylic box

That houses the camera In our tank.

Since it's gonna Be submerged underwater,

We got to make sure Our seal is nice and tight.

We'll glue this With solvent.

It's gonna be nice And strong.

Okay. Let me see.

You can actually watch it

Fill in the void All the way around.

What we're using Really isn't glue.

It's a chemical that Melts the two pieces Of acrylic together

And makes it one strong, Solid piece.

I'd let this sit For a good 20 minutes.

So, when this is done, Let me know.

To find the picture-perfect fish For both of our tanks

At sea dwelling creatures.

This place has 120,000 gallons Of marine life

And new stuff coming in Every day.

So, hospital, kids-theme. What do we got?

This one Right over here.

Ah, a yellow tang. I like it.

Bright, exciting, Moving around.

The kids Always love them.

You know, these guys, Believe it or not, at nighttime,

They actually lose Their color.

And when they wake up In the morning,

They come out A little bit more vibrant.

I think That's gonna be perfect.

Nothing like a clownfish To brighten up the kids' day.

Nothing like a clownfish. It's gonna be recognizable.

They're gonna be able

To walk up to the tank And see their favorite fish.

You notice these are A little bit darker in color,

Which they're called Onyx clowns.

And the breeder Is so exciting right now.

They're coming up with All new types of fish.

This is, like, A mix between the nemo,

Which is the ocellaris,

And the black-and-white Ocellaris.

You get more of A dusky-colored one,

And look how beautiful They are.

The kids will love them.

No two really Even look the same.

Look at that.

All right, great. It's on to the photo-booth tank.

There's people That are, like, hogs

Always being In front of the camera.

Camera hogs? Uh-huh.

Let's get a hogfish. We got some over there, too.

A lot of parasites Off the other fish and stuff.

Oh, they pick parasites A little bit?

So they're really The hogs.

Like a cleaning station. Correct.

They're really Good to have in a tank.

These guys can get Over 3 feet long,

Like 22, 23 pounds.

They're big.

How about the dogfaced puffer For this photo booth?

You know, A dogfaced puffer might work

'cause, you know, They always got those --

They got a funny-looking face.

And people like to make Funny faces in cameras.

Yeah. Nobody makes A funnier face than a dogface.

Well, you might Have them beat, bro.

What I like about these guys -- Their teeth.

They actually have to bite Corals all the time.

You know what I mean?

They just keep growing And growing and growing.

I've actually seen one

Poop a piece of coral As thick as my pinky.

We called them "Water dogs."

They're kind of like A little lizard

Walking around underwater.

I know. They look prehistoric, Don't they?

This guy here Is a giraffe-nosed catfish.

Look at him.

They're also known As gentle giants.

Oh, are they?

They're very calm, soothing.

They just cruise around.

But that nose, the way It comes out -- unbelievable.

Look at that foxface.

It looked like he slicked His hair back for his closeup.

That lionfish --

I guess he didn't get The memo to smile.

Fish are in. Let's rock and roll.

We fitted the canopy With camera lights

That the guys from In a flash gave us.

All right, be careful with That equipment, guys.

Is get the rest Of the curtains up,

Some of the equipment, And we're ready to go.

Now, that's A photo booth.

Todd: it's amazing. It's huge.

And you told us Different flashes and angles,

We incorporated all that We learned from you guys

To actually put it in here.

So, I noticed the camera's In the middle of the tank.

Why'd you do that? Well, there's a few reasons.

One is that when you get A bunch of people in there,

You can get the wide lens And get everybody.

And we also wanted the fish To swim in front of it

To have a freshwater feeling

With the saltwater feeling Right behind you.

Ingenious, huh? Yeah.

So, we're gonna be able to shoot Through all these tanks?

Crystal clear.

Insane.

It's a fish-tank Photo booth.

Brett: I know we changed The exterior a little bit,

But we kept the vintage top, Put all the camera equipment,

All the lighting For the aquarium --

Everything's Up inside there.

This is completely Over-the-top.

We do event photography,

But this thing, This is an event by itself.

So, we got all kinds Of different fish.

What's that one with All the spines and stuff?

A lionfish.

We also have a naso tang.

We have a blueface angel.

On the other side, On the freshwater side...

We have Blue and gold gouramis.

We also have Red-parrot cichlids.

And what are those fish That you really like?

I call them water dogs.

They're called water dogs. They have feet, right?

They look like They have feet.

Is gonna be traveling to all Different events in las vegas,

We made some big, But lightweight pieces

That are easy to assemble And simple to break down.

Yeah, and atm now is gonna Be the new foster home

For these fish Until the next event.

No doubt.

One down, one to go.

We're back In columbus, ohio,

To install the nationwide Children's hospital tank.

And we made it

Just as redneck and kyle Are driving the tank in.

They just traveled Over 40 hours

From vegas to columbus To deliver the tank,

And I know They're just as anxious as us

To get the tank installed.

Children's hospital.

We got to be cautious. We got to be quiet.

We got to make sure Everything's nice and clean.

So, what am I doing here?

Well, you are messy, You are loud, and you are dirty,

But we do need your help.

So, today, be on Your tippy toes, all right?

The hospital Has strict guidelines

We have to operate under.

Come on. Let's get this inside.

[ gate bangs ]

That was loud. There's kids. Shh.

So much for being quiet.

Getting this tank

Inside the building's Not gonna be easy.

With the inserts, this tank's A whopping 2,300 pounds.

Down a little.

Down a little. Right there.

We got to carefully lower This beast onto two carts,

Then slowly Roll it into the facility.

Any slip up of a tank Of this weight

Can cause Some serious damage.

[ forklift beeping ]

Is that cart As low as it can go?

Yep.

All right. Everybody, hands on deck.

No one can actually move.

The tank can rock, So we got to be careful.

Brett: See if you can push now.

Kick that end Over a little bit.

So I got to recruit

All the manpower I can To lift it up.

The cart's gonna give out.

One of the guys Is gonna hold the carts.

We're gonna stand it here,

But the end thing is We have to have this

On top of one of those Blue carts.

So, after the cart Comes out,

We're gonna have To tilt it back down,

Tilt it on the cart,

And all of us are gonna have to Hold it to slide it on the cart.

Brett: we're all ready? So, let's get hands on.

It's taken 12 men to move This 1-ton tank into place.

That could have been A real "Cart-astrophe."

With this tank Upright on the cart,

We can roll it Towards the install site

And position it carefully To slide on the steel stand.

To the front Of the steel stand.

And then, I want to go your way?

It's time to bring this Whimsical waterfall to life.

Yeah, but with the tight squeeze To get inside this thing,

So, all we have to do Is put sand and water in.

You ready For the nutri-seawater?

With the sand and water ready, It's time to get the fish in,

But we can't do it Our usual way.

We hooked up a water stream To keep the condensation away,

And it's looking good.

We were able to incorporate The beautifulness of ohio

And put it Inside the aquarium.

Our craftsman at our shop, Brandon,

Actually made a turtle...

Oh, wow. ...Which is underwater here.

He made some snails up top.

He made a little gecko Over here in the corner.

Brett: frog.

Yeah, there's a frog, A bullfrog down in here.

We thought it was very important To get that color,

You know, the uniqueness,

The bright colors in there, As well.

And you have The custom waterfall

That's being pumped up

With the same water That's in the aquarium.

And is that a rain shower Up at the top of that?

What happens is Is when you have the water here,

And it's self-contained, Enclosed,

This is gonna build up With moisture.

So, every once in a while, It clicks on and clicks off

So you can actually See through the aquarium

So there's no condensation.

Dr. Allen: Having this fish tank is just Such a tremendous addition.

We wanted something that brought Nature into the hospital,

And this fish tank

Just really animates that space To such a degree.

We really weren't sure they Could pull it off, but wow.

We have a magnificent foxface And the regular foxface,

Which are right up front.

We also have A powderblue tang right here.

These guys We relate to the hospital

Because they're called The surgeonfish.

They have blades by their tails That look like scalpels.

We also have a flame angel, Which is red.

It flows perfectly. I mean, it's amazing.

Dr. Allen: And really, coming in,

It looks like it was built As part of that wall there.

As you can see by how many People we have down here

To "Ooh" and "Ah" At this fabulous creation,

It just helps us create This healing environment

That's just so important To our patients and families

And for our staff, As well.

And we can't Thank you enough for it.

The relationship between Nationwide insurance

And nationwide children's Hospital goes back six decades.

Dr. Allen: this is just Such a great example

Of what that partnership Can produce.

Turned out better than I ever could have imagined.

One saltwater And one freshwater.

Weighing over a ton, This picture-perfect tank

Features over 100 camera-friendly fish

That will make patrons Look like

They're 20,000 leagues Under the sea.

The 420-gallon aquarium

We built for the nationwide Children's hospital

Towers in at 4,200 pounds

With an underwater Nature retreat

For the patients And their families.

200 colorful fish play below A relaxing waterfall

That streams down From the top of the tank.

Back in vegas, I want to make sure

That redneck's smile doesn't Scare any more of our clients.

It's been weeks since he had His tooth in his mouth,

So I'm taking matters Into my own hands.
